Had the best evening at Sucre et Sel! An absolute highlight in Berlin's international gastro scene - delicious French food, lovely and attentive staff and very pleasant atmosphere. We shared the Gambas in garlic butter, had the Boeuf Bourgignon and the Confit de Carnard as mains, and closed with Crème Brulée and Tarte Tatin as desserts. High quality ingredients, cooked to perfection and presented with beautiful plate decorations. The Crèmant and wine pairing made it even better. Already looking forward to the next visit!

The restaurant has a good atmosphere. The service is reasonable, but not competent! They make their prices seem higher than they actually are. The result is very mediocre! The fries were soggy, and the meat was served lukewarm (temperature). There were four of us eating, and no one was impressed with the food! We give it a 6-.

Unfortunately, the bistro didn't live up to our expectations. It started when we arrived at 6 p.m. and the dining room was still being heated. The appetizer was tasty. For our main courses, we chose duck breast and confit de canard. Both dishes were served on cold plates, so the food was too cold, and the confit came with a rather bland sauce. The only surprise was the exceptionally delicious beans we ordered on the side. The service was friendly and attentive, but the staff spoke only broken English in addition to French. In short: typical Berlin-Mitte. You spend a lot of money for a mediocre overall experience!

Some of the worst food I've had in Berlin. And that's saying something.

Every time I visit Berlin, two or three times a year, a visit to Sucre et Sal has been a must. Unfortunately, this weekend wasn't a pleasant experience. The food is still very, very good. But sadly, the restaurant doesn't get warm once it gets a bit chilly outside. On top of that, it feels almost like a fast-food joint – every five to ten minutes a delivery driver comes by to pick up something, bringing a cold draft and creating a lot of commotion. A real shame!

There were two of us, and we ordered soup, a tarte flambée, and beef bourguignon, along with two glasses of wine each. I found the price-performance ratio unacceptable. We spent €100 between us, and the food was mediocre to poor by French standards. The wine, at €11 per glass, was overpriced for what it was. In short... I was looking forward to a nice French evening, and I have to be honest, I can't really recommend it. The beef was unfortunately tough, and the dish is usually characterized by the meat being slow-cooked until very tender. The tarte flambée was almost burnt. However, the service was very friendly and attentive.

Delicious food, reasonable prices, polite staff, overall absolutely recommend. They have daily specials, the broccoli soup was particularly delicious.

Next door to my hotel, I had dinner here on 10 Nov 2025. Both food and service were excellent. A generous avocado tartare hors d‘oeuvre was followed by moules frites for main course, accompanied by a glass of Sancerre. Recommended.

I had made a table reservation for two people for my birthday, expecting to spend a special evening in a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, things turned out quite differently: Despite a confirmed reservation, we were turned away upon arrival because the restaurant had accepted a larger group at short notice and thus overbooked itself. After being left standing at the door for about 10 minutes, we were offered a seat on the terrace as an "alternative" – in mid-October, with correspondingly cool temperatures, that was simply not an option. It is absolutely incomprehensible how a restaurant could handle reservations so carelessly, especially on a special occasion like a birthday. A timely cancellation or at least a heads-up would have been the least they could do – instead, we were left without a table. For a restaurant of this caliber, I expect significantly more professionalism and reliability. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing evening for us. We will DEFINITELY not be coming back.

The food was great, the service was okay 😳 I expect the service in Berlin to speak German. And if you ask for four separate bills but only get one, and the service can't even calculate the individual bills correctly, that's a no-go 🤦🏼‍♀️

I haven't eaten such good food in a long time. The goat cheese, beans, and rosemary potatoes, as well as my crème brûlée, were a dream. The service was super friendly and the ambiance was lovely. We recommend making a reservation, as it's a small place.

We were at the wonderful Sucre Et Sel again. This time, however, we were unfortunately moved outside – despite having made a reservation weeks in advance. That was a bit annoying. But the service, the food, and the wine selection made up for it. Truly excellent! Still, something like that puts you off a bit, especially since it was a special occasion.

I love this place authentic French food. I was engaged here and even had my dinner after our government wedding here. Everyone is so lovely and accommodating with a great atmosphere and vibe.

The cocktails were terrible for the price, not even up to par. The beef stew was too lean and lacking in meat, and the sauce was too salty. The seating was cramped, and I definitely wouldn't return.

I found this place to be mediocre. I asked to taste a beer and was assured ok. But they brought a huge glass. It turns out that all the beers are in bottles. They can’t give just a taste. The wait person didn’t seem to know this. My beouf bourgingon was good but the “Gorgonzola” potatoes were awful. A huge scoop of tasteless mashed potatoes with no cheese. And the crème brulèe was also mediocre. Not much taste and not much custard. My partner’s meat and cheese platter was delicious. Inside was hot, stuffy, crowded, and noisy. Outside (where smokers influenced our meal) was also noisy. Loud music did not encourage conversation. I’m mostly annoyed with the disappointing potatoes. They also came lukewarm warm and I had to request they be heated. They might even have been “instant”. But they did sop up the beef gravy. Prices were reasonable for a french restaurant.

Frankly, disheartening! We were already customers and had decided to order this evening. But what a shame! The dish was inedible – we doubt the fish came from "leftovers." And it took 1.5 hours to cook?! We won't be back. And it has nothing to do with the delivery service – which was lovely and took a very long time to pick up this damned dish! Ehrlich gesagt, schade! We were all guests and ordered today. But schade! The complaint was inedible – the leftover fish was still wohl kaum from "Leftovers." And we have needed 1.5 hours for delivery?! We will not return.

Discovered it by accident, just wondering through Berlin. I really enjoyed it the food was fantastic and will definitely go back! The only thing is that with the place definitely being popular, they need more personnel. But if you are not in a hurry, I highly recommend it

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A touch of Paris in Berlin. Sucre et Sel enchants with its charming, bistro-like atmosphere. The starter, a delicate tuna tartare, was wonderfully fresh, perfectly seasoned, and elegantly presented. The maitre d'hôtel steak as the main course was tender, juicy, and masterfully prepared. A real highlight, folks. The crème brûlée to finish was seductively creamy, with a delicate caramel crust, simply heavenly. The service was incredibly attentive and warm. All in all, a gourmet experience that will make you forget your everyday life for a few hours. Highly recommended. Best 🦖

We enjoyed each of the dishes we had. The French fries were the best I have ever had. The mussels were soo fresh and soo many. The cheese was to die for. Nagy was soo lovely and took such good care of us. We will come again next time we are in Berlin.

We had beef, duck confit and duck breast. Super salty duck confit and tough beef/duck. Condiments are good, but when the proteins couldn’t be cut with a knive, it’s impossible to chew. Service was friendly, but when they spill our drink on the table we got an apology, but no attempt to clean it up. Very very disappointed, especially based on all the rave reviews.

Update 2025: The owner is trying to suppress bad reviews on Google with complaints instead of optimizing the quality. Everything was perfect under the previous owners. My experience: The beef tartare was bland and tasted like "refrigerated food." However, it was then spiced up in the kitchen and was spicier, but the "refrigerated" flavor remained. The service handled the complaint professionally, offering us a Ricard and dessert. This somewhat alleviated the frustration of the disappointing evening. All in all, it was far too expensive and overrated for the modest service – 0.15 liters of wine cost €10.

We had a great evening, enjoying the small restaurant, we enjoyed 4 different main dishes, and ended with a chocolate fondant, the kids loved it and we shared a cheesecake from heaven, what a treat

My husband and I were here on Sunday to celebrate our anniversary. The waiter was very attentive and we really enjoyed the service. The food was also delicious. My husband had cod and I had salmon. The fish was cooked very well. The mashed potatoes, yes, were lumpy, but incredibly tasty. I would have asked for more) they definitely didn't skimp on the butter. The wine and champagne were also excellent. The toilet may be a bit small. But that's a minor detail. Beautiful interior and pleasant French music. For dessert we had chocolate fondant and crème brûlée. The fondant was gorgeous. Just top notch.

Everything was great! We searched TripAdvisor for a restaurant serving French cuisine and came across Sucre et Sel. Despite the restaurant being full, we managed to get a table. The service was very friendly and helpful. The food was typical French fare – delicious, authentic, and prepared with love. The wines were delicious. Unfortunately, there was no room for dessert – we were too full. We'd love to go back, and thank you for your great work. Merci!

Wir waren unter Woche abends da. Ohne Reservierung. Wir hatten aber sofort einen schönen Platz auf der Terrasse bekommen. Tolles Ambiente, nur etwas laut. Nun ja, dafür liegt es sehr zentral. Der Service ist überaus freundlich und zackig. Die Speisekarte bietet für alle etwas. Mein Beef Tatar war eines der Besten, das ich bisher gegessen habe. Das Putenschnitzel eines Freundes leider tot gebraten und uninspiriert. Das Rote Beete Bourgignon war gut. Das Ganze nicht ganz billig, aber auch nicht wirklich überteuert. 3 Hauptgänge, 3 Getränke und einen Kaffee für insgesamt ca. 110 EUR. Wir kommen sicher wieder.

I wandered in by chance, and it was a very good decision. The only complaints here are those at a high level. The side salad could have used a bit more zest. The duck was delicious, and the tuna appetizer was a surprise with, in my opinion, a bit too much pepper. The wine selection is excellent. And when you're sitting inside, you sometimes forget you're in Berlin. The touch of Paris is palpable. 🙋

The food is good, no question. Unfortunately, I miss the set menu options that are common in France 🇫🇷. It's getting quite expensive... The French usually eat set menus... There weren't any baguettes 🥖 placed on the table with the meal either... A good restaurant, for sure, but some things could be improved and made more appealing to encourage more frequent visits.

Tuvimos un delicioso almuerzo aquí con cocina muy típica estilo francés. El servicio era bueno y las porciones eran generosas. Una muy buena experiencia!

First of all, I'd like to say that it was a very nice evening. The food was delicious, and the service was very attentive and friendly. I still wouldn't come back. Here's why: The prices for the food are completely inflated (chicken fillet with mashed potatoes and a few lettuce leaves arranged very decoratively on the plate for almost €24. Vegetables had to be ordered and paid for separately. Starters were all priced at the same level as main courses). The dining room itself is very cramped. The door opens regularly and UberEats delivery drivers come and pick up something. That bothers me, at least. The restroom situation is creative—very clean, but only one toilet for everyone. The toilet bowl is more suitable for hobbits...very, very low. I had trouble getting back up because there wasn't much space. As mentioned above, it was still a nice evening.

Wir wohnen in der Nähe des gemütlichen Restaurants und gehen seit Jahren dort essen. Das Essen war immer sehr gut. Gestern hatten wir Ziegenkäse mit Honig und Walnuss, Thunfisch-Tatar mit Avocado, Confit de Canard, Taretare de Boef, Filet de Boeuf und zum Dessert Fondant au Chocolat. Besser kann ein Abendessen nicht laufen ;) Eine gute Adresse, wenn man in Berlin klassische französische Küche genießen möchte. Da das Restaurant sehr klein ist, unbedingt einen Tisch reservieren.

Horrible, never again! Waited 40 minutes for the appetizer. The door keeps opening and closing, it's cold. Delivery people keep coming in. The broccoli soup is watery. The cash register doesn't work. Simply a nightmare. The restaurant is complete chaos.

Wir hatten eine Tour Bartour Berlin by Barlight gebucht. Mit Max und Minona ging es auf meine Reise unterschiedlicher Bars Rund um den Rosenthaler Platz, in Berlin Mitte. Bei einem Signatures Drink wahlweise mit Whiskey oder Amatetto, der sich außerhalb der Karte befand erklärte uns Max die perfekte Baratmosphäre. Es waren für mich unterhaltsamer nette Stunden in der Bar und wir hatten viel Freude an der Tour.

Bonito lugar. Hay asientos dentro y fuera. Un comensal sentado afuera tenía a su perro con ella. El personal era amable, aunque el servicio era un poco caótico ya que el restaurante estaba ocupado. La comida era muy buena. No es el más barato pero agradable para un regalo.

Inmitten zwiespältiger Angebote für die vielen Touristen an der Torstrasse befindet sich dieses Kleinod mit exzellenter französischer Küche. Angenehme Atmosphäre, nette Bedienung, das Boeuf Bourguignon ist exzellent. Auch die Tarte Tatin sehr lecker.

This restaurant was a random choice made by my companion from the list of restaurants I provided. We were very pleased with the cozy atmosphere, amazing service, friendly people around us, and, importantly, the well-thought-out design with tiny but remarkable details. It was a little fancier than I expected. I came here with my cousin. I visited after a long day because Google said they had cheesecake, ultimately ended up ordering and immediately taking my cheesecake home because I didn't realize I was too tired to dine in until I was there. We forgot to pay and were quite a ways down the road before one of the staff came and caught us. They were very understanding of the mistake and very kind about it. Waitress was very sweet and patient with us, despite bumbling in and out a bit awkwardly. The cheesecake was excellent.

The evening started with disappointment because there was no tarte flambée. We chose ratatouille and confit de canard instead. Both were very good, the duck meat was very tender, only the skin was a bit burnt in some places. Still, very good. Instead of dessert, we particularly enjoyed the espresso martini, which was just the right strength. I do discount the prices for glasses of wine, I find them too high. The service was very attentive.

Very good French restaurant in Berlin. I ate excellent beef bourguignon there, just like I had in my childhood. The crème brulee for dessert was great. Definitely not the cheapest restaurant you'll ever go to, but it's worth it. It would be nice to have more veggie options on the menu.

Been there couple times now. One of the closest experience you can have in terms of French cuisine. The card isn’t too elaborated but dishes are very well seasoned and cooked. It’s all that matters. Wine selection is good too. The staff is very lovely too and happy to help. Yes it will be more expensive than in France but it’s worth every penny.

You discover Sucre et Sel by accident but you keep coming back because of the wonderful food and charming staff. It's not a tourist joint and also nothing for Berlin scenesters. It's a French bistro for the people who live in between.

Noisy small room. Slow service (it took 1h to have our dishes) even though they’re very nice. Quality-price not the best. We took the canard which was a bit chewy and the salmon. Good but not excellent. The cheesecake was very good and the cocktails too. We paid 130€ for salmon, duck, 2 glasses of wine, 2 cocktails, 1 cheesecake, 1 bottle of water. I don’t think I will go back unfortunately.

Las vibraciones son acogedoras y te sientas bastante cerca de la gente a tu lado - que no era ningún problema para nosotros. Sin embargo, no iría aquí con un grupo más grande. El vino era precioso y nuestra comida principal (bistec tártaro y filete) eran MUY buenos. ¡Las papas fritas eran mis favoritas! En general, tuvimos un tiempo encantador y disfrutamos de nuestra cena mucho. ¡Debo ir a mis ojos!

This restaurant can‘t be worse. We‘ve waited for 30min and they forgot both of our startes. The dish that i ordered came cold and the fries was far away from fresh. This is unacceptable, since the restaurant on during the week was not even ful.

A lovely little French restaurant. Very authentic. French is spoken. We thought it was great to be able to use our school knowledge again. Food very tasty. The wine recommendation was also very good. But you have to reserve in advance.

Great food. Modern, delicious, rich. Small guest room with a warm atmosphere. A recommendation in the noisy Torstrasse, where there are also many “junk offers”.

Food wise , nothing incredible, too expensive for what it is. Boeuf bourgignon was very fade, couldn’t taste the red wine at all in its sauce, and the magret was super chewy to the point where we had to put our glasses on another table as ours was wobbly and trying to cut the duck was shaking the table dangerously. The service was not great at all, inefficient, slow and messy, confusion with our booking despite calling the restaurant 15 minutes earlier to let them know that we would be a few minutes late, slow in setting up the table we decided to sit at (being a waitress myself I know it can be annoying when customers decide to sit at a an uncleared table but they were polishing glasses hence could have set the table within a few minutes), we had to wait a good 15-20 minutes to get our cutlery… And the cherry on top, two customers next to us were drunk and one of them threw a ball of paper at my partner, then the other one proceeded to break a glass. As soon as that happened, we cancelled the desserts and left. It must have been one of my worst experiences in a supposedly “posh” restaurant.

We had Christmas dinner there, the place is not very big but it is cozy. The food was very delicious and the service was also great, there were many of us and there were never any mistakes in the dishes we had ordered. Maybe I would include something vegan in the dessert.

Overall it was a nice evening. The food was good. The service raises questions and why people are not quite as well prepared for the obvious things in the service, e.g. B,. a functioning flambé device or the simultaneous delivery of drinks. Still 4 stars.

The waiters were nice, and the vibe in the restaurant was cozy, but the kitchen was really unprofessional. We ordered a beef tenderloin cooked medium, but what we received was well done. After informing the waiter, and after some discussion, he offered a new beef tenderloin. However, what happened next was something I’ve never experienced before: the cook brought us a completely raw piece of meat. We then saw her looking at our table and laughing with the other cooks. After sending it back again, it was still not cooked medium. We decided to pay and leave. I think the cook's behavior was highly unprofessional, and we had the feeling they were making fun of us. You can't charge that amount of money for a steak if the cook can't even cook it to medium."

Los camareros eran agradables, y el ambiente en el restaurante era acogedor, pero la cocina era muy poco profesional. Pedimos un solomillo de ternera medio cocido, pero lo que recibimos estuvo bien hecho. Después de informar al camarero, y después de una discusión, ofreció un nuevo solomillo de ternera. Sin embargo, lo que pasó después fue algo que nunca antes había experimentado: el cocinero nos trajo un trozo de carne completamente crudo. Luego la vimos mirando nuestra mesa y riéndose con los otros cocineros. Después de enviarlo de nuevo, todavía no estaba cocido medio. Decidimos pagar e irnos. Creo que el comportamiento del cocinero era muy poco profesional, y teníamos la sensación de que se burlaban de nosotros. No se puede cobrar esa cantidad de dinero por un filete si el cocinero ni siquiera puede cocinarlo a mediana".

It's been a while since I was there with a friend. But the fact that the service in *ing Berlin is not familiar with the term “vegan” is tough. (No cheese but still créme fraîche, huh?) Being treated condescendingly and having to pay for dishes that you can't eat. In short, not recommended. Edit: Previous post was removed by the owner.
