This place is a gem in the heart of Stuttgart! The food is delicious, as are the desserts! And the service is top-notch!

A lovely, rustic restaurant in Stuttgart with very friendly staff and delicious food. Left: Filetgeschnetzeltes (pork fillet | pepper | cream | spaetzle), Right: Swabian Zwiebelrostbraten (German beef | onion | spaetzle | Lemberger sauce | salad) Addition: We stopped by again on May 11, 2025, and ordered (again 😁) Swabian Zwiebelrostbraten. Again, very tasty. 👍🏻😋

A nice place tacked in a quiet area. This is a 150 year old house that was recently (4years ago) turned into a restaurant. They left most of the pictures, books etc in the house so you can imagine how unique it looks. The food was very good with some very nice local cuisine …. The waiter was very friendly and helpful.

Very cozy Swabian restaurant with an authentic atmosphere and friendly service. The Maultaschen were excellent - homemade, seasoned just right, and served with fresh potato salad, as it should be. The onion roast was also perfectly fried and wonderfully tender. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, our visit to the dive bar was a complete disappointment. The lamb's lettuce was dressed with a run-of-the-mill potato dressing. Mushrooms from a jar were served on top. The onion roast was tough and the cook didn't get it done enough for any of us. A very small portion of spaetzle was served with it. When we asked for extra sauce for 4 people, a very small carafe was brought to the table and we were even charged for it. Unfortunately, the incredibly cozy atmosphere and the excellent service cannot make up for the really bad food. We were so disappointed that none of us wanted to try dessert. The portions were so small that we went to Burger King afterwards. Not justified at all for the prices of the dishes. The question really arises as to whether the extremely good reviews are not bought. Very disappointing, we will never come back and really can't recommend a visit to anyone.

Quaint location with a small flaw. There were four of us at this great spot. The menu and daily specials offered enough choice so that everyone could find something to their liking. The food was simply very good and very professionally prepared. Fantastic desserts. The staff is extremely friendly, competent, and was able to answer our questions about the background of this wonderful location. Every corner of the restaurant has its own charm and is unique. Only the restrooms (men and women) need attention. Unfortunately, there was a lack of cleanliness and technical maintenance (lighting, loose toilet seats), and the soap dispensers were empty. (We were there quite early in the evening.) Conclusion: Highly recommended due to the excellent cuisine and unique ambiance. One star deducted due to the situation in the restrooms.

A warm and welcoming place to drink a beer or try some traditional German dishes. The environment is informal and friendly, frequented by young and old, but with a cheerful and light spirit.

What made our experience truly special was the incredibly friendly and attentive staff. They went out of their way to accommodate our request to write “Happy Birthday” on the dessert, even though it wasn’t something they usually do. Their kindness and effort made the moment unforgettable and turned our night into a cherished memory.

Von aussen ganz nett und urig gestaltets Häuschen aber. Wir hatten extra einen 2-er Tisch, zu unserem Geburtstagsessen reserviert. Leider mussten wir trotzdem ca. 20 Minuten warten, biss der Tisch dann frei war. Wir haben auf einem Barhocker an einer Wand gewartet und der versprochene Aperitiv, der aufs Haus gehen sollte, kam nicht. Der bestellte Rostbranten war leider ausgesprochen zäh, die Röstzwiebeln waren geteilt auf dem Stück Fleisch. Die eine Hälfte war matschig die Andere, aus einer Dose, trocken und hart. Die Schmor-Rindersoße war ebenso aus einem Fertigmix, einer Tüte oder Glas entsprungen. Spätzle aus der Tüte (geschmacksneutral) und eine einzige Sorte von Grünem Salat mit Dressing, das ganz süß schmeckte, auch aus irgend einem Fertigmix, übergossen. Alles sehr lieblos. Da helfen auch keine grüne Stoffservietten. Die Wände und Decken sind auch nicht gerade apetitlich, mit Spinnweben und staub übersäht. Nie wieder

We were there as part of a company event, it was great! Michael Schokatz is a great host. My twelve colleagues were without exception satisfied. Since the wine list is very good, with my modest sommelier experience I was able to offer my colleagues a unique experience together with Michael. It was a perfect evening in every way, thank you very much!

Super cozy atmosphere. Very nice employees who provide great service. Swabian cuisine is very tasty. The wine list is great with German and Austrian wines, you will always find what you are looking for.

Had a 4-course New Year's Eve menu. Super tasty. With greetings from the kitchen, 2 types of homemade butter with bread. The waiter brought and ordered the wine list, sparkling wine, white wine, red wine, water, beer, whatever we wanted to drink. Will definitely visit again. Since it's quite small, reservation makes sense

Swabian food with charm. Quite inconspicuous from the outside, you come into a rustic room where you can feel good. We received a very friendly welcome and were able to enjoy a great evening with extremely delicious food and delicious wines. We'll be back - and would be happy to recommend it!

The Spelunkerei is a fantastic restaurant with wonderful hosts and a brilliant chef! We were there for the first time for the four-course New Year's Eve menu - further visits will definitely follow. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy and nostalgic, with wallpaper, paintings and photos as well as old books, lamps, typewriters, etc. - lovers of individually designed restaurants will get their money's worth here. Of course we weren't there for the ambience, but for the food and drink. The two warm hosts have put in a lot of effort and really live their hospitality. Requests were addressed very attentively, the wine list was top and refills were always made in a timely manner. The courses were well spaced and beautifully presented; The feast for the eyes was followed by a taste explosion. We thought it was great to get to know the super friendly chef, who asked after each course how we liked it and shared his thoughts on the creations he had conjured up for us. Thank you for the absolutely great experience with you and for how much effort you put into your guests.

Historical ambience with a twist. The dive bar is bourgeois. Great food, great wines, perfect hosts, smiles everywhere. Reserve instead of losing your composure.

Very tasty home cooking, the menu is small but nice. You can taste that everything is homemade. Very good wine connoisseurs and also offer wine tastings, which we will also visit. The restaurant is very quaint and cozy. In summer you can sit outside nicely.

Great nostalgic location! You wouldn't believe what's hidden behind these walls - great regional cuisine - discreet yet present service - always an open eye and ear - a gigantic wine list and it was delicious across all courses! Keep it up - GREAT!

Rustic, Swabian, in the middle of the residential area. Great roast roast. Flädlessuppe is solid. Also fine cheese spaetzle. As a wine recommendation: Pinot Gris. Very attentive and cool service staff. Hot spot 🔥

We definitely give it 5 stars! We reserved a table for my husband's birthday after we were impressed by the arbor in the wine village. The food was absolutely delicious (venison goulash, schnitzel, spaetzle) and the prices were also reasonable and the portions were decent. Even our 10 year old, always hungry sons found what they were looking for and were fed up! We didn't have to wait long at all and felt well looked after the whole time. The atmosphere of the dive bar is really special. We'll definitely be back. Thank you very much ❤️

Wow, this was gorgeous. Popping here for lunch before hopping on a tram to the zoo we loved the quaint rustic feel about the place. It felt like an old traditional home. We were the only ones here and so were greeted warmly and provided a German menu. Google Lens to the rescue. My partner had consumed a wholesome breakfast beforehand so opted for just a dessert which was a pudding of sorts with cherries and homemade vanilla custard. Delicious. I needed a break from meat so opted for seasonal salad with goat cheese. It was so compacted with various leaves and the two portions of goat's cheese were some of the best I've eaten. I have never been full of just eating leaves but this was filling. Which was a shame as I wanted to eat more of the delicious bread that i saw being carved up at the back. To drink I tried the homemade lemonade which fresh ginger was the prominent flavour. Overall a great place to eat.

The first Maultaschen of my life. Delicious. Great ambience, matching the name.

We ate here with 2 people while passing through based on a recommendation. The ambience is old and rustic, as you would expect from a dive bar. The restaurant is run by young people who are quick and flexible. The food was delicious and the portions were normal. Here we cook freshly without bags. The puree was homemade and the spaetzle was hand scraped. I have a clear recommendation. Maybe it's a good idea to make a reservation in advance, as there is a wine tasting here every last Sunday of the month.

We came across the dive bar by chance while taking a walk and spontaneously decided to eat there. The service was impeccable, we didn't have to wait long. The staff were very friendly throughout. The furnishings are quaint, comfortable and to our liking. We found the food excellent. If we ever end up in Stuttgart again, we will definitely be guests at the Spelunkerei again!

Mixed feelings at the dive bar The Spelunkerei in Wangen is a place with a lot of potential, but also room for improvement. The atmosphere is inviting and the furnishings have a certain charm that invites you to linger. The menu offers a good selection and the food is quite tasty. The portions are reasonable and the prices are fair. Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. Waiting times are often very long, even when the restaurant is not full. This can be especially frustrating when you're hungry or on a tight schedule. The staff, although friendly, often seem overwhelmed and could benefit from additional training. More efficient operation would greatly improve the overall experience. Overall, the dive bar offers an average experience. However, with some improvements, especially in service, it could become a top restaurant in Wangen. I hope management takes note of these points and takes appropriate action.

We “found” this location by chance, but were totally surprised by the rustic atmosphere when we walked in. Very comfortable there, and of course the food was also delicious; We ate the Kässpätzle with delicious mountain cheese.

Das wirklich gemütliche Restaurant hat uns begeistert. Die Weinkarte ist exzellent mit vielen VdP Weingütern zu relativ günstigen Preisen, die Beratung durch den Chef war auch sehr gut. Die Käsespätzle waren die besten seit langer Zeit. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

I, as well as many friends of mine, have been thrilled since our first visit to the dive bar. Discovered by chance, became "regulars" and visited several times a year. Drinks, food, service, ambience and above all the people are absolutely excellent hosts, very attentive and accommodating. Everything is just right here and the price/performance ratio is absolutely reasonable. The regular (sparkling) wine tastings are also highly recommended. 11/10 would come again - and that will continue to happen :)

After the first visit was a complete success, now a repeat visit. The food was again excellent, the service friendly and quick. We personally missed the greeting from the kitchen and the size of the meat seemed a little smaller compared to the first visit. We can recommend this good restaurant and look forward to our next visit.

Hab‘ in Stuttgart schon viele Restaurants besucht. Aber die Spelunkerei hat sich als kompletter Geheimtipp herausgestellt. Die Weihnachtsente mit Knödeln war ein Träumchen. Der Service ist ebenso auf Zack und zuvorkommend. 5 Sterne.

Einer Empfehlung folgend, sind wir in der Spelunkerei zum Abendessen eingekehrt. Das Ambiente ist urig und sehr gemütlich. Die Weinkarte ist hervorragend mit einer sehr guten Auswahl zu sehr moderaten Preisen, was man leider nicht allzu oft antrifft. Die Speisenauswahl ist relativ klein, aber vollkommen ausreichend. Auch das Essen ist klasse und die Portionen sind üppig bemessen. Der Zwiebelrostbraten war perfekt medium und die Maultasche absolut spitze. Und zu guter letzt sind auch die Preise angemessen.

Uriges Restaurant. Gute, hausgemachte Gerichte. Eine sehr gute Weinauswahl. Faires Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis. Umsichtiger, freundlicher Service. Sehr Empfehlenswert.

Leckeres Essen und entspannter Service. Lokalität ist allerdings sehr urig, sodass sich nicht jeder angesprochen fühlt.
