In the past, when I regularly ate here on Saturdays and the restaurant was a real insider tip, it felt like you were immersed in the dazzling world of Sri Lanka without even having to step foot on a plane. This is where Tamil cuisine is at its best. The meal was a poem, and every bite was a verse that caressed the taste buds. The dishes - an explosion of flavors and colors - were so good that I almost felt like I was trapped in a culinary novel written by a master chef who is also a poet. The curries had the power to transport you to a warm day on a palm-fringed beach, with the gentle breeze blowing away the worries of everyday life. But time is a merciless companion, and so I noticed that the former 5-star quality has faded a little into the background. The final experience at Nandy's was still good, but it was no longer the heady sensory feast that I had loved so much. The curries, which once appeared on the plate like an oriental masterpiece, seemed a little less bright, the spices no longer quite as perfectly balanced. Nevertheless, among the Tamil restaurants in Dortmund, Nandy's remains the best. The atmosphere is still warm and inviting, and the service strives to convey the feeling of hospitality one would expect from a good restaurant. It's like a little oasis of spices in a world of fast food chains, a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of life for a moment. So if you're in Dortmund and are craving a Sri Lankan bite, Nandy's Tamil Foods is definitely worth a visit. It may not have the 5-star quality of the old days, but it's still a place where you feel like you're experiencing something special - and that's part of why we eat out, right?

Unfortunately, our visit to the restaurant was marred by the rude behavior of the Tamil waitress. She seemed very impatient when we placed our order and showed little understanding when we had questions about the dishes. Instead of friendly advice, we felt like we should be processed quickly. Unfortunately, this type of service does not make for a pleasant visit to a restaurant. The food was good, but the service unfortunately negatively affected the experience.

I love Nandy's! You can't get anything more authentic in Dortmund and certainly not at such a price. I have now eaten my way through many of the dishes and my conclusion is: the Tamil dishes from Sri Lanka are clearly the tastiest. Makes sense too! The Indian dishes are not traditional, often with an unnecessary amount of cream that doesn't belong there, but I don't expect Neapolitan pizza at a kebab shop. If you focus on the Tamil dishes you won't be disappointed. For me, the prices are unbeatable and the portions are huge.

We have been going to this place since 5 years now and never had any complaints till today. There was a srilankan waitress who apparantly doesn't like or is jealous of other hindu ladies who do not speak tamil because as soon as me and my husband told her we do not understand tamil, her behaviour became very rude and unprofessional. I have read the same complaint in the reviews from indian customers. This clearly indicates that this waitress has issues with non tamilian women with the same skin colour as her or she simply hates her job She got irritated very easily each time i ordered something. I ordered 3 teas but she brought only 2. When i told her that i ordered 3, she very rude and argued that i hadn't. Finally when she brought the 3rd tea, it was hygienically not drinkable.

Very good Tamil and Indian cuisine. The perfect fast food. Order, pick up...max 15 minutes. The store is a little dull and sometimes there is a problem with the language. But the food is premium.

After ordering the food I had a real diarrhea, my entire family had a real diarrhea, so you could do something better for the price, I paid €120 for nothing, you should see what you can do better, yes, it's really unfortunate Unfortunately, it's really a shame

We found Nandy's Tamil Foods thanks to To good to Go. The food was great, the place was very clean, the employees were all very, very friendly. We'll definitely be back.

I really enjoy going to Nandy’s and trying out the different dishes. But my favorite remains the samosas. I also like the furnishings, which are tastefully discreet. One more piece of advice: Hot is really hot😅. The prices are really reasonable and the employees are really nice.

Food tastes good in itself. When it gets very busy, you as a customer are forgotten and not noticed. Unfortunately prices have risen significantly. On Sundays it's packed and you can't eat on site.

Me and my wife were there on July 27th, 2024 at around 4-4:30 p.m. When you enter the restaurant you have a negative feeling. The employee has not learned to greet customers. We had to shout to get the staff's attention (a skinny girl with darker hair and skin was there). The seat is warm and stuffy. Even if you ignore everything and sit down to eat, you'll sweat like hell because the ventilation in the back is very poor. The quality of the food is averagely good. I asked for Kerala paratha, she served a completely different paratha. Anyway, when the employee was asked to pack the rest of the food, she threw the empty pack at us to pack ourselves. Last but not least, after paying the bill, she throws the bill at my wife at the counter, which is absolutely unacceptable. Maybe the customers who belong to the same caste and religion as this employee will get a little more respect. But for the rest of the customers, it is a miserable experience. The girl who served us definitely needs to be corrected in her behavior.

Unfortunately, quality, service and taste have declined. There were leftovers from previous guests under the tables. The sink in the toilet was also covered in leftover food. The whole thing led to my appetite quickly disappearing. The chicken was not edible because it was so dry that it was already falling off the bones.

Too Good To Go: We like to pick up food here via the app. The staff is super friendly :). The food is super delicious. Each time there was a good, large portion of curry with rice and vegetables and a baked side dish. The side dish is sometimes sweet and sometimes spicy. We'd love to come back. Even without Too Good To Go. :)

Best Tamil food, very tasty and very authentic and at a great price. I would recommend it to everyone. I am a regular customer myself. As a Turk, I am positively surprised that HELAL is also cooked and my wife is a Tamil and even she likes it very much.

The food is rather average and cannot be compared with the previous owner's cuisine. Our starters consisting of samosa and vadai were poorly seasoned, my rotti in the main course was too solid and dry.

Not recommended, we waited 4 hours for food and now we all have poisoning from the food!!!

The food was tasty and we are very satisfied with the service. There is classic Tamil food and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

The quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. The takeaway food seems to be just warmed up food. Some of the chicken rolls had pieces of grilled chicken in them because it was very likely that leftovers were used. It's a shame that the quality doesn't match the prices.

The restaurant is located in an area with a dense Indian settlement. The best Indian restaurant in the area. Prices are affordable. The products are very delicious and of high quality. The kitchen and restaurant are clean and hygienic. You can either eat at the venue or take it away. You should definitely stop by.

We made our foray into Tamil cuisine using the “To good to go” app. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our surprise bags, which contained dry fried rice with vegetables and a pastry each. Even though we only had to pay 4.00 euros each, we were too weak for the spiciness of the food. We also expected something other than just a side dish. Unfortunately it was way too spicy for our taste. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The food was great as always! Unfortunately I have to deduct a point because the young waitress booked and billed me for my drink twice. Unfortunately, I only noticed this when I got home because I was surprised at the price and asked for a receipt. What a shame!

About Too Good To Go: You get a bowl of food and a side dish. I got a thaler that was extremely dry (I recently ate them somewhere else and they were softer). Everything is mixed up in the bowl. For me: chopped dosai, these mini noodles, some vegetable curries mixed in and I found a tiny piece of meat (beef or lamb) and dahl. Everything was really, really spicy. You can do it for 4 euros, but I don't think it's worth it.

Food is very tasty. I can only recommend. The two women at the service are not nice. The men in service are very nice but the women don't work at all.

An insider tip for dishes from Tamil cuisine! I've eaten here several times, but before that I'd always gotten finger food to take away. The food tastes delicious, the atmosphere is nice, the service is very friendly and the price-performance ratio is really very good! This time I was there with a friend who didn't know this place. We both felt very comfortable and left more than satisfied. We will certainly come back! Thanks! :-)

What can I say? If I lived in Dortmund, I would come here at least three times a week.

Ich muss leider sagen, dass die Qualität sehr nachgelassen hat. Auch von euren Zutaten und auch geschmacklich nicht mehr so, wie es mal war. Preise erhoben, aber Quantität (weniger ) und Qualität ( schlechter ) geworden. Wir werden nicht mehr dort hingehen, da auch Hygienisch auch bisschen nachgelassen hat

Leckeres authentisches Essen freundliche Leute

It was such a bad experience for me and my family. I have requested the staff to prepare the food with less spice level. Despite mentioning they didnt even care to even show that they want to pay attention, we were served spicy food with very bad quality of meat due to which we suffered stomach issues. Very bad customer service and staff attitude was very bad for Indian customers, especially when a customer from Srilanka (in their mother tongue) is also in the queue he/she will be given priority over Indians even you have to give away your turn upto 4 or 5 times until they feel like ready to take your order. Requesting Indian customers to be very cautious as their service is highly discriminating and very very rude. You may even be asked to leave the premises or get insulted in front of other customers. Good place for Third world experiences and insults in Dortmund, Germany!!!

Nandy's Tamil Foods recently organised my Ph.D defense afterparty catering and what an amazing service! Tasy Indian food was beautifully presented. They even considered my little requests, like on how I wanted my dishes, even modified one of the recipes on my request which was really sweet of them. I highly recommend Nandy's as a catering service. Many many thanks for making my important and special day even more special for me. :)

Wir waren spontan letzte Woche bei Nandys in Dortmund essen, das war der Hammer. Wir waren vor kurzem in Indien, das Essen ist sowie im Süden Indiens. Wir haben Kothu Rotti und Biryani probiert, es war sehr lecker. Das Problem war nur, dass man lange auf das Essen warten musste, sogar auf die Getränke musste man lange warten. Ansonsten super!

Echte tamilische Küche zu wirklich fairen Preisen! Frische Lebensmittel werden verwendet und man schmeckt es auch. Der Masalatee sowie der srilankische Kaffee ist ein absolutes Muß!! Hierfür fährt man auch ein paar Kilometer, nur um in den Genuss des echten tamilischen Geschmacks zu kommen!

Rolls very good. Vegi Rolls taste was anda maaari. Samosa was nice. Vadai was very big like a CD but tasty! We thought this cute german service-lady brings us a CD but it was a damn Vadai!! and very tasty! Paruppu soup could be done better. Lentils soup is actually done creamy and not Paruppu curry with a lot of water but it was still very tasty! So moddama Suuuper mameeey we will come back! 😍

Kleiner Laden mit Charme. Nettes Personal, dass sehr aufmerksam und höflich arbeitet. Essen schmeckt traditionell tamilisch. Super authentisch und köstlich. Auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen für kleine Gruppen. PS: Ich empfehle Snacks von dort mitzunehmen. Sind wirklich lecker. 🙂

Wollte Mal wieder hin nach fast 1 Jahrzehnt. Wollte nach einem Gericht ( Vorspeise) fragen bis jetzt keine Antwort. Sonnst alles 5 Sterne super Essen

Honestly, it was a bit of a let down. In the sense that it feels like a europenised place. Asked for a couple of traditional dishes, did not have then. While food was good, it was nothing special. Place is clean and rather new, which was however a good surprise. Staff felt a bit overwhelmed by the customers, however we were there at evening peak time, around 19:00. Decent overall experience.

Sowohl vor Ort, als auch zum Mitnehmen Top Laden! Für den kleinen und schnellen Hunger sind die Samosas, Rolls und Rottis aus der Auslage sehr zu empfehlen. Auch für Veganer ist eine gute Auswahl vorhanden.

Bestellen hier öfter für Firmenevents, sehr leckeres Essen und freundlicher Service zugleich. Daumen hoch!

Ein nettes kleines Restaurant mit authentischer tamilischer und indischer Küche. Nette Bedienung. Ein Geheimtipp (für den, der ein bisschen scharfes Essen mag) im Zentrum des tamilischen Zentrums an der Rheinischen Straße.

Essen war okay, sehr scharf auch für tamilische Verhältnisse. Leider wurde das schmutzige Geschirr neben uns nicht abgeräumt obwohl kaum was los war. Einrichtung insgesamt sehr schön.

Worst service !! They treat customers like beggers. Food is also very average. Today, me and my husband went there to eat. They didn't even come and take order for more than half an hour. Then we stood up and ordered for take away. They gave after the food 45 minutes. All the customers who came with us went away. We were standing like anything. I don't recommend this restaurant. I won't be going there here after.

Moin, nach dem tollen Beitrag von Silke, mussten wir gestern spontan das Nandys TamilFoods in der Annenstraße probieren. Wir waren zu dritt und dachten uns, gegen 20 Uhr brauchen wir auch nicht mehr reservieren. Dort angekommen wurden wir freundlich empfangen und konnten uns einen Tisch aussuchen. Die Karte gab es nur mit einem QR Code auf dem Tisch, was nicht schlimm war, da alle dementsprechend bewaffnet waren. Vorab haben wir uns einen Masala Chai genehmigt, der schonmal sehr lecker war. Nach einigen Minuten durfte auch schon aufgeschrieben werden, was wir uns so ausgesucht haben. Leider gab es die Blumenkohl Pagoda nicht mehr, verständlich und diese Uhrzeit. Als Vorspeisen hatten wir dann Rolls, Samosa und Linsensuppe. Was mich sehr gefreut hat, endlich ohne Champignons essen ;) Die Linsensuppe hat uns sehr gefallen, viele tolle Gewürze und es wurde aufgegessen. Das gleiche galt für die Rolls und Samosa. Unsere Begleitung meinte, es würde sogar noch einen Tick besser schmecken als bei Mayaas Express. Sei ihm gegönnt. Der Masala Chai war so gut, das wir direkt noch einen bestellt haben, diesmal wurde die Tasse sogar größer, was wir dankend angenommen haben. Bereits hier wurden wir schon gefragt, ob alles in Ordnung wäre und wie es schmeckt. Wunderbar durfte ich sagen. Im Hauptgang gab es dann für uns Butter Chicken, tamilisches Bryani und Lemon Rice Chicken. Ich sag euch, der Reis war so locker leicht fluffig, wenn er hätte schweben können, er hätte es zumindest versucht. Die Portionen waren genau richtig, aber auch wie schon Silke sagte, ein Gericht teilen mit Vorspeise ist mehr als genug, wir mussten hinterher einiges mitnehmen. Die Schärfe war on point und vor allem hat sie den Geschmack nicht beeinträchtigt. Diverse Curries luden zum Teilen ein. Schwer begeistert, rollten wir dann gen CU RestauBar und unser Trinkgeld machte den Service etwas verlegen. Hier hatte alles gepasst, satt aber nicht voll, noch auf dem Weg zum Auto haben wir uns beweihräuchert wie toll wir es ausgesucht haben. Klingt nach Wiederholungstat, die Karte gibt noch einiges her. Unsere Begleitung hat sich dann noch an der Theke für Zuhause eingedeckt, Vielesser halt. Es gibt also einen neuen Player nähe der Rheinischen und ich wage mal zu behaupten, dieser wird einige Kunden abzwacken, auch weil die Preise fast schon zu günstig sind.

Das Essen super. ABER trotz der Reservierung mussten wir mehr als 1 Stunde warten für die Getränke & Vorspeise. Das Aufnehmen der Getränke hat EXTREM viel Zeit Anspruch genommen!!! Aus diesem Grund verliert Nandys zwei Sterne. Es wäre toll, wenn man wenigstens, die Getränke & Vorspeise zeitnah serviert.

Wir sind sehr positiv vom Restaurant angetan. Das Essen schmeckt, wie gewohnt, sehr gut bei Nandys. Das Ambiente ist super, es läuft angenehme Hintergrund-Musik und man fühlt sich wohl. Die Mitarbeiter sind nett und freundlich. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder :)

Habe hier heute zum ersten Mal über To Good To Go einen Magic Bag abgeholt, hat alles gut geklappt. Ich war erst genau zum Ende der Abholzeit & Öffnungszeit um 21:00 da, was kein Problem war. Das Essen war lecker und ordentlich scharf, gerne wieder!

Zu teuer in Relation zu Qualität und Geschmack. Ich war dort exakt zweimal, zum ersten und letzten mal.

Das Essen war sehr trocken, da es in der Mikrowelle aufgewärmt wurde. Für diese Qualität war es viel zu teuer. Man hat total gemerkt, dass das Essen nicht frisch war. Im Allgemeinen war es nicht genießbar. Das wird unser letzter Besuch dort sein!
