SunSeaBar in Kalkar

First of all, I'd like to say that the beach bar only opened this season (2025) under the name SOL; older reviews probably refer to the previous bar. I ate fries, nuggets, and currywurst here with a friend last week. Don't forget, it's a beach bar, not a restaurant. There's only one line for drinks, food, and ice cream. A second line just for ice cream would be great, then the kids wouldn't have to wait so long. It's holiday season and the weather is perfect, so it does take a little longer, but once you've ordered, the food arrives very quickly; you're notified via a buzzer. The nuggets are okay, the sweet and sour sauce... mmmhhhg. The currywurst has plenty of sauce and is well-seasoned. The golden-brown pool fries are like deep-fried sunbeams. Very tasty. The sauce is included in the price of the fries, which I think is great. I will definitely eat fries here again. This is a great way to spend a day on the beautiful beach.

The staff were very friendly. The fries were delicious, and the prices were actually reasonable. Of course, with such strong fluctuations in visitor numbers, it can take a while. Unfortunately, the menu has been somewhat reduced, and among other things, they no longer serve coffee.

Long waiting times, portions very small and too expensive

Worst beach bar we've ever experienced. The service is terrible, and we don't even need to mention the wait time. For example, three people ordered fries before us. We were the fourth to order fries. The service was completely overwhelmed with the orders. The wait was over half an hour. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

The snack bar is a disgrace. A 30-minute line, then another 15 minutes for the overpriced food: a tiny portion of fries and a cold Frikandel. No napkins. And how are you supposed to eat a Frikandel special with a fries picker?

Kiosk and snack bar with the beach classics: fries, bratwurst, currywurst. Plus beer, various sodas, ice cream, coffee and cake. Very friendly and quick service, there are plenty of seats outside.
