Svaad - The Indian Kitchen in Düsseldorf

A true taste experience! I ate at Svaad Düsseldorf for the first time yesterday – and what can I say? It was by far one of the best Indian dishes I've ever eaten! The spices were perfectly balanced, the flavors intense but not overpowering, and everything was freshly prepared. I would especially like to highlight the loving presentation of the dishes and the friendly, attentive service. Anyone who loves authentic Indian cuisine (or wants to get to know it) shouldn't miss this culinary experience. I'll definitely be back – and bring friends!

Been a regular here since I moved to Dusseldorf and I can definitely recommend this place! Reliable and good indian food and Chhole Bhature are a personal favourite here.

Very bad experience unfortunately. We ordered from Svaad and after waiting for more than an hour the order was canceled. I understand why it's not possible - but waiting over an hour before canceling isn't possible.

It was my first time eating Indian food and I absolutely loved it! The staff was super friendly, attentive and helped me choose. The food was simply incredibly delicious: full of flavors, freshly prepared and beautifully presented. The atmosphere in the restaurant was modern and cozy. I'll be back. An absolute recommendation.

I went to this place for the first time. We ordered a chicken biriyani, mutton fry, paneer masala & garlic naan. The taste was so good. Strongly recommend to taste if you are in and around Düsseldorf. Not to miss the important point. Prices are reasonable.

We ordered about 50 minutes ago. The delivery times have been changing all this time. The driver was supposedly already in the restaurant, then the order was canceled 9 minutes before delivery. It doesn't work at all. Unreliable.

Real Indian food. Many Indians as guests. Waiter only spoke English. Food was very tasty, plentiful and cheap.

I like going to Svaad. The food is good, for me one of the two best Indian places in the city, and the service is very good. Prices also moderate. Everyone is very friendly there! There are a lot of Indians eating in this restaurant, which is a good sign, I think.

It's the best place you must visit. Where the the food feels like i was in India . As a student I have visited the place from kaiserslautern just to taste the authentic indian food.

Highly recommend the Biryani and tandoori starters. Authentic Indian food as an Indian. Go for it.

Excellent food taste and service

The food was good but too spicy for me (which won’t change my rating because this is personal). The bhatura bread wasn’t really crispy. The raita was also good aswell as the chole from the chole bhatura. Price wise it was good. The service wasn’t unfriendly or anything but really slow. We got the menu after 5 minutes since we sat down and the cutlery didn’t came with the dish but later. After all it wasn’t really a problem. Maybe we were just unlucky since the other reviews say it different with the service

Authentic Gongura Lamm curry with Rice

I have ordered many times in SVAAD. For the very first time, I have tasted the sweet - Rasamalai. It’s was not at all good and the Keer milk was very bad and I could smell masala in it. Amidst, it’s one of the popular dishes from the SVAAD. It’s was too bad experience for me. I will never suggest or recommend this one. I am unsatisfied with this Dessert. I like the briyani very much. It’s very authentic. The food quantity is also good and more than enough.

We have dined and taken multiple deliveries. The food is good. But they mess up with orders and instructions very frequently. I always ask them to make boneless chicken briyaani and less spicy nd they make it sometimes and other times they give with bone and spicy but confidently tell that it is boneless.

You expect more taste from Indian restaurant people but……disappointing

What a great taste. Despite the loud atmosphere the food was very tasty and service was great! We tried different dishes and decided even for takeaway to have it for the next day. It was expensive, but still worth it.

It was a great experience with them. The atmosphere was lively, and the staff was very friendly. The pani puri was a bit disappointing as it lacked the usual flavor, but the other dishes were absolutely delicious. The variety of flavors was impressive, and the food was fresh. What really stood out was the fast service, which made the entire meal even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience, and I would definitely visit again!

Our go to Indian restaurant in Düsseldorf. We order here regularly, but have also eaten in the restaurant before. The dishes are always very tasty - so far we've really enjoyed everything. Our favorites are Palak Paneer, Dal Makhani and Butter Chicken. For dessert, the mango lassi is a poem.

Svaad is very cool the food is also delicious and tasty .The staffs are too nice and very friendly. We go there for our family times. Kids love the place and food. Would recommend everyone to go this place for Indian cuisines!!!

Having tasted biryani across Germany over so many years, i would say hands down the mutton biryani was the best i had so far! perfect blend of flavours, spices that don't burn you within, rice and mutton cooked to perfection...

I ordered Paneer Gongura from Svaad, expecting a proper vegetarian meal, but to my shock, the dish contained chicken pieces! This is completely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that claims to serve vegetarian and vegan food. When I brought this to their attention, they deleted my review instead of addressing the issue professionally. This shows a complete lack of responsibility and ethics. If you are vegetarian, vegan, or have dietary restrictions, I strongly do not recommend this place. They clearly do not take food safety or customer trust seriously. Unprofessional and careless

Today we had worst ever experience after ordering the food online.The panner dish delivered by Svaad contained chicken pieces. My in laws are Jain and this not acceptable. Vegetarian please refrain from ordering from this restaurant. I really liked and supported this restaurant since it’s opening in Düsseldorf but this is unacceptable. Delivery small chicken pieces in panner dish is a shame.

Great biriyani! Also making a reservation for a weekend dinner will not work as this place is normally pretty full and you'll have to wait! But it's worth the wait is all I can say :)

Nice Food & Nice People Thanks for fresh & delicious biryani ! The quantity of biryani is just so perfect! For people who would like the Biryani to be balanced for example with not more Masala better to inform to make white rice portion more than Masala one.

The only restaurant sofar that serves authentic Dum Biryani in the Rhien Ruhr cities. Most of the resturants in the ruhr gebiet have the item serve Biryani but it's simply mixing pulav rice and some chicken curry. But Svaad stoodout among the imposters by their truthful Biryani cooking where the chicken and rice cooked together. May be they could reduce the amount of masala rice a bit and increase the normal rice a bit more to balance the spiciyness. Or may be ask how do we prefer. The starters were perfect and the paratas and roties reminds me of India. Haleem should be improved as it had a taste more of a masala chat than Haleem. Will definitely visit next time and hopefully give 5 stars.

The most amazing Indian Restaurant in Düsseldorf

Unfortunately, the service was very unfriendly. As a guest, you felt unwelcome. Furthermore, the women's restroom was extremely dirty, smelling strongly of urine. There was apparently a cockroach in one of the two toilets. Overall, the dishes were solid and really decent for the price. Unfortunately, the hygiene and service left a lot to be desired, which is a real shame in this case.

Authentic Indian restaurant In Germany I ever tried. My 2nd visit to Düsseldorf, the quality is highly maintained. I highly recommend Gobi 65 which is a must try and a show stopper. Visited fifth time today and well maintained with the quality and awesome hospitality.

Super delicious Indian food at a very reasonable price! Admittedly, the atmosphere can be a bit hectic at times, but it doesn't detract from the overall experience. We love coming here!

I recently dined at Svaad – The Indian Kitchen in Düsseldorf and had a delightful experience. The lamb curry was tender and rich in flavor, and the chicken majestic offered a perfect blend of spices. The chicken dumplings were succulent, and the biryani was aromatic with well-balanced spices. The chole bhatura featured fluffy bread paired with a savory chickpea curry. The chilli chicken had a pleasant heat, and the tandoori items were grilled to perfection. To conclude, the gulab jamun provided a sweet and satisfying finish. I highly recommend Svaad for authentic Indian cuisine.

If you are from North you will not miss north India style preparation (paneer , dal makhani etc) If you are from Andhra or Telangana - you will not miss any kind of dal For Hyderabadi- chicken Briyani equally good as in Hyderabad And for bangoli- rasmalai is equivalent Best service

I have been to Svaad too many times already and suggested it to most of my friends. The food tastes way better than other Indian restaurants in Germany that I have tried. You can ask for different spice levels based on what you prefer and they can modify it for you. Make sure you reserve a table especially on weekends to avoid long waiting lines.

We are big butter chicken fans and therefore ordered our favorite dish from Svaad. Very tasty with crispy naan. There were a lot of Indians/Asians present on a Sunday lunchtime, which I always see as a positive sign that the quality is good. With children it is always particularly good when the food is on the table as soon as you order. It worked so quickly here - fantastic!

We had booked a table for us, but when we went there, they told us to wait (also other groups); what's the point of taking reservations? Then when we finally got a table after more than half an hour, we were told there was no biryani anymore, which was the reason why we went there in the first place. On top of this, the staff were visibly too stressed, the toilet was pretty dirty. The food was good, but there are a number of other Indian restaurants nearby.

The food and service was great we ordered Chicken vepadu - highly recommend , aaloo paratha and starters gobhi manchurian and papdi chaat and offcourse mango lassi.. Loved it . Will definitely come back again ✨️

I had high expectations for Svaad, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to them. The biggest letdown was the absence of mutton biryani, which was disappointing. The chicken biryani didn’t taste great either, and the ghee chicken was the worst dish we tried—completely lacking in flavor. However, the chicken majestic was the only saving grace, as it was well-prepared and tasted good. Overall, the experience was below average, and I wouldn’t recommend it for biryani lovers. There’s definitely room for improvement in terms of taste and variety.

We visited the restaurant last weekend and ordered a starter, drinks, and main course. Our main courses were served first, when we requested that we would like to begin with the starters, we were casually informed that as the main course is already available, they don't want it to get cold while the starter is cooked. The 'naan' accompanying the main course was also late, and we had to wait to begin the hot meal. We have been regulars at Svaad for the last couple of years. The food and service used to be good but have substantially deteriorated over the last 6 months. Very disappointed with Svaad Düsseldorf.

it's like a boring standard chain. Very, very bright and artificially uncomfortable atmosphere. Food was okay, but nothing special. Prices are another €2 more expensive than in the pictures on Maps. The price seemed too high to us and only after asking and waiting for a long time did they bring the receipt (no comparison of the dishes)… and we were “accidentally” overcharged for one dish…

I just wanted to thank you for keeping the real taste. I really enjoyed all of the foods but everyone enjoyed the Children Tikka Masala(it was the best). Mango lassi was also delicious ❤️. -from Nürnberg

Chicken Lollipop and Chicken Majestic were super awesome - definitely would recommend these as starters. Chicken Kadai was also very tasty, didn’t quite like the chicken chilly ( I was thinking it’s the usually indo-Chinese style but was a normal red gravy with capsicum- wasn’t bad but not what I expected) Gulab jamun was warm and comforting

Food OK, but very inattentive service when we were there. We had to ask several times where our order was. When we got the bill, the waiter said he had forgotten to add 2 Lassie and wanted us to pay for it that way. He didn't want to enter anything later...

Simply super authentic, even many Indian residents from Düsseldorf come to eat here. That's why it's normal to see people eating with their hands. The food is very very tasteful. But it is also very sharp. It has to be that way! Otherwise, treat yourself to mango lassi to cool down. My tip is the fried cauliflower starter.

Guys, these people are so friendly and their food tastes abnormal and the prices are really cheap. Me and three sisters of mine just paid €50 and our table was full and everyone had a main course. We had starters and salad and drinks. It is really recommended.

So, you don't reserve a table for x people for nothing. It may be that all the tables are full on a Saturday evening, but why do you accept more tables for reservation than the capacity you have in the restaurant? I reserved a table for 3 people - I got a table after about 3 minutes, but I felt like I was at McDonalds. Even though I reserved my table, I had to share my table with strangers. I also felt like I was being watched because every employee was standing at our table like security. The pani literally - as the employee asked us how we liked it - tasted like water and the puri and the filling couldn't be combined. It was also new to me that the puris were served to us unopened. I know it differently!! I had very high expectations because the restaurant was often recommended to me, but I am twice as disappointed.

We spontaneously visited here. We ordered three main courses and roti. It was all really, really tasty. Absolutely recommended. Above all, it’s not “Germanized” but really well and authentically seasoned!

Edit(02/02/2025): Today we were couple of friends and wanted to eat at this restaurant. We went there and ordered Dum goat biriyani. It was not good at all today. “Meat” was kinda non-existing there were pieces of goat which were mostly bones or off cuts of goat not actual meat. The biriyani itself was subpar. Although the food was not so good their service was very good. The staffs were very nice. Service was good too. Always like the vibe there. One of the best India restaurant I have been in NRW, the food is VERY delicious. If you think of the price to performance ratio, it’s top notch. We had Dum Biriany, and my god it was good. The spice, the amount of meat in the biriany was very good. I think the portion was supposed to be for two people. However we were three friends and ordered three portions. We could barely walk after the feast, AND WE REGRET NOTHING 😂. Two of us also order the mango lassi and other friend ordered masala lassi. It was also delicious 👌👌, although the masala lassi seemed a bit plain. The people working there are very friendly. The ambiance felt cozy and relaxing. You could go there, have delicious food and chillax with your friends. Absolutely awesome experience there. Although we live very far away, we will go there every time we are in Düsseldorf. 👌👌👌

Highly disappointed. They don't pay attention to you. Everytime they served the food as if we they are giving free of charge. No smile on face, which is beauty of indian tradition that you should smile while serving. Serving wrong dishes. We have to ask again and again for plates and the hike is when we asked for small glass for my 2 year old for drinking water they said outside drink not allowed. Which is inhumane.the rice first they served was cold after that they served half cooked rice. At the Time if bill payment when we told them we are very disappointed today they not even bother to ask what happened. And the man started making faces . How one could do this with customer?? Who served paneer tikka with roti?? Worst ever indian restaurant. Don't go here. Instead eat dal chawal or pizza French fries anywhere in dusseldorf but don't go here. Full wastage of money. There is no svaad in svaad.

The portions are really good and the taste is also quite decent, especially for the reasonable prices. The staff are hospitable too. The biryani is more authentic than most places and that is the main reason to visit this place.

Super food, very friendly and welcoming staff, they all speak English, overall a very nice experience. We ordered a mutton biriyani, lamb curry with rice and butter chicken with naan. All the dishes were tasty and the waiting time for the preparation was around 10mins.

I use to have briyani only. Getting any food in the same taste is a gift and they do that very best. The quantity of the food is unimaginable. Most liked indian restaurant in Germany.

Very tasty, best butter chicken!

I was at a buffet, organised by the service members for my group, the starters were incredibly spicy and just cauliflowers drenched in spicy sauce. There were also pakoras but they didn't look very appetizing either. The main course consisted of Naan, rice, chicken and matar. Rice was very spicy and just not flavorful. How do I know it? I eat Indian food all the time, traditional Indian food. Chicken was meh. Naan was way too hard and matar was served with dahi. Overall not a great experience for me and if you wear fashionable clothes, do not wear cotton, it smells horrible after you leave.
