A beautifully situated restaurant. The service is very friendly and always up for a nice chat. The food is very good and fairly priced. We felt very comfortable and will gladly come back. 🤗😊👍

It's wonderful that the Sternhaus forest inn is continuing; it's been a part of the Lower Harz region for decades. Wonderful home-style cooking, something you don't find very often these days… And let's not forget the legendary soft-serve ice cream, a must-try. I would love to see the Christmas lights on the gable end (half-timbered) shining brightly again during the Christmas season 🙏.

A very pretty day-trip restaurant in the middle of the forest. A bright spot in this region, where restaurants are no longer available in the villages. Typical Harz food, good value for money.

The service was good. The waitress and staff were very friendly. If there are any problems, you can always address them. The room was very tidy and clean. The price for 6 nights was completely reasonable. The hotel's location is fantastic. Everything is very easy to reach from there. The breakfast was plentiful and plentiful. The dinner was very tasty. They also serve very good soft ice cream. The internet is not good at this location. But that's not why you go to the Harz Mountains. Definitely recommended! As of: October 4, 2025

Super quiet location. A dreamy area. The small bungalows are charming and somewhat nostalgic. Good evening meals and delicious breakfasts. Everything you need is there. We'll definitely be back.

Exceptionally good and recommended.

After finding two hairs in our food and the nice lady telling my children to please be quiet after 8:30 p.m., we dropped a few euros. It's not cheap, and it's not child-friendly either. I don't know how these people behaved when I was a kid, but I didn't think they were loud. We were told we were the biggest problem customers they'd had in a long time. I don't know why. But we could pay €150 for food and drinks for four people. And then we were told this.

We were there for dinner and had good home-cooked food: cabbage rolls with potatoes and salad, as well as brawn with fried potatoes, remoulade, and salad. It was very good. Access via Gernrode is possible due to the road closure. Highly recommended.

Located on the edge of the forest in the Harz Mountains. Absolutely peaceful, ideal for hiking. All attractions are within easy reach. Bus and narrow-gauge railway are easily accessible.

I don't know who's to blame, but I had an adventurous hike from the campsite through unkempt forest with countless fallen trees as obstacles, inadequate directions, and sometimes through waist-high undergrowth, only to find myself standing in front of a locked door, even though the website said it was open. I suspect, however, that this was negligence on the part of the federal government, which is presumably responsible for maintaining the forest and the directions. The Sternhaus still needs to maintain the online information.

We stayed there for five days in June. It was a wonderful, quiet location. The bungalow was top-notch. Special requests were promptly fulfilled. 👍Thanks again. It's a good location for exploring the surrounding area. The breakfast was good and plentiful. We immediately recommended it to others.

Every year at Pentecost, it's become a lovely tradition to stop here once or twice. There's always a warm welcome, delicious food, drinks, funny sayings, and at least one group photo. See you next year! We're looking forward to it!

We go there specifically in the summer for the ice cream. And it's always so delicious, even if you never know in advance what flavor they'll be serving.

Thanks for the stay! Food and service impeccable. I was even allowed to recharge my battery and cell phone upon request (ebike tour Stiege-Ballenstedt and back). We'll be back next time we stop in the area!

Before Easter I stayed there for 2 nights and I have to say I had a heavenly peace at night. There is only forest all around and you can only hear the birds 👍 The breakfast buffet is very good and the rooms are standard. If you want to enjoy the peace and quiet, you're in good hands here and the prices are top ☆☆☆☆☆+

This was the second time we've eaten here. Just great, like with nuts 👍👍👍. Very friendly and accommodating. Gladly again at any time. Highly recommended. Next time we will vacation here. Beautiful forest area and quiet.

We were registered there for breakfast (10 a.m.) with a group of 34 people. The breakfast was very good. From different types of bread, grain rolls, crispbread, smoked fish platter, everything was available and from Mettigel to yoghurt. There were also very nice sausage platters, cheese platters and scrambled eggs. The service was very quick and friendly. Gladly again.!

A very friendly run family hotel. Dietary wishes were asked in advance and lovingly implemented (everything was on the breakfast table in the morning). Buffet was sufficient and lovingly prepared. We ate in the restaurant once in the evening, it was very tasty and the portions were large. The room was clean, the size was sufficient, hand and shower towels were available. Hairdryer was handed over immediately upon arrival.

The service was very friendly and the salad was delicious, but unfortunately the main course didn't taste good at all and was cold. A pity.

We were at the Sternhaus on April 20, 2024. The Sternhaus team welcomed us on site and treated us to culinary delights. All guests were pleasantly surprised by the food, the quality, the taste and the presentation of the dishes. The entire ambience including the fireplace, everything was perfect. The bungalows and the rooms are inviting and cozy. The sanitary facilities are clean, The price performance ratio is very good. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the friendly and courteous Sternhaus team. Absolutely recommended!

We had a family celebration with an overnight stay. Cake was very good and all requests were catered for. Gluten free, spelled flour etc. The tables were beautifully decorated and service was friendly. Dinner also had a varied selection + asparagus season. Despite the size of our group, the food arrived at the same time and nothing was forgotten. For breakfast there was regional sausage as well as yoghurt and fruit salad. So all wishes are catered for there too.

Unfortunately the restaurant is still closed, but it will reopen at Easter. From here you can hike to the Bremer Teich or to the bear monument.... I am a hiker who loves nature.....😃🌲

I chatted in advance and booked for 7 people. Very nice conversations in advance. We were greeted very friendly and served very well. The waiter asked if we liked it and he immediately smiled because all 7 plates were empty. And those were big portions. It was really really tasty.

Very friendly owner and employee... dog friendly... but one star deducted for the lack of opaque curtains, which are actually necessary in the bedrooms of the holiday homes... when the neighboring house goes to the toilet it is bright in the bedroom because the blinds are not wide enough. As well as the description “quiet location”… the country road is busy and the windows are old. So there is already a noise nuisance (especially in the morning hours). Otherwise we had a good stay, the breakfast was rich and something for everyone… dinner in the restaurant was good German home cooking and recommended… they also took our dog into consideration, which was really very nice. What we overlooked is that the house doesn't have a kitchen... very unusual since it was booked as a holiday home. Feasible if we were staying longer with a child, but it certainly wouldn't have been our first choice. This should perhaps be mentioned somewhere. Otherwise it was clean and well/newly furnished.

Wir waren zum Mittagessen im Sternhaus, das Essen war sehr gut und hat geschmeckt, mein Essen hatte ich bereits im Sommer bei unserem ersten Besuch ausgesucht und ohne Karte bestellt. Leider waren die Kohlruladen aus. Das holen wir bestimmt nach. Wie die Zimmer sind kann ich nicht beurteilen. Eigentlich 10 Sterne für Freundlichkeit und Service. Weiter so

Guter Ausgangspunkt zum Wandern Freundliche Gastgeberin, die für Fragen immer ein offenes Ohr hat. Das Frühstück war auch lecker.

Das Essen war sehr lecker und der Preis war angemessen.

Sind nach einer Wanderung hier eingekehrt , Wetter war toll, so dass wir draußen sitzen konnten, rustikales Ambiente, Essen hat ziemlich lange gedauert ( ca 35 min) ... aber wir hatten ja Zeit 😊 Lokal war gut besucht, auch im Innenraum waren viele Tische besetzt, beim Preis- Leistungs- Verhältnis ist definitiv noch Luft nach oben ! Mein " plattgeklopftes " Schnitzel mit Dreifachpanade inkl Rahmchampis ( ohne Rahm 🙄) und Bratkartoffeln ( die ganz okay waren ) kostete knapp 17 € ! Das Rostbrätl meines Mannes war gut. Als Nachtisch noch nen leckeres Soft Eis ,,, das geht dort auf jeden Fall immer !

Wir waren Gestern dort zum Mittagessen. Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt und der Service war auch sehr gut. Wir können das Sternhaus nur empfehlen. Über die Zimmer kann ich mir kein Urteil erlauben, da wir nur zum essen dort waren.

Ansich schön das es wieder geöffnet ist,aber an einem Samstag im Sommer um 16.30 kein Softeis mehr zu haben war nicht akzeptabel,,,Beim Kuckuck gabs noch was ,,sehr lecker dort!!!!

Wir hatten im Sternhaus eine größere Familienfeier mit ca 30 Personen. Das Essen war mehr als ausreichend und sehr viele Auswahlmöglichkeiten. Die Qualität war sehr gut und auch lecker. Nach dem Mittag gab es noch Eis (mega lecker) und zum Kaffee Kuchen mit verschiedenen Kaffeespezialitäten. Durch die tolle Lage und dem kleinen Spielplatz waren auch unsere Kinder bei guter Laune. Die Zeit verging wie im Flug und wir kommen wieder! Danke 🙏

Wartezeit ist ok, nur drauf achten, dass man zu seinem Essen auch Besteck bekommt. Essen an sich ist ok aber nichts besonderes. Softeis war aber lecker!

Sehr gute Gaststätte mit flotter und äußerst höflicher Bedienung. Essen sehr lecker und schmackhaft. Hier wird noch mit Liebe gekocht. Portionen sehr groß. Schöne Atmosphäre Innen und Außen im Biergarten. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Zimmer kann ich nicht beurteilen, da ich ein regelmäßiger Gast zum Eis essen. Viele Wanderwege u auch die Straße v Gernrode nach Mägdesprung treffen auf das Sternhaus. Ein guter Stopp für Zwischendurch. Endlich wieder geöffnet. Schön das sich jemand gefunden hat, die Tradition zu erhalten. Viel Erfolg.

Nettes Restaurant mit sehr netten Betreibern! Gutes Essen und lecker Eis zu vertretbaren Preisen. Gut als Zwischenstation während unserer fahrradtour. Es gab auch Wasser für die Hunde ohne darum zu bitten.

Wie waren zum Mittagessen eingekehrt. Sehr nette, freundliche Bedienung, kurze Wartezeit. Das Essen war ansprechend und lecker. Hinterher noch ein Softeis mit Erdbeer/ Joghurt, natürlich auch sehr lecker.Wir kommen gerne wieder. Alles gute weiterhin und viel freundlich Gäste.

Ein kurzer Stop zum Mittag hat mich sehr erfüllt. Der Kellner war blickig, schnell und freundlich. Das Essen war natürlich auch schmackhaft, weiter so!! Und alles Glück für das neue Team dort vor Ort.

Wir waren seit langem dort essen. Bedienung sehr freundlich. Das Essen war leider nicht so berauschend. Sehr fettige Bratkartoffeln und das Schnitzel war zäh. Leider ist einiges durcheinander gekommen in der Küche.

Liegt zwar an der Hauptstraße, aber man kann in alle Himmelsrichtungen zum Wandern gehen! Es herrscht ein freundlicher Umgang durch das Personal!

Schönes geräumiges Bungalow bezogen. Es hat an nichts gefehlt und es war sehr sauber. Weitere Zimmer gibt es im Hauptgebäude wo man auch sehr gut essen kann. Schöner Außenbereich. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls gut.

Endlich wieder Gastronomie... warten wir noch ein bisschen mit der Beweru g und wünschen viel Erfolg.
