Svaad - The Indian Kitchen in Düsseldorf

I ate there once, and it was quite tasty. But I didn't feel so comfortable there. Today I passed by again and urgently needed to use the restroom due to an emergency. I wanted to ask at the front, and three men working there, coming out of the kitchen or going into it, ignored me or just stared. I actively greeted one of them, but he turned away without saying a word...then I left again. So...friendliness and hospitality? No.

The taste was really good & the spice level is perfect for Hyderabad dum biryani. The price is also reasonable for the taste.

Very tasty, freshly prepared food. The staff was very friendly; the only downside, so to speak, was the beer garden's location on the street. It didn't bother us, and you can also sit comfortably inside.

I like the ambiance and the service but the chicken Biriyani which I ordered was not up to the mark. Firstly the quantity of the serving bowl seems to look more but it’s not. Lot of soda which made my stomach bloat and I felt very uncomfortable after eating. The taste was not good and didn’t look Fresh. I travelled from Hamm just to try the food here but came home feeling uncomfortable in my stomach. Not worth for the price we paid. Not recommended.

Taste was great for Naan.. kudos to only butter naan! But the chicken biryani nahh... also left our group with upset stomachs 🙁 *Not a good experience after an hour of tasty food followed by bloating and stomach gudu gudu* .. All 5 of us had the same issue. Unsure of quality! ( Note : all 5 are used to eat spicy food daily in our house ) so it's concerning.

Biriyani is well prepared (Mutton available only on Saturday and Sunday) and pairs well with chicken 65…. Egg fried rice is mention-worthy… Good Naan…. Curry dishes made to accommodate European taste but still tasty….

The ambiance is beautifully designed: modern, clean, and with a pleasant atmosphere. Ideal for a relaxed dinner. However, the portions were a bit smaller than I would have expected for the price. A more generous hand would have been helpful here. The service was also mediocre: friendly, but not particularly attentive. Recommendation for the restaurant: With slightly larger portions, the value for money would have been perfect! Definitely worth a visit – especially for lovers of authentic Indian cuisine. We'll be back!

My only minor critique is that the korma could have had a touch more depth in its seasoning, but it was still delicious. Overall, Svaad delivered an authentic and enjoyable Indian dining experience. I’d highly recommend trying their chicken tikka masala and korma if you’re craving vibrant, comforting flavors. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu!

Great food with impeccable Indian taste.

We ordered something for delivery. The food was supposed to arrive in about 40 minutes, but the delivery time kept getting delayed. After more than an hour and a half, our order was canceled. It was just after 9 on a Saturday evening—ordering anywhere else is going to be difficult. They were probably busy, which is understandable, but it would have been better if our order hadn't been accepted at all.

The order was canceled after 1.5 hours. Sorry, but that's unacceptable. First, they make you wait and then cancel so late (9 p.m.). You should have an overview of whether you can accept orders earlier.

Great food with authentic taste

I think this is the best Indian food I have had in Germany. It’s just as good as any Indian restaurant in India.

Empty restaurant, time: 1:30 a.m., an overworked man who repulsively sends me out because I want to sit on the beautiful turquoise sofas and not at the hideous tables. Even if I had sat at the tables, I wouldn't have been served by the waitress.

I had a disappointing experience at this hotel. The food was of poor quality and didn’t live up to the name of an Indian restaurant—it lacked authentic taste. What made the visit worse was the rude behavior of the person at the counter, which made the overall atmosphere quite unpleasant. Definitely not a place I would recommend or return to.

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Svaad was very disappointing. The service was painfully slow—even though the restaurant wasn’t busy, we waited nearly 1 n half hour for our food. When it finally arrived, the dishes "paneer tikka masala" and "panner kadhai" both looked the same and there was no difference in the taste. The dish "dal tadka " , there was no tadka. Garlic naan without the taste of garlic. On top of that, the service was slow and inattentive. Definitely not worth the money or time. The staff seemed indifferent to our concerns and barely acknowledged us when we brought up the issues. Definitely not coming back—there are far better Indian restaurants in the area. This is the service business, so first come "service" and second comes "tatse". But both were absent there. My suggestion is hire at least enough staff to attend customers properly and respond within the minute. Very dissatisfied.

I would say, it's ok ok. Taste wise as well as service wise. The service personal were kind though. Food was a bit disappointing and there was no Chai or coffee... I ate chaat there which was disappointing. I've taken something to have at home. I hope it won't disappoint me as the chaat did.

We were a group of 11 ppl who went for dinner. We had a very bad experience at the restaurant. Need to wait for 1.5 hr. Despite asking for an order for three-four times. The taste of the food was also not up to the average. I will say very poor. We ordered vegetarian dishes and it had no taste in it. The daal tadka tastes like boiled daal without any tadka. The garlic butter naan was also provided without any flavor of garlic in it. The dishes 'paneer butter masala' and 'paneer Tikka masala' didn't have any difference in taste. If i had a chance to give '0' star would have given that. For us, we feel that it was completely waste of money and time. At the end we have to return without any satisfaction after paying around 200 euros.

Disaster. Ordered for pickup. I was ignored for 20 minutes while several delivery services also waited for their orders. The restaurant left everyone standing there and ignored them when they spoke to me. I left out of frustration without being able to take my order with me.

Chicken Malai tikka Kabab was tasty but the salad was not clean and had sand in it. Lost appetite and sadly this happened again with the same dish.

A real taste experience! Yesterday I ate at Svaad Düsseldorf for the first time – and what can I say? It was by far one of the best Indian dishes I've ever eaten! The spices were perfectly balanced, the flavors were intense but not overpowering, and everything was freshly prepared. I would particularly like to emphasize the loving presentation of the food and the friendly, attentive service. If you love authentic Indian cuisine (or want to get to know it), you shouldn't miss this culinary experience. I'll definitely come back - and bring friends with me!

Very bad experience unfortunately. We ordered from Svaad and after waiting for more than an hour the order was canceled. I understand why it's not possible - but waiting over an hour before canceling isn't possible.

The food was good but too spicy for me (which won’t change my rating because this is personal). The bhatura bread wasn’t really crispy. The raita was also good aswell as the chole from the chole bhatura. Price wise it was good. The service wasn’t unfriendly or anything but really slow. We got the menu after 5 minutes since we sat down and the cutlery didn’t came with the dish but later. After all it wasn’t really a problem. Maybe we were just unlucky since the other reviews say it different with the service

Authentic Gongura Lamm curry with Rice

I have ordered many times in SVAAD. For the very first time, I have tasted the sweet - Rasamalai. It’s was not at all good and the Keer milk was very bad and I could smell masala in it. Amidst, it’s one of the popular dishes from the SVAAD. It’s was too bad experience for me. I will never suggest or recommend this one. I am unsatisfied with this Dessert. I like the briyani very much. It’s very authentic. The food quantity is also good and more than enough.

We have dined and taken multiple deliveries. The food is good. But they mess up with orders and instructions very frequently. I always ask them to make boneless chicken briyaani and less spicy nd they make it sometimes and other times they give with bone and spicy but confidently tell that it is boneless.

What a great taste. Despite the loud atmosphere the food was very tasty and service was great! We tried different dishes and decided even for takeaway to have it for the next day. It was expensive, but still worth it.

Our go to Indian restaurant in Düsseldorf. We order here regularly, but have also eaten in the restaurant before. The dishes are always very tasty - so far we've really enjoyed everything. Our favorites are Palak Paneer, Dal Makhani and Butter Chicken. For dessert, the mango lassi is a poem.

I ordered Paneer Gongura from Svaad, expecting a proper vegetarian meal, but to my shock, the dish contained chicken pieces! This is completely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant that claims to serve vegetarian and vegan food. When I brought this to their attention, they deleted my review instead of addressing the issue professionally. This shows a complete lack of responsibility and ethics. If you are vegetarian, vegan, or have dietary restrictions, I strongly do not recommend this place. They clearly do not take food safety or customer trust seriously. Unprofessional and careless

Today we had worst ever experience after ordering the food online.The panner dish delivered by Svaad contained chicken pieces. My in laws are Jain and this not acceptable. Vegetarian please refrain from ordering from this restaurant. I really liked and supported this restaurant since it’s opening in Düsseldorf but this is unacceptable. Delivery small chicken pieces in panner dish is a shame.

The only restaurant sofar that serves authentic Dum Biryani in the Rhien Ruhr cities. Most of the resturants in the ruhr gebiet have the item serve Biryani but it's simply mixing pulav rice and some chicken curry. But Svaad stoodout among the imposters by their truthful Biryani cooking where the chicken and rice cooked together. May be they could reduce the amount of masala rice a bit and increase the normal rice a bit more to balance the spiciyness. Or may be ask how do we prefer. The starters were perfect and the paratas and roties reminds me of India. Haleem should be improved as it had a taste more of a masala chat than Haleem. Will definitely visit next time and hopefully give 5 stars.
