Large portion, after eating I got another portion to take away. Including dessert, drinks and a tip it was under €30. Absolutely good price performance. Delicious food and friendly staff. Here is recommended 😊

We had planned to go to Nandys but as it was closed we ended up at Sweet Chili - unfortunately a complete disappointment. Not only was the food poor in taste, it also gave all of us stomach problems. The service also left a lot to be desired. We had asked for yogurt several times, but it was only after the fifth time that it was finally brought to us. That was really annoying and spoiled the evening even more. The only bright spot: the ambience was nice and stylishly furnished. But that alone is not enough to offset the negative aspects. Conclusion: Unfortunately not a recommendation – neither for the food nor for the service.

I had the most amazing experience at Sweet Chilli 🌶️ Dortmund. The highlight of my meal was the big masala dosa, which was perfectly crisp on the outside and filled with a flavorful, authentic potato masala. Friendly staff who made sure everything was just right. If you're craving authentic South Indian food, this place is an absolute must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back for more! Highly recommended!

sweet Chilli is one of my favorite restaurants in Dortmund. Price-performance is unbeatable here and there is a great range of vegan and vegetarian dishes. My favorite dish is the dosa with three different vegetable curries and kottu roti, and the samosas are also very tasty. the service is very friendly. There is now also a counter at the entrance where you can buy starters.

Were here for the first time, nice restaurant. Service was good and the food was very tasty. We'll be back.

I have never been as excited as I was in this restaurant. 1. great service 2. is always freshly prepared 3. incredibly tasty (if you can tolerate spicy) 4. Atmosphere is great 5. Little insider tip from me, once you've finished eating, try the little things from the counter right at the entrance.

Very strange shop. Had 3 different waitresses who mixed things up a lot and completely forgot a dish. Quality of the food is rather average. The salt lassi was a glass of spiced long-life milk. Knew...

We were there for dinner last night. 2 adults and 2 kids. It took a long time to take order. Lassi and mutton roll was good. After that it was worst experience, our main food didn’t arrive for a long time, after 60 mins I have to reconfirm my order. The wait was waste roti was like blanket kids could not eat. In chicken briyani a piece of fried chicken which was too much fried and tasted very bad. Very upsetting . Chicken Kothu roti was okay. Not recommended for families with kids.

Excellent vegetarian & vegan food, but also good options for carnivores. Relaxed and child-friendly atmosphere. Special recommendation: Add one of the starters because it's good and cheap, even if the main portions are so plentiful that we have something packed every now and then.

No words, customers have to wait, no order will be placed. We wanted to order food there but we were ignored. A group that arrived later than we were already seated was served first. We were still waiting. The other guests' starters were prepared in peace and no one came to our table to take our orders. This has happened several times now. We got up and left the restaurant.

I was actually very happy to eat halal Indian/Sri Lankan cuisine and according to their menu the meat is 100% halal, but alcohol is sold with the drinks, which is why I don't trust the restaurant, which is a shame. You should decide if alcohol or 100% halal (and I don't mean meat).

After eating in the restaurant, I had major physical discomfort. I thought you can't go wrong with dosai, sambar and sambal, but I was wrong. Me and my family's food was a disaster. The taste of the others' food was unappetizing, but my food was broken (pulichidu). You can't offer something like that to a guest in a restaurant. It wasn't the first time something like this happened. If you don't want to get sick, eat somewhere else.

We had dinner here with the family today. We did have to wait a little longer. But the wait was worth it. The food was very tasty and varied. In addition, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely give it a try.

It's a shame, Kottu Rotti doesn't taste like it used to. It is prepared much more economically. Hardly any vegetables and an extremely long waiting time. We don't order here anymore.

I ended up here based on the reviews and was very positively surprised, as the reviews are often questionably positive. Not here! The service at lunchtime was very friendly, special requests were happily fulfilled, the chicken curry I ordered was excellent (the meat was tender, the spiciness was as desired) - ...actually the best thing I've been served in a long time. I will definitely come back!!!

Most of the items were tasty and the atmosphere is nice. Needs some improvement in the authenticity of certain dishes like biryani ,dosa. They also have a party space in the mezzanine floor which can be reserved for large gatherings.

NEVER AGAIN I ordered muttan briyani and what I got was rice and curry kotturotti that was black in taste and everything was missing. In the middle of the restaurant there was an employee driving a shopping cart. They didn't have dessert either.

Dieses Restaurant wirkte eher unscheinbar. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und die Inneneinrichtung war überraschend einladend. Die Karte hat Sri Lankanische und indische Küche. Wir hatten die 120 genommen. Die Portionen sind reichhaltig und ausreichend. Die Bedienung fragt vorher wie der Schärfegrad sein soll. Als Europäer empfiehlt sich weniger scharf zu nehmen. Essens technisch waren die Currys frisch. Man müsste mehrmals hingehen um alles zu probieren.

The overall Food was delicious and freshly made, it took a while for the food but it was all worth the wait. The negative part was there was only 1 waitress doing all the work taking orders, delivering the orders and paying. So a big thanks to that waitress. Must try Indian/sri lankan food 👍🥂

Extremely authentic south indian/ Sri lankan food. The portion sizes are generous and the price is very affordable. I always visit there during my trips to Dortmund. Plenty of vegetarian options as well. I can recommend the Kottu roti, idiyappam and rice plate.

Super tasty 😋 The employees are nice. Depending on where, there may be a longer waiting time for service. It's all worth the food and if it bothers you, just go to the counter and you'll be helped in no time. Unfortunately it is not completely barrier-free, the toilet is in the basement and the counter is also a few steps down.

The food tastes very tasty (which is the main thing). However, the owner is unfriendly and the seating is not very comfortable. More snack style. And I wasn't allowed to take my dog ​​in with me either. Then I'd rather go to one of the surrounding restaurants, where it's allowed and the service is friendlier.

We did take away as we had to travel back home. The sri lankan food that we ordered was up to the mark. The dosa was not very authentic Indian, more of a sri lankan thing, but too bad it wasn't served with chutney. The sambar didn't taste like one. The mango Lassi is the best I've had in Germany so far. We'll be going back again.

Very friendly service, large selection in general but especially of vegetarian and vegan dishes. And above all, just super, super delicious food. I have now tried many dishes and have always been very satisfied. The starters are also really tasty and the masala chai is great! :) The icing on the cake are the more than fair prices for really large portions. The ambience is ok, but the other points are so convincing and simply weigh more for me, so 5 out of 5 stars!

The food was very satisfying and in the Tamil style. But there wasn't enough meat in the order for collection. We agreed on a quantity for 13 people and in good time before pickup. When we got to dinner, we noticed that there was far too little food. When we called we were told the meal was for 6 people. Of course that wasn't agreed upon. After all, we had paid for 13 people. When asked for a receipt, there was also a reminder of an additional charge.

The telephone operator was incompetent and could not communicate properly. The quantity ordered was not identical to the delivery - far too little for an overpriced price. Racist reasons were given in the complaint/feedback (quote: "We thought you were German, so fewer than usual")

We were a group of five people who visited this restaurant. Da vi skulle bestille, kunne vi ikke bestille half av det som stod på menyen, det meste var utsolgt. Det eneste vi kunne bestille var biriyani eller kotthu, så vi bestille det. Maten kom ikke før etter en time, noe vi syntes var for drøyt. Når vi fikk maten servert så kunne vi heller ikke spise det, fordi det var too strong og saltete. Når vi gikk og klaget på maten så lyttet ingen av medarbeiderene der etter. Vi sa vi ikke kunne spise det her. Og mente at vi ikke kunne betale full pris på maten, siden vi ikke kunne spise opp alt. Men Eieren var vargäs kverulerende og frekk, han mente at vi görer det for å slippe betale for maten. Han nektet å høre på oss og vi mette betele full pris på mat som vi ikke kunne spise. I have never experienced such bad service at this restaurant. We encourage all til å styre unna denne restaurant. Det er 0 service der. Maten smacker is rubbish. Hadde det vert null stars hadde vi gitt det. 15 of us went here. When going to order food, we couldn't order everything because half of the menu was empty or sold out. We could only order biryani or khutu, so we did. It took an hour for the food to arrive at the table. When we got the food served, we couldn't eat it either because it was too strong or too salty. When we went and complained about the food, none of the staff there listened. We said we cannot eat here. We thought we couldn't pay the full price because we couldn't eat the whole meal. But the owner was very rude and believed that we were doing this to avoid paying for the food. He refused to listen to us and we had to pay full price for food we couldn't eat. We have never had such a bad dining experience at this restaurant. We encourage everyone to stay away from this restaurant. There are 0 services. Food tastes like garbage.

Authentic and delicious!!!! A small note in advance: if you want to eat something different from the country, you have to get involved with the dishes! I ordered for pickup and I'm just thrilled! I wanted it spicy and I got it spicy! All these spices and flavors are a celebration for the taste buds! I love it when food is prepared like it is “at home” and not how the masses like it! This is authentic! This is real! I can recommend every dish that comes from Sri Lanka! I ordered Dhosai with chicken and once with beef to pick up. And Piddu with fish curry! Simply a pleasure!!!!

I went to Sweet-Chilli on a recommendation. I follow a vegan diet and love trying out restaurants that have vegan dishes on the menu. We were there on Sunday around 2 p.m. I liked the menu and chose a dish and ordered it from the waitress. The lady said “Vegan dishes are only available from 6 p.m.”!! There is no explanation for this for me. Completely vegan unfriendly!!!!

It was not busy, but there was a wait for eveything. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to even come to our table to take our order. It took over another 15 minutes just to get a glass of water. Then it took over an hour to get the food. There was even a wait to pay. The waitress told us it would be a long wait for all the food and that they would even have to peel all the vegetables for whatever we chose. I get cooking fresh, but why not have the vegetables prepped? The portions are very large, but the food was inconsistent. The appetizers were cold, yet other dishes were scalding hot. The cassava was not cooked through. It was hard, yet other vegetables were soggy. They didn't have any mutton, but the beef briyani was good. Many tables were not cleared off. They just sat there dirty. The reason for most of these issues was that there was only one young girl working. She was the only one taking orders, serving food, and taking care of payments. She was clearly very stressed. There were two men walking around, but they did nothing.

Good Service and atmosphere But food is Good not great and value for money.

We were there with a larger group, around 25 people, the food was obviously freshly prepared, but still arrived quickly. The drinks too, although if there was frequent demand, the egg or other drink could have been sold more. The billing also went excellently, and some restaurateurs are welcome to take a lesson from that.

Das Essen ist leider nicht so lecker und frisch und Qualität hat sehr nachgelesen... die Wartezeit auf dad Essen ist nicht akzeptabel. Zu lange da vergeht einem der Hunger

Essen war richtig lecker. Bedienung auch sehr freundlich. Nur ein wenig mehr Infos zu dem Essen wären spannend. Teilweise weiß man nicht was das gerade für ein Curry ist. Preis Leistung ist bombastisch. Über 60 Minuten Wartezeit nach der Vorspeise ist noch ausbaufähig.

Da wir gerade erst aus Sri Lanka wieder gekommen sind, wollten wir gerne auch in unserer Heimatstadt ein Restaurant mit Spezialitäten aus Sri Lanka testen. Leider war das Essen überhaupt nicht vergleichbar und hat unserer Meinung nach nichts mit der landestypischen Küche zu tun. Auch die Frische, die hier jemand geschmeckt haben will, kann ich nicht bestätigen. Die Curries wurden lediglich schnell aufgewärmt. Alles in allem waren wir sowohl vom Ambiente und dem Essen, als auch vom Service (keine Bezahlung am Tisch) enttäuscht und werden nicht wieder kommen. Hunde sind hier übrigens nicht willkommen. Ein weiterer Minuspunkt für mich!

2 mal vegetarisches Reisgericht bestellt zum mitnehmen. Hat verfault geschmeckt, Es riechte noch sehr schlecht !!! So eine Frechheit, Alle Bauchschmerzen gehabt! Auf keinem Fall zum empfehlen. Da wird aufjedenfall auch noch Rücksprache gehalten !!! Würde am besten 0 Sterne geben

Es tut mir sehr leid bin sehr enttäuscht, durch das Essen(Kottu Rotti) habe ich eine Lebensmittelvergiftung bekommen. An dem Tag wo ich es auf dem Teller bekommen habe hat das Fleisch gestunken. Es machte viel aus..

Von Außen wirkt es Modern und Groß, leider kein Empfang, dass man erst Doof rumsteht und sich dann einfach hinsetzt. Es macht sich auch keiner bemerkbar, ob Gast oder Mitarbeiter ist für mich als Kunde nicht zu erkennen. Service war Nett, Höflich und kompetent. Essenskarte gut zu verstehen und Fragen werden direkt beantwortet. Cool ist, dass man seine Hände direkt oben waschen kann ohne in den WC Bereich gehen zu müssen. WC Anlage sehr sauber und gut gepflegt. Das Essen habe ich vegetarisch gewählt, ausnahmsweise . Leider muss ich sagen m, dass es meinen Gaumen nicht befriedigt hat. Vermutlich sind wir Europäer für die Gewürze und Schärfe nicht gemacht, habe Magen- Darm Probleme bekommen . Würde ich es empfehlen ? Leider Nein, Parkplätze sehr schlecht zu finden und die Gegen leider ziemlich runter gekommen und von Armut stark betroffen .

Essen ist immer super lecker, frisch und Preis/Leistung unschlagbar. Wenn das Restaurant voll ist, kann es mal etwas lauter sein und der Service länger brauchen, aber das ist auch völlig OK. Wir kommen immer gern wieder.

Der Umzug in die neuen Räumlichkeiten hat dem Restaurant nicht gut getan. Die Küche scheint mit dem größeren Kundenaufkommen nicht standhalten zu können. Die Gerichte haben eine beliebige Austauschbarkeit mit jedem x-beliebigen Inder, in jeder beliebigen Stadt in Deutschland. Geht man die Karte beim Bestellen mit dem Kellner durch, hört man immer häufiger, dass das jeweilige Gericht nicht zur Verfügung steht. Im alten, kleinen Sweet Chilli, hatte der Senior Chef immer seinen wachsamen Blick auf die Küche und den Service. Dieser strenge, wachsamen Blick wird sehr vermisst. Schade, ein Besuch im Sweet Chilli ist bei einem Besuch in Dortmund kein Muss mehr. Zeit nach Alternativen Ausschau zu halten.

Leider bekommt man trotz der Anmerkung "mild" und "nicht scharf" gewürzt, Essen, das total scharf ist. Habe mindestens 5 Chilischoten Stücke rausgefischt.

Ich bin durch Zufall zum sweet Chilli gekommen. Aber wie man schon im Urlaub sagt, gehe dort essen , wo die einheimischen auch essen gehen. In diesem Fall Gäste aus Srilanka. Das Essen war frisch zubereitet, nicht zu scharf, in angenehmen Ambiente. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis passt auch. Also ich kann es nur empfehlen. Bis zum nächsten Mal.
