Fantastic! Best steak I've ever eaten. We've been coming to Ponchos for years whenever there's a trade fair. I've been there at least ten times. The steak is always perfect. I usually order the 86 (filet steak in pepper sauce). The mushrooms are also amazing. I highly recommend the prawns. The sauces are all incredibly good. I also really enjoyed the empanadas. The atmosphere is rustic and charming. However, thanks to the open charcoal grill, your clothes always get a strong smoky aroma, even with the ventilation. Brilliant place, great service, great quality, great preparation! 100 points.

Bad reception. We didn't eat there because our reservation was for 8 p.m. When we arrived, the unfriendly waiter only told us that the restaurant closes at 9:30 p.m. and that they only accept cash. We went elsewhere.

That was, perhaps, the best steak I've ever eaten. It definitely ranks high! Overall, the evening was very entertaining. I was alone and found a spot at the bar. The vegetable skewer was also very good, the fries were okay, and you can skip the cheese plate afterward. The service is excellent and very authentic.

This is my favorite restaurant in Cologne, I go there every year and always my expectations are fulfilled. The food is amazing and the staff is the best! Of course, reservation in advance is highly recommended.

A trip back in time 😗 I first went there with my parents 40 years ago, and then not for a long time. Our visit today was very nice. The ambiance hasn't changed at all; it's still the same style!! The steak was truly excellent! You barely had to press the knife 🔪 to cut...great! The only thing that was a bit annoying was that you had to ask for new drinks, but otherwise, everything came very quickly! We'd go back anytime!

I definitely recommend Steakhouse Ponchos to all steak lovers. The food was excellent — we had sautéed mushrooms with chili as a starter, which were perfectly seasoned, and for the main course we chose a steak with salad and fries — the meat was cooked perfectly, juicy and full of flavour. We visited during the Spoga furniture fair, so the restaurant was quite busy and the service seemed a bit overwhelmed at times, which was a little distracting. Still, it was a very pleasant experience overall. Delicious food at a fair price — we’ll be happy to come back!

BY FAR!!! The best steakhouse we've ever been to! We both had rump steaks and thought the flavor couldn't have been better. The service was very courteous and attentive. You can see the chef working at the charcoal grill, and that also gives you a sense of freshness. Simply a fantastic experience; we'd love to come back!

We found this restaurant by chance. A little skeptical, as we had to go down to the basement. But we were pleasantly surprised. A very quaint restaurant, like a vaulted cellar, with beams and paintings depicting wild horses. We received a very friendly welcome and, thankfully, got a table without a reservation. The meat and side dishes were excellent. We drank sangria, which was also very good and stayed cold because it was served in a pitcher. And we even had an Argentinian nightcap afterward 😁 Highly recommended 🤩🤩🤩

Mi marido visitó la semana pasada mientras trabajaba en Colonia y sabía lo bueno que era. Los filetes eran fantásticos, los dos comimos filete, el marido fue por los 300 g y yo por los 200 g, con patatas de chaqueta, una ensalada verde para compartir y salsa bernaise. Ambos disfrutaron mucho de nuestra comida y el vino también. No tuvimos prisa en absoluto, que era bueno, ya que era una noche lluviosa horrible fuera. Sin duda recomendaría. El personal era tan amable y acogedor , nos reímos de que el clima era similar a Manchester de donde venimos . Vale la pena visitar si alguna vez estás en Colonia.

The fillet steak was terrific! Would happily give it more than 5 stars! An absolute recommendation! Four of us were there for a birthday. The entrance is somewhat hidden, the restaurant is in the basement, which makes it pleasantly cool in summer. We were personally wished a happy birthday, the service was attentive, and the price-performance ratio was absolutely fine! Eating at a steakhouse is always a little more expensive, but the quality of the meat definitely justifies the price! We'll be back!

It is one of the Argentinian restaurants that has a special atmosphere. It is located in a basement and all the steaks are available in high quality. The price is considered high, but for the quality it is considered good.

The food was very good, the service was super nice, but: in the restaurant, other guests were smoking with an e-cigarette at the next table and despite an express request to the service and management, this was not stopped. Very annoying and unacceptable in an already suboptimal cellar air. It's a shame, but we definitely won't be coming back despite the delicious food...

Fui a casa de Poncho con mi hijo. En realidad fuimos un día antes, pero estaba demasiado ocupado para conseguir una mesa, así que es importante tener una reserva con antelación. Food was okay but the toilets had urine on the floor... that's why I wouldn't visit this restaurant again.

We wanted to eat here with 4 people. We were greeted very friendly and served, but we only had the first few drinks. The musty smell in the vault was unbearable. On the menu 10 steak dishes, 10 salad dishes and a few side dishes (neat extra payment). You can shell out a good 40-50 euros per person for a main course with a side dish and a drink from the sparse drinks menu. We preferred to move on, the smell of mold was certainly not healthy.

Such a shame the service and management were so lousy in this restaurant, we had to wait for two hours for our food to arrive without any warning beforehand about the delays in their kitchen. They said they would offer us a salad for our patience and they didn't even do that in the end. When we politely expressed our dissatisfaction we were met with an air of indifference by the staff and management. It is clear they don't care about leaving their customers happy, despite charging around €80 pp. We would have loved to go back if they had been a little bit nicer because their food was delicious, but not after this attitude.

We ate here with 12 people on December 14th, 2024. The first impression was fine. The starter was very tasty. After 2 hours of waiting, the main course arrived. 3 tables around us who came later had already finished their starter and main course. I asked nicely how long it would take and after 2.5 hours it finally came. 3 of the main courses were sent back. We ordered medium rare and it was well done. This was replaced pretty neatly. But then we heard the waiter say to the people at the table next to us. Those stupid Dutch people think they can get it for free again. We said something about it to the waiter who didn't apologize and denied it himself while everyone heard it clearly. Of course, payment didn't go smoothly either. Upon arrival it was made clear that we were paying with 5 people. That wasn't a problem at all. Until we had to pay, this had not been agreed and it is not possible. In the end one of us paid for it. We had dinner there in the evening while visiting the Christmas market. Operation and service were quick and friendly. We both had a fillet steak with side dishes. We didn't have to wait long for the food and the quality was 100%. Perfectly cooked and very, very tasty! I can 120% recommend this restaurant, which is a bit hidden and in the basement with a rustic atmosphere!

Went to the restaurant with 10 people. Already at the entrance you could smell the musty cellar. Very uncomfortable and even worse on the toilet. When the fittings on the toilet rust, the climate seems to be very humid. The steaks were okay so far. But the starter, bread and ajoli were subpar. Bread far dry and ajoli like toothpaste. The vegetable skewer consisted mainly of onions, the fries were lukewarm. The mayo costs 1.80 euros and the other prices are also steep. The renovation announced on the homepage is essential. Unfortunately that was nothing.

Small steakhouse that has been selling fantastic products there for decades. This is for steak lovers. This restaurant is run by a family. The father is in service and the son is at the grill. That's something. The steak was cooked medium rare. As it should be. I had a rump steak. A slight edge of fat, as it should be, made the whole thing perfect. Prices are absolutely fine. Of course there is always something cheaper to eat. But what you get there is worth the money.

Unique steak restaurant right in the center of Köln. You enter the restaurant located in the basement via a generous staircase. The restaurant has an authentic German/Argentinian appearance. Reservations in advance are possible and recommended! Food was good, we all chose the fillet steak (84), very tasty and definitely recommended with pepper sauce. Service could perhaps be a bit friendlier and smoother.

I’ve gone to Ponchos every year since I had been taken here and absolutely love it. If you don’t mind having garlicky breath, I recommend Garlic Gambas (Prawns) because it’s to die for. I’ve had the peppercorn and the Gorgonzola cheese filet steak on separate occasions and is made to perfection. Despite the Gorgonzola being a blue cheese and usually known to be quite pungent and strong - it’s not too heavy and is a fantastic sauce to go with the steak. It’s underground so you won’t get a lot of reception and is perfect for when you want to be phone free for a meal. Can’t wait to go again!

A beautiful restaurant with a beer garden in the back yard. Unfortunately, the gentleman who served us was completely overwhelmed and extremely unfriendly with us and the English football fans. The food and beer were great, the beer garden was very cozy and from what I saw inside it was nicely decorated.

Worse service and steak I’ve ever had, Table booked for 8pm asked to come back back 20 minutes later, which we duly did, took another 1hr 20minutes for the steak to arrive, steak cooked raw when asked to be medium, staff rude, not interested, after visiting cologne for 10 years for shows I will never go back to this place. Ponchos delivers meat in the way you like it best. Don’t expect fancy treatment, instead of that you will enjoy your meat. The additional potato’s and salad are fine but not outstanding, the meat was! The restaurant is ‘hidden’ underground but not hard to find. Interior is for a lot of people outdated but it reflects ancient love for their main product…….. meat. Service is okay, I would like to have more time between the courses. Nowerdays it’s hard to say if prices are reasonable but we found it worth it.

Über das Essen mag ich nicht viel sagen. Einfach Klasse. Leider waren die Tische Mega eng gestellt. So das man sich kaum bewegen konnte, ohne seinen Nachbar zu Berühren. Für ein schöneres Ambiente, wäre es super die Kabel, an der Decke zu verstecken.
