Absolutely top-notch. We're very fortunate to travel extensively throughout Germany. This was our first time in Cottbus and we found a top-notch restaurant here. It was so good, in fact, that we made another reservation for the next day. The food and drinks were excellent. The service was attentive and friendly. 5/5, if not 6/5.

Everything was very tasty except for the cocktail which could have used a bit more alcohol

We stopped by spontaneously in the evening and easily got a table outside. We ordered "Erich's Favorite," a schnitzel with egg and mushrooms, beetroot soup, and spicy sandwiches, white bread with horseradish, and cucumber tartar. Absolutely delicious! The servers were quick and very friendly. Highly recommended!

Wow, that was a fantastic experience. We chose the Stadtwächter restaurant spontaneously, and the team at the Stadtwächter was more than delighted. We received the full, unobtrusive, yet very attentive attention of the entire service team. The food was delicious (schnitzel with spiced meat, fried potatoes and cucumber salad, artichokes, and chicken nuggets with fries). Thank you, we'd love to come back.

An away game in Cottbus and the search for something decent to eat ahead of time. According to the website, opening hours start at 4 p.m. We arrived 5-10 minutes early, and the place was open and already quite full on the terrace. Reservations are recommended, so we received a very warm welcome, and this continued throughout our entire visit. The service was extremely friendly and prompt. You don't see that very often these days. We were really motivated. Everywhere you looked: the schnitzel was being highlighted. So we had to eat one. Both schnitzels came with creamed mushrooms and a fried egg. One with fries, the other with fried potatoes. The change to a side dish cost €1.90. The schnitzel was €19.90. So far, so good. There was also a note about the additional costs, but it was also on the menu. After about 20 minutes, the hot food arrived. The portion was just right and nicely presented. The schnitzel and side dishes were good, but not as outstanding as we would have expected based on the signs. The terrace was really nice to sit on. I can't judge the interior. From the outside, it's a beautiful historic building. In the end, we agreed on the rating. It's really good, but not outstanding. Therefore, 4/5.

Very tasty schnitzel and a lovely historic ambiance inside! I recommend choosing the surcharge "fried in clarified butter" and "replace fries with fried potatoes." Delicious! Card payments with Visa and Mastercard (e.g., via Google Pay) are only possible for amounts over €30, as stated in the small print on the card. Since the amount was over €30, I didn't test the clause for smaller amounts.

Yes, our Cottbus Stadtwächter. A must for anyone who simply craves truly good German cuisine in a very appealing setting at reasonable prices. Whether it's just for a quick bite or for a birthday party, the Stadtwächter is highly recommended. The staff is incredibly friendly, and on my last visit, I found the prices to be "normal." When it comes to taste, the Stadtwächter's German cuisine is second to none!

Schnitzel "Helmut" – an experience you won't soon forget. I was curious – a schnitzel with a garlic and onion crust, even called Helmut? Sounded like a friend for life. Unfortunately, Helmut was a bit... special. The crust was soft as a Monday morning, the garlic came out with full force, and the onions seemed to have spontaneously panicked. Top-notch service, lovely place – but Helmut and I seem to be going our separate ways.

A bit cramped, but yes, really cozy...just not in every seat. But it's definitely worth eating there once...and I'd happily go more often.

The best part was the cozy outdoor area. There were long waits for drinks, 40 minutes for the food, and cold fries, industrial fried potatoes with a €1.90 surcharge, and to top it all off, mustard sauce that had no connection to cooking.

A historic restaurant in the heart of Cottbus, nestled within the ancient walls, perfect for a family lunch or a drink with friends. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. They make a different schnitzel every Sunday, and it's very affordable. The service is very attentive. I recommend it.

I searched Google for "Asparagus Dinner in Cottbus." Three restaurants were displayed. We decided on the Stadtwächter (City Watchman). It was Thursday, June 12th. The evening was mild, so we wanted to sit outside. The garden seating was lovely! There weren't any large tables, and a hedge (which was also lit at night) shielded us from view. Unfortunately, then came the disappointment! There weren't any asparagus dishes on offer at all! A glance at the menu revealed a limited selection with funny German names. All the dishes chosen were plentiful and very tasty. A commendation to the chef! The homemade lemonades are highly recommended. I chose pear and cucumber, a combination I'd never tried before. Truly delicious! Many thanks to the waitress for the recommendation! Another positive thing to mention is that you can relax and sit until closing time—no pressure to finally pay! And, of course, the free parking in the post office parking lot from 8 p.m.!

I've been to Stadtwächter a few times, and so far everything has always been impeccable, and we were very satisfied. The food was top-notch, as always, as was the service. Unfortunately, we were all a bit disappointed on our last visit. Despite reservations, there was a back-and-forth with the tables. When we were finally seated, we waited about 20 minutes for drinks, and then another almost an hour for the food. Despite the friendly notice on the tables that there might be longer waits due to the small kitchen, I personally think it was a bit too long considering there were only four tables occupied, including us. We'd love to come back, but a friendly notice that we'd have to be patient would have been nice :)

We stumbled upon this lovely, unique restaurant by chance. The staff is extremely hospitable, attentive, helpful, and efficient. The ambiance is very special and cozy. The restaurant has a tiled stove, and candles burn on the tables. The terrace also looked very inviting. The food selection isn't too extensive, but perfectly adequate and, above all, authentically regional. The schnitzel variations are unique. This is a must-visit when visiting Cottbus's old town!

We booked a table for five people seven weeks ago. Inside and outside if the weather is nice. When we arrived, we were assigned a table outside. It was windy, rainy, and uncomfortable. When we pointed out that we wanted to sit inside and only outside if the weather was very good, we were told there was a patio heater and we should have let them know. We explicitly mentioned this by phone in advance. No apology, no understanding from the person the waiter called over. Instead, we were arrogantly reprimanded. I understand customer focus and professionalism differently. The culture of making mistakes here is obviously based on the customer being the culprit. We then found a great little Vietnamese restaurant where the customer truly is king and had a wonderful evening with excellent food. Thanks to Com Pho Viet.

After a long absence, I was back in CB and at the Stadtrechte restaurant. The food was really plentiful and delicious. Thanks also to the service.

We reserved a table for six people almost eight weeks ago. We arrived on time and were told our group should sit outside in the rain and wind. We reiterated our reservation. We were offered a patio heater, saying there was no room inside. Disrespectful, incompetent, and not customer-oriented. We should have mentioned when making our reservation that we didn't want to sit outside in bad weather. No words, and never again.

Food was good. Unfortunately we had to wait an hour and a half for the food. There was a written note that it could occasionally take longer, but 90 minutes is still very "bad". A bit of bread or breadsticks to tide you over can help. Service was very friendly and attentive. Our seat was not in the restaurant, but in the heated outdoor pavilion.

We went to Stadtwächter for dinner as a family of 8 people. There is a rustic restaurant integrated into the city wall. So to speak, an old building with a very special charm. Service was very friendly, attentive and gave the children something to paint. A big compliment and thanks to the great service. The food is very plentiful and tastes great. Our good eaters went home more than satisfied :-) Price/performance is completely appropriate. We can highly recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant is located in the old fort wall and is understandably cramped but uncomfortable. A great, friendly team. The rating is based on the fact that we were able to get into the rooms, but we couldn't get a seat without a reservation. So we couldn't order anything.
