Been there once and never again. The kebab was simply overloaded with stuff. It was almost impossible to eat; it was completely overloaded with everything, and the main thing was that it had a ton of sauce slapped on it. A lot of everything doesn't disguise the poor quality. I had a terrible stomach ache afterward, and a friend even threw up.

Disappointing Visit to the "Golden Horn" in Kalkar We went to the Golden Horn in Kalkar with our children this evening and wanted to eat there – unfortunately, the visit was a huge disappointment. At first, we weren't even noticed for a long time, even though the restaurant wasn't overly busy. After we politely asked if we could order, a flatbread was simply pushed into the oven without comment – no greeting, no feedback, no real communication with us as guests. It felt like we were being completely ignored. Meanwhile, another waitress served several other guests who had arrived after us without even looking at us or speaking to us. No "Just a moment, please," no smile, no assessment of the wait time – nothing. After what felt like an eternity, we simply left because we truly didn't feel welcome or noticed at all. We've never experienced anything like this before – not even an attempt to give us any sense of hospitality or service. We're actually very patient customers and would have had no problem waiting at all – if only they'd greeted us with a few words, like, "Just a moment, we'll be right with you." But instead, we felt like we were invisible. Very disappointing – we were really looking forward to a kebab, but unfortunately, this evening was anything but filling.

Can't recommend it for in between, everything looks fancy but the kebab tastes just like the others and you only pay 6 euros for a kebab instead of 8 euros

Unfortunately, I have to give this review as it was once my childhood kebab. I haven't been there for a while now and I can fully understand the recent reviews. There's hardly any meat in it, and the taste isn't what it used to be. Very disappointing.

I have no idea what's going on...it's just been really bad lately. They used to have the best kebabs, but over time it's gotten worse and worse. Our last two orders were inedible, overpriced, and the quantity was just ridiculous. This was also our last order there; we prefer to go to Derya now.

We pre-ordered food by phone. After the agreed pickup time, the food still wasn't prepared, and we were turned away with the incredibly rude words, "You didn't order here." I've actually been a customer there for years and have recommended it to everyone. Unfortunately, I can only agree with the previous reviews and summarize that the quality and value for money simply no longer match. After canceling the order on the spot, we went straight to Derya to buy a delicious doner kebab (€4 less and with very friendly staff). This was the last time we visited this shop. A clear advantage over the "competition."

I've been there for the first time in a long time. The quality has deteriorated considerably. The fries were cold and greasy, the meat was raw, and the portions were small. Inedible.

The doner kebab plate was inedible. The fries were swimming in fat. The meat wasn't cooked through. The salad was overcooked. If the trip hadn't been so far, I would have returned it. Not recommended.

The meat wasn't fully cooked and didn't taste good. The entire salad was warm, unrefrigerated, and some of it was already wilted and spoiled. I really don't recommend it.

Due to the once-good reputation of this snack bar in the Lower Rhine region, we decided to visit and eat in. We placed our order at the counter and sat down. After 30 minutes, the employee noticed that our order had been forgotten. Two minutes later, we received a doner kebab plate – for a whopping €14, a disappointing portion with little meat and sparse side dishes. Worse still, the meat was raw and inedible. After we complained, the plate was reluctantly remade. This time, the meat was grilled, but the quantity was even smaller. To disguise this, an overdose of sauce was poured over it. The Dutch Kapsalon also took 45 minutes to arrive at the "fast-food restaurant." The portion was small, like the new doner kebab plate, and the flavor was far from that of the Kapsalons in the Netherlands. The advertised spicy sauce was barely there, but tzatziki dominated. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the recent negative reviews. This snack bar isn't worth the drive. If you happen to be in Kalkar, you can give it a try, but there's nothing special here. The already small menu isn't convincingly executed in terms of taste. Other snack bars offer significantly better food – faster and cheaper.

One diarrhea to go, gladly €7.50. No "Hello," the opened frozen minced meat skewer was recycled. That was once good. Keep your fingers and all other body parts away from the shop. If you're tired of selling kebabs, then just close the shop.

Not very friendly on the phone. Mayonnaise is missing. Didn't get twice the meat as ordered. Stem from the herb in the food. All in all it just didn't taste good.

Anyone who grew up in Kalkar knows and loves the Golden Horn. The shop used to be always full, and for good reason: the kebab was simply great - juicy, well-seasoned meat, a delicious sauce and full to the brim. It was a little more expensive than the competition back then, but it was worth every cent. Unfortunately, the kebab today no longer comes close to the old quality. The meat no longer tastes as intense, the sauce has lost its former character, and for the current price you simply don't get enough taste and quality. Every now and then there are still moments when the kebab reminds you of the glorious past - but that is the exception. It's a shame, because the Golden Horn was once a real insider tip. Anyone who knows the kebab from back then will often be disappointed today. Maybe the store will find its way back to its former strength - until then it will be occasional visits, more out of nostalgia than conviction. Conclusion: Once a highlight, today it's just average. 3/5 stars for the reminder.

I was there again after a very long time, unfortunately the quality has deteriorated enormously. The portion of meat was very manageable, but it was swimming in the sauce. It was also very spicy, it was sold to me as "normally seasoned". Also not convincing in terms of taste. The bread was quite sticky overall, but slightly burnt in some places. Conclusion: pretty disappointing and no longer what it used to be, unfortunately.

Less is more. Maybe we should change the way we prepare and serve the doner kebab. I'd start with the bread first and make it in the toaster instead of the pizza oven. That would make it easier to eat. Also, don't pour ladles of sauce into the doner kebab, causing it to fall apart. Also, don't slam the thing full of everything in a random manner, and take your time to fill it systematically. I couldn't eat this thing at all, and it ended up in the trash in a disintegrated state. Therefore, I'm giving this thing 2 stars.

Very tasty Turkish pizza. Unfortunately, the rooms are often cold because the seating area is very open and close to the door.

Modernly furnished and clean shop. It used to taste better, so I haven't been going here for a while. During a visit, the employee was also met with suspicion and asked for immediate payment in a somewhat unpleasant manner.

Very friendly service. Special requests are accommodated. Child-friendly. Fresh ingredients and delicious sauces. We were very satisfied!

It doesn't get any more cheeky than the prices... although the staff can top that. 14€ for a kebab plate with minced meat and some foreign objects and the whole thing wrapped up in a garbage bag.

I ate my first kebab here as a child about 30 years ago. Since then, the taste of the kebab has been unmistakably good. Here you get something for your money without having the feeling that, like many others, you are skimping on something. In my kebab I had six pieces of cheese and two pepperoni, a large portion of meat and a sauce that tasted equally good from the start. The bread is crispy and the salad is crunchy. Absolutely great for 7 euros. The staff is friendly and implements all wishes. The atmosphere is rather cool. All in all - recommended 👍🏼

I read the reviews beforehand and was very excited about what to expect. Everything from good to bad was possible if you believe the reviews. In short: I thought the store was great. Nice service, very large kebab with exactly the combination I wanted for €7. Completely acceptable, considering that my wishes were met and no savings were made in terms of quantity. Gladly again!

This kebab shop is an absolute nightmare for anyone who values ​​their food and their stomach. The flesh was cut so roughly that it felt like biting into misshapen chunks of flesh. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the meat was also half raw - a health risk of the first order. The fries in the box were no better - soggy, greasy and without any taste. And the whole thing cost me an incredible €9.50 for a quality that doesn't even deserve the name "döner". If you want to do something good for your stomach, then avoid this kebab shop at all costs. Instead, spend your hard-earned money on a meal that won't offend your stomach or assault your taste buds.

I was in the restaurant about 1.5 hours before closing (according to opening times), unfortunately the counter and the skewer had already been cleared away. Very disappointing.

Personal sehr unfreundlich. Sehr hohe Preise. Essen ist mittlerweile nur noch an „guten“ Tagen zu genießen. Sehr schade

Eigentlich seit Jahren, die Anlaufstelle für Döner in Kalkar. Das Essen ist leider nicht mehr so toll. Schreibe das unter dem Eindruck meiner Bestellung gerade. Pommes waren labrig und von in mehreren Fritierstufen zusammen gewürfelt. Das Fleisch war fahl. Der Salat hat kein Aroma. Soße lala. Da habe ich noch immer den Geschmack des Döner aus Berlin im Gedächtnis der Klassen besser war.Also Team vom Goldenen Horn. Bitte mehr ❤️ ins Essen. Ansonsten komme ich nicht wieder.

Schade sind gerne gekommen aber man steht um halb zwei vor geschlossenen Türen obwohl bis zwei mittags auf ist schon zweite Mal kommen extra von Goch finde ich unverschämt.mit der Inhaberin gesprochen Problem besprochen vielleicht nächste Mal Zettel hin hängen man wartet gerne fünf Minuten weil es dort sehr gut schmeckt und nette Inhaber

Bin seit fast zehn Jahren das erste mal wieder da gewesen. Hat mir geschmacklich nicht gefallen, der Preis 21€ für drei Dönertaschen und einem Dönerteller auch einwenig zu hoch. Die zügige Abarbeitung der Bestellung fand ich gut. Habe nicht lange warten müssen, das kenn ich aus Kalkar anders.
