Sumak in Berlin

Great restaurant serving Turkish cuisine. We had a delicious breakfast with Turkish specialties like sumak and other tasty foods. Everything was fresh and well seasoned, very nice service too.

The best kavati salanu I've been to so far I loved it. I eat kavati. Now, I recommend this place to you too. I loved it.

The benches and tables are dirty. The service is disastrous and clumsy. We had to wait a long time for our food. The manti were completely cold. The other two of us didn't get anything at all. Half of the things on the map were already unavailable. We canceled the visit. The food was stored next to the cleaning supplies on the way to the toilet. Terrible. Cashing was done using a calculator. We had to do the math ourselves several times until it was correct. No real apology or awareness of this.

I don't recommend this place. Bar lady was coughing, covering her mouth with hands then using the same barehand to serve us bread. Also on the door they have label claiming they accept card payment but then after they serve you food, it's cash only.

This is where I find my absolute favorite breakfast. It tastes very tasty and there is no skimping on the side dishes. There is a large basket of delicious flatbread with every dish. My recommendation: order a large pot of tea.

First things first: The food is super delicious. It was well attended and the service was a little stressful, but super friendly. The only downer was the huge selection of starters on the menu (approx. 15), of which there were only three that day. The price/performance ratio is absolutely fine. A clear recommendation from me.

Very pale and dry gozleme with LITTLE cheese inside. Tastes like rock. We wondered how old is this gozleme. We ask to offer a new gozleme with more cheese, they just giving us another two pieces of cheese separately on the side like the photo. And told us that it’s always served like this. Nice tea and coffee. But don’t think we will come again.

Very nice corner eatery. We came for brunch. I enjoyed the potato omelette. Would come again, gets the job done.

Was a nice option in the past but has somewhat changed. Prices have risen and the portioning has decreased as well as the number of dishes to pick from. Food tastes good but overall to high prices for what you get - especially in comparison to former times.

As a tea drinker and novel reader, it's not easy to find places that invite you to stay in the city of parties and self-expression. This Turkish restaurant is so pleasantly unpretentious.

A mid-level place with overpriced dishes. Would not recommend it. Food: we had Turkish breakfast, and I would say 17.90 is a ripoff for one meal. The taste was alright, but the food you receive is ridiculously expensive - one egg and one small sausage is a joke! In Istanbul, it would be a crime to show this breakfast to someone and present the price! Service: Okish service

Best address for brunch in the Wrangelkiez.

Vor einem halben Jahr waren wir zu viert hier essen. Es war gut und lecker. Heute waren wir im gleich (aussehenden) Lokal, das aber mit einem begrenzten und geänderten, auch teureren, Angebot aufwartete. Wir warteten mit kleinen Kindern fast eine Dreiviertelstunde auf die beiden Toasts, obwohl der Laden nicht voll war. Das Menemen für knapp 10€ liegt einige Stunden später noch im Magen. Auf den Toasts für ebenfalls fast 10€ waren winzige Stückchen Sucuk und kaum Käse ausgelegt, anbei ein wässriger Salat, Dressing lecker. Service ging so, Brot vergessen, zerstreut wirkend, obwohl wenig Kundschaft. Leider nicht mehr empfehlenswert. Auch weil es keine vorher köstlichen Gözleme mehr gibt.

Nice breakfast shop with Turkish specialties. We sat outside, apart from some neighborhood clientele, it was a really great corner in the middle of the IM. Wrangelkiez. Personally, the portion was a bit too small, but that's really the only thing to complain about. Payment sometimes only in cash. I didn't quite understand why.

Addendum! We have been customers of Sumak for many years now, but a lot has changed in the meantime. Portions used to be larger and prices have increased by more than 25%. Since we also liked to go out for breakfast with the family and now pay almost €70 for breakfast/brunch, unfortunately we won't be able to do that anymore. Unfortunately, a lot has changed in the service and we are unfortunately losing love for this restaurant... very, very sad... Very tasty Turkish breakfast. We had menemen, omelette with sucuk and the sumak breakfast.. All highly recommended 👍👍👍... There was fresh pide and aromatic cay. Be sure to try other types of tea too! We will also try the “Sumak” for lunch. Hospitable and cozy atmosphere! We really enjoyed being there!

No liquor license or conviction, who can say. It was a hot day, so a cool blonde would have tasted good.

You pay €7.5 for toast. You certainly expect something tasty or something that justifies the price. But that's not how it is. The bread is very dry and the distribution of cheese and pastirma is a bad joke!!! In one corner you have cheese and pastirma and the rest is just bread. The breakfast menu and the juices, however, are delicious and recommended.

Boring food can be made at home less the cost. There is nothing special here just because you fancy drop balsamico over a dressing doesn't make it fancy. It's very soggy and dry

A complete disaster. The service was absolutely horrendous. We waited for nearly an hour before we could even place our order, despite the place not being particularly busy. The staff seemed completely disinterested and made no effort to attend to us. We had to constantly get up and seek out someone to help us, which is ridiculous when you’re paying to dine out. To make matters worse, we were overcharged for a teapot that we didn’t even finish because they took it away full without our consent. When we brought this up, the staff were dismissive and unhelpful. Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. I will definitely not be returning, and I’d advise others to avoid this place as well.

That was the worst brunch I've ever had. The service was terrible from the start. The waiters were rude and didn't seem to care about us at all. The food was terrible—obviously made with cheap ingredients. To make matters worse, we were charged for things we didn't order. When we pointed this out, the waiter acted like we were the problem. I would never come here again and cannot recommend it to anyone.

For a moment I thought I was in Turkey. No god how much choice they have there. Breathe Abi has opened a really good shop. Place is great. Parking options available. Customer friendliness in the top league.

There are better places in Berlin to have breakfast

Totally good food. Unfortunately the cook is already home, so we didn't get any more mante. So the owner put together a meal for us from a variety of different foods so that the five of us were full. Totally nice people.

Unfortunately, a menemen without onions is not possible. This means that anyone who has an allergy cannot eat menemen. I am very disappointed. Unfortunately, the rest didn't taste very great either. Never again. We are in Berlin. There are enough Turks here who can do real menemen.

Urgent need for action among staff, it was a total failure. Both completely listless and the waitress didn't even know her own offer. I don't want to go into every detail of this chaos, but in a nutshell: after an hour we left. We didn't get any drinks at all during this time. Only half of the food came, it was lukewarm and unfortunately without cutlery or bread. We only got both after the second (already louder) request. When paying at the counter, the lady wanted to collect the entire order, even though only a fraction made it to us...embarrassing behavior. About the ambience: could be really nice, unfortunately sticky tables full of dirty dishes. We would have liked to have avoided the experience!

I was here for breakfast today, the menemem was very tasty as always. I then ordered butter and jam, and an extra 5 euros were charged for a small bowl of jam and a piece of butter. I think that's usury. That's why I can't recommend this restaurant.

Great food, fair price, pleasant atmosphere

Once our favorite restaurant for Sunday relaxation. We haven't been there for a while because we've had several bad experiences with the service and wanted to try again last Sunday. It was already very full when we arrived, but we managed to get a good seat inside. The order was taken quickly, but things only went downhill from there. Drinks came after more than half an hour of waiting and only after asking again (1 tea and 1 coffee). After more than an hour there was still no food or food in sight. We then left and kindly didn't have to pay for the drinks. The food is actually very good and good value for money. But the service is terribly bad. The times before it was also the case that the food came either wrong, cold or only half and you always had to ask what was going on with this and that. They all seemed very overwhelmed. It's a shame, we always enjoyed staying there, but we won't be coming back!

Unfortunately not like it was a year ago. Eat lukewarm and little. Fresh juices warm. Tea comes 30 minutes after dinner. A pity. You don't have to go visit again.

Taste wise an 8/10 but service staff absolutely incompetent. Always forgetting something and don't know anything about their menu. An absolute catastrophe! Not to mention the completely filthy toilet. Prices rather expensive.

We've been there from time to time, we actually always liked it and recommended it to others in the Wrangelkiez, but unfortunately today it wasn't a good experience. My vegan breakfast included menemen with egg and when we asked whether it was even a vegan breakfast because there was also a pepper filled with cream cheese, no one was interested. To be honest, I think from the taste there was some sucuk in it, but that can't be proven anymore. The menemen was replaced with something vegan and the breakfast was ok too. I think the store is well received, and I don't want to spoil everything here. Personally, I won't come back and won't recommend it, but I don't think anyone will care, nor whether I got the breakfast I ordered.

- Service: =0, table reserved arrived a few minutes later, they said 5 minutes waiting time then 10 then 15 and in the end it was 45 minutes waiting time. Then we were seated on a table where, 2 minutes later, we were asked to sit down on another table. One of the waiters is just standing at the counter, looking around, playing on his cell phone and enjoying his carrot juice while gesturing to wait for their food and take orders. Organization =0 - Food: Everything was lukewarm and almost inedible. Ambience: Restaurant generally nice but unfortunately small

Nobody will be able to exorcise my love for Turkish breakfast dishes. Been here a few times and Gözleme is definitely my favorite. Very closely followed by the really delicious pancakes. Of course there is always fruit! Coffee is average. It could now come with mouthfeel, aromas, crema and milk (foam) quality, but most people wouldn't be able to do anything with that anyway. Service has always been top. Friendly, courteous employees.

I went with my family, we were 4 people, it was on a Saturday, yes it was very crowded, we waited and it was really worth the wait. In the comments, many people write that we had to wait, but this is not anyone's fault, the employees do their best, they are very friendly, it is a really nice atmosphere, thank you Sumak family.

I came from Turkey to do my master's degree. I am very lucky to find such a cafe. It really made me feel like I was in Turkey. There is no difference between their menemen and their flatbreads. We come here often with my friends, it's a really great cafe, thank you very much.

We ate menemen and unfortunately found or bit into eggshells in both dishes. The menemen was a little too runny, but otherwise delicious. But for the price of just under €10 it is a bit expensive. Unfortunately, Gözleme was no longer there (at 1 p.m.).

There is no better place to have breakfast than Sumak. ☕️🍳🥗 I go here almost every weekend and there is nothing to complain about. Of course, they sometimes have a lot to do, but they've never had to wait long for food. The bread is more than perfect and you get as much of it as you need. Cáy a 10/10. The service is very good and the new waiter takes great care of you and is very attentive. And I swear I'm full all day from just one breakfast.😚😚😚

They put on the door that they accepting with the card. But everytime when we are trying to pay they are to cheat: once they told that not accepting less thank 10€, today they told me that terminal is not working. Summarized i think the new owners are cheating with the taxes, therefore they are not accepting payment. I will call finanzamt.

Nice for breakfast, even if the tables inside are a bit too narrow. There are also vegetarian and vegan breakfast options and various freshly squeezed juices. Prices still okay.

I cannot recommend this restaurant due to poor service, dirty toilet, lack of hygiene standards and prices that are way too expensive. This restaurant urgently needs to work on hygiene standards, the glasses and cutlery were not clean, which is no wonder if everything is in a dirty plastic bowl The toilet and the floor were full of dirt. The waiter was totally confused and forgot some things in the order. You should pay attention to what you ordered and what you got, otherwise you'll pay for food that you didn't get There are a thousand times better Turkish restaurants than this.

Well, whoever writes in the review that this is the best shop in all of Berlin has probably only been in the shop so far. When we visited the restaurant, the waiter/owner was very overwhelmed. We had ordered food... after 10 minutes he asked us what we had ordered because he had forgotten to write down our order... When the food finally arrived When it was served to us at the table, I wasn't that thrilled.... Salad had brown spots and cheese wasn't the freshest either. We won't go there anymore.

Wir sind zu diesem Restaurant aufgrund der positiven Bewertungen, jedoch waren wir eher der Meinung, dass diese positiven Bewertungen gekauft sein müssen. Service dauerte ewig, das Essen war so la la und die Ambiente eher negativ, da mehrere Beschwerden erfolgt sind. Die Linsensuppe war der komplette Flop (verbrannt und nicht frisch). Der Frühstücksteller war okay, aber da kann man eh nicht viel falsch machen…

Ein durchschnittlicher laden zum frühstücken. Dort werden türkische Frühstücksspeisen angeboten. Preislich noch im Rahmen.

пришли на завтрак в воскресенье к 11.00. ноябрь, нас посадили на улице, потому что была полная загрузка. сидели час двадцать минут, замерзли, заказа так и не дождались. хотя несколько раз официант несколько раз обещал, что сейчас все будет. я все понимаю, полная посадка и так далее, но нужно как-то соизмерять свои силы и просто не сажать, если понятно, что не получается справиться с таким потоком людей.

Sehr lange wartezeit bis zur bestellung, der tisch war komplett verklebt. Habe 3x gefragt ob er denn tisch reinigen kann vergeben. Das essen hat auch sehr lang gedauert

Has the sumak breakfast and it was really bad. The cream cheeses were store bought, the salad wasn’t crisp, the sucuk and other sausage was cold and un-cooked. The only good thing was the honey, bread and cream (which were all store bought as well). In addition they made a mistake with the bill but were totally unhelpful. Would really not recommend this place.
