The staff were super friendly! But the technical equipment deserves 10 negative stars – I had a tire pressure problem. The gauge showed everything except the correct pressure, no matter which tire I checked. In my opinion, this shouldn't be happening at a motorway service station.

The restaurant was okay, but the toilets were unusable, all clogged and flooded, and we still paid €1 for that 🫣😓

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, but the fuel pricing, like everywhere else on the highways, is outrageous: €2.30 at the rest stop when the average price at other gas stations is €1.74. That's a 33 percent markup – blatant profiteering.

The fries with BBQ pulled pork were very freshly prepared and delicious. The dining area was clean!

We stopped at the Essen rest area on Boxing Day during our charging break, and it was surprisingly good. We had the kids' lunch box and goulash soup, both of which were delicious. The staff were also very friendly.

Today around 4 pm we were there and asked for the key to the baby changing room. Unfortunately, the restaurant staff don't speak German very well, but we were told to pick up the key at the gas station. There, an employee demanded a deposit from us; otherwise, we wouldn't get the key. Absolutely outrageous and deeply rude. He has no right whatsoever to keep customers' ID cards, or any personal belongings for that matter. Then my husband asked if he could leave money as a deposit, and the worst part is that the employee said, "No, 5 euros isn't enough." It's a shame I was polite enough not to throw the key in his face. It couldn't be more disgusting. Luckily, a very kind woman (from the cleaning staff) simply opened the door for us. Our daughter is one year old and just needed a fresh diaper. I've never experienced anything like this anywhere else but at your place.

One star is that parking is everything. Parking is about a hundred cars, if you count in queues, etc. On Friday I got to the Christmas tree at 8:00 PM, and there were still 5 spaces available. For such a large parking lot, there is only one shower at the gas station. No words... Yes, there is a store 3 km away. Yes, there is still no place to get water...

It's incredible how the small team managed to build our entire bus quickly and easily. Huge respect to all the employees.

The Donautal West Tank & Rast rest area is a particularly well-maintained and inviting rest area located off the A3 Autobahn near Passau. It's an ideal place for a break – clean, quiet, and comfortable. The parking lot is spacious, well-lit, and ideal for both cars and trucks. On-site, there's an Esso gas station open 24/7, a restaurant serving hot meals, a shop with all the essentials, and modern Sanifair restrooms that are always kept clean. Charging stations are available for electric car drivers, and the green surroundings invite you to take a short break and recharge your batteries. As you can see from the pictures, this place has its own special charm – well-maintained, friendly, and pleasant. A stop is definitely worth it: a cup of coffee, something delicious to eat, and a more relaxed journey ahead.

I stopped here for a short break during my journey to Vienna. The tank station was clean, and we bought an Autobahn pass and some coffee. However, the prices for coffee and other items were extremely high. The toilets were clean but required a €1 fee to use. Overall, it was a nice place for a quick break.

You'll find it next to a gas station. The staff is very nice, everything is clean. The prices are the usual, they prepare the food quickly, there's a big new Segafredo coffee machine that also accepts the Sanifar one-euro ticket. On the table you'll find a Google review sheet with a QR code.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend it at all. For me, it was just a terrible chip shop. Those were the worst falafel I've ever eaten. Nothing special. I could have just gone to a gas station and gotten a sandwich. Some gas stations even have more and better selections. It's a real shame. If I were the owner, I'd come up with a better concept. I really hope they change the concept and offer better food. Just well-intentioned advice.

Unfriendly, you get the feeling they are totally overwhelmed with an order of 2 coffees and 1 Leberkässemmel and it is ICE COLD totally uncomfortable to take a break

During the 1900 km journey, you have to stop at a lot of rest areas. It seems that they are constantly cleaning. Many, many different people use them. Toilet paper is usually not available, but the roll is also missing. So, if I can throw garbage all over the place and not flush the toilet after myself, I probably needed a roll of paper

Everything is good and as an ADAC member you get 10% off food and drinks, which is great.

Thanks to the Bavarian police, I was able to visit. But there was nothing serious about it. A quick check, I moved around a bit, and then drove on.

If you haven't bought a vignette before your trip outside Germany, this is the place where you can buy one for Slovenia and Austria, both in electronic form and for tunnels, so you don't have to worry about anything on the glass. Before entering the shop, take a photo of your license plate so you can show the salesperson that you can enter the correct one into the system. The parking lot is large enough and has spaces for charging electric cars. There is also the option of getting something warm to eat and drink, as well as enough fuel.

The old lady was serving, and she wasn't nice! Instead of two monthly stickers, she gave me two weekly stickers, and she didn't like that.

I filled up there, and it was really busy. It's probably because it's close to the border; a lot of people buy their Austrian tax stickers there, and so on. I was still able to get a pump quickly, though; the sales area was busy. Mass processing wasn't particularly friendly, but not unfriendly either.

The prices are too high, and the toilets are dirty. Not a pleasant experience.

A very convenient gas station on the highway, easy to access and well-maintained. The pumps work perfectly, the staff is friendly, and the restrooms are clean, which is rare and appreciated on the road. A little extra: the shop offers snacks and coffee before getting back on the road. A pleasant and efficient break during a long journey.

Unfortunately, 2 stars minus! One is because the dryer in the bathroom doesn't work, the other is because that's not what I asked for and it's so expensive! Anyway, the service at the gas station is perfect, bathroom 3€+1€ why do you get in! Relatively large truck parking lot, it fills up quickly after 5pm! Apart from those two bad things, I can only recommend it! Anyway, the prices are the usual German prices, the portions in the restaurant are not the usual! Only the chef understands English!

The worst rest stop I've ever stopped at. The shop only had dry rolls, and the restaurant wasn't any better. The parking lot was completely filthy. The only positive thing was the restroom.

Quite a large parking lot in front of the Austrian border. Basically, everything has already been written, only a small correction, the channel, as one colleague called it, flowing nearby is the largest European river Danube) It's just that in this place it is not as huge as in the lower reaches)

I wanted a pretzel for €2.69. They tried to charge me €3.99. I pointed this out to the young lady. I was corrected, but I had the feeling it was done intentionally. The best part is, I was told to "get the pretzel yourself." Unfortunately, that's not possible because the pretzels are behind the cash register...

On my way back from vacation, I stopped at the gas station and got a coffee, parked, and enjoyed it. The rest stop was very clean at the time; I highly recommend a quick stop here.

I had a problem with my car, and the clerk, Beni, was very nice. He quickly checked my car, checked the oil, and filled it up. Very nice.

Well, okay for a rest stop, but nothing more. At the gas station, there were incredibly long lines because of the sale of electronic toll tickets, which block everything when you simply want to pay. In the restaurant, the selection was very limited, which didn't encourage you to linger. Long lines at the checkout because everyone wanted to redeem their receipt from the restroom for something. The icing on the cake was that one of the machines at the restroom didn't print the QR code correctly. That's not a big deal, but it's definitely annoying when there are five people, especially when the comment is at the cashier that they can't help, it just doesn't work, even though they're the receipts they issued themselves.

I visited this rest stop with my husband today, and we were pleasantly surprised! Despite the busy holiday season, everything was very clean, both the dining room and the restrooms. My breakfast (see picture) was fresh and delicious; the croissant and puff pastry were crispy, and the cappuccino was wonderfully creamy. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, even under pressure. I absolutely don't understand the negative reviews about unfriendly staff. I received courteous service and had a very pleasant experience. A definite recommendation for anyone passing through who wants to take a pleasant break. 👌

Everything you would expect but very expensive…

A replacement toll from ASFINAG for €120.00 was received. It was assumed that I didn't have a valid vignette when driving on Austrian motorways on June 23, 2025. After investigating with ASFINAG, I was informed that the vignette was only incorrectly stamped by the gas station employee on June 24, 2025. The gas station is not willing to offer any goodwill solution; they didn't even reimburse me for the €12.40 vignette (despite the receipt). If you make a mistake, you should own up to it.

Quite crowded Two large coffee machines weren't stocked with cups. In my opinion, this should be checked when there's such a huge crowd on a popular route.

Terrible service, exorbitant prices, and giant spiders at the exit to the terrace. I waited an hour for three currywursts. The slacker in the kitchen, who was making the sandwiches, was on the phone, wearing the same gloves. We hope you accept the constructive criticism and improve your services. The restrooms are clean and have an automatic disinfection system, excellent. However, a blonde lady there is very rude to customers.

Fuel is extremely expensive: €2.05, while 2 km further on, when exiting the motorway, it is €1.58.

Hello, I cannot agree with the previous reviews. Wi-Fi works. You can of course get water on request. It goes without saying that a service station of this size does not simply give out several hectolitres of water to each of the tens of thousands of people. The food is impeccable, motorway standard but absolutely and the quality is of a very high level. The toilets are also top-notch considering that everyone is on holiday and all these masses are going to the toilet. In the past, before sanifair existed, it was really bad! I have personally known the facility for a very long time and know that up until a year ago it was treated more than just stepmotherly by other operators. Something is constantly being done here! Incredibly, I have now noticed once again that even the management is on site, apparently constantly and permanently. Basically, you should be able to address problems on site without simply giving an implausible review without any feedback on site and without any context.

Toilet not clean. Toilet lady laughing and shaking her head at us trying to pay the sanifair. Then she is outside picking through the trash for bottles. Minimal German spoken. Interior design is quite outdated. Not a great place all in all. A lot of trash in the parking area
