Best Indian restaurant I've been to

We received a very warm welcome, and the food was delicious. We'd love to come back if we ever come to Lübeck again 🙂

The food is great and the waiters are very friendly. The waiters even gave us a spoonful of fennel to help with digestion. My colleague had a bit of a stomach ache afterward.

We had a lovely dinner at Taj Mahal, Lübeck. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. They were especially kind and friendly with our children, which made the whole experience even better. The food was delicious — I especially loved the chicken vindaloo, which was full of flavor and just the right amount of spice. But the real surprise was the mango tiramisu — it was heavenly! A perfect twist on a classic dessert. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic Indian food with warm hospitality. We’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in town!

The staff treated us so awesome and where very friendly and attentative with a humorous touch. This is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at as far as customer service in Germany. Super awesome!!!!

What an insider tip! I discovered it by chance sometime ago, but then never ate anywhere else in Lübeck again! The curries come in wonderful sauce boats heated with warmers to keep things hot, the portions are more than generous, the prices are absolutely reasonable (starter, two main courses, and drinks just under €40), and the dips? A dream. I recommend trying the starters and eating the curries; they're definitely worth a visit and a special evening!

We eat Indian food OFTEN!! It was GREAT here. On top of that, the people were very nice—what more could you want? Oh yeah, they even asked how spicy you'd like it beforehand... TOP!

A wonderful Indian family restaurant! The atmosphere is very pleasant, the staff attentive and friendly—the service is first-class. We were particularly impressed by the chicken tikka masala—incredibly delicious! And the mango tiramisu is a real discovery, a culinary highlight. We'll definitely be back!

Tasty food, and super friendly staff!

The food was reasonably priced and delicious. The service was attentive, and the music was at the perfect volume. Not too loud, not too quiet.

The food is good and the service very attentive. I've enjoyed coming here for years and can only recommend it. It's easy to park down by the canal and then walk to the restaurant. Same-day reservations are also possible, and I've never been unable to get a table.

Food was boring, tasted of nothing

For me, this is still the best Indian restaurant in Lübeck! The ambiance may be rather simple, but the food and service are simply top-notch!

We found out about this restaurant by chance. A table was prepared in an extremely friendly manner and the food was delicious! Above all, the two nice ladies who served us were incredibly hospitable! Without question recommended!

The service we received yesterday was really nice and the food was really delicious. I got a Chicken tandoori and the husband a butter chicken as well as naan with garlic and of course raita and rice. It all tasted simply perfect. Sweetest waiters and quick service. Nice place.

Very disappointing! Most dishes with a sauce taste almost the same: few spices (they are expensive), tomato paste, cream, a few cashews, a little ginger... Simply bland, boring and loveless. Even the rice (side dish) is just a cheap basmati with a few additives. Anyone who has been to India or at least been to a good Indian restaurant knows that things really need to be improved here. The staff was friendly.

We asked whether everything was OK and whether the food tasted good. And the food was very, very tasty. What more could you want? Can only be recommended.

The second time in two months. I summarize: 1. Saffron was mentioned on the rice special and was highly praised, but it was not present. And we have known the great Persian taste for decades. It's also very expensive if you want to buy the really good one. 2. Too few vegetables and ingredients in the dishes. You can see that savings are being made. Too much sauce too. Doesn't have to be. 3. General Indian taste with herbs not really present. It lacks a certain flair and India offers so many beautiful spices and herbs. 4. Not enough vegetarian dishes. 5. Too expensive for little food. Overall: Grade 4- That's why we were here for the last time. Too bad.

I had the great pleasure of visiting the Taj Mahal and it was without a doubt one of the best gastronomic experiences of my life. This restaurant is not just a place to eat but a journey through the diverse and aromatic flavors of India. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by a warm, spicy scent that immediately made me look forward to the meal ahead. The interior was tastefully designed with traditional Indian elements that created a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. The service was first class. The staff were friendly, attentive and were able to explain each dish on the menu in detail. The personal touch was particularly impressive - I had the feeling that the employees were really passionate about what they were doing. And now to the most important part: the food. Every bite was a feast for the senses! The menu offered an impressive variety, from creamy curries to perfectly grilled tandoori. I particularly recommend the Butter Chicken – tender chicken in a velvety tomato sauce that was seasoned to perfection. Vegetarians also get their money's worth here: the paneer tikka masala was an absolute highlight, as were the freshly baked naan breads, which served as the perfect side dish. What particularly impressed me was the authenticity of the dishes. The spices were excellently balanced so that the flavors melded together harmoniously without overpowering. You can tell that people cook with heart here. For the quality and experience on offer, the prices are more than fair. The portions are generous and every penny is well spent. Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 / 5

We were there on New Year's Eve. The service was outstanding, it goes without saying that orders are remembered and not written down. The food was outstanding, a taste explosion of different herbs and spices and so good that we ordered an extra portion to take away. All in one: if you like Indian food or want to try it, then right there!

The food test is good but the quantity is not enough.

If you have never had Indian food before, then you might like the food. But if you know the original taste of Indian Cuisines, then it's better to skip this restaurant and find a better one. We ordered Samosa's and Pakoras for starters. Samosa only had the filling of Potatoes and Peas. And Pakoras had little to nothing vegetable and a huge chunk of Chickpea flour. The main dish, I had was Chicken Tikka masala, which was completely bland. And my friend had Vegetable Biryani with a lot of Cinnamon. I cook tastier biryani at home. For dessert, we had Rasmalai. The milk balls were either mixed with starch or something because I have never eaten a harder Rasgulla before. And the cream was really thin and watery. I am not sure if the cooks working have any idea of how Indian food really tastes like. Eating here is a complete waste of money. The best thing that I was happy with was Fanta.

Had a very tasty lunch. Inexpensive. Chicken Schole for 7.50. At lunchtime, this is definitely a great alternative compared to the incredibly high snack and kebab prices. 🙂 Bonus: When I paid, I saw a handwritten “Thank you” with a smiley face on the receipt. 🙂🙂

GREAT SERVICE!!! A lot of others could learn something from that! Was invited inside by a very nice and smiling woman...and subsequently a very polite man. The food arrived no more than 10 minutes after we had ordered and it was delicious and tasty, although my butterchicken was a bit tame. We had a starter, main course and dessert for DKK 500 which was a very reasonable price for all the food and drink we got. We can definitely recommend this restaurant because of the fantastic service, speed and food/drinks.

We ate at the Taj Mahal on the recommendation of friends. We had been planning this for a while, now we did it. The ambience is simple: wooden tables and chairs, few table decorations, no tablecloth, discreetly decorated with Indian figures, etc. The most important thing: it's clean. The service was youthful and always helpful. Our chosen dishes: Pappadam, an Indian rice chip with sauce as a starter to try out of curiosity, Lamb Tikka, salmon pieces of lamb from the tandoor oven and Mixed Grill is lamb, chicken breast fillet and chicken thighs grilled in a tandoor oven. We chose naan bread once and rice once. Everything was beautifully presented on a hot dish and tasty. The sauces served with it were tasty, one a bit spicy. Some of us gave us a second helping when we asked. We were a little surprised that there was no saffron rice but white rice. But that wasn't a big deal for us. All in all, we enjoyed our visit to the Taj Mahal and will visit it again.

Delicious authentic food, super friendly hosts and a varied menu. The main courses come with naan bread or rice. For dessert there is sweetened fennel seeds from the house as a greeting - something special.

In order not to judge too quickly, we committed ourselves to ordering from Taj Mahal twice. Once in Lübeck and the other time in Plön. Compared to other restaurants, such as Nandoo in the Haerder Center, or Masala Darbar in Aegidienstrasse (both in Lübeck), the food wasn't necessarily special. Once the price is taken into account, I would personally expect much better quality. The second time we ordered ducks in Plön No. 25 and 26 and unfortunately received both plates with dry chicken. For 14.90 a plate I also didn't expect such a feller and such quality.

Como vegetarianos, me alegro de que no hubiera tanto para elegir del menú : ) tomamos el Palak Paneer + Alu Gobi y la sopa de lentejas fueron absolutamente increíbles. incluso el desierto (Mango tiramisú) era espectacular. El servicio es superior que tenemos desde hace mucho tiempo.
