Svaad - The Indian Kitchen in Düsseldorf

As an Indian I have searched a lot for good Indian food and in the end resorted to only cook Indian at home myself but by chance I was at svaad because my friends wanted to try an Indian restaurant and I had heard people recommend svaad and I can say it is one of the best Indian restaurants in Germany and also the biryani was so authentic that it was really wholesome to see good authentic real Indian food again. Also the naan was completely authentic Must try Chicken malai tikka Biryani Naan

Unfortunately, I didn't receive a refund even though the employee told me I would. The reason was an incorrect order. I won't be eating there again.

Delicious and authentic Indian food with excellent service.

The food tastes amazing, Gobi Manchurian and Biryani were very delicious. Paneer 65 was a bit dry. However the staff is not really friendly towards Indian people. Their behaviour was very cold. Please treat all the customers equally :)

A truly authentic culinary experience. The four of us ate here, and we were all thrilled. My wife and I love Indian cuisine, and this place was absolutely perfect. The value for money is fantastic. One thing I particularly appreciated was the aroma of the restaurant wafting from a distance, which I actually found quite appealing. The service was impeccable as well. Definitely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was very bad. The food was of poor quality and not fresh. The service was unfriendly and very slow. Furthermore, the restaurant wasn't clean, which was very disappointing. For the high price, I expected much more. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

We had a Great Indian food with very authentic taste! Chicken Majestic and Garlic Chicken are the best starters which i would definitely prefer if you like spicy and delicious starters. Their briyanis all were sooo delicious and i would definitely prefer chicken lollipop briyani (must try ones), everything was super tasty. Mango lassi and rasmalai were perfect to finish the meal. Definitely recommend if you’re craving real south Indian flavours in Germany!

I am a foody and I have been regularly dining at Svaad for the last 3 years. Both the hospitality and the food are great and they make me feel at home everytime I visit there. The Biryanis are the best, with a slight issue that the consistency can vary a bit from day-to-day, but even on bad day, svaad delivers and on good days, it is just amazing. Thus it might be hard to judge this place just based on a single visit, and I personally would recommend visiting it multiple. Perhaps you can go crazy like me and go there every weekend for 6 months in a row, because you are writing your thesis and can't travel to India.

The food was really good! I had the goat biriyani and they really used goat: not lamb or mutton! Rest of the food also tasted as it would back in India! We had Chicken Manchurian, paneer 65, mirchi bhaji, paneer butter masala, Lassi, and parata.

Whenever we visit Svaad, it’s like the best Indian food away from India. They have the best Biryani I can say in Germany. Also the Prawns are the best one which we tried recently.

Visited Svaad as a couple and had a wonderful dining experience. We ordered the samosa chaat, mango lassi, chicken biryani, and tandoori chicken — everything was absolutely top notch. The flavors were spot on, portions were generous, and the food was fresh and well presented. Each dish stood out, especially the biryani and tandoori chicken. Highly recommend Svaad for anyone looking for delicious, authentic food. We’ll definitely be back!

I lived in India for over a year and I have to say it's really difficult to find such authentic and affordable restaurants like this one. The food has real Indian spice (don't forget to ask for it) and the prices are fantastic. Not like in India (😉), but really fair and great for German restaurant prices. Finally, an authentic mango lassi again, and the food is so good!

This restaurant is a hidden gem. It is in a prime area and serves delicious chicken fried rice. The staff was extremely friendly and the dish was so yummy we also got a parcel for later. They said that the quantity will be enough for one person but it was pleasantly huuuuge in quantity. The parcel was also done perfectly. It was nicely packed in a carton box with raita and onions. It is a 100% must visit ,

I’m reasonably convinced the kitchen team has successfully removed the molecules responsible for taste from every ingredient. It’s truly a feat of science—food that looks like food, but tastes like a long, existential sigh. A special shout-out to our server, who has clearly perfected the art of looking directly through people as if they are made of glass. I’ve never seen someone work so hard to avoid doing their job.It’s rare to pay this much to feel like an uninvited party crasher in a half-empty restaurant.

The staff is quite friendly and attentive. The wait time is about 30 minutes, but it's worth it. The portion size is quite a lot (or a little more) for one person, and it's much better than what you get delivered. The food is spicy!!! But the taste is good! I'll definitely go again!👍👍

The server’s attitude made me wonder if they thought I’d come in asking for free food. The stress they put us through just to place an order was more intense than choosing a specialization for my master’s degree. And the chicken in the chicken fried rice, a true cameo role, brief, forgettable, and barely present. To sum up, if you enjoy a side of quiet critique with your food, this restaurant won’t disappoint.

It was an enjoyable Evening the food was nice tho the mini salad felt quite forced and did not fit the rest. I had Tikka Misala the flavour was outstanding and it was a comforting Evening. The service was a bit slow and since the place was packed it was rather loud. I would still say that the food was decent and worth checking out.

In my opinion, this is the best Indian food in Düsseldorf, probably even in North Rhine-Westphalia. I'm Indian myself and can highly recommend Svaad. The menu includes not only the usual dishes like Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo (which, by the way, aren't really authentic Indian anyway), but also genuine specialties from my region. The Biryani, Chicken Majestic, and Gongura Chicken are definitely worth trying if you want to sample something truly Indian that's rarely, if ever, offered in other restaurants. Plus, the value for money is excellent, especially with the generous portions. A real gem of a restaurant!

Frankly, the delays with Uber orders are really annoying now. The estimated delivery time is often inaccurate, and delays are happening more and more frequently. Hopefully, Uber is working on improving its service and punctuality.

Unfortunately, we will no longer order from here, whether for pickup or delivery. A waiting time of two hours or more is simply unacceptable. Especially when the order is initially quoted as 20-30 minutes, and then after payment, we receive information about a 1.5-hour delay, which is then adjusted again – we have cancelled the order!

Svaad” means taste in Hindi — and that exactly what this place is all about. Authentic flavors, bold spices, and not a single attempt to butter you up (unless it’s naan-related). The food? Delicious. Deeply seasoned, unapologetically Indian, and refreshingly un–Instagrammed.. The service? They know their food is good — maybe a little too well. Still, a smile here and there wouldn’t hurt the curry. Come for the taste (you really should), stay for… well,mostly for the taste!

We saw that the restaurant was very busy as we walked by, so we decided to go in. It was quite crowded during the dinner rush, and when they are full, the food may take a little longer to arrive, but it is absolutely worth the wait. Both the rice and the nan were super delicious. Worst experience I never faced.I visited many restaurants in India.I know the taste of Hyderabad biryani as I am from Hyderabad.But it is not UpTo the mark.People are giving over hyped.So many people told that biryani will be good in Svaad restaurant at dusseldorf.The service is also not that much good.At the end I asked for a discount.I went with my friends we are 6 of total.If they don't want to give any discount then they need to say we don't have any such discount.But they were very rude.They said that they are paying 65% tax.If 20 people will come to the restaurant then they will give 13euros biryani to 10 euros.If any party will happen then they will give discount.They said like that.I felt very bad with their behavior.Why they treat customers like that I didn't understand UpTo now.Even though food is ok but their behavior is not good.

My end for best Biriyani in Germany ended with Svaad

Have had here before but this time it was a bit disappointing to see how they prepped butter chicken and chicken korma. Coming from India, these are dishes which shouldn't be difficult to replicate. Still loved the service of the bearer and the atmosphere hence rated accordingly.

Waiting of our food was a bit longer than expected and the design of the place is lacking atmosphere at all. However, the general impression is still positive

By far the closest to authentic Indian taste among all the restaurants I've visited in Germany so far. This place was recommended by a friend, and I must say, it was totally worth it! The flavors were spot-on, and the pricing was reasonable too. One suggestion: it would be great if the staff could maintain a more welcoming and friendly demeanor towards Indian customers as well. I noticed they were particularly warm and engaging with non-Indian guests, which stood out. For many of us, restaurants like this are more than just dining spots, they’re a connection to home, even when we're far away.

The best indian food in Dusseldorf. The quality and quantity of the food are excellent. The staff is very courteous , especially Moumita. They organised team dinner quite well and allowed us although we were a bit pate. It has become a go-to place for me now. Undoubtedly best Indian restaurant in NRW.

My wife and I both got food poisoning! Sick for 3 days, fever, diarrhea, the whole thing! Stay away!

Very tasty food, highly recommended. Prices are reasonable. When we were there, it was very loud, even though it was only half full, and the service wasn't all that fast, but overall, that didn't bother us at all.
