Cozy restaurant with super friendly staff. Unfortunately, even though we asked before making the reservation, there wasn't a single vegan dish. It was made for us, from a vegetarian to a vegan one. For such a top restaurant with a central location, we would have expected more in this regard

Top!!! We've been there for ages.. very forever... But all 4 of us were very impressed by the professional friendliness of the service and the super fast service.. We were lucky, there was an additional offer for kale with METT next to the menu :) or veal schnitzel with fried potatoes. We served 3 x kale and 1 x veal schnitzel and were thrilled by the fresh, good home cooking. It's nice that there is also a place like this (apart from Heinemann) that cooks like mom. At the end we were served special requests regarding coffee, even though the place was full. So it's no wonder that both restaurants are always full. They probably want to meet the tastes of their customers here. We'll be back :)

Quaint, traditional restaurant with reasonably good food (liver was unfortunately too dry) and friendly service. It was like that 40 years ago! Accordingly, it is rare to find such an atmosphere. A good place to be to meet up with good friends again. 😉

Top service, food and drinks very good. Unfortunately, I find 155 euros a bit steep for two not-so-expensive main courses and, admittedly, a lot of large beers. But that's how the prices are in the restaurant. Service really TOP.

Nice experience with new colleagues

Eine Traditionsgaststätte die nicht nur urig daherkommt. Sondern mit einem extrem freundlichen Personal, leckeres Bier und ein sehr, sehr guten Essen serviert. Wir waren zu viert und hatten Schnitzel, Gulasch und den Burger und alles war außergewöhnlich gut. Sehr zu empfehlen.

We were very enthusiastic about the staff, you could tell that they really enjoy their job. We were greeted in a very friendly manner and served throughout the meal. The food was very good and enough to fill you up. We would always come back here.

Been there again after over 10 years because I haven't lived in Gladbach for a long time. Immediately felt comfortable again, nice service and great food. A traditional place with which some Gladbach residents certainly have many fond memories. I think every German in Holland wants something like that, but you can only dream of it there 😅

Very nicely located location at the Alter Markt in Mönchengladbach. The staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. We had Himmel and Ääd and the Rhenish mustard roast. The food was very tasty. We drank a non-alcoholic wheat beer and two large apple spritzers. In total it was just under €60. We liked it very much. The only thing that marred the overall impression was that the potato pancakes with apple sauce were refused as dessert. These are only for the children (normal ticket 4.90 for the tank). The cellar offered me potato pancakes with salmon. I explained that I would like potato pancakes with applesauce for dessert. He replied that this wasn't possible because it was only for children, which I then accepted. It's just a shame that when I got home I saw that on the special offer card on the Internet on Saturdays these potato pancakes with applesauce were advertised for €7. And yes, we were there on Saturday. Nevertheless, I would happily recommend this restaurant. Today we were in St. Vith again. I had the pork knuckle with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut with beer jus, my wife had the goulash with spaetzle. Everything tasted very good. 8/20/24 We were there with 6 people on a Thursday. There was little going on, the service staff was friendly and helpful. Ambiance remains good. We ordered 2x grilled pork knuckle, 2x half chicken with fries, 1x meat loaf with fried potatoes, 1x roast suckling pig. We waited about 30 minutes. Everyone was very happy. So to my verdict. The chicken was very spicy but only the skin, the meat inside (breast) was very tasteless but not dry. Tip: You should marinate it longer so that the meat tastes like something. As always, the knuckle was very good, crispy on the outside, not dry on the inside, everything was nice and warm but not too hot. I had the roast suckling pig myself, the fat was nice and crispy, the meat was unfortunately a bit dry but nice and warm. But good to eat with the sauce. The mashed potatoes were super tasty and had a slight smoke/bacon aroma, the sauerkraut was also very tasty and also had a slight bacon aroma. All in all we'll be back. Price/performance is very good.

Wir waren mit 6 Personen an eine Donnerstag dort. Es war wenig los, die Servicekraft war freundlich und bemüht. Ambiente unverändert gut. Wir hatten bestellt 2x die Grillhaxe vom Schwein, 2x halbes Hähnchen mit Pommes, 1x Leberkäse mit Bratkartoffeln, 1x Spanferkelbraten. Wir warteten ca. 30 min. Vorweg alle waren sehr zufrieden. So zu meinem Urteil. Das Hähnchen war sehr würzig allerdings nur die Haut das Fleisch innen (Brust) war sehr geschmacklos aber nicht trocken. Tipp: Man sollte es länger marinieren damit das Fleisch auch nach etwas schmeckt. Die Haxe wie immer sehr gut außen knusprig innen nicht trocken alles schön warm aber nicht zu heiß. Ich selber hatte den Spanferkelbraten das Fett schön knusprig das Fleisch leider etwas trocken aber schön warm. Mit der Sauce aber gut zu essen. Das Kartoffelpüree super lecker hatte ein leichtes Rauch/Speckaroma, das Sauerkraut auch sehr lecker ebenfalls ein leichten Speckaroma. Alles in allem wir kommen wieder. Preis-/Leistung ist sehr gut.

I had a schnitzel with a mushroom cream sauce and fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were well done with bacon and onions. The schnitzel was well fried. The sauce was delicious

A highlight of the 6 weeks of business stay when the weather was nice. Great food and really great beer for my southern German taste. Great entertainment during the European Championships and super nice people there. In my opinion the best place to go out in the city center.

Update July 3, 2024 A quaint, cozy restaurant with a long, old history. We had an excellent meal! The menu is not big, not to mention quite small. But the few dishes on the menu indicate good home cooking. We chose suckling pig and knuckle, very tasty, a good portion of each, maybe a little more 😋😋 Plus delicious beer in a mug 🍺🍺 The atmosphere is rustic, you feel like you've been transported back to the restaurant's earliest days. The service was always friendly and attentive 🥰👍 a warm greeting ❤️ 🙏 The prices were reasonable, I would even say rather cheap given these portions. All in all a successful evening.👍🥰 Many thanks again to the team ❤️

Super organized! We were there on Sunday, June 23rd, for the European Championship game between Germany and Switzerland. Despite the beer garden being full, the service was super fast, attentive and very friendly! Really great! The food came really quickly and was very tasty. Gladly again and again ♥️

Terrible service, we were changed tables by the restaurant's own staff and suddenly we are approached by a waiter stating that we changed the reservation signs Ridiculous service, absurd rudeness without any need to talk to the customer like that, when it's their mistake Beware of terrible and ridiculous service, avoid this place

All umbrellas were open, no seat cushions, very loveless beer garden, one would have been very happy about some sun spots, and we're not talking about the evening but the afternoon. This is the answer regarding constructive criticism.

We were there with a larger group. And should pre-order if possible. Nevertheless, some of us received our food much later. I had a schnitzel with champion cream and that was good. My wife, on the other hand, had a salad with roast beef. The taste of the salad was okay, but the roast beef was completely wrong. There was nothing fried until pink, but rather every single thin slice was completely cooked through and therefore tough. Unfortunately not acceptable for the price. The toilet is on the 2nd floor. I can't say whether there is a disabled toilet or not, but I haven't seen any notice.

A visit to the beer garden and it stays that way, the service is sometimes hopelessly overwhelmed, you die of thirst and the food is cold because you wait too long for service. The ambience is really nice but the rest is unfortunately bad without words.

The brewery completely blew me away. At lunchtime we managed to get a nice spot outside. The menu is not too busy as great attention is paid to the quality of the dishes. Everything homemade, totally delicious. The location is of course also great on the old market. The service is always nice and courteous. Of course, a few little jokes couldn't be missed :)

I was lucky on Good Friday and managed to get a seat in the city's oldest non-church building and inn. Service friendly. Food came quickly and was tasty and plentiful. Altbier cool and drinkable. Recommendation

An old restaurant in the city center of Mönchengladbach, which according to history offers a brewery and good German cuisine, but you sit in one of the friendly dining rooms that tells about history and serves good German food but with a touch of modernity! It is very comfortable to sit in, suitable for larger groups. The food and drinks are very good! The service is very friendly, patient and helpful, even when it comes to strange music requests. Highly recommended at any time in the heart of Mönchengladbach.

Stayed nearby for 3 nights and went here twice, both times the food was very nice and the staff spoke perfect English to me as my German is very poor. Both dishes they recommended was perfectly cook and delicious. Average price was €20 per main, very good price for the food.

Gestern war nicht der beste Tag im St. Vith. Burger war nicht wie erwartet. Fleisch war wie Gummi und trocken. Pommes sehr wenig. Es war den Preis nicht wert. Die Schnitzel Besteller waren zufrieden, da gab es Bratkartoffel. Pommes auch bei den Curry Wurst Bestellern rar.

Actually everything was very satisfactory, and the service was also very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, it was only when I got home that I noticed on the receipt that all of my small drinks had been charged as large ones 🧐 PS: I didn't take a closer look at the receipt until later at home because the waiter had specifically asked about it when billing and was confirmed by me that they were all small drinks.

We were all very satisfied… If you like hearty food, this is a great place for you. There were also vegetarian alternatives to burgers, schnitzel and black pudding. Nice service and, as always, a cozy, hospitable atmosphere.

Im Rahmen unserer Weihnachtsfeier sind wir mit 10 Personen im St. Vith Essen gegangen. Fazit von allen Beteiligten: Nie wieder!!! Das Essen und der Service war eine Katastrophe. Auf mein Essen Rinderbäckchen mit Kartoffeln hatte ich mich besonders gefreut. Zwei winzig kleine trockene Fleischstückchen, genau eine Salzkartoffel und Kohlrabi. Die Soße hatte nicht annähernd etwas mit einem Schmorfleischprozess zu tun. Sie war wässrig und nichts sagend. Das Essen kam kalt an den Tisch, so wie bei meinen Kollegen auch. Einzig das lauwarme Kohlrabigemüse schmeckte mir. Satt bin ich auch nicht geworden. Auch meinen Kollegen erging es mit ihren Gerichten nicht viel besser. Diese mögen aber selber berichten. Service: Auf die Frage, ob es geschmeckt hat, habe ich geantwortet: "Nein und das Essen war außerdem kalt". Es erfolgte keine Reaktion des Kellners. Er zog sich mehr oder weniger geduckt zurück. Auch bei der Bestellung gab es Probleme. Umbestellungen waren kaum möglich. Eine Kollegin wollte keine Bratkartoffeln, da sie abends Kohlenhydrate meidet. Dafür wollte sie einen größeren Beilagensalat. Die Bratkartoffeln kamen trotzdem. Ein zweiter Kollege wollte ein Schnitzel Wiener Art. Bemerkung der Kellnerin, dass es dies nicht gäbe. Dabei hätte man doch blos die Soße beim Schnitzel weg lassen müssen. Preise: absolut überteuert Ich gebe trotzdem 2 Sterne, da das Lokal sehr schön ist und uns das Essen auf schönem Geschirr serviert wurde. Aber essen werde ich definitiv nie wieder dort.

Wir waren heute mit der Familie in dem kleinen aber sehr netten Braushaus im Herzen der Innenstadt. Für Kinderstühle ist gesorgt. Der Service war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Essen kam sehr zügig. Das Schnitzel mit Speck, Zwiebeln und Schmand war sehr lecker auch wenn etwas wenig Bratkartoffeln dabei waren. Himmel und Ähd war auch fein. Die Reibekuchen, die unsere Kinder hatten, waren leider nicht so gut. Geschmacklich ok aber zu wenig durchgebraten und zu weich.

Pro: Die älteste Gastronomie Mönchengladbachs hat ein sehr schönes Ambiente und die Bedienung ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Contra: Das Schnitzel war auf der Unterseite verbrannt. Jeder Chefkoch würde es mir hinterwerfen, wenn ich ihm so etwas präsentierte. Dabei sind die Preise auch gut angezogen. Der Seifenspender auf der Toilette war leer und das kurz nach Öffnung am Mittag. Wir werden wohl erstmal nicht mehr im St. Vith.

St.Vith is wonderful! We were here 4+ months ago and the staff remembered us and were so welcoming. First place we come when we're in Monchengladbach for schnitzel and altbeer.

Super Location. Echt tolles Ambiente und super Service Personal. Exzellente Rheinische Küche zu fairen Preisen. Wir werden wiederkommen. Weiter so!

Also von außen ist es klein aber fein. Und von innen ein Brauhaus Style auf zwei Etagen . Der Service ist Recht schnell mit Getränken aber meiner Meinung ist das Essen gut aber auch durchschnittlich. Ich persönlich gehe im zweiten Lokal lieber essen ( mir schmeckt es dort besser) Probier es einfach aus

Das "Vith" ist immer wieder einen Besuch wert. Man kann nicht nur gut essen, sondern einfach nur auf ein Bier einkehren.
