Cozy, good food and friendly staff.

My first visit to the new owners. They've certainly stepped into some big shoes after the legendary Kuno & Hasi. In my opinion, they've (almost) succeeded. The place has been spruced up a bit, but not completely reinvented. I like that. Sensible touches like the curtains at the entrance and in the restrooms, quite good dartboards installed in the back room, and a few other things made more stylish. The place has retained its familiar character, but it's also freshened up. The food is excellent. They have everything the local cuisine has to offer: soups, schnitzel, tongue, or ice cream afterward – it's all there. There's always one small drawback, though. Since the food is freshly prepared (they have real mashed potatoes, not some pre-mixed stuff from Pfanni or anything like that), it takes time, and if it's a larger group that all needs to get their food quickly, then it can take a while (sometimes a bit longer). Everyone can decide for themselves what's more important: freshness or speed. For guests who just want to pop in and out – this place isn't for them. No one went hungry thanks to the generous portions and a complimentary appetizer (delicious bread with goose fat). The prices are reasonable and in line with current market rates. The service was very friendly. However, you can't compare it to K&H. We knew those two for decades, and they knew how to treat each other with respect and affection. The "new relationship" still needs time to develop, though. That's just fair. So, the location has taken a small step forward, the food is truly excellent, and the atmosphere is still growing. We were there in December, and it was packed. The bar area was showing the game of the company sports team of an Austrian energy drink manufacturer in Leipzig. So, they've got that covered too. I highly recommend this newly reopened location, and hopefully, it will attract even more spectators for SSV Stötteritz this summer.

Went to Oma Kuchinke's for lunch today. The food was excellent, really delicious. The portion sizes were more than generous. The service was friendly and, despite the restaurant being packed, they kept an eye on empty glasses. It took a little while for the food to arrive, though. However, this was mentioned to us when we made the reservation, and I really appreciate the owner's honesty. The restaurant was packed, so things just don't move that fast in the kitchen. The price/performance ratio is perfectly fine. We've made a reservation for Christmas and will report back then... ...sooo, we were here for Christmas. The Christmas menu was extensive, with appetizers, main courses, and desserts—something for everyone. We had everything from schnitzel and spinach to tongue, as well as the offered roast goose leg. Everything was delicious, with one exception (tastes vary). Only the roast goose leg had a bit too much salt in the sauce. Otherwise, the service was friendly and efficient. Anyone looking for something for Christmas next year can confidently make a reservation at Oma Kuchinke's. Keep up the good work; we'll definitely be eating at your place again.

We had our Christmas party there yesterday. I can't give it more than 5 stars in every respect: a cozy, rustic atmosphere, delicious food, and incredibly hardworking and friendly service staff. The food portions and prices were excellent.

After the failed first attempt (see below), I've now been to Oma Kuchinke's twice and received very attentive service. The food tastes really good – just like Mom's or Grandma's cooking 😉. We'll definitely be back. ------------------------------------- We simply wanted to try the successors to Kuno&Hasi and were very optimistic, as the previous reviews sounded really good. So, on Sunday at 7:00 p.m., we went to "Oma Kuchinke's." We were asked to wait a moment. Then the waiter came back and, instead of taking us to one of the free tables, asked us to leave because the kitchen was overloaded since the outdoor seating area was full. Even our argument that we had time and could wait a bit for our food didn't change his mind. It's a shame; this isn't what I call hospitality. We then went to Theo's "Ambrosia." There, as always, we received a very friendly welcome and excellent service.

The food is okay, but not great. The service leaves much to be desired; it's sometimes very slow, and to be honest, we didn't feel particularly friendly or respected. While the restaurant is generally recommendable, we didn't feel entirely comfortable at Oma Kuchinke's. The way they notice when things are hectic makes it uncomfortable. I'd say it's a bit like the old East German days. ;-)

A charming sports pub with excellent home-style cooking. As a former resident of Stötteriz, I enjoyed a pleasant evening in familiar surroundings. Greetings everyone! Anyone who likes and loves East German food has to go there. The food is incredibly delicious and the portions are huge. The service always has a smile and is super friendly. The whole East German nostalgia experience is perfect there. We'll definitely be back!

An absolute insider tip for fresh, honest, and delicious home-style cooking just like Mom or Grandma used to make. Everything is prepared with love. Large portions for a good price. Delicious classics like head cheese, liver, pasta with tomato sauce, "dead grandma" (a type of sausage), and of course, a mega schnitzel. Not to forget the famous pudding, which is a real hit. Friendly service and a rustic atmosphere complete a fantastic evening. I've rarely seen such a packed sports bar. I'll definitely be back.

Today, we (two people and a Labrador) spontaneously stopped by Oma Kuchinke's. We received a very friendly welcome and were informed that due to several parties, all tables were occupied except for one round table in the middle of the room. We took this table and were served promptly. The drinks arrived quickly, and the food also came quite fast. Considering how busy the place was, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, and the portions were enormous. Our Labrador, Paula, was immediately given a bowl of water. We were also repeatedly and very kindly asked if everything was alright or if we needed anything. In short: Even with such a busy place, we felt very comfortable and welcome. We will definitely come back and can highly recommend Oma Kuchinke to everyone! 👍 Thank you to the whole team! 🙏

This is truly home-cooked food, just like Grandma used to make. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. Even the hungriest of men will be satisfied. The prices are fantastic. The dining room is wonderfully charming, and in the summer you can sit outside. We'll definitely be back!

We go to the restaurant regularly and reserve our table in advance, as we always see how popular it is. This way, we're on the safe side. The staff is always friendly, takes the time to chat, and is very flexible with orders. The food is hot and very plentiful. I celebrated my 60th birthday with 30 people, and everyone was thrilled!

As a true Swabian, my friends surprised me with a visit to Oma Kuschinke's. Although many guests were enjoying the rustic atmosphere, the service was extremely friendly and even had a joke for us. Authentic East German cuisine and incredibly delicious. This certainly won't be our last visit here. The cozy outdoor seating invites you to linger. We had an all-around lovely and enjoyable evening. Highly recommended!

If I couldn't give any stars, I would have! AN ABSOLUTE AND BOTTOMLESS RUDENESS WHAT HAPPENED TO US TODAY AT 4:25 PM!!! We wanted to eat here, and the sign said: "You will be brought to your table." So far, so good. When no one came after a while, my husband went in and asked if someone could show us to our table... He was then shouted at at a volume that could still be heard outside, saying that they needed to pour their drinks first, and so on, but in one tone!!! That's completely unacceptable; that's definitely not how you react to inquisitive guests! We will never come to you again and definitely won't recommend you to anyone! We left; I do NOT need to spend my hard-earned money with you in Leipzig. I've never encountered such a rudeness before!

We were visiting friends around the corner. Being from West Germany, I ordered the Ossinudeln (traditional German pasta). Nice, rustic atmosphere and attentive staff. Even though we were running late, we still got something to eat. We'd love to come back next time we're in Leipzig! I didn't find the men's restroom particularly funny, though 💄

It was my first visit, and I have to say that the restaurant is proof positive that good food isn't rocket science. What was once a somewhat remote sports bar has become a good restaurant with a lovely beer garden. The menu consists of hearty, traditional German cuisine. A little nostalgic for the East, but in moderation. There were three of us, and everyone enjoyed the food. The dog-friendly welcome and prompt service deserve praise. The men's restroom, however, is no longer in keeping with the times.

We visited with eight people and ordered various dishes and drinks, all of which were both delicious and plentiful (the schnitzel is highly recommended). The outdoor seating is very cozy, and the excellent service deserves special mention.

I was looking for a restaurant with regional German food and, hey presto... I hit the jackpot. In addition to the menu, they also offer three daily specials so you won't get bored. The Gose beer certainly has fans, but I'm not going to become a fan. It's good that there are plenty of alternatives. My steak au four was great, and it was a lovely evening in the beer garden. I'll definitely be back.

We wanted to sit outside this early evening (Wednesday, 5 p.m.). Despite numerous free tables (only about a third were occupied), we were told everything was reserved. When we politely asked if we could perhaps stay for an hour and have a bite to eat, we were told that we could only order a drink – but not food. It's not just the decision itself, but above all the tone that makes the difference. Unfortunately, we felt neither welcome nor appreciated. It's a shame, because with a little more consideration, they could have made the best of this situation. So, for us, the only conclusion is: We won't be back.

Ate delicious asparagus and schnitzel.

We ate there last night, and you can expect good, home-style cooking. The drinks arrived promptly, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Between ordering and eating, we played a round of darts. They politely pointed out that the food is freshly cooked and therefore might take a while. There were a lot of guests there, so we were able to fill the time by playing darts. The food portions are sufficiently large. However, I would have liked the plates to be a bit larger to make it easier to cut the schnitzel, for example. I think the prices are absolutely fair, but I would have liked to see portions for children. The portion of "Ossi" pasta is very large. Since there were no separate children's dishes, we opted for the pasta for our 8-year-old son. That would have fed three children. They also offered us a wrap, which I thought was very kind. Personally, I find that a bit awkward. Unfortunately, I didn't see that it was possible to order this as a children's portion. I would have liked to sit outside, but the weather wasn't cooperating. The outdoor area looks very inviting. Maybe next time... I'll definitely remember to take a photo of my meal for the review. My "Dead Grandma" was very tasty, well-seasoned, with potatoes and sauerkraut – cooked a bit too long – but still very tasty. We'd love to come back.

Great concept for reviving old classics. Our dishes were delicious, but some of them lacked a bit of pizzazz - it's supposed to taste like grandma's. <3 The schnitzel was really delicious. The solyanka as an appetizer was very good! The service was excellent. Stay tuned, the concept is great.

Today, after more than 30 years, we were back at our sports venue, the Südoststadion. Also known as the "Temple" among cyclists... it was a journey back in time. We used to race bikes here in the 80s. Nothing has changed... except that today we stopped by Oma Kuchinke's at the stadium and were very pleased with the menu and the service. Thank you very much. We would love to come back...

Everything was very nice, and the food was delicious. The Wiener schnitzel with fries and salad was incredibly tasty. The spicy meat was also amazing. You really feel at home here.

This is absolutely amazing and a brilliant idea. Food like your grandparents used to make with a regional twist. Not only that, but it's truly delicious. The service is fantastic and friendly. Even the sound system in the restrooms puts a smile on your face. It's clean, dogs are welcome, and you can watch the athletes sweating it out outside. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area. 5 stars for this thoroughly thoughtful restaurant.

We've been there twice since reopening this year. Once with my wife and daughter. We got a table spontaneously even though we hadn't reserved, and they made every effort to make it happen. We've also seen it differently at other garden pubs not far away... The chicken nuggets with fries looked like a meal (kids' meals are often a disaster...) and the nuggets were homemade, which makes parents happy too! Then we went again this Wednesday with a few friends. We sat outside first, then played a few cards inside until the end. Everything was great, delicious food, several types of beer on tap, and a few different ones than usual. The same applies to the dishes: traditional but also dishes we haven't had in a while. Nice service and even a good chat with the owner. Keep up the good work, you're in for a treat 👍

We spontaneously met up with friends at Grandma's four days ago. It was our first visit since Kuno and Hasi. We were absolutely thrilled with the varied menu and the friendly service. We only ate one Würzi each, but the dessert (cold dog and pancake) left us with a permanent grin that still lingers today. We've filed a complaint for the flavor explosion! 😉😉. Never again. Not because of the offer, but because the manager of the shop is hanging out in the outdoor area with his friends from the neo-Nazi scene. Questionable tattoos on the edge of what is legally permissible and relevant scene clothes like Thor Steinar leave little room for other interpretations. It's a shame that the club tolerates something like that.

As a restaurateur, I can only be honest, the food is very tasty and served very professionally, calmly, relaxed, etc. I felt like I was on vacation, especially the waitress with short blonde hair is very, very well-groomed and totally friendly... We spontaneously went to the new operator and were very positively surprised. Nice service, delicious food / home-style and at the end there was a drink recommendation (salty grapefruit). It was a completely successful visit. Gladly again.

After a disparaging look at my Asian friend, we were informed that all (unoccupied) tables (i.e. all inside) were reserved and therefore there was no space for the two of us. At 5:00 p.m.! We certainly won't go to Grandma Kuchinke again... What a shame.

Unfortunately, the kitchen was already closed at 9 p.m. on April 29, 2025. Was sent away. Should come back tomorrow. I idiotically drove back to the restaurant today, April 30, 2025 at 6 p.m. Today everything outside was reserved. When I asked if I could eat inside with my three other family members, I was told that I should leave. So...they said it would take 1.5 hours until you got something and they advised you to come again. Funny, because at that time all the tables outside were reserved but only half occupied. It's a shame for the guests who have reserved and, according to the logic, have to wait 1.5 hours. I'm now in Cafe Grundmann. I don't have to drive out by car to do this. Schnitzel and other specialties are available here within 20 minutes. Despite the house being fully booked. Are allowed to use a reserved table.

It's wonderfully quiet to sit in, the children can run and play on the adjacent sports field and the service and food are excellent!

We have been regular guests since it reopened. For us a wonderful restaurant according to old rules. The service is so wonderful, you can talk to her freely. Excellent! The food is plentiful and simply bomb, that's how old cooking works. Absolute recommendation! I'm always happy when I get to come here!

After the renovation, well what can I say six out of five, really, really cool! This is an Ossi restaurant, our gentleman would be a regular there! The guy at the bar is a machine! And the service? Straight away and totally likeable, just like it is here in the East. You can have a nice meal there in the evening, you can come and watch football. I mean, there's still a perfectly normal sausage soup here - I'll find it somewhere today!

Went to the family Easter dinner. We were warmly welcomed. The menu is good local cuisine. We ate brawn and asparagus and were really very full afterwards.

The food is on point, with a small and regional menu. Hopefully the quality stays this good for a long time.

After many very positive stories from our circle of friends and acquaintances, we have now met the new operators of the athletes' home. We were greeted very friendly, the drinks menu is, in contrast to the old operator, more extensive and you can freely choose between 5 types of beer on tap, the food was very rich, freshly prepared and damn tasty - price/performance all thumbs up👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 At the end, we have to say that it was a wonderful visit to the restaurant for us with very friendly bar staff/waiters who always showed a smile and we always had the feeling that they enjoyed their work and that they harmonized very well as a team - please stay like that and we will now watch the Bundesliga and Champions League broadcast more regularly 👍👍👍
