Steakhouse Ponchos in Köln

Gambas cien Fuegos es delicioso y también puede recomendar las Albondegas Picantes. Fue mucho más allá de la calidad de los ingredientes y la cocina que esperábamos. Citar posiblemente el mejor filete que hemos comido. Ponchos no es perfecto (las patatas fritas podrían haber sido más calientes). Ciertamente no es el lugar más elegante - un poco áspero alrededor de los bordes, pero nos lo pasamos genial y ¿saben cómo asar un filete?

Había planeado una cena con mi amigo con tres semanas de antelación, atraído por las pocas críticas positivas de los visitantes anteriores. Desafortunadamente, nuestra visita resultó ser una completa decepción. Los problemas comenzaron inmediatamente. A pesar de tener una reserva confirmada, nos vimos obligados a esperar a que se preparara nuestra mesa, lo que es un claro indicio de mala organización. Las cosas solo empeoraron cuando un camarero, que parecía estar intoxicado, empujó al camarero que nos servía, haciendo que el vino tinto se derramara sobre el suéter y los pantalones de mi amigo. Si bien nuestro servidor, que no tuvo la culpa, se disculpó profusamente, el otro camarero desestimó el incidente como un accidente sin ofrecer una disculpa. We ate here with 12 people on December 14th, 2024. The first impression was fine. The starter was very tasty. After 2 hours of waiting, the main course arrived. 3 tables around us who came later had already finished their starter and main course. I asked nicely how long it would take and after 2.5 hours it finally came. 3 of the main courses were sent back. We ordered medium rare and it was well done. This was replaced pretty neatly. But then we heard the waiter say to the people at the table next to us. Those stupid Dutch people think they can get it for free again. We said something about it to the waiter who didn't apologize and denied it himself while everyone heard it clearly. Of course, payment didn't go smoothly either. The food is tasty, tender steak. But as soon as the food is finished, you are rudely sent away by an older man and he indicates that this had been discussed in advance, which was not the case. The other employees found it annoying for us but had no say in the matter.

We had dinner there in the evening while visiting the Christmas market. Operation and service were quick and friendly. We both had a fillet steak with side dishes. We didn't have to wait long for the food and the quality was 100%. Perfectly cooked and very, very tasty! I can 120% recommend this restaurant, which is a bit hidden and in the basement with a rustic atmosphere!

Went to the restaurant with 10 people. Already at the entrance you could smell the musty cellar. Very uncomfortable and even worse on the toilet. Small steakhouse that has been selling fantastic products there for decades. This is for steak lovers. This restaurant is run by a family. The father is in service and the son is at the grill. That's something. The steak was cooked medium rare. As it should be. I had a rump steak. A slight edge of fat, as it should be, made the whole thing perfect. Prices are absolutely fine. Of course there is always something cheaper to eat. But what you get there is worth the money.

Unique steak restaurant right in the center of Köln. You enter the restaurant located in the basement via a generous staircase. The restaurant has an authentic German/Argentinian appearance. Reservations in advance are possible and recommended! Food was good, we all chose the fillet steak (84), very tasty and definitely recommended with pepper sauce. Service could perhaps be a bit friendlier and smoother.

I’ve gone to Ponchos every year since I had been taken here and absolutely love it. If you don’t mind having garlicky breath, I recommend Garlic Gambas (Prawns) because it’s to die for. I’ve had the peppercorn and the Gorgonzola cheese filet steak on separate occasions and is made to perfection. Despite the Gorgonzola being a blue cheese and usually known to be quite pungent and strong - it’s not too heavy and is a fantastic sauce to go with the steak. It’s underground so you won’t get a lot of reception and is perfect for when you want to be phone free for a meal. Can’t wait to go again!

A beautiful restaurant with a beer garden in the back yard. Unfortunately, the gentleman who served us was completely overwhelmed and extremely unfriendly with us and the English football fans. The food and beer were great, the beer garden was very cozy and from what I saw inside it was nicely decorated.

Your going to put it back on the grill with other meats, when we've eaten some it! We refused to pay and said they would call the police. They offered us a free schnapps....WOW! That will compensate a poor meal at €150!! We've spoken to others and they said they had a similar experience, even seen the Chef picking his nose!!! It's a cramped horrible place and the customer service is just awful. I've been twice and previously seen customers argue with the staff. Don't get me started on the meal itself. Go at your own risk!

Worse service and steak I’ve ever had, Table booked for 8pm asked to come back back 20 minutes later, which we duly did, took another 1hr 20minutes for the steak to arrive, steak cooked raw when asked to be medium, staff rude, not interested, after visiting cologne for 10 years for shows I will never go back to this place. The food was very good, both the starter (Gambas cien Fuegos) and the main course (Entrecote). What I didn't like was the fact that you couldn't pay by card (the device failed). But this was only communicated to you after you ordered. I had no problem going to the savings bank, but a drink on the house would have been a must in that case.

Ponchos delivers meat in the way you like it best. Don’t expect fancy treatment, instead of that you will enjoy your meat. The additional potato’s and salad are fine but not outstanding, the meat was! The restaurant is ‘hidden’ underground but not hard to find. Interior is for a lot of people outdated but it reflects ancient love for their main product…….. meat. Service is okay, I would like to have more time between the courses. Nowerdays it’s hard to say if prices are reasonable but we found it worth it.

Über das Essen mag ich nicht viel sagen. Einfach Klasse. Leider waren die Tische Mega eng gestellt. So das man sich kaum bewegen konnte, ohne seinen Nachbar zu Berühren. Für ein schöneres Ambiente, wäre es super die Kabel, an der Decke zu verstecken.

Super Fleisch ,gemütliches Ambiente

Wir waren in der letzten Woche dort und hatten einen Tisch für 4 Personen reserviert. Platz genug war im Ladenlokal und grundsätzlich war am Essen überhaupt nichts auszusetzen. Das Steak war wirklich eine 1+. Leider war nicht alles so hervorragend wie das Steak. Als wir ankamen empfahl uns die Kellnerin einen Tisch, welcher mit zwei Bänken ausgestattet war. Diese Bänke hatten eine Sitzfläche, die eher für Kinder geeignet gewesen wäre, aber wohl kaum für Erwachsene. Geschweige denn für Menschen, die nicht unbedingt Modelmaße haben. Wir wechselten also den Tisch und gingen etwas weiter. Die Tische für 4 Personen waren fast alle frei. Was uns jedoch auffiel war, dass viele Tische eng aneinander standen, sodass auch der Platz beim Aufstehen nicht wirklich ausreichend war. Die Stühle waren ebenfalls sehr unbequem und bei solchen Lokalitäten frage ich mich, ob der Eigentümer dieses Lokals schon einmal selbst an seinen Tischen oder auf seinen Stühlen gesessen hat. Wir setzten uns also an den Tisch und der Kellern kam recht schnell, um die Speisekarte zu bringen. Er nahm auch schnell die Getränke auf, was wir positiv bewerten konnten. Leider gab es sodann echt Probleme beim Entziffern der Speisekarte. Die Überschrift ist in roter Schnörkelschrift gedruckt und darunter war alles ebenfalls in Schnörkelschrift, allerdings in schwarz abgedruckt. Auch hier frage ich mal den Eigentümer, ob er sich vorstellen kann, dass die Menschen, die sein Lokal besuchen, in der Regel Erwachsene, mittleren bis höheren Alters sind? Es wurden also erst einmal die Brillen gezückt und man versuchte krampfhaft zu entziffern, was denn nun angeboten wird. Was ich positiv bewerten kann ist, dass die Speisekarte eine eher kleinere Auswahl bietet. Wer in ein Steakhaus geht, weiß in der Regel schon, was er grob bestellen möchte und dass in diesem Fall kein Schnitzel oder sonstige Kuriositäten angeboten wurden, fanden wir sehr gut. Weiter ging es dann mit der Bestellung. Wir bestellten jeweils ein Steak mit Beilagen. Der Kellner brachte sodann Beguette, welches noch warm war und zwei Dips. Die Dips waren okay und es war soweit nichts zu bemängeln. Jedoch als die Speisen kamen, die wir bestellten, stellten wir schnell fest, dass der Platz für 4 Personen wieder nicht ausreichte. Denn allein ein zusätzlicher Salatteller machte die ganze Sache schon schwierig. Hätten wir jetzt alle noch einen Salat bestellt, hätten wir an einen 8 Personen-Tisch wechseln müssen. Wie bereits erwähnt, war das Steak wirklich sehr gut. Leider war jedoch an der Wand ein Fernseher angebracht, welcher ununterbrochen lief. Wer sich in einem Steakhaus ein wenig Auszeit gönnt, möchte wohl nicht durchs Fernsehen berieselt werden. Dies passierte jedoch, denn unsere zwei Begleiter, welche direkt in Richtung des Fernsehers saßen, empfanden es als sehr störend, dass der Fernseher läuft und man automatisch hinsieht, obwohl man es nicht möchte. Der Kellern schaute dann noch 2x um die Ecke. Beim zweiten Mal rief ich ihm zu und bat um ein weiteres Getränk. Dies brachte er dann auch. Bei der Besetzung der Tische wäre es nicht schwer für ihn gewesen, zwischendurch mal aufmerksamer zu sein. Wir bestellten auch keine Nachspeise, denn das Ambiente wirkte auf uns eher wie zusamengepfercht und leider nicht ganz durchdacht. Das Lokal als solches ist wirklich schön. Eine Art Kellergewölbe mit dicken Mauern und man sieht, es gibt hier oder da wirklich schöne Dekoraktionen und Einflüsse. Luft nach oben gibt es hier auf jeden Fall. Mein Fazit: In und um Köln gibt es eine Menge Konkurrenz, die sicherlich auch besser mit dem Fahrzeug zu erreichen ist. Qualitativ muss sich dieses Lokal in keinster Weise verstecken. Sollte aber berücksichtigen, dass auch andere Lokale gute Qualität anbieten und weitaus gastoptimierter bei den Sitzmöglichkeiten sind. Vom Preisleistungsverhältnis würde ich sagen, dass es gehobene Mittelklasse ist und absolut gerechtfertigt ist, was die Qualität betrifft. Leider würden wir aufgrund der angegebenen Mängel nicht mehr wiederkommen.

They took my card and took one payment for the food and then another 25 euro for tips without telling me which I noticed when I left. Because then they also told us to give them tip in cash. Would definitely not recommend. There are other Argentine restaurants in Cologne.

I like to give a generous tip if the service is good. It was not. We left 5 percent in cash at the table. We paid the bill by card. The restaurant withdrew 10 % a couple of minutes after we left the restaurant.

Food was pretty good but the service was truly horrible. They also withdrew an extra 30 euros from my account after the meal had been paid and I had left a cash tip. Don't come here.

Kurz und knapp es gibt bessere Steakhäuser in Köln .Das Ambiente ist gemütlich aber die Damentoiletten sind echt grenzwertig ,es gibt keinen WC Papierhalter die Papierrollen werden einfach auf den Mülltonnendeckel gelegt . ICH PERSÖNLICH finde sowas total unhygienisch und ekelig .Der Boden auf der Toilette war fleckig und das obwohl das Restaurant noch nicht lange geöffnet war . Ich hatte ein Filetsteak mit Pfeffersosse das war ok , geschmacklich etwas Fad und das 400 gr Filet von meinem Mann war leider teilweise etwas zäh bzw man musste so ein Stückchen kauen wie blöd .Die Bedienung war nett und freundlich. Wir werden demnächst wieder unser Lieblingssteakhaus El Gaucho besuchen auch wenn das etwas teurer ist aber geschmacklich ist es das beste Steak in Köln .

Niet gereserveerd...konden toch zo aan tafel. En dat op een vrijdagavond. Je zou er zo aan voorbij lopen. Het is wel een trap naar beneden. Maar allemaal meer dan de moeite waard. Zeldzaam zo een lekker bereid stuk vlees gehad. De gepofte aardappel is helemaal super. Kortom een echte aanrader.

Spontan im Lokal angerufen und einen Tisch für Arbeitskollegen und mich reserviert. Der Kellner war sehr freundlich und konnte sich alle Getränke und Gerichte merken ohne diese zu notieren, was einen sehr guten Eindruck machte. Die Speisekarte ist klein und überschaubar, dafür wird aber auf Qualität der Produkte gesetzt. Bei Rückfragen hatte der Kellner auch tolle Empfehlungen und war sehr am Wohlergehen der Gäste interessiert. Wir hatten alle Steak gegessen, welche perfekt gegrillt worden sind. Das Fleisch war saftig, guter Qualität und sehr zart. Im ganzen waren wir von dem Lokal sehr positiv überrascht und würden jederzeit wieder dort einkehren.

Das Ponchos hat sich zweifelsohne als eine wahre kulinarische Oase höchsten Rangs in meinen Augen erwiesen. Really authentic argentinian steakhouse situated down in a cellar makes for a unique atmosphere. Rump steak was incredibly tender and chagrined to perfection. Friendly owners and fair prices.

We kregen een tip om bij Poncho's te gaan eten. Het was even zoeken, maar dan heb je wel wat. In een kelder een gezellig ingericht restaurant met een leuke sfeer. De bediening was goed, tijd voor een praatje en aandacht voor de gasten. Wij hadden heerlijk eten heel mals vlees met een sausje en wat friet. Daarbij ook nog een lekker glaasje wijn. Al met al een fijne avond, even weg uit de drukte van buiten. Antonio bedankt.

Sehr schlechter Service. Waiters are unfriendly towards Chinese people. Its super hot inside in summer. Beef Entrecore is overpriced for such small amount of meat. They also asked for 10% tip and told us its German law based. They just took 10 euro of each of us who spent 60 euro on meal/person. We went out and other German eaters told us that we are getting scammed because there is no such law that Germany says you must pay tip for bad service.Its only cutural norm based. They also saw us getting threated really bad and told us those waiters talked behind our back Chinesisch this, Chinesisch that. Wow, how dare you ask 10 euro trinkgeld per person while talking behind our back. Never come here to dine again. We are Chinese who grow in Europe and getting treated like this. Gonna written reviews on multi Chinese social media and travel guide community to warn my people never dine here while traveling Germany. Or something better. Dont come to Germany. Go instead of The Netherlands or other places where people are open minded and respect each other.

I have eaten a lot of good and expensive steaks, but this restaurant was the best one yet! And it wasnt even that expensive! Definitely eat at this steakhouse if you are nearby!

Delicious meal with a great atmosphere, really nice waiter who was extremely pleasant and helpful. The steak was.cooked perfectly and the peppercorn sauce was really special.

We arrived with out a reservation and where given a warm welcome and a table for two. Our waiter was very friendly and served us immediately. We went for the large 400g fillet and I have to say probably the best steaks we have ever eaten. Friendly atmosphere food was amazing everything was delicious

A little slow on the service but they were pretty busy when we were there so will give some grace. Steak was great. Veggie side is just onions, so go with fries.

Es stinkt sehr, lange Wartezeit, wir hat über eine Stunde und 30 Minuten gewartet, das Essen war teilweise verbrannt außerdem war es laut, Kellner konnte nicht rechnen und hätte uns 10 Euro abgezogen es war stickig und diese Holzkohligen Luft ist nicht zum aushalten. Freundlich waren sie auch nicht. Die Tische waren auch fettig und es war ingesamt sehr unhygienisch.Ich kann diesen stickigen Keller nicht weiter empfehlen.

Restaurant im Kellergewölbe, hübsch eingerichtet, aber sehr stickige, feuchte Luft (keine Fenster). Service mäßig (eine junge Kellnerin war sehr freundlich, ein älterer Kellner hingegen hatte offenbar keine Lust auf Gäste), sehr schlechtes Essen. Von 6 Gambas (16,90 Euro als Vorspeise gedacht), waren 3 ohne Körper (nur Kopf), alle in einer Cocktailsoße ertränkt, die keinen Eigengeschmack zuließ. Filetsteak verbrannt (schwarz), ebenso das Rumpsteak und die Folienkartoffeln (komplett schwarze Schale, Kartoffelfarbe dunkelbraun, verbrannter Geschmack). Nachtisch in Zucker getränkt. Alle 5 Gäste waren mehr als unzufrieden. Definitiv keine Empfehlung.

Sehr schlechte Mitarbeiter nicht weiter zu empfehlen

Sehr respektlos da werde ich niemals ein Fuß reinsetzten. Als wir am Eingang saßen, weil wir auf unser Essen gewartet haben, hat ein Mitarbeiter Wasser auf den Boden geschüttet, damit wir uns nicht mehr hinsetzen können und wir wurden nass!! Man kann es normal kommunizieren, aber sowas geh gar nicht! Er sagte, eine schlechte Bewertung interessiere ihn nicht und seinen Laden gäbe es seit 28 Jahren, aber Respekt hat er wohl nie gelernt.
