Steig-Alm Hotel & Restaurant in Bad Marienberg (Westerwald)

The hotel is right next to the wildlife park and is super tidy. The breakfast is very varied and, if desired, an egg can be served, which is freshly prepared.

The food is super tasty and I'll be back again

We were there as “external” people for breakfast! (You have to reserve a table in advance) The buffet cost €18 per person! Since we were there on a Tuesday, it was very quiet in the breakfast room, more recommended than on the weekend! Everything was plentiful and was always replenished; attentive, friendly service! Very nice atmosphere, quiet, pleasant music in the background! Addendum from 9/18/24 Today we had breakfast there again with the Schlemmerblock! Unfortunately I didn't ask for the current price when making the reservation (unfortunately you can't find it anywhere on the internet 😔) When choosing the buffet, I noticed that some things that were still available last year (e.g. salmon, Camembert, tomatoes with mozzarella, etc.) were no longer visible! 🙃 Some of the rolls were baked rolls, no grain rolls! Apart from fried or scrambled eggs there was nothing warm! Then it was time to pay €24.50 (€6.50 surcharge in one year 🙈) for breakfast - the price-performance ratio also fits Gourmet block no more! We'd rather go somewhere else for breakfast where we can get more for less money! Very unfortunate!!!

Das Hotel kann ich nicht beurteilen; wir haben lediglich im Restaurant gesessen und zwar draußen. Es war ein lauer Sommerabend, dafür ist die Location recht nett. Der Service war mau, die Wartezeit auf Speisen und Getränke beachtlich. Selbst der Liebste, der sehr viel geduldiger und nachsichtiger ist als ich, wurde unruhig. Sein Burger war ok, mein überbackenes Brot auch, allerdings hatte ich bei zwei, drei Bissen einen seltsamen Geschmack im Mund. Und dann drei Tage Übelkeit und Magenbeschwerden.

Great location, great breakfast! Food generally great! Hotel too expensive for what is offered. Loud slamming of doors all day/night when staying overnight on the weekend and black mold in the bathroom! There was no response to the notice at reception. We are disappointed.

Very nice small hotel with an adjoining restaurant designed as an alpine hut. There is also a great beer garden with friendly staff everywhere and very good home-style food at normal prices.

We had booked one night in the hotel and asked in advance whether there was gluten-free food as I have celiac disease. Unfortunately, that's not something to be trifled with. When we arrived, the chef came and greeted me. He was very attentive, he had everything with me I was thrilled. When the celebration started, he came to me again and discussed the food with me. I have rarely experienced that, they really tried to make sure I had a very nice stay. There was a bit of a problem at breakfast. There were gluten-free rolls very good, but you didn't know exactly whether the types of sausage were gluten-free. I preferred to stick to cucumbers and tomatoes. You could have asked a little better in advance. Nevertheless, it was very nice. It was my birthday that day Unfortunately the hotel didn't notice it. It's a shame that I know it differently from other hotels.

Yesterday I went to the Steig Alm with my wife for the first time. We are from the Westerwald and are always interested in new locations. The hotel/restaurant is beautifully decorated in the style of a restaurant in the mountains. We were there quite early, 5:30 p.m. There was still little going on. The staff was friendly and quick. We ordered a mushroom cream schnitzel with a side salad for €22 and Züricher Geschnetzeltes for €21.80. There was hardly any cream in both dishes. There were also very few mushrooms in the sauce. It tasted like a ready-made sauce. The rest was fine. The salad was very good and fresh, including the spoonful of potato salad from the bucket, which you could have given yourself. For dessert I was looking forward to a Kaiserschmarren for €10, which, according to the waiter, is freshly prepared in-house. What came was a very large portion that was far too dry and no longer fluffy. It tasted like the day before. It's a good thing I didn't order applesauce and vanilla sauce, which would have cost another €3 each. A portion half the size with the side dishes for €7 would be great if freshly made. If you are not able to do that, just visit a ski hut in Austria and see how they do it in large quantities. After dessert we were served and paid. When asked if the dessert wasn't tasty, as half of the portion was returned, I answered "yes", I would have expected something. Discount, booze on the house, or something similar. But there wasn't. The whole thing comes to mind, starting with the menu. which would also fit into a fast food restaurant, looks like a tourist restaurant that doesn't care whether the guests come back. By the way, I was a chef and restaurateur myself so I could judge the performance neutrally. If I'm full after a visit to a restaurant and can say, "I couldn't have cooked it better," I'm happy and would be happy to come back. For the There probably won't be any food at the Steigalm. A pity.

Ohne Zweifel eines der besten Hotels im Westerwald! Geräumige Zimmer mit Balkon, bequeme Boxspringbetten, barrierefreies Bad, kleine Sauna, ein hervorragendes Frühstück und ein super freundliches Personal. Das setzt sich im Restaurant fort mit einer soliden Küchenleistung und sehr freundlichem Personal. Ich bin mittlerweile ein halbes Dutzend mal hier zu Gast und empfehle es gerne weiter.

We were here for dinner and were assigned a nice table. We were served friendly and ate very well. The food came on warm plates and was very hot, beautifully presented, was fresh and tasty. The quantity was good and the price was right. We had a lovely time, we'll be back. We have been here for dinner several times now. Last time we just managed to get a free table, next time we will make a reservation. Was great as always.

We were welcomed very friendly. Very good service and customer requests were addressed immediately. The rooms are super nice, the bathroom is a dream. The breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired. We would like to submit an application for catering. The restaurant is very comfortably furnished. We often went there to eat. We were a bit disappointed last time. The conditions were friendly. We ordered the grill plate XL for the proud price of €29.50. The portion of meat was smaller than usual and the quality of the meat was like from a discount store. The pork steak was difficult to chew...the chicken breast tasted rubbery. The herb butter with potatoes was also missing. It's a real shame because we always enjoyed visiting the restaurant and were used to better things.

This Alm is located in the middle of various attractions. Like a zoo, a large children's playground, Climbing forest. It offers plenty of space and the food and service are good. Even large groups receive their food quickly Prices ok Accessible to disabled people. Lots of parking spaces.

I was there as part of a company seminar and was very impressed with both the rooms and the service. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The rooms are a pleasant size, very clean and I liked the rustic, woody atmosphere. The adjacent restaurant has excellent cuisine. The wildlife park with a bird of prey show is right outside the door. In general, beautiful hiking trails and excursion destinations invite you to take a relaxing walk. If you would like something even more active, you will like the climbing forest within walking distance. The hotel also has a small outdoor sauna, a fitness room and a relaxation room made of pine wood with comfortable beds. Depending on the floor, the rooms have a spacious balcony or a small terrace. highly recommended in every respect.

This is our second time here at the hotel and we are thrilled again. The rooms are spacious, the whole hotel is clean and beautifully designed with loving details. The environment was perfect for us (2 families with children): wildlife park in front of the door, large playground and (climbing) forest behind the hotel - we went out after breakfast today and didn't go back in until dinner. That brings us to the last point: the excellent service! The breakfast is not only delicious but the service is perfect, friendly and courteous. This evening we were even allowed to use the breakfast room for dinner with two overtired toddlers who were no longer fit for a restaurant, where the table was prepared for us and candles were even lit. We have never found everyone who works here to be anything other than friendly and accommodating. Our absolute pearl is Jacky. Before going to bed, our son (3) said with tears in his eyes "I'm sad because Jacky won't be there tomorrow. I love Jacky so much." (She is on a well-deserved vacation!!!). This morning the kids were allowed to feed the alpacas, "help" with the coffee machine and, despite the hum of the shop, she took the time to paint with them. Simply great, a dream for parents and children - and we definitely won't be here for the last time! Thanks to the whole fantastic team and now: see you next time!

We spent one night there, a very nice, quiet hotel in nature. Our room was beautiful and cozy. The whole hotel has a lovely alpine atmosphere. Above all, tip top clean. Breakfast was also rich, not too overwhelming. The service ladies were very nice and accommodating. The small sauna in the garden was sufficient for us, the relaxation room was really comfortable and relaxing. Don't forget the adjacent zoo, where you can have a nice walk. This is also very beautiful and well maintained. So we were very satisfied and would definitely like to come back again.

We celebrated a big birthday in the Steig-Alm with lunch and coffee with all kinds of waffles. Great and very friendly conditions, always on the ball, good food. Afterwards an overnight stay in the hotel, very nice modern rooms, you couldn't celebrate better. Always friendly staff throughout the house where you feel like you are in very good hands.

First of all - the review refers to the “Steig-Alm Restaurant / Café”. Unfortunately, the hotel and restaurant are combined on Google. 👎 Now to the restaurant/café. Nice location and pleasant atmosphere. Friendly service. Waiters often have their hands full (especially when the weather is nice 🔆). Sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for a free table. But with a little patience something always happens. If necessary, reserve in advance. You can also sit inside, if the weather is nice 🔆 but maybe take a look on the terrace behind the restaurant/café. You can sit there in the sun. We definitely recommend the classic - waffles 🧇 with various toppings. 👍 Recommended as a stopover after a visit to the zoo. 🙂👍

We went to the restaurant for dinner today. There was a Vespa card from 2 p.m. We all decided on the schnitzel with mushroom sauce. We enjoyed it. Staff was friendly. There was a bit of salt on the fries but they were still edible.

We had dinner in the restaurant last Friday. Since the weather was great, we took the opportunity and sat outside in the beer garden. The service was friendly and it was very quick. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and we have eaten there several times. It was always very tasty too. Last Friday we were a little disappointed for the first time. My husband, as well as our son, chose the beef steak. When the food came we were confused and thought, is there anything else coming? But no, that's it. Steak with fries, nothing more. It was very carelessly presented on the plate. The steak wasn't very big, but there was a huge mountain of fries. The taste was okay, but only lukewarm. No decoration, no leaf of lettuce or a slice of tomato, cucumber..., no herb butter or anything! Not a masterpiece for the price. We were used to better things in the restaurant. I can't do a room review for the hotel because we didn't stay there. The location of the hotel is very nice, as is the great view. It is outside on the edge of the forest. The climbing forest and the wildlife park are right next to it. A great destination for families. When the weather is good, the Westerwald is beautiful 😉 Unfortunately the forests are disappearing... We can only hope that they are not replaced by even more wind turbines.

The food is very tasty but also very expensive. The view is great. Unfortunately you always have to wait a long time for drinks/food. It's a nice atmosphere. Clean and groomed.

There were 13 of us eating in the beer garden. Unfortunately, overall we weren't as satisfied as we had hoped - a few things went wrong. The side salads we ordered were forgotten and would not have arrived until we had already finished eating. We then canceled it. A vegetable side dish was also forgotten and only served when most of the rest of the meal had already been eaten. The cordon bleu wasn't completely done. But the rest of the dishes were very tasty. All in all, in our opinion the price-performance ratio is not right. Something can always go wrong or be missed - but in such a case we would like at least a small gesture to make amends, for example a coffee on the house. And as a guest you would go home with a better and more satisfied feeling. After all, neither the salads nor the vegetable side dishes were charged...

An absolute disgrace at the prices! We waited over 70 minutes for the food and were constantly forgotten about the drinks. After several waves we were noticed. Unfortunately everything was eaten cold and schnitzel from the deep fryer. We only have one conclusion: NEVER AGAIN!

Ordered grill plate XL for €29.90. Pork neck steak was "fried to death", I doubt it has ever seen a grill. French fries were not fresh. And for that price, not even a piece of herb butter. That was more than disappointing. P.S. : What does XL stand for?

Great hotel, starting point for beautiful hiking and cycling tours, e-bike rental and sauna in the house, right next to Steigalm restaurant with excellent cuisine and service.

There are menus for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. The fact that there is a reduced menu on Sundays is nowhere to be read. So 3 out of 4 people were disappointed that her favorite dish wasn't on the menu. Which then The dishes we were looking for were delicious and plentiful. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We would be happy to come back on a weekday.

After a wonderful hike along the Dream Trail orchard meadow path, we stopped at the Steig-Alm on the way back to Siegerland. As always, super friendly and attentive staff. The food: steak and cheese spaetzle were great. 😋 We'd love to come back 🙋🙋‍♂️

Die Schnitzel waren zäh wie sau. Dies haben wir der Bewirtung gesagt daraufhin kam ein ok. Die Suppe als Vorspeise wurde vergessen. Die Hauptspeisen kamen teils falsch. Auf Nachfrage hin wurde uns unfreundlich gesagt sie haben dies so bestellt ;) Getränke waren leer. Keiner kam mehr um nachzubestellen. Die Kinder wollten aus der Balkontür raus zum Spielplatz, daraufhin verdrehte die Kellnerin ihre Augen. Unmöglich Einfach traurig.

Wir waren mit 12 Personen essen. Zwiebelrostbraten war unmöglich. Wir hatten mit 3 Personen das Gericht. Das dickere Steak war noch blutig. Dafür wurdenmal Thermometer erfunden.Es waren keine frisch gerösteten Zwiebeln, sondern trocken gekaufte. Sie waren ungenießbar, nicht zu schneiden und gingen komplett zurück. Fürden Preis erwarte ich was anderes. Kleidung konnte in die Reinigung, weil man ja versucht die Zwiebeln zu schneiden Schnitzel zäh, Cordon bleu und Röstipfanne genauso. Uns wird man dort nicht mehr begrüßen können. Schade eigentlich Service gut, Ambiente ok. Geräuschkulisse durch Musik zu laut

Meine Frau und ich wqren anlässlich unseres 39. Hochzeitstages am 1.3.2024 um 18.00 Uhr im Restaurant. Meine Frau hat ein Züricher Geschnetzeltes mit Spätzle und ich ein Westerwälder Krüstchen bestellt. Der Teller meiner Frau war halb mit Fleisch und Soße und halb mit Spätzle belegt. Mein Krüstchen kam alleine und die extra bestellten Bratkartoffeln in einer separaten Schale. Insgesamt war das Essen ungeniessbar. Unter dem Schnitzel lag eine Scheibe Bauernbrot die mit Fett durchtränkt war. Das Schnitzel war ebenfalls mit Fett überschäumt und die Spiegeleier darüber sehr braun gebraten. Das geschnetzelte meiner Frau waren grosse Filetscheiben einfach runter geschnitten und durch gebraten. Wir haben jeweils noch kein Drittel verzehrt da es ungeniessbar war. Auf Nachfrage der Bedienung habe ich dann alles genau so erzählt wie hier auch, erntete aber nur ein Schulterzucken. Und nach 5 Minuten kam dann ein weiterer Kellner und hat mir die Rechnung gebracht. Zum normalen Preis versteht sich. Nach 40 Minuten war unser Besuch in der Steigalm vorbei. Und wir werden auch nie wieder dort einkehren

One of the most beautiful hotels I have ever visited. The rooms were modern and had a rustic look. In keeping with the motto Alm. The breakfast was rich and very tasty. The staff was polite and attentive. If you wish, the reception will book you a table for dinner in the restaurant, which is also highly recommended.

We were there on the weekend and stayed in the suite. The view from the room was fantastic and the furnishings were first class. Everything is new, high quality and clean. There are sufficient, free parking spaces, including charging stations. The service was very courteous and friendly. Everything was available in the room. TV, hairdryer, kettle with tea, coffee, etc. The free minibar was also filled with all kinds of things. The dining room is located in the house and is very cozy and tastefully furnished. The breakfast offers more than normal. Fruits, muesli, juices, cakes, rolls, croissants and scrambled eggs are freshly prepared upon request. In the building next door is the Elchbar, where you can eat sweet and savory food. You can watch football, sit at the counter or eat comfortably and more quietly upstairs. In summer you can also do this outside. Behind the hotel is the climbing forest, with a large playground, a wildlife park and a falconry. The forest is not far and you can go for long or short walks there. The hotel also had a sauna with a relaxation room, but we didn't use it. We definitely recommend the hotel and would be happy to come back. It was a very great weekend in quiet surroundings.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and ate in the restaurant both evenings. We were thrilled with the hotel and service. Everyone is very friendly, the rooms are nice and modern and there is a small sports room (mainly cardio). There is also an outdoor sauna (towels, bathrobes, etc. are provided free of charge). The breakfast is very good and not too overwhelming. All in all a perfect stay to relax. The restaurant has very tasty German cuisine, we especially liked the beef broth and the cream schnitzel

Directly at the wildlife park, arrived with snow lying on the ground and the following day there was 24 hours of continuous snowfall - what a wonderful experience. Great room, rich breakfast, excellent staff - I was very satisfied.

We were there from January 24th to 26th, 2024 on the occasion of our golden wedding anniversary. The hotel is modern and comfortably furnished. The clean room and the clean bathroom immediately catch the eye. The staff throughout the hotel and also in the restaurant are very friendly and accommodating. It was a matter of course to bring coffee to the room outside the restaurant opening hours. We will definitely come back. It's a shame that you can only give 5 stars here. The wedding room, the breakfast table with champagne and romantic decorations were just as beautifully prepared as the table in the restaurant. The bouquet of roses we ordered was unsurpassable. It was our first time in this hotel and the 3 stars superior are not enough in my opinion 😀. The hotel is very modern and cozy. You immediately feel comfortable. The service whether at reception or at breakfast was great! Everyone was very friendly, nice and always with a smile. The rooms are very nice and everything is very clean. The wellness area is unfortunately a bit small. However, we were lucky because it was hardly used by other guests. The restaurant is also great! Service TOP and the food too. Ein wunderschöner Ort um die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Mitten in der Natur gelegen, entsprach die Steig-Alm mehr als meinen Vorstellungen! Ein tolles Team rund um Hotel und Gastronomie sorgen dafür, dass man sich von Anfang an wohl und willkommen fühlt. Das Essen ist fantastisch und die Zimmer ruhig mit allem an Komfort, den man sich vorstellen kann. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Sehr angenehmes und sehr sauberes Hotel. Kleiner schöner Sauna u. Wellness Bereich. Hochmotiviertes Service Personal vor allem im Frühstücksbereich. Hervorragendes Frühstücksbüffet mit auf Wunsch frisch zubereiteten Eierspeisen, sehr leckere Kaffeespezialitäten. Sehr gutes Restaurant nur wenige Schritte vom Hotel entfernt. Kleiner Abenteuerspielplatz und Tierpark Nahe am Hotel. Gutes Preisleistungsverhältnis, Hotel ingesamt sehr zu empfehlen!!

Sieht sehr schön aus und man hat fast das Gefühl in Tirol zu sein. Der Service im Rest. war sehr freundlich und bemüht; der Salat war Klasse ! Wir kommen bestimmt wieder und dann hoffentlich bei gutem Wetter draußen

Tolles Hotel, schöne Lage, freundliches Personal, gutes Frühstück und das Restaurant ist einfach Klasse.

Funktionales Hotel am Ortsrand, Nahe des Wildparks. Zimmer mit Balkon, Bad mit geräumiger Dusche, bequemes Bett, Holzfussboden. Parkplätze vorhanden. Frühstücksraum gemütlich eingerichet, mit "Moosbild", guter Frühstücksauswahl (auch glutenfreies Brot). Abendessen im Restaurant nebenan war sehr gut (sagten alle), Auswahl gut. Freundlicher, hilfsbereiter Service. Gerne wieder.

This is the second stay in the hotel and the 3rd visit to the restaurant. Because it is not an extensive menu I would expect better quality food. The schnitzels are pre-fabricated not battered by hand. The accompanying sauces are also pre-fab and heated. The mushrooms are cooked in the sauce, no effort to fry them first. The french fries were inconsistent saggy of oil and crispy what re-heating suggests and on average nothing great. Same for the Käsespätzle and it’s sauce. For a quick meal it is okay and not too expensive. For a relaxing evening with good food there are better options in the area.

Als erstes wir waren mit 13 Erwachsenen und 3 Kindern am zweiten Weihnachtstag mit Tischreservierung in der Steig Alm. Der erste Eindruck war gut! Das Personal freundlich und nett. Das Ambiente war auch schön. Das war es mit den zwei Sternen, leider! Eine Stunde vor Anreise, wurde ich angerufen und es wurde mir gesagt das es nicht von der Speicherkarte essen gibt, sondern 4 Gerichte mit fester Vorspeise und Nachspeise. Ok, ok lassen wir uns überraschen, mega die Überraschung war sehr klein ausgefallen! Rindersteak (250 gram) mit gefühlten 15 Pommes. Gänsebrust mit Kartoffelknödel und Rotkohl (hat keiner von uns gegessen) Wildschwein Gulasch mit Spätzle ( Spätzle waren Wässrig und matschig) Schweinefilet mit wenig Pommes oder 6 Kroketten ( das Fleich war nicht durchgebraten!) Auf nachfrage, das sei normal! Die Soßen waren gut, Wildschwein Gulasch auch und das Steak lecker aber zu klein! Nun zu unseren Kindern, es gab Zauberwürstschen, richtig lecker, dachte man!! Die Kinder haben es gegessen! Ich dachte nur ein schlechter Witze!!! Würstchen aus dem Glas in der Mitte durchgeschnitten und dann in die Fritteuse, matschig und nicht lecker!! Also alles in allem ein absoluter Reinfall!! Einige von uns sind danach nach Hause und haben sich dort noch was leckeres selbst gemacht!!! Schade!! Die Bedingungen am Tisch waren leicht überfordert, Getränke falsch gebracht, auf Mayonnaise über 15 Minuten gewartet! Aber der knaller war als eines der Kinder ein volles Glas Weizenbier umgeworfen hatte, und wir schnell versuchten das Schlamassel zu bereinigen, dauerte es sehr lange bis uns Lappen und was zum reinigen betracht wurde!! Nun zur Bezahlung!!! Sorry ich muss lachen!!! Jedes Hauptgericht fast 37 Euro plus Getränke, und die komische Zauberwurst 6,90 Euro (Einkaufspreis maximal mit Pommes 1,50 Euro!!) Zu guter Letzt, mussten wir das kaputte Glas auch noch bezahlen und haben noch nicht einmal ein neues bekommen! Der ganze Abend hat uns über 700 Euro gekostet!! Was ok gewesen wäre, wäre alls gut gewesen und alle wären satt nachhause! Schade, trotzdem waren wir als Familie lustig und hatten unseren Spaß! Wir werden diesen teuren und Abendteuerlichen Abend nie vergessen!! Macht euch ein eigenes Bild!! Mit leckeren markklösschen aus der Packung und wässrigen Spätzle! Der Salat war gut und frisch! Wir empfehlen es nicht weiter!

Wir waren im Rahmen einer Firmenveranstaltung 4 Abende hintereinander mit 11 Personen beim Essen. Alle waren begeistert. Gegessen haben wir u.a. Rumpsteak mit Pfifferlingen, Spaghetti mit Gambas, Schnitzel, Kaiserschmarrn, Grillteller .... Alles war extrem lecker und auch die Getränke Bier vom Fass top temperiert waren super.

Der Empfang war sehr freundlich und der Service mehr als gut. Wir wurden immer wieder gefragt ob alles in Ordnung ist, ob wir noch einen Wunsch hätten. Das Essen war bodenständig gut.

Wir haben dort Schnitzel gegessen die es in verschiedenen Varianten gibt. Das Essen war okay, die Schnitzel ertranken in Soße und die Bratkartoffeln waren wohl auch etwas zu lange in der Pfanne. Die Kartoffelecken hingegen waren richtig gut und kross. Die Preise für die Schnitzelgerichte sind okay. Das Personal war sehr freundlich.
