Sushimoto in Frankfurt am Main

Zu dritt freundlich begrüßt und an einen reservierten Tisch geführt. Das Bestellte - Essen und der Rosé - war sehr lecker. Service aufmerksam.

In Japanese teppanyaki, a chef prepares dishes on a steel plate at the table in front of the guests. In the 1976 film “Brust oder Keule” with Louis de Funès, we laughed at the chef's unknown skills; But I also know the magic skills of the chefs from a long-standing teppanyaki restaurant on Kaiserstrasse, which (recently?) has closed at lunchtime. With the search term “Teppanyaki Frankfurt” on the Internet, the only option that came up was Sushimoto, which we visited this Tuesday at lunchtime. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Westin Grand Hotel, a feast for the eyes and ears right from the entrance. In addition to the very nice, comfortable tapas bar, there is a transparent door through which you can enter the Sushimoto restaurant at the push of a button. My disappointment was huge when the service explained that teppanyaki has no longer been offered here since “Corona times” (i.e. from 2020) due to a lack of cooks and staff overall. That's why we chose different lunch menus: girlfriend tempura (fried shrimp, fish, vegetables, mushrooms etc. with a batter made of flour, egg and ice water for 28 €), husband yakiniku (pulled beef for 25 €), me saba (grilled mackerel for 23 €). All delicious and with plenty of side dishes (miso soup, mixed pickles, Japanese pumpkins and radish as well as salad). Ginger and wasabi upon request at no extra charge. We had a hard time eating it all! The drinks prices were really cheap: warm sake (rice wine, 0.2 l for €5.00, 0.25 l Kirin draft beer for €4, Sauvingnon from Friuli 0.2 l for €5.00). The ladies from the service had a hard time dealing with us as chaotic people talking over each other and asking impossible questions, but they did everything humanly possible to ensure our satisfaction. Conclusion: Very good Japanese cuisine in a noble environment. But: Teppanyaki, that would have been it :-(

Ono Jiro’s level in the EU! The only truly authentic Japanese sushi. As someone with over 20 years of experience visiting customers, I’ve eaten here at least 200 times. This restaurant isn’t just one of the best—it is the best! If you understand the quality of ingredients they use… If you know Japanese cuisine… This place is the king of sushi in the EU! Please, do not compare their tuna, the most expensive, certified Balfego tuna, with frozen mackerel tuna. Even the green tea they serve is made from young tea leaves, which are much more expensive. Neutral miso soup? Not here. They use fish bones and cooked vegetables for an incredible depth of flavor. Anyone who truly knows sushi must have great respect for this restaurant. I’m always happy to come here when I need sushi. I love Mr. Sakamoto!

Not the food quality of what it used to be. No chutoro or toro available either. But the service is impeccable and the pricing for lunch for the amount of food is good.

I was surprised to find that the old iron plate in the hall was gone. The cool tall iron master is gone too. The taste and portion are still great. Recommend the sizzling beef. Not recommended for the braised chicken. The sashimi is 35 euros a piece, which makes me feel a little worried about the money.

I've been a fan ever since I had sushi for the first time 21 years ago when I still lived nearby. I came to eat with a variety of people, and everyone was satisfied, not only Japanese and German people. There are some restaurants that serve sushi at ridiculously high prices, but Sushimoto is the only place I've eaten overseas that can serve this level of sushi at this price. It's really delicious. I feel that the rice and miso soup are also carefully prepared. I think it's due to a lot of corporate effort that we've been able to continue operating our store for so many years, even though we have a store in a luxury hotel. I've only had sushi or course meals, but the tempura set meal my child ordered for lunch was very satisfying, with carefully prepared simmered dishes and plenty of tempura. I don't live nearby, so I don't get to go there often, but when I come to Frankfurt, I always stop by Sushimoto.

Wir sind zum Konzertbesuch nach Frankfurt gekommen und haben auf Empfehlung meiner Tochter einen wunderschönen Platz im Außenbereich des „Rosmarin“ bekommen. Wir wurden sehr gut und freundlich bewirtet. Da es an diesem Tag sehr heiß war, haben wir uns für leichte Speisen entschieden. Wir waren alle sehr zufrieden mit dem Essen und sind nach dem Konzertbesuch gegen 22 Uhr nochmal auf ein leckeres Dessert dorthin zurückgekommen. Hier pflegt der sehr freundlicher Chef noch den Kontakt zu den Gästen. Wir werden sehr gerne wiederkommen und empfehlen dieses Restaurant gerne weiter!

Nicht in Ordnung was hier heute passiert ist, hoffentlich keine anderen Gäste betroffen. Wir haben 10 Personen gegessen und nur 9 das essen erhalten ich habe statt Hänchen schnitzel ein Hänchen steak bekommen und der “chef” meinte ich sollte es essen, am Ende war alles auf der Rechnung obwohl eine Person das essen gar nicht bekommen hat, das Deutsch ist ziemlich schlecht und deswegen ist alles passiert

This restaurant is inside Westin. So expect high price I had 8 pcs salmon sashimi platter, 4 pcs salmon sushi, miso soup and small tempura, which contained 1 prawn tempura and 5 pcs of various veg. Salmon dishes were delicious. Prawn in tempura was also nice. Overall good place to visit in Frankfurt, if you have money. €91 with 1 cold sake. For just 1 person

Schöne Geburtstagsfeier unseres 16-jährigen Sohnes! Unser Sohn hatte sich einen Ausflug nach Frankfurt für seinen Geburtstag gewünscht. Beim bummeln durch die Fressgass fiel uns das Restaurant Rosmarin auf, wo wir den Abend verbringen wollten. An diesem Abend hat alles gestimmt, wir hatten eine sehr aufmerksame Bedienung und sehr leckeres Essen, Wir wurden richtig gut umsorgt und zuguterletzt bekam das Geburtstagskind eine Wunderkerzen-Überraschung wie auf dem Traumschiff mit Happy Birthday-Musik. Vielen Dank für den schönen Abend, wir kommen wieder!

The food was good but absolutely not returning due to the worst customer experiences I ever had. The waitresses are straight up rude! My friend was asking for wasabi and the lady looked at her with a grumpy face and ignored her. Two of our friends left because they couldn't wait anymore. Overall we waited for 2 hours for our dishes, as they were brought separately, so some of us were eating, some were looking. The only nice waitress was pouring tea, the serving ones were an absolute catastrophe. Sorry but never again.

Lunch is relatively cheap. The price is around 20 euros per person, and the portions are quite large, so you'll be full.

Great restaurant Sushi grill restaurant in Frankfurt. Recommend the grilled chicken and a crunchy sushi roll. The food was tastefully mind blowing. Great ambiance, gives luxury vibes and the prices were affordable. Enjoyed every minute of the experience. Perfect location right next to the Alte Oper. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and professional. Even got the chef had time to ask if we enjoyed our meal and took a pic. Loved the experience.

A very hard-working waitress, but she had to look after the entire restaurant on her own, and as a result she was so late with some dishes that we had the food packed up.....that won't be necessary in the future!!! We were disappointed!

Very good dinner, the sushi was excellent. Special mention for the plain sushi made with sea urchin: a real treat. They use the best quality rice available in Japan.

I've been going here for lunch with my family for years and we're always satisfied. The food is very tasty and freshly prepared! The service is great and the atmosphere is pleasant and cozy. My recommendations: Tori Teri-yaki, sashimi, ice cream dessert

Top Restaurant in Frankfurt. Tasty meals and definitely have to go back. Amazing and friendly staff. I had friends who couldn’t speak German and the staff was accommodating and friendly . Recommend the crunchy tuna and chicken. Top top top. Ambience in and outside gives a luxury experience. At the end of our meal the chef asked how the experience was. Top location close to the Alte Oper U-Bahn Station and Alte Oper. paid Parking possible at the nearby parking garage at the Alte Oper. Great experience over all

⚠️ Bizarre experience 🧐 illegal activity suspected 🤔 I went there with my family the first time today. Towards the end of our meal, a waitress approached me. She said she wanted to offer me ice cream for free. I initially thought that was only a nice gesture since we could speak the same language. But then she mentioned the condition: I pay only with cash, and I would not get an invoice. I thought she meant the ice cream would not be listed on the invoice but in fact I did not even get an invoice!! That is obviously tax evasion activity!! 😧 Either the boss is also in it, or the waitress is actually stealing money. I am a first time visitor and this is absolutely bizarre and unpleasant. I do not want to be part of your game. Would not come back!!! Service is terrible anyway!!

Wir haben hier vor einer Vorstellung in der Alten Oper gegessen. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Bedienung war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Ich kann dieses Restaurant uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

Ein wirklich schöner kurzer Besuch! wir waren durch Zufall dort gelandet und hatten am Abend noch Konzertkarten, daher fragten wir vor dem Bestellen, ob wir zeitlich noch etwas essen können. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und kompetent, das frisch zubereitete Sushi stand nach kurzer Wartezeit auf dem Tisch und war sehr lecker. Ein kleiner Minuspunkt waren die im Vergleich doch sehr gehobenen Weinpreise. Danke für die schöne Stunde!

I've been a customer for a long time.. the food and the quality are fantastic, extremely delicious. The service is very efficient. I prefer the pre-pandemic era rather than currently. The menu had a greater variety of dishes and they did have teppanyaki. The food remains delicious and the service also, but I miss the old days.

Wie schön! ... ein neues Lokal in der Fressgass, mitten in Frankfurt, aber doch vollkommen ruhig in einer kleinen schönen Galerie gelegen, in der sogar ein Baum steht! Wir waren überrascht von der vielseitigen und kreativen Speisekarte: Soups, Bowls, Sushi, Pasta, Fisch, Steak, köstliche Nachttische,… alles hat vorzüglich geschmeckt und sah auch noch schön aus. Auch die Bedienung war sehr nett und aufmerksam. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen bestimmt wieder! ... ein Ort zum Geniessen und Wohlfühlen!

The service was great as the waitress was very attentive. The tempura came out quickly and was good and hot. I also enjoyed the beef. Overall, it was a good experience.

We stopped by for lunch, which giant disappointing. We had two set lunches Euro 28 per set. One of the lunches is a sushi set, and the other one is a sashimi rice bowl. They have the same fish but present in a different way. The Asian lady who served us was very friendly! We also saw other people order the tempura, a pretty huge portion.

Leider wird kein Tepanyaki mehr angeboten. Sushi wie seit vielen Jahren sehr gut.

ランチで伺いました。お寿司と悩みましたが刺身定食にしました。付け合わせの野菜の煮物も美味しかったです。お刺身は、思った以上に沢山盛られており、お魚も美味しく、大満足でした。また、日本のように温かいお茶が出てくるのもドイツでは見ないサービスでとても嬉しかったです。

Don't think I'll be back. Okay experience. Food was decent. Service was good. However, expensive for what I got, only to leave just as hungry as when I arrived. Too many restaurants to choose from to return here.

寿司 so nah an Japan wie das außerhalb Japan möglich ist. Immer frische Qualität. 寿司 as close to Japan as it can get away from Japan. Always fresh quality.

We came here at lunchtime on a Saturday, and it wasn't too busy. It is a little tucked away inside the arcade or you can also access it from the hotel. It has a slightly more traditional feel - you will be served green tea, for example. The food was delicious. Well recommended.

Authentic japanese food – focused on sushi. By authentic I mean we cannot buy "sushi with mayonese" and all these new variatons of deep fried balls of rice. If you're into that (and sometimes I am!) – this is not the place for you. Your dinner here won't be cheap at all - but it will be worth it

We visit Sushimoto and it’s famous Sushi-Master Mitsunori Sakamoto since the middle of the 1990s. Sushimoto was in our opinion for many years the best and most authentic Japanese restaurant in Frankfurt. Today the competition is fierce and still we have praise for this highly traditional Sushi-, Sashimi- and Tempura-Kitchen. Always fresh and excellent produce, always prepared in the way you do things in Tokyo! The menu list features beautiful little starters, you find them on the last page, and very tasty soft shell crab, delicate tempura and other grilled fish. The once mighty Teppan Yaki section is now closed. The grilled meats and fish are still excellent! Sushi and Sashimi of always great quality and taste. Try the Chef’s Omakase! Always worth the visit! Very reasonable in its pricing!

We took the Omakase menu-big. There are several courses in Omakase menus, including starters, soup, sashimi, tempura, sushi, grilled fish, dessert...etc, ingredients differ from time to time. All in all we enjoyed the meal here but found it a bit pricy. For people who loves japanese food and want to have new experience in restaurants, this one is not a bad choice. Staff were friendly. Conveniently there is a parking garage directly next to the restaurent; bathrooms are however located in the sector of hotel hall (still in the same building).

Extrem kleine Portionen an Sushi und Sashimi. Preise sind für diese Portionen viel zu hoch. Habe in meinem Leben noch nie so kleine Sushi und Sashimi gegessen. Zum Teil fand ich es unverschämt, so die Kunden abzuservieren. War mit einer Bekannten am 20.04.2023 dort und werde dieses Restaurant wahrscheinlich nie wieder besuchen. Qualität war OK. Service war auch OK aber die Portionen waren für Kinder nicht für Erwachsene.

Really delicious. Pricey especially dinner. the quality is great. Not only sushi and sashimi. They have chirashi (variety of sashimi on sushi rice), unaju (rice with eel), omakase (chef's choice), teppanyaki and course menu as well. Lunch menu is cheaper. The atmosphere was not the best. They are super busy. but food was amazing. Sashimi was fresh. Chef Sakamoto is a professional! For me this is the best sushi place in frankfurt. The location is very good too. Located on the ground floor in Westin hotel at Konstablerwache.

Das Essen hat beste Qualität. Das Ambiente ist Stilvoll dennoch ist das Preis-Niveau schon sehr enorm.

Nach wie vor eines der besten japanischen Restaurants in Frankfurt. Insbesondere der Mittagstisch ist sehr zu empfehlen.

Das Mittagessen hat bei weitem nicht mehr die Qualität von früher. Schmeckt nicht mehr, ist dafür aber über 40% teurer geworden. Die Einrichtung und das Ambiente des Restaurants ist alt und nicht schön. Von meiner Seite keine Empfehlung mehr.

Updated in March 2023 One of the best and authentic Japanese restaurants in Frankfurt with Japanese chefs. However, I think there are challenges in sourcing high quality fresh raw seafoods and a good variety of them in Frankfurt. So don't have a too high expectation if you are a connoisseur in sushi and shasihimi. The restaurant is pricy but they have a reasonably priced (not cheap but value for money) set lunches with typical Japanpese dishes like sushi, sasihimi, tempura, teppanyaki, yakitori, Unadon and so on. Always crowded during lunch time and reservation recommended.

I usually go there once a month with friends. There is usually a short waiting time to get seated but that is still okay. Food tastes really great and my personal favourite is the Chirashi box. The green tea gets free refills after the first cup. Also the macha green tea ice is delicious.

Ich habe am 11. September 2021 meine Partnerin hierher eingeladen zum Wagyu Steak bzw. Sashimi und habe gemischte Erfahrungen gemacht: Positiv: Sashimi war sehr gut Rotwein war sehr gut Reis war exzellent Neutral: Miso-Suppe war soso. Da ist der Japaner "Iwase" in der Nachbarschaft definitiv eine Stufe besser. Negativ: Die Preise waren viel zu hoch für die Menge an Essen (Beispiel 40 Euro für ungefähr 15 Stück kleine Sashimi) Viel zu laut (sowohl die Kellner als auch der Besitzer) Chaos im Restaurant (eine Kellnerin rannte sogar) Wagyu-Steak kam kalt raus Nach der Beschwerde war die Gemüse jedoch kalt Der Chef schrie einen Angestellten an. Zusammenfassung: für insgesamt 271 Euro war das Gesamtangebot schwach, sehr schwach. Ich kann dieses Restaurant, Stand heute, 14. September 2021, nicht empfehlen (Die Qualität von der Sushi habe ich nicht getestet). Mit massiver Verbesserung bin ich bereit meine Meinung zu ändern. Update 12. Januar 2023: Nach zwei Jahren war ich mit meiner Partnerin erneut im Sushimoto. Preise stiegen leicht und der Sashimi (40 --> 45 Euro) war "gut" statt "sehr gut" wie vor zwei Jahren. Grund dafür war, dass der Geschmack weniger intensiv war meiner Meinung nach. Positiv ist zu vermerken, dass das Restaurant deutlich ruhiger war als vor zwei Jahren.

One of the best sushi place here in Frankfurt! The ingredients are so fresh and prepared by experienced chef. It’s a bit expensive compared to other restaurants around. I really enjoyed the food.

No tenppanyaki at the moment, but nice sashimi. oil for fried food are a bit reused too many time.
