Takoyaki Teppachi in Düsseldorf

I was finally able to eat takoyaki, something I've wanted to try for so long. Service, food and decor were really great.

Takoyaki are solid. Consistency didn't come close to those from Japan. If you don't come to Takoyaki/Tako Tuesday I think the prices are a bit too high. Otherwise great. (visited November 5th, 2024)

Exciting and unusual: the takoyaki, small dough balls with octopus filling, which I tried on the recommendation of a very friendly waitress. Served with a spicy sauce and fish roe, they were a real experience in terms of taste and texture. Warning: They are extremely hot inside! As side dishes I chose edamame and a wakame salad - both light and fresh accompaniments. To round things off, I tried an eel onigiri, a classic Japanese rice dish. Although octopus, fish roe and eel are not my usual favorites, I was pleasantly surprised: everything tasted excellent and sent the palate on a culinary journey. This restaurant is an absolute recommendation for anyone not from Düsseldorf who likes to try new things, even if the shop doesn't look like much.

Half an hour standing in line + half an hour waiting for food. For a meal that's gone in five minutes.

Takoyaki Teppachi is an absolute must for my family every time we visit Düsseldorf. My 9-year-old son loves the dishes and the prices are really unbeatable - apart from the drinks, which I personally find a bit too expensive. But the excellent food completely makes up for it. We always order the Tako-yaki, which is also great to take with you. The service is always courteous and the food is prepared quickly and freshly. We are particularly impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant; Sauces and hand sanitizer are available on every table. A thoroughly recommended restaurant for all lovers of Japanese street food! We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Very tasty takoyaki. I love the Kirin beer on tap for only 5 euros. Onigiri are also delicious and the atmosphere is totally comfortable.

The takoyakis are awesome! Immediately bring back memories of the legendary takoyakis from Osaka. The service is top, authentically friendly.

Very nice place. You can even order food at the table using a QR code. I ate my first takoyaki here 😍 Once with octopus and mayo and once with edamame and corn. Super delicious!

Ordered takoyaki (10x regular and 6x mayo) yesterday and they were fine. Ordered again today (6x vegetarian and 6x negi) and they took 30 minutes despite saying it would be 10, served two groups before us even though they came and ordered the same things after us, and used the wrong/vegetarian takoyaki for the negi. Disappointing.

Very nice interior and very tasty

Loved the atmosphere and staff behaviour. We tried the original Takoyaki and it tasted heavenly. Only downside no halal meat available but plenty of veg and seafood options!

Very tasty and fresh Takoyaki with a street food flair. The takoyaki are prepared in front of you and different types with toppings are offered. You can also order yakitori, karaage or onigiri here. Maybe not for really hungry people but definitely recommended as a snack! Here, too, you have to expect a waiting time on the weekend, but everything went well and the service was quick.

The food was super tasty. No matter whether tokoyaki, ramen or onigiri. The price is also completely reasonable. On Saturday afternoon, like everywhere in Düsseldorf, you have to wait a bit.

I was just there with a friend. We were standing right in front of the takeaway area. I'm sitting in a wheelchair. We were simply ignored. After 10 minutes we left. When we came back after a few minutes, we could see an Asian couple, probably Japanese, being served. One star is still too many for such “service”.

The food was far too salty and barely edible. Also, the waiter had difficulty understanding me. The drinks are overpriced and you are not allowed to bring your own drinks.

It's also a great place to stop by when you're feeling hungry. I was very satisfied with the delicious takoyaki and the kind staff! Plus, Tuesday was a service day where you could get 10 takoyaki for the price of 6, so I was lucky 😊

The food was very tasty, the service was super friendly and helpful. You feel comfortable here. Great atmosphere here, almost like in Japan. Aside from the food, the toilet was so clean. It's not even that clean in my house. Wow.

A crazy experience that you can have in Little Tokyo in Dusseldorf. The restaurant evokes Japanese style with service both on the street and at the table. The food is fabulous, handmade on the spot, served like in Japan, tasty and inviting like few others. The waitress was kind and friendly. They also speak English. An experience to try!

The Little Tokyo neighborhood is truly unforgettable, like this restaurant which offers the possibility of buying takeaway onighiri and handmade takoyaki. They have outside tables to quickly consume what you ordered. The packaging is also in Japanese style.

I ordered an onigiri for takeaway with teriyaki salmon. The onigiri was freshly prepared and was filled with delicious fillings. The salmon was fresh, well seasoned and the size of the onigiri was very generous. For 3.70 euros you can get a super fresh and healthy snack here. Fortunately, card payment is possible and overall the restaurant is a great asset when it comes to street food. I absolutely recommend it.

Takoyaki were absolutely raw and gave us stomach problems and a few trips to the toilet. We can't recommend it. I still think it’s positive that there are veggie options. Even though it was unfortunately a letdown for us that day.

Best I could say is that we planned to go the next day again! Karage is a must!

I had the kaarage with mayonaise and a homemade onigiri with Tina mayo. The food was very tasty and as expected, authentic Japanese street food. If you're looking for it, you'll definitely find it here. It took a while to prepare, but it wasn't too bad. Price-performance is great! Clear recommendation!

The staff is extremely friendly, polite and respectful. You feel really comfortable. I personally ate the square onigiri with chicken. The onigiris are out of this world! It is so incredibly delicious, fresh, edible and tasty. I can recommend this restaurant to everyone! We sat outside, so I don't know what the ambience was like inside

If you like takoyaki then you must eat here, it is absolutely amazing, the best I have ever had. The onigiri is also the nicest I have ever had. Delicious ramen too. The prices are a bargain, the staff are very friendly. A gem of a restaurant.

Super tasty takoyaki and karaage

Good shop for newbies who are just getting to know Japanese cuisine. Takoyaki are not for everyone because of the squid. There are also vegetarian options with edamame, which I think is really good! :) Most Japanese restaurants sell frozen takoyaki that are deep fried. These are fried in the typical takoyaki pan and therefore have a soft consistency. It's a matter of taste, what you prefer. In any case, I really enjoyed the takoyaki! The onigiri are freshly prepared so that the rice is still warm. You can't get your onigiri fresher anywhere in Düsseldorf. ☺️

Very “typical” atmosphere for a Japanese restaurant of this type. Price performance is top!! The food came quickly and the staff was courteous. The salmon onigiri were surprisingly good, melting like butter on the tongue. The takoyaki were creamy and went perfectly with the sauce

Did a stop here for lunch, and it was great! The daily menu was pretty awesome, we had two onigiris (tuna and salmon) and karaage, we also ordered the negi takoyaki and everything tasted amazing, the second round we repeated the same but with an unagi onigiri and I'm not sure if it was just me but it tasted pretty weird, I normally like the taste but this one somewhat tasted old? I'm not sure how to explain it better but one of my friends told me that it was probably due to not being made in open fire but we're unsure, just beware of that one, everything else was great and they were pretty well filled. The atmosphere was great as well. They had Japanese music playing in the background, and they had a cozy vibe with very pleasant waiters. A recommend if you're in the zone.

Lovely looking place with very nice staff. If you'll come during high time it might take a few minutes more but trust, it's worth it. You can watch your food get made and it already looks delicious. If you want to dine in, it's community tables, so you might have to sit next to strangers but that's not a problem at all. Even if you're an introvert like me you'll find your space to eat and chill. Can totally recommend, especially if you wanna have something to eat and still not be too full to take a stroll through the city later.

The takoyaki weren't really my thing, but the onigiri were really tasty. But I absolutely loved the fries, definitely try them!

We went because we wanted to eat takoyaki. We also ordered onigiri and ramen on the side. Three people wanted to taste them all. The octopus in the takoyaki was very hard, we could hardly chew it. I ate it for the first time, maybe this is the original, but it was not enjoyable to eat. The seaweed and rice of the onigiri were also dried. The ramen had a decent taste. In short, it wasn't us.

If you like takoyaki and onigiri, this is the place for you! The establishment is self service, so you'll have to pick up your order from the counter. But the space is small so it's not too much of a hassle. Takoyaki is freshly made to order and comes in different sauces for variety. They also have ramen and kaarage on the menu so you'll be spoilt for choice!

You can conveniently order from your cell phone at the table using a QR code. Food is freshly prepared but still on the table quickly. Takoyaki in the veggie and octopus versions were simply delicious. Special recommendation: Takoyaki with Mentai mayo and nori fries with Kewpie Baby mayo. The shop is also nicely decorated.

Unfortunately I didn't try takoyaki but the kaarage were also very tasty. With rice and miso soup it was a great combination and I particularly liked the price, I only paid €15 per portion with drinks (3 instead of 6 kaarage would have been enough, so you can also get €10). The order was placed via cell phone, everything went smoothly and the staff was also very friendly. But above all I love the atmosphere inside, you feel like you're in a small Tokyo. 5 stars definitely take a look👍🏻

They didn’t hesitate to give us leftover takoyaki. Soggy inside and crispy outside it says . But it was soggy on the outside also. Fries also soggy . Sorry not worth trying again

Simply awesome, the best takoyaki in Düsseldorf!!

The food is amazing. The best takoyakis that I have ever eaten. My favorites are the one with mayo and bonito flakes and the other with coriander and spicy oil. It ways comes hot from the "grill". Be cautious with the moist (and very hot) interior. Slice it and let some steam out before biting it. Even if it takes a little time to get ready, they come as fresh as possible. You may get lucky and your order goes with the current batch or you have to wait a couple of minutes for the next batch. It's always worthy. The staff is also very friendly An easy recommendation for takoyaki fans I come here at least once (or even twice) a month since it opened I wish the owners a lot of success, because I'd like to keep eating here for a long time

Ordered takeaway food. When taking away you have 2 options, half shell for free, box with lid 20ct. I had to pay 20ct for each packaging and after paying I had to pay another 20ct for a bag to transport the food even though this had already been charged. This can quickly lead to a few extra euros for larger orders. The meal was okay. But I was surprised that the onigiri was warmer than the karaage. I would have the onigiri set and the takoyaki. Attention: the onigiri set always costs 12 euros, regardless of whether you take it with you or eat it here. But when you take it with you, the onigiri set is WITHOUT miso soup. You will be informed of this, but you still pay the full price for one less product.

We have tried everything, which you should definitely do too! The takoyaki was delicious and the onigiri was surprisingly tasty. Definitely recommended if you are in the Japanese neighborhood in Düsseldorf!

Ok, we were there on Saturday evening, where it is of course generally quite crowded anyway. But the employees all seemed extremely stressed. Everything was extremely delayed due to guests inside, outside and at the takeaway counter. After a relatively manageable wait, we received a place card with a number and QR code to order. The tables weren't numbered, which confused us a bit at first. We were told that onigiri would unfortunately take about 30 minutes, which was fine with us since we only wanted takoyaki anyway. Table numbers were constantly shouted through the restaurant and guests were asked in a very stern, loud tone to get their own food from the front. So service isn't really there. We waited far longer than 30 minutes for our takoyaki, which was nothing like fast food. Our conclusion: OK for once, but there are better offers in the area. The octopus pieces were relatively tough, so the two consistencies inside the balls didn't really harmonize. We liked the vegan alternative better, although the consistency was more similar to vegetable sticks or mashed potatoes. Maybe we'll try the onigiri again, they looked good, but I currently rate the shop as nothing more than ok.

We really liked it! Price-performance for the food is simply great! Drinks are a little more expensive than at the restaurants in the area, but the lunch set and the onigiri set are more than fair. You order yourself using the QR code without stress and then pick it up at the counter when the table number is called. You then have to put the dishes back yourself. Above all, the food, although very filling, is not heavy on the stomach. The takoyaki are perhaps a bit too liquid/tough for European tastes, but if you let them cool down a bit they become a bit firmer and the taste is actually better than from other suppliers. As a vegetarian, it was especially nice for me to see a veggie version. Will be happy to come back :)

Nice, very good Takoyaki restaurant with various delicious Takoyaki, but also homemade onigiri and karaage. Also suitable for a snack. I recommend the original takoyaki with teriyaki sauce! Here you can eat comfortably alone or in small groups and have a good time. The staff are very friendly and respectful. Not all employees speak German, but that wasn't a problem for us. You order using a QR code and pay at the cash register after your meal. After eating, dirty dishes and cutlery must be brought to the return station next to the counter. The price-performance ratio is right. I'd love to come back and try the other types of takoyaki and the onigiri! 😊

We sat next to order desk and ordered with QR system.After waiting 20min we asked our order and they realised that they forgot our order even if it was ready :) as result it was served cold. Bad experience

Wonderful establishment! The Japanese atmosphere is clearly felt, the dishes look appetizing. And although somewhat unusual when you taste them for the first time, they are satisfying and tasty. Some dishes can be eaten outside, but, for example, ramen can only be eaten inside the establishment. Inside the establishment, the order takes place via telephone: you are given a card with a number, a barcode and instructions + the procedure is explained in German or English, so there should be no problems with this. I really liked the establishment, but due to my lack of knowledge of the language I couldn’t fully thank you, so I’ll leave a review here. I recommend!

The best takoyaki in Germany! Hot and tasty! Same goes for the onigiri! The personnel is very friendly and helps with everything if you need something. If you're around, even if it's just a few hours, you should visit for a quick snack!

If you like good Japanese street food, this is the place for you. The takoyaki are prepared in 3-4 different ways and they arrive at the table HOT every time. The karaage are nice and crispy and not dripping with fat. The onigiri are freshly prepared and therefore still warm. It's a little unusual, but still tastes good! Can recommend the yuzu tea. This is made with fresh yuzu fruits!

Not a Ramen place, finally. The atmosphere is really a Japanese street food place. The onigiri is excellent. From my point of view I find it is the best onigiri I have had in Europe, till now. I am a big onigiri fan. I find it a good alternative to sandwiches. In Europe onigiri is more expensive than in Japan. I imagine it has to do with the fact that it is not as common.

Did I expect too much... The octopus is tough and the inside of the takoyaki is undercooked and too soft(?)... Takoyaki ordered as an appetizer at a regular Japanese restaurant is more delicious.

The 10-euro rice ball set menu is so delicious🍙! The miso soup is delicious, the fried chicken is also very fresh, and there is a lot of salmon in the rice balls, which is delicious! ! !

Great shop! The owner and staff are very friendly and accommodating! The onigiri (as well as everything else) is freshly prepared in front of you. But you can also order ToGo. If you want a bowl like me, you have to pay 20 cents. But it's best to bring your own can. The store smells a lot like food; but you can also eat in front of the shop (bar tables and sitting)

As a big takoyaki lover, I'm so glad we have such a nice place in Dusseldorf. The staff is extra friendly and charming, and the takoyaki here taste exceptionally good. You can watch your takoyaki being cooked while waiting for your order

I've been to Takoyaki Teppachi four times so far. There onigiri is prepared fresh and warm. These are also very tasty, but on two of my visits the onigiris were too salty. The onigiri set with miso soup and karaage was highly recommended. In addition, the employees are all very friendly!

Loved everything from ordering system with qr code, to service and atmosphere. Very filling and delicious takoyaki. However try to come during the week as weekends are extremely crowded even on Sundays.
