Sweet Chilli in Dortmund

The worst experience with worst food ever. Not even worth a penny. Had to wait for 45mins for the food to arrive and when the food arrived it was the worst food I had in my life ever!! We ordered 4 dishes and all them were worst. The food is not worth the cost. There was no salt....no taste... nthng.... It is better to get supplies from TTS Asian market, cook and eat at home

Great Place to have Sri Lankan food in Dortmund. To start with the whole street was a surprise to us as it felt like being in a different country. It is lined up with many Sri Lankan Stores/Restaurants across the street. The Restaurant seems small from outside but has a very large capacity once you are inside. We tried many Breakfast items and my personal favorite would be Paniyaram and Chicken Kothu Paratha. All the items were served warm. This is probably the only place where none of the items disappointed us. The staff were friendly and explained us different dishes on the menu for a good suggestion. Only downside is the wait time for food once order is placed. It was a little higher but this might be due to our visit being on a Public holiday that fell on a long weekend.

Highly recommended for fans of Indian cuisine. The food was very authentic, plentiful, and delicious. Very good value for money.

If there were six stars I would give them to Sweet Chilli. Absolute huge portions. Our table of 3 could not finish the 40€ order. The authenticity of the South Indian/Sri Lankan flavors is beyond anything I have tried outside of South Asia. The Kothu Roti, masala dosa, mutton biryani, vadai and Fish curry were our favorites. Homemade paan was a great surprise. මම ආපසු එන්නම්!

I have arrived to the restaurant with my family and 3 year old kid and ordered two dosa and waited for 45 mins , when I ask for the order, the supplier says he has lots of online order and asked me to wait. I can wait but I have a toddler with me. They could have served one dosa at least for considering the kid. Supplier says he don't consider the kid and I have to wait. Such a stupid management which spoiled my fine evening. If they can't serve food to people who come to restaurant and send food for online orders only then why this restaurant is open, to spoil our time?

If you don't know it, the atmosphere is a bit cold and simple, but that doesn't say anything about the food. It was tasty, hot and a good portion.

The food is the most authentic around: BUT the menus are disgustingly dirty, grease stained and having bare forearms on the assigned table tends to lead to a disgustingly sticky experience. The service doesn't seem to care about the cleanliness of the cards and tables. Disgusting. Sorry, as great as the food is.

Thankfully, all dishes marked as vegetarian on the menu are actually vegan. From the “vegetarian” dish of the day, to dosai, fruit curry. There are lots of great things including sweets. Especially the crispy squiggles in the display. What should be improved after the move: - (mobile) partitions between the tables as it is currently very noisy. - Ventilation in the basement / toilets - Online menu is still out of date. The new printed menu does not include drinks. The vegetarian dish of the day is missing there. - Change labeling of vegetarian dishes to vegan.

Der Besitzer hat gewechselt. Der freundliche Kellner, der uns seit Jahren bedient hat, ist jetzt Chef. Sehr gute Idee. Die anderen Bedienenden sind immer noch sehr nett. Zwei haben uns von ihrem Erlebnis mit der evangelischen Kirche berichtet. Es sind sehr nette und zugewandte Menschen. Wir danken!! Der neue Chef hat den Laden positiv weiterentwickelt. Es gibt einen neuen, indischen Koch, der die Karte erweitert hat. Wir essen dort seit Jahren und bei den Vorgängern seit Jahrzehnten. Wir haben im Lokal schräg gegenüber noch mit DM bezahlt. Das Sweet Chili ist "UNSER" Inder/Tamile! Das Essen ist authentisch und gut.

Unfortunately, it was very disappointing to have taken the long drive there. Waited more than 20 minutes for anyone to come to the table. Every now and then service staff would show up and try without any concept to bring me food that I hadn't ordered. I waited over 40 minutes to place my order and many of the guests who came after me had already finished their food. I was upset when I looked for a waiter to ask about my food. It was a disgrace that he asked in the kitchen and asked me to be patient for 5-10 minutes. I paid for my drink and left the store. More than 1 hour time gold plated. Definitely not again!!!

Tasty Srilankan style South Indian cuisine at Dortmund. we tried parotta and it was almost like our native food.. have to try other foods as well. Only concern, the restaurant is bit congested. Reasonable price for good food. It is located just next to Unionstr U-Bahn halt. Thus ease to reach by means of public transport. Try it, definitely you will enjoy it.

Amazing place to eat authentic south Indian food. Overall: delicious food, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. Would highly recommend: Dosa and idli Tip: for anyone who cannot handle very spicy food must request less spice level. The sambar and chutneys are otherwise very spicy 🔥🔥.

I don‘t get all the good reviews!!! We were there for 1,5 hrs just because the waiter needed 30mins to come to our table. The food took another 30mins, which is ok but the Kottu Rotti was not worth a penny. It was Sambar Rice without Rice but Rotti. Dusgusting, I paid 10€ for nothing!!! The food if my partner took longer, so we just packed it up and left! Never again and not worth it at all!!!

Large portion, after eating I got another portion to take away. Including dessert, drinks and a tip it was under €30. Absolutely good price performance. Delicious food and friendly staff. Here is recommended 😊

I've been waiting for my food for 2 hours and no reaction so don't go there

We had planned to go to Nandys but as it was closed we ended up at Sweet Chili - unfortunately a complete disappointment. Not only was the food poor in taste, it also gave all of us stomach problems. The service also left a lot to be desired. We had asked for yogurt several times, but it was only after the fifth time that it was finally brought to us. That was really annoying and spoiled the evening even more. The only bright spot: the ambience was nice and stylishly furnished. But that alone is not enough to offset the negative aspects. Conclusion: Unfortunately not a recommendation – neither for the food nor for the service.

I had the most amazing experience at Sweet Chilli 🌶️ Dortmund. The highlight of my meal was the big masala dosa, which was perfectly crisp on the outside and filled with a flavorful, authentic potato masala. Friendly staff who made sure everything was just right. If you're craving authentic South Indian food, this place is an absolute must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back for more! Highly recommended!

sweet Chilli is one of my favorite restaurants in Dortmund. Price-performance is unbeatable here and there is a great range of vegan and vegetarian dishes. My favorite dish is the dosa with three different vegetable curries and kottu roti, and the samosas are also very tasty. the service is very friendly. There is now also a counter at the entrance where you can buy starters.

Were here for the first time, nice restaurant. Service was good and the food was very tasty. We'll be back.

I have never been as excited as I was in this restaurant. 1. great service 2. is always freshly prepared 3. incredibly tasty (if you can tolerate spicy) 4. Atmosphere is great 5. Little insider tip from me, once you've finished eating, try the little things from the counter right at the entrance.

Excellent vegetarian & vegan food, but also good options for carnivores. Relaxed and child-friendly atmosphere. Special recommendation: Add one of the starters because it's good and cheap, even if the main portions are so plentiful that we have something packed every now and then.

We were there for dinner last night. 2 adults and 2 kids. It took a long time to take order. Lassi and mutton roll was good. After that it was worst experience, our main food didn’t arrive for a long time, after 60 mins I have to reconfirm my order. The wait was waste roti was like blanket kids could not eat. In chicken briyani a piece of fried chicken which was too much fried and tasted very bad. Very upsetting . Chicken Kothu roti was okay. Not recommended for families with kids.

No words, customers have to wait, no order will be placed. We wanted to order food there but we were ignored. A group that arrived later than we were already seated was served first. We were still waiting. The other guests' starters were prepared in peace and no one came to our table to take our orders. This has happened several times now. We got up and left the restaurant.

Very strange shop. Had 3 different waitresses who mixed things up a lot and completely forgot a dish. Quality of the food is rather average. The salt lassi was a glass of spiced long-life milk. Knew...

I was actually very happy to eat halal Indian/Sri Lankan cuisine and according to their menu the meat is 100% halal, but alcohol is sold with the drinks, which is why I don't trust the restaurant, which is a shame. You should decide if alcohol or 100% halal (and I don't mean meat).

After eating in the restaurant, I had major physical discomfort. I thought you can't go wrong with dosai, sambar and sambal, but I was wrong. Me and my family's food was a disaster. The taste of the others' food was unappetizing, but my food was broken (pulichidu). You can't offer something like that to a guest in a restaurant. It wasn't the first time something like this happened. If you don't want to get sick, eat somewhere else.

It's a shame, Kottu Rotti doesn't taste like it used to. It is prepared much more economically. Hardly any vegetables and an extremely long waiting time. We don't order here anymore.
