Where should I start..?! - Price and performance at Spencer & Hill are not in proportion. We're happy to pay 25 euros for pasta if the quality is right. My friend, who was actually full after every meal, was still hungry after the pasta dish. -Cocktails: the mojito didn't taste like it. We complained about it. The waitress said people often complain about it (wouldn't be the best choice) and needed us to recommend “Caipirinha” but it tasted just as stupid. -The problem with the wine was that in the menu 0.15 was sold for a cheaper price but was billed at an expensive price and 0.2 -Pizza was mediocre at best We were really served. We don't know how these good reviews come about. In the In general the location was quite nice. But then I'd rather go a little further to Wilma's or sit in the park

Sorry but I just stopped by here on a Tuesday evening! The waiter alone and the boss shooting videos. The store was full and he was completely overwhelmed. Well he had to do the bar and service himself.. I waited 10 minutes for a glass of Prosecco and then my request "on ice and in a wine glass" was simply ignored!! My meal was rated as a 1 and 2 course! I had a salad and pasta sorry I want to eat together! Bread was completely forgotten in advance and well the salad tasted absolutely nothing like Caesar dressing!! (Bland and no taste) I expect more than salty meat and no taste. The pasta was overcooked and the truffle was missing!! The sauce was salty and tasteless. I paid €52 and my complaints were not addressed! Sorry, but unfortunately that doesn't work!

A really cool place. A completely different kind of Italian. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the food is incredibly delicious (we were with 11 people and everyone loved it), great music. Great wine recommendations and really attentive service! Definitely recommended. I'd be happy to come back.

After almost two hours of waiting the food still wasn't there, we canceled our order and ate a currywurst with fries around the corner. One star for the friendly but overwhelmed service.

Went there yesterday with a small group. Initially, the table was reserved for 11 people but only fit 8. We squeezed in 10 of us. It was okay. It took 20 minutes to order. Drinks took 45 minutes. After 90 minutes of no food and the music became unbearably loud, half the group left. The rest of us at least had almost all our food after another 20 minutes. Only the pizza took another 15 minutes and was more cold than lukewarm. My arrabiata was too spicy and overpowered everything else. (Yes, it can be spicy. But only enough so you can taste the rest.) At least my food was nice and hot. The best part was the service, although it could have been a bit more attentive. I can only recommend finding another restaurant.

Underground. Reservation wasted (not enough space for the booked number of guests). Waiting time for drinks and food was unbearably long - another part of our group had to leave the restaurant without getting anything to eat due to scheduling reasons. The pizza we ordered (!) was still not there after almost 2 hours, and unfortunately there was no announcement that it might take a little longer in the kitchen. The drinks consumed during the waiting time were completely collected without batting an eyelid. Awkward. At least our waiter was friendly, but that was the only bright spot. The atmosphere was characterized by cramped seating, dim lighting and music that was way too loud. I can only advise against it.

It smelled so fishy it made my eyes water. The clothes all stank. The music was too loud that the person sitting next to him could not be heard. The service was very long, we waited 30+ minutes for drinks and over an hour for food. When we arrived, the table was not prepared, although we had a reservation several weeks in advance. The waiters didn't come. It’s very cramped, there’s nowhere to dance, there’s nothing to breathe. I don't recommend it.

Six of us were there for dinner on Friday evening. Considering the location on the Ring, we were more than pleasantly surprised. We received a friendly welcome at the entrance, and the reservation worked out perfectly. A great atmosphere, but the chairs aren't great if you're spending three hours there. But that's complaining at a high level 🤣 The service is very friendly and attentive. They apologized a thousand times that the bottle of wine was corked and bought us another round of espresso. The kitchen had a great presentation of the dishes, and the taste was impeccable. When you see and know other places, the prices are reasonable. We'll be happy to come back.

The service is friendly and attentive, but you should allow plenty of time, as the food comes out of the kitchen very slowly. We ordered both an appetizer and a main course – had we known in advance how long it would take, we probably would have opted for just the main course. It's a shame, because the food was quite tasty. However, the prices are significantly too high in my opinion: A plate of spaghetti with meat sauce costs €15, and the version with guanciale costs €16 – I find that overpriced for a portion of pasta. A glass of wine for €10 and a bottle of mineral water for €7.50 are also quite expensive. For two people, we paid a total of €92 – without steak or other high-quality meat dishes. For what we got, the value for money wasn't convincing.

Reserved online for 14 people but didn't get a confirmation by email, then called and got the reservation confirmed, then went there on that day with 14 people and then we found out that there was no reservation! Well, after a bit of back and forth we finally got a seat, the waitress was quite nice but totally overwhelmed, before we ordered we were given 4 slices of bread for 14 people! Almost as a bridge until the order came. After dinner we wanted to order dessert but we were told that it wasn't possible and that we had to leave now!!!! Never go there again!

It is impossible to reach out to this place if you want to make a reservation. No one ever picks up the phone. There is an online form, but the inability to ask specifying questions is frustrating. The service and the food was good, but Spencer and hills does not work until 3 am. They close at 12 am and send their guests to the club next door -vanity, which is a piece of trash and has a whole different vibe. Regardless of the 14% tip I left, the waiter added some positions to the bill that were not supposed to be there, when we called him out on it, the staff tried to resolve the situation, but the experienced was spoilt at that point by multiple factors. Can recommend for a dinner because the food was good, but that’s it. I will not go back there again, as the waiters will try to fool You.

I'll be honest, I have no criticism. Everything was great, food, service and atmosphere. Picked up quickly even though it was pretty full, the food was great and so was the atmosphere. We didn't get a drinks menu but we didn't point it out because we already knew what we were drinking anyway. I would definitely go there again

Very tasty, very nice, very professional and polite. Cozy and pleasant. It is a “slow food” category. Please allow enough time. We only had 80 minutes and it was close. We waited quite a long time for pizza. But the store was full. Otherwise, thank you very much and always happy again!

A restaurant I particularly enjoy visiting because, in my opinion, it serves the best truffle pasta. Unfortunately, the carpaccio is no longer served as a side dish and must be ordered separately. Since the portion of pasta is already very generous, an additional order of carpaccio would often be too much. I would therefore very much like the earlier combination.

We reserved a table as a group and called to say we would be there a quarter of an hour later. The employee told us that this was not a problem. When we got there our table was simply passed on. The staff was extremely unfriendly, especially the bouncer. He became disrespectful, abusive and even sexist. Never again!!

Been there again after a long time. Map, as usual, small and fine. Purely Italian. Unfortunately, price/performance suffered from Corona and inflation. Pizzas have shrunk while prices have risen. Drinks in particular have their price. Nevertheless, the pizza was very tasty and well topped.

Yesterday we went to the trendy trendy restaurant in Cologne for the first time. We made the reservation almost three weeks in advance, so everything went smoothly. The food was really outstanding – absolutely delicious! However, we found the service a bit tiring, as it felt like she asked every 5-10 minutes whether everything was OK. It seemed to us like she was trying to get us to pay and leave as quickly as possible - probably because the restaurant was so busy. There is a star deduction for this. Unfortunately another star is lost because the restaurant was far too full. The space was extremely tight, both next to us and behind us, as many guests were packed into a small space. In addition, despite having a reservation, you are only allowed to stay for two hours, which also bothered us. However, the atmosphere was nice and we liked it.

Mann, 6-jähriges Kind und ich waren nach einem Kinobesuch hier. Die Einrichtung ist schlicht edel. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam. Sie brachte uns frei Haus selbst gemachtes Weizen-Sauerteigbrot mit Paprika-Frischkäse: Köstlich. Ich aß Paccheri Pollo e Zucchine = Kurze Nudeln mit Loch mit Huhn und Zucchini. Sie waren ein purer Genuss. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

We had reserved a table for 20 people for December 13th, 2024, and the reservation was confirmed to us twice in writing. Since we still had a question, we called on Monday (December 9th) and were then told that the reservation did not exist and that there was nothing more we could do. The employee showed no understanding and said "there's nothing you can do now, it's been happening more often lately" (the organizer has changed). What is very far from my mind is how you can confirm a table and then even if you change the organizer you don't even have the decency to say so or apologize for it on the phone. Really bad service!

We had for December 13th. a table reserved for 20 people. Today I called to ask again and then found out that our table had not been noted despite being confirmed twice! How something like this can happen is inexplicable to me. Finding something new for 20 people in 4 days is not only difficult but impossible at the moment. If I hadn't called beforehand we would be there on Friday. We could have been informed; the contact details were available.

There was no structure among the staff, we waited forever for drinks and food. We ordered a table at 7:30 p.m. and didn't get drinks until around 8 p.m., and the food came at 9 p.m. Furthermore, it was like a train station. The restaurant is not for cozy hours.

A table was reserved for 11 people. Not only were we moved once, but after the starter we were asked again to sit at another table. Chaotic conditions and everything is way too tight. There was no question of “sitting comfortably” as the air conditioning was freezing cold. Then after 2.5 hours the food came and was lukewarm to cold. Requests for preparation were commented on with “...do you want shoe soles?” and when we asked if we wouldn't at least get a drink for the circumstances, we were replied: "Why? You're leaving now anyway, the table is only open until 9 p.m...." You can't beat it in terms of blaséness and anti-gastronomy.

That would not be a problem and would be widely available. Upon arrival nothing had been arranged, the waiter did not return after asking about this. Eventually a roast beef was ordered. An entrecote with gluten-containing biscuit was served. After asking twice, they insisted that it was really roast beef. They should either admit their mistakes and their inability to serve food free of certain allergens, or not make these mistakes to begin with. They don't seem to care either way, so don't go here if you have a food allergy. Picture of the "roast beef" included; price of this dish (entrecote) 35 euros. Ambiance is great. The waitress was attentive but seemed forced to be attentive. Unfortunately, my main course was served more lukewarm than warm and it was definitely in the kitchen for a while. That was a real shame. In addition, the sauce of my truffle pasta was not well bound and the whole thing was quite watery. However, the starter was very tasty. All in all, the place didn't convince me to go again. For me, price and performance didn't match.

Unfortunately, I was really disappointed because my Piccata Milanese didn't correspond to Italian cuisine. Unfortunately it wasn't an egg/parmesan shell in which the meat was fried, but breaded. Too bad!

Very disappointed. I chose this place to celebrate my birthday. Booked a week in advance. Therefore we were not informed that the restaurant would be closed due to a private party. We received no respect from the visitors and lost a lot of time as we had a long journey behind us.

If you have a private party starting at 12 p.m., you have to announce it in advance and not at 11 p.m. This is disrespectful to the guests. I don't understand such an attitude.

I would like to complain about my visit last night around 12:00 am. My girlfriend and I just wanted to drink a bottle and enjoy the night. After 15 minutes of no service I went to the bar to place my order. The waitress wasn't particularly friendly and said she only takes orders at the table - which I can understand, our table was right next to the bar. An hour later there was still no one with us, even though the waitress walked past us several times and looked at us indirectly. Instead of serving us, she polished glasses and “danced” with her colleagues. At around 1 a.m. we decided to leave because we were getting too stupid. I understand that there are stressful nights, but I haven't experienced service like this in a long time. Above all, it was pure intention on her part, I don't know why! I own a shop myself and know how important good service is. That's why I don't want to give you a bad review, but that was really disappointing and I couldn't contact you any other way.

Zwei Punkte nur für die trendige Einrichtung, sonst wäre es meine erste 1-Punkte Bewertung geworden. Unaufmerksame Bedienung, die akzeptablen Weine aus der Karte waren alle ausverkauft und wurden durch billige Großhandelsware mit Mondpreisen ersetzt. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis der Speisen ist m.E. unangemessen (und ich gehe gerne gut essen. Wenn die Qualität stimmt, ist der Preis auch egal). Die türkische Musik im Hintergrund passt m.E. nicht zum Lokal und war so laut, dass eine Unterhaltung unmöglich war. Fazit: sicher nie wieder

Ich war bisher fünf Mal in diesem Restaurant und war immer zufrieden. Leider hat sich die Qualität stark verschlechtert. Die Bedienung ist unaufmerksam und unprofessionell, das Essen ist überteuert und nicht mehr gerechtfertigt. Das Ambiente ist zwar nach wie vor schön, aber der Rest lässt zu Wünschen übrig. Momentan keine Empfehlung. Schade...

Because you don't know what you're doing... The ambience is great, the cocktails and the service were also top. I ordered the Spencer “Josper Royal”. This is the only thing shown in red on the menu and is said to be the house specialty. It should be a marinated beef fillet. When I received the plate I was already surprised. The alleged fillet was "riddled with fat" after a taste test it was clear that it was not a fillet! The waiter tried to sell it as “correct” that an entrecote belongs to this dish. When I pointed out the menu to him, the dish was exchanged and he apologized at least 10 times. The new plate actually had a fillet of beef on it. Unfortunately not as described on the menu. It wasn't marinated and wasn't a highlight for my taste. The cooking point (medium) was largely reached. It's a shame that such an alleged specialty is probably not known in the kitchen.

Wir sind auf eine Empfehlung da eingekehrt. Draussen im Gastgarten durften wir Platz nehmen. Leider ging von Anfang an alles daneben. Beim bestellten Drink hat der Campari fast gänzlich gefehlt. Dieser wurde dann minimal nachgefüllt. Das Tatar zur Vorspeise liessen wir zurückgehen, da es weder frisch noch irgend einen Geschmack hatte. Der Ersatz war essbar aber noch immer fade. Die Nudeln rabiatta waren Nudeln mit einer Art Tomaten-Rahmsauce. Der Aufpreis für den Burrata liess sich auch nicht rechtfertigen. Das teuerste Stück Fleisch auf der Speisekarte war fad und zäh. Letztendlich war auf der Rechnung der teurere Wein, welcher nicht erhältlich war. Der Sevice war zwar bemüht, jedoch hatten wir das Gefühl, dass dieser überfordert war. Dies trotz einer grossen Anzahl Kollegen, welche schwatzend herumstanden. Sorry, so geht das nicht. Die Preise sind nicht gerade günstig, die Leistung ist aber nicht einmal befriedigend. Nie mehr...

The food was very good, the vibes were also good. The staff was very nice and our dinner here was very enjoyable. I had the pasta with truffle and my partner had a pizza diavola. I would recommend both!

We were there for the first time since the change of ownership/renovation. This time in a somewhat smaller group because the rest wanted to go to the Gamescom Opening Night. We all enjoyed it very much and the service was very friendly and helpful. She even made sure that my son got a non-alcoholic cocktail that wasn't on the menu. See you next year, we're looking forward to it!

Overall rather disappointing. The food wasn't convincing. The tagliatelle with truffle and carpaccio was very bland. The Pinsa Bruschetta was okay as a sharing appetizer. The service was not convincing. The staff was nice, but it took a long time to prepare the food even though there was hardly anything going on.

Super nice restaurant, we chose this as an option when we were in Cologne with our children. We only had a main course because we didn't want to spend too long at the restaurant with the children. The food was super tasty but a bit small. Very friendly staff who had a chat and asked where we were from.

So Spencer Hill is actually always quite nice. Great drinks, fresh food. Maybe I was a little unlucky with the pizza this time. It looked delicious but was definitely too salty.

This restaurant is also great for large groups! We had the back area to ourselves with almost 50 people. There is also a bar there and the DJ played there on Saturday. All of our wishes were taken into account. The food was great, the atmosphere was great, the service was great👍🏼

At SPENCER & HILL you will find a very harmonious, stylish ambience. The dishes are very tasty and very nicely prepared. When I chose the Caesar salad, I was really excited. Exactly how it should be. The only drawback from my personal point of view was that the portion was too small for the price. Nevertheless, I can recommend everyone to visit this restaurant.

In Germany I have not seen a better restaurant with such wonderful and delicious food than Spencer and Hill. I've been here twice and both times the food was excellent. Great atmosphere in the restaurant, the food is very tasty, the staff is very nice. I'd love to come back when I'm in Cologne. We wanted to watch the Germany game on Saturday. We made a reservation online and also wrote down that we would like to sit outside. This was also confirmed. Well, when we arrived we said we had to sit down in the restaurant. Were sat in front of a television that was just a minute off and the sound was playing in advance. In the end the television stopped working at all. It was definitely a total fail!! The service was very bad. Just because we wanted to pay separately, we had to wait! Others were preferred. I've really enjoyed being there over the years, but that's it for now.

I recently visited the restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. You can find attached the order course which were perfectly prepared and full of taste. The service was impeccable, with attentive and polite staff always ready to offer recommendations. The portions are generous, and the ingredients are fresh and of high quality. In conclusion, "Spencer & Hill" is an excellent place to enjoy in an elegant and welcoming setting. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had an incredible evening at Spencer & Hill during Italy's opening Euros game. They were able to accommodate our large group with a perfect view of the screen, and the atmosphere was electric! We ordered from Chef Danilo’s menu, and the food was outstanding. We had two pastas and a pizza, all of which were generous in portion and rich in flavor. Thank you, Chef Danilo! Overall, it's a fantastic place with an amazing vibe. Definitely go here!

Fusion Küche Gibt nichts schlimmeres als Gerichte zu fusionieren die nichts miteinander zu tuen haben. Mag in den Staaten "IN" sein aber schwer zu verdauen, ein "NO GO"! 2 Punkte für den aufgebrachten Mut, aber mehr nicht.

Nice fitting ambience with an open kitchen, which of course increases confidence in the food We got a good seat and had a great time sitting there too! We would like to highlight Boris (Bobelle) from the service, who got us through the entire evening perfectly. The menu is pleasantly manageable, but there is something for every taste! Also with drinks such as cocktails, wine!!! etc., you are in very good hands here. ------------------------------------------------------ Personal note: THERE IS NO KÖLSCH ON TAGS!!!!!!, only from the bottle (an absurdity for Cologne) This is not appropriate for such a location and has really been a personal setback. Here Boris found a pretty good beer alternative for me and that was completely fine. ------------------------------------------------------ The starter was sensational!!! - Mozzarella in a dough coating - fresh tartare with egg (fantastic) The main course was also sensational!!!! - Vegetarian pizza that cannot be beaten in terms of freshness and quality - Spaghetti in truffle foam with freshly shaved truffles (very, very good) Very good quality of the individual dishes, everything was prepared to perfection and really in pleasant portions. Unfortunately there was no more room for the planned dessert 😉! Conclusion: It's not star-rated cuisine, but honest, high-quality Italian cuisine that is fantastic! Without exception, all of the service staff were pleasantly cheerful and genuinely friendly. Here people work with passion! Great price-performance ratio! Went for dinner on the occasion of a JGA on May 4th, 2024. Reservation hassle-free and convenient online. When we arrived, the contemporary and modern ambience was immediately appealing. We were greeted very friendly and shown to our table. The starters came very quickly and were excellently prepared and of very good quality. We were also very impressed with the main courses. Price-performance ratio is one hundred percent right here! I will definitely visit the restaurant again on my next stay in Cologne.

I have known the restaurant and its cuisine for a long time and I always enjoy coming here. Compliments to the kitchen staff for their stellar food! Very delicious and authentic! A carbonara like you really eat in Rome! Tradition is very important here down to the last detail. In my opinion, the service staff can also make dessert recommendations if you ask for them. I find it rather difficult to stay out of it and stand silently in front of the guest, but the rest was flawless and also very great! In my opinion, the toilets should be cleaner. Basically, the ambience is very nice and more elegant compared to 2016. I can recommend anyone who wanted real Italian food to come here - even if you live 50 km away! Highly Recommended

The food is usually really good, but last time it really disappointed me. Maybe it was just an exception. The service is really bad and totally questionable... just doesn't suit the store. Too bad.

We visited this establishment with work as part of a large party. The restaurant is an L shape with plenty of space inside. Ample parking outside and close to the city centre. With cocktails and amazing beer there is something for everyone. The food is delicious and well prepared. The service was a little slow with only one member of staff covering our area. Which ment getting drinks was a little hit and miss, which was a shame. I would recommend this place.

The waitress had slight memory problems, so a main course arrived very late, the taste of the “Spencer & Hill” pizza was only just above the level of a frozen pizza and after 1.5 hours we and other guests were semi-politely cashed in and thrown out of the restaurant because any “important” party guests were expected. I'm definitely not coming back. 😅

Ordered food for 10 people, unfortunately the 2 steaks were already cold when served...

A really great place. Service was really great. The food was very, very tasty. I can only recommend. We'll be happy to come back next time we visit Cologne.

Super bad service. Although the restaurant was relatively empty when we arrived, the waitresses seemed completely overwhelmed. At first you were greeted in a friendly manner and then that quickly wore off. The drinks you ordered didn't come and you weren't asked if you wanted to order anything else. The tables next door were constantly attended to and served, but no one looked at our table. Even a show of hands was not responded to. After we had finished eating for 15 minutes (the neighboring table was finished after us and they immediately cleared it and asked if they would like anything else) we were then asked if we would like anything else and if everything was ok. I then said that I didn't get the drink I ordered with my meal and that I found it a shame that we weren't paid more attention to and that I wasn't satisfied with the service. The answer was that you could have drawn attention to yourself and we would have been chatting the whole time (Is that an exclusion criterion for being served?!) I then said that we would like to have the bill. 15 minutes later I ordered the bill again from another waitress and again another 10 minutes later (in the meantime the other guests were served again and the cutlery was sorted). And when the bill came, you were asked if you wanted to add something to the amount as a tip. I like to tip a lot when the service is good...but definitely not in this case!!

We were here for the first time today on Good Friday and I was absolutely thrilled. From the ambience to the service to the food, everything was excellent. You could tell the waiters love their job. They were very polite and accommodating and played a big part in ensuring we had such a lovely evening. Grazie Mille

I used to give full marks. We always enjoyed going to Spencer & Hill. Since the reopening, new concept and new menu, I unfortunately have to say that things have decreased significantly in all categories. Only the ambience has become nicer. However, on weekends late at night, the whole store turns into a (vanity) party, whether you like it or not. The clientele has also changed significantly. Without cosmetic surgery and injected body parts you really stand out *laughs… unfortunately it has now become more of a typical tourist ring shop. The waitress couldn't remember any of our orders and didn't seem particularly happy in her job. The food was very expensive and if I order a spaghetti with prawns then there shouldn't be just ONE prawns on the dry noodles. We won't go there anymore :(

The menu for tonight by danilo is spectacular! I highly recommend this restaurant 🙂
