Sucre et Sel in Berlin

Food wise , nothing incredible, too expensive for what it is. Boeuf bourgignon was very fade, couldn’t taste the red wine at all in its sauce, and the magret was super chewy to the point where we had to put our glasses on another table as ours was wobbly and trying to cut the duck was shaking the table dangerously. The service was not great at all, inefficient, slow and messy, confusion with our booking despite calling the restaurant 15 minutes earlier to let them know that we would be a few minutes late, slow in setting up the table we decided to sit at (being a waitress myself I know it can be annoying when customers decide to sit at a an uncleared table but they were polishing glasses hence could have set the table within a few minutes), we had to wait a good 15-20 minutes to get our cutlery… And the cherry on top, two customers next to us were drunk and one of them threw a ball of paper at my partner, then the other one proceeded to break a glass. As soon as that happened, we cancelled the desserts and left. It must have been one of my worst experiences in a supposedly “posh” restaurant.

I celebrated my birthday there with a friend and we had a wonderful time. Marko, our waiter, was attentive and knowledgeable. All around a wonderful experience.

We had Christmas dinner there, the place is not very big but it is cozy. The food was very delicious and the service was also great, there were many of us and there were never any mistakes in the dishes we had ordered. Maybe I would include something vegan in the dessert.

Overall it was a nice evening. The food was good. The service raises questions and why people are not quite as well prepared for the obvious things in the service, e.g. B,. a functioning flambé device or the simultaneous delivery of drinks. Still 4 stars.

The waiters were nice, and the vibe in the restaurant was cozy, but the kitchen was really unprofessional. We ordered a beef tenderloin cooked medium, but what we received was well done. After informing the waiter, and after some discussion, he offered a new beef tenderloin. However, what happened next was something I’ve never experienced before: the cook brought us a completely raw piece of meat. We then saw her looking at our table and laughing with the other cooks. After sending it back again, it was still not cooked medium. We decided to pay and leave. I think the cook's behavior was highly unprofessional, and we had the feeling they were making fun of us. You can't charge that amount of money for a steak if the cook can't even cook it to medium."

Los camareros eran agradables, y el ambiente en el restaurante era acogedor, pero la cocina era muy poco profesional. Pedimos un solomillo de ternera medio cocido, pero lo que recibimos estuvo bien hecho. Después de informar al camarero, y después de una discusión, ofreció un nuevo solomillo de ternera. Sin embargo, lo que pasó después fue algo que nunca antes había experimentado: el cocinero nos trajo un trozo de carne completamente crudo. Luego la vimos mirando nuestra mesa y riéndose con los otros cocineros. Después de enviarlo de nuevo, todavía no estaba cocido medio. Decidimos pagar e irnos. Creo que el comportamiento del cocinero era muy poco profesional, y teníamos la sensación de que se burlaban de nosotros. It's been a while since I was there with a friend. But the fact that the service in *ing Berlin is not familiar with the term “vegan” is tough. (No cheese but still créme fraîche, huh?) Being treated condescendingly and having to pay for dishes that you can't eat. In short, not recommended. Edit: Previous post was removed by the owner.

Came here in the summer. The food tastes amazing, the waiters were super nice, nice wine selection and great atmosphere. Just perfect, can’t wait to come back!

Had confit de canard. Soft and delicious (though skin was floppy). Mash was lumpy - no apple or honey to be found (though says it's served with both). Server was pleasant when he spoke to me, but - despite being the first/only person in the restaurant - was on his phone a lot and only welcomed/approached when enough time had passed that I felt awkward enough to approach. Intended to eat in but eventually just ordered to go because it was uncomfortable. Expensive for what it is.

We were there yesterday and all in all it was a nice evening. The food was very good in my opinion, especially the tuna and avocado tartare and the dessert blew me away! The service was also very friendly. However, I have to agree with many other reviews regarding the ambience. Far too little space, someone was always running into your chair and due to the size of the room it was very loud throughout. If you like that, it's a great restaurant. Unfortunately I wouldn't go there again for dinner.

I went there for my birthday dinner and found it to be a charming, cozy little restaurant. The food was good overall; I had the cod, which was well-prepared but not particularly memorable. However, my husband ordered the duck, and it was absolutely delicious. While the ambiance was pleasant, I felt that the prices were a bit high for what was offered. All in all, it was a nice experience, but I might explore other options before returning.

One of my favourite places in Berlin for lunch, hidden away off the Torstrasse. The steak haché is terrific. Nice to eat and then have a coffee and read a book.

Food was good, as usual, but 2 dissapointing things today (is not the first time I go). First, the waiting time, today was a bit too much, 2h in total from the moment I parked (in front of the door) until I left, I needed to, after 1h30m, go to buy a different parking ticket because we didn't expect more than 1h30m for dinner. The second, and hopefully the management reads this, the galette au chocolat dissapeared. When you have the best dessert in the whole Berlin, you cannot replace it with an average "coulant au chocolat". We actually went, on purpose, from the other corner of the city because we loved the galette au chocolat, and when it came and this time was a coulant, my girlfriend and me were both dissapointed, quite in fact, since it went, at least in my oppinion, from being the best dessert in Berlin worth a 30minute car ride to go and 30 to return, to just other coulant of chocolate. If the galette returns, I would love the management replies to this message, honestly, my feeling is removing it you killed the best part of the meal.

I used to enjoy going to Sucre et Sel, as the food, the service and the staff on site are great. I've been going there a few times a year since 2014, later I've also started to order there for delivery. I never had issues when eating in the restaurant, but recently there have been too many issues with the delivery and the last one was the last straw. We ordered, among other things, the duck leg (Confit de Canard), the description on Wolt (and I later checked, the menu on the restaurant's website says the same thing) says that it is with apples and honey. What we got was completely different: a brown sauce with plums (not mentioned on the menu), a ridiculous single small piece of apple and absolutely no honey, two of us tasted it, we could not detect honey at all. We complained through Wolt customer service, any refund was denied, no explanations, no apologies, no compensation. Mistakes can happen, but then, one should stand up for it. I did not feel valued as a loyal customer, it seems they do not care about customer satisfaction (anymore). I used to be a regular for 10 years, but now, it's over, quite a shame, but I can't support a business that treats customers this way. Either they don't believe/trust us when we say it did not taste as it should according to what the description says, either the description is wrong, anyway, there is definitely an issue when you don't get what you excepted and the restaurant doesn't aknowledge a mistake has been made.

Waiter was nice and attentive. Atmosphere is nice. But the food is very low for such a high price. Tartar was weird, sour and tough and totally disappointed. Chicken was ok, but too salty. Wine was very good. The price is too high for just normal food.

I ordered something through Uber Eats and the entire order came wrong. My Flammkuchen was the wrong one and they didn't send one of the items. Since Uber Eats customer service is also unhelpful, I contacted the restaurant about this issue directly, since it was their fault at the end and not the delivery person's or even Uber Eats. They simply replied "What can we do? There's nothing we can do. There's no one here to deliver these things to you.". This is so unprofessional. Not even a sorry, just a "there's nothing we can do". So I don't recommend this restaurant.

I ordered a couple of times already there and it was always perfect. This time we spend time in the restaurant and it was just amazing. The taste of my duck and the mussels was a 11 out of 10. Bit pricy in total but absolut worthy. Go there and you will not regret it. Promise!!

Really a nice place to visit during the summer holidays. Located right next to Torstrasse, but it doesn't matter. The outdoor area is cozy and the food is excellent. Their flammkuchen doesn't get better. We've been there before and we'll definitely be back.

Ich habe selten ein Restaurant besucht, das mich so sehr begeistert hat wie dieses. Von dem Moment an, als ich das Lokal betrat, war ich beeindruckt von der stilvollen und gemütlichen Atmosphäre. Die Einrichtung ist geschmackvoll und modern, gleichzeitig aber auch einladend und warm. Der Service war außergewöhnlich. Das Personal war äußerst aufmerksam, freundlich und kompetent. Man spürt, dass hier mit Leidenschaft und Herzblut gearbeitet wird. Jeder Wunsch wurde uns von den Lippen abgelesen und prompt erfüllt. Das Highlight des Abends war natürlich das Essen. Die Speisekarte bietet eine wunderbare Auswahl an kreativen und exquisiten Gerichten. Jeder Gang war ein Gedicht! Die Zutaten waren frisch und von höchster Qualität, die Zubereitung auf den Punkt perfekt. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist mehr als fair. Für die Qualität und den Service, den man hier erhält, sind die Preise absolut angemessen. Jeder Cent war es wert! Zusammenfassend kann ich dieses Restaurant nur wärmstens empfehlen. Es ist ein Ort, an dem man sich rundum wohlfühlt und kulinarisch verwöhnt wird. Ich freue mich schon auf meinen nächsten Besuch!

Great service and cozy outdoor location

The food was very flavorful and technically well executed. I first had the Moules Marinières which had a light, creamy broth and meaty mussels. It was high quality cooking and great service. The staff are welcoming and the ambience was also nice. Convenient location too in the heart of Berlin.

I give it 4 only because my husband liked the duck. I ordered chicken and it was very dry, very dry. The puree had lumps, and the carrots in this dish were obviously superfluous (see photo). Salads were also served with the main courses. I didn’t really like the wine (I don’t remember the name, unfortunately). Great service! Very polite and pleasant waitress. You don't often meet such nice waiters in Germany, honestly. The atmosphere is a 4. There isn't much space, so it's a bit cramped. The toilet is not comfortable, there is only one shared toilet and there is a kitchen on the side of the toilet. Well, that's it. But it’s clear that she put a lot of effort into the design and is trying (candles, flowers, photos, table setting). You will find current prices for June 2024 in the photo. A big hello and thank you to today's waitress 06/17!

I had the pleasure of visiting Sucre Et Sel in Berlin and was hooked from the start. The furnishings are not only beautiful, but also create a welcoming atmosphere that invites you to linger. However, I was particularly impressed by the restaurant's ethical decision to remove the cruelty-free animal product foie gras from the menu. This clear stance towards animal welfare and sustainability deserves big praise! Sucre Et Sel is not only a place for delicious French cuisine, but also a pioneer of responsible behavior in the catering industry. I can highly recommend it!

A beautifully decorated restaurant with friendly staff who really care that you have a good time. It's nice that foie gras was recently taken off the menu here. It is so important that restaurants with a dedicated national cuisine also show that They also use these cruel practices of forced fattening. Even if other dishes with animal ingredients are sold here, you can at least be aware that the restaurant you eat at no longer supports forced fattening.

We were a party of three to celebrate my birthday and it was such an excellent decision to go to this cute little French style restaurant! We were sitting inside but they have an outside area too. The french owner and the waiter are both extremely friendly and offer a very attentive service. The food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!

Natürlich, hier ist die überarbeitete Version unter Berücksichtigung Ihrer Ergänzungen: Obwohl wir keine besonderen Frankreich-Enthusiasten sind, entschieden wir uns dazu, online eine Lieferung aus dem Restaurant zu bestellen. Unser Entschluss basierte eher auf unserer Herkunft aus der Grenzregion und den familiären Verbindungen nach Frankreich. Da wir häufig in Frankreich unterwegs sind, einschließlich Paris, kennen wir uns mit den meisten französischen Restaurants in Berlin gut aus. Wir schätzen besonders die Feinheiten der französischen Küche, wie beispielsweise die selten anzutreffende Delikatesse Foie Gras. Als wir sahen, dass Foie Gras auch auf der Speisekarte dieses Restaurants stand, und da wir dieses Lokal bisher noch nicht ausprobiert hatten, freuten wir uns darauf. Leider enttäuschte uns die Qualität der gelieferten Terrine de Foie Gras zutiefst. Sie war ranzig, grau und auch geschmacklich nicht genießbar. Es stellt sich die Frage, was der Mitarbeiter, der offensichtlich eine ungenießbare Terrine serviert hat, sich dabei gedacht hat. Eine frische Foie Gras ist leicht von einer bereits ranzigen und verdorbenen zu unterscheiden. Es ist bedauerlich, dass entweder die Unkenntnis oder mangelnde Sorgfalt dazu geführt haben, dass ein derartiges Produkt überhaupt geliefert wurde. Sowohl für die Kunden als auch für das Ansehen des Restaurants ist eine solche Nachlässigkeit inakzeptabel. Wir waren zudem enttäuscht, dass uns die Qualität des Essens nicht nur enttäuschte, sondern auch physische Beschwerden verursachte, obwohl wir nur einen kleinen Teil davon gegessen hatten. Dies verdeutlichte uns, dass eine erneute Bestellung bei diesem Restaurant keine Option mehr für uns darstellt. Es ist bedauerlich, dass die Sorgfalt im Umgang mit Kunden fehlt, was im Grunde als fahrlässig angesehen werden kann. Es bleibt zu hoffen, dass das Personal des Restaurants, insbesondere wenn es um delikate Produkte wie Foie Gras geht, besser geschult wird, um solche Vorfälle in Zukunft zu vermeiden. Der Rest des bestellten Essens hat uns im Übrigen sehr gut geschmeckt, umso bedauerlicher ist diese Erfahrung für uns. Aufgrund des physischen Unbehagens brauchte ich einen gewissen zeitlichen Abstand, um diese Kritik zu schreiben. Die Zwischenzeit haben wir in Französisch-Polynesien verbracht, wo man übrigens ganz selbstverständlich eine sehr frische einwandfreie Terrine de Foie Gras im Restaurant serviert bekommt.

We were guests at Sucre Et Sel on a Friday evening. The restaurant itself is not large but is well furnished and cleverly appears larger thanks to the mirrored wall. The service was very attentive and quick from start to finish - the only small criticism was that no cooler was provided with the bottle of white wine. As a starter I had the goat cheese, which was delicious with salad and fruit. For the main course we ordered the mussels with French fries and a tarte flambée with goat cheese. Both very tasty - the tarte flambée was very lavishly topped. For the mussels, I found the white wine sauce to be a bit too special. The price-performance ratio of the food is okay - I found wine prices a bit high at €10.5 per glass for 0.15L.

Unfortunately, this time i didn;t save pictures but we had: tartar and flammkuchen and both were really delicious! Fried potatoes were nice and crunchy, i really liked meat in tartar. Flammkuchen was with prunes and i liked it a lot!

More of a tourist trap. Artificial atmosphere full of fake accessories on the wall. Very uncomfortable chairs. The tuna tartare starter was a lot, was totally salty, carelessly prepared with too much oil and not entirely fresh, so I was afraid of food poisoning. The main course Confit de Canard also tasted very unpleasantly like a canned dish (maybe really from a can?). The cheese plate at the end only offered cheap to mediocre things at best. The service was friendly, but seemed quite helpless and unprofessional. Overall, I think it's really outrageous that the two of us spent more than 100 euros for this quality. It's a mystery to me how the restaurant is holding up; probably because of the clueless tourists.

My girlfriend and I visited Sucre Et Sel on 10/17/2023 at 8pm, and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing experiences we have ever had at a restaurant. The starter "UN PEU DE TOUT" was acceptable, but the main course, the "ENTRECÔTE MAÎTRE D'HÔTEL" 300g, was simply inedible. The meat was tough and laced with tendons, which completely spoiled our appetite. Despite our complaint and a waiter's friendly apology, the main course remained on the bill. Only after persistent insistence on speaking to another member of staff was the dish removed from the bill. The service also left a lot to be desired. One waiter seemed overwhelmed and the other was disrespectful and unprofessional. Overall our visit to Sucre Et Sel was a huge disappointment. If an employee responds to my review, yes! I ate at the right restaurant and yes! the meat was not good. Why I'm writing my review 4 months later is completely irrelevant. I still have the invoice.

If you are looking for good, authentic French food in Berlin, this is the place to go! I had a delightful dinner here: the selection was great, the food was delicious, and staff were all super friendly and provided great service. I highly recommend it.

We ate here for the second time yesterday and were impressed again. The service was great. We had duck liver pate and goat cheese as starters, which were delicious. We particularly liked the entrecôte. All in all, it was an excellent meal and we would love to come back.

There were three of us there. The food was very good, but not a revelation and the portion was too small for me. The other two had enough. We didn't like the acoustics and the toilet was unreasonable, but the decoration and service were great.

We had Christmas dinner here. It's a teeny restaurant that's clearly quite popular given the constant take out we saw! The people were incredibly nice and accommodating of my daughter's dietary issues. Two great duck dishes and a delicious chocolate dessert.

We had a very delicious dinner here. Everything on the plate was absolutely delicious, so kudos to the kitchen. The dining room has a maximum of seats/tables, but it wasn't too noisy overall, although you could follow the conversations at the neighboring tables word for word. I deducted one star because there is only one toilet and the seat is totally loose. I asked the service staff about it, but the only answer I got was "I know, but there's nothing I can do about it."

Possibly the best French restaurant in the city 😃 l, right on Rosenthaler Platz. The cozy atmosphere is very inviting. The dishes are absolutely recommended. My favorite is Margret de Canard. Whenever I'm in Berlin I try to get a table here.

I had my best meal in Berlin this evening. EXCELLENT avocado-chicken salad, good wine with a steak just as it should be and a delicious tartin. Very delicious meal and a splendid evening with my girlfriend - that is untill the waitress came with the check and seriously asked us if we would consider giving 10 or 15 % in tip. Our romantic evening was suddenly over, and we were faces with a begger with no manors. We already decided that we would give a good tip, but this was very unpleasant and really gave the evening a bad taste. Such a shame after a very good meal.

God stemning i en intim liten restaurant. Hyggelig og avslappet betjening som gav god servic. Vi spiste en tre retters middag som smakte veldig godt, gode råvarer. Vinen som ble servert til maten var ypperlig.

Brilliant venue and the staff were absolutely fantastic. Jazel and Tim were nothing short of amazing and they made our weekend in Berlin so special! If you ever come here and have the pleasure of meeting them, I’m sure they will make your evening as special as our :) Thanks guys!!!

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Giselle was absolutely incredible, never seen a waitress like her. So massively attentive and helpful throughout the night. Tim was also absolutely fantastic, they both pour an excellent beer. They need a raise! Couldn’t recommend this place more. Ps, get the confit du canard, absolutely gorgeous. 10/10

Leider nich mehr so, wie wir es von der Qualität kannten. Thunfischtatar waren Fischbrocken, Kühlschrank kalt und schmeckte auch nach Kühlschrank. Ratatouille war grob und fad, die Entenbrust halbiert, halb roh und mit weißer Sauce und das Kartoffelstampf auch fad. Die Vorspeisen kamen vor den Getränken… nun ja, es war mal sein Geld wert und entweder der Standard schwankt sehr stark oder wir hatten einen schlechten Samstag - sehr schade. Und nen Glas Wasser teurer als ne Cola…. Es gibt besseres für das Geld
