Highly recommended! Rustic, traditional cuisine in a Black Forest half-timbered setting, with friendly staff. Reasonable prices for excellent quality food! We had lamb's lettuce, rump steak, and cordon bleu (daily specials) with croquettes, accompanied by a naturally cloudy pilsner (served in a stoneware mug!!). The chef even comes to the table personally to ask how we are! We'll definitely be back!

We ordered food for takeaway: one Strasbourg sausage salad and one Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) with cream sauce. The food was absolutely delicious, incredibly creamy, and the staff was very friendly. We will definitely come back and will certainly order takeaway again.

Excellent restaurant! Typical German menu, everything very well prepared. The indoor and outdoor dining areas are well decorated and comfortable. Excellent, friendly, and attentive service. The rumpsteak, käsespätzle, and schnitzel are wonderful. And the incredible desserts: Schwartzwaldkirchtorte ice cream and apfelstrudel with ice cream. Everything is incredibly tasty and beautiful to look at. The owners are very kind and wonderful people!

Very good food. I don't know when I last ate such a juicy cordon bleu. The combination of various bacon and cheeses is simply fantastic. We don't need to talk about the homemade sauce; it's an absolute 10 out of 10. The other dishes, like the schnitzel, the burgers, or the Wagen Rockel (carrot and cheese), taste like they were homemade.

I was at the Zum Wagen restaurant today and I was absolutely thrilled! A super friendly couple who immediately make you feel at home – warm, attentive, and with great attention to detail. Spend the night in the car in Fautenbach. Warm welcome from the innkeepers. Simple but very clean room and a delicious breakfast for two. We'll definitely be back in October.

We came across this great restaurant by chance while passing through. Nice Christmas decorations, fast and friendly service. We ate the deer ragout with dumplings - the meat and sauce were absolutely great and 3 dumplings per person left nothing to be desired. The side salad was also varied and delicious. The price/performance ratio is perfectly fine. Unfortunately we live far away - but we'll try to stop by again the next time we're passing through.

We were here for lunch on Sunday and had the sauerbraten with tagliatelle. The service was quick and friendly, but the highlight was the food. Tender meat and a very tasty, perfect sauce. The portion was generous, but there is also the option to order a small portion. We would love to come here to eat again.

Spaetzle was ok, the sauce was bland, and the cheese was unfortunately anything but crispy (I had seen a picture from the review, unfortunately the reality was completely different than what was shown - more like it came from the microwave). 11.5 euros for spaetzle with sauce / 15 euros for the cheese spaetzle received is definitely not acceptable even in this day and age. Unfortunately it was the last time. Too bad... Response to reaction: - The microwave comment refers to the “baked” cheese, but not to the spaetzle, which as I said was okay but nothing special - You can also rate the service and ambience when you pick it up, in my opinion it is in the middle range - My negative reviews were written during a trip around the world and are mainly directed at companies that torture animals - unfortunately you probably missed it - I knew the prices, but not the taste, which was more than inadequate for this price. —> I corrected the comment regarding the apparently incorrectly stated price, I must have had that wrong in my head Unfortunately I didn't take a picture, otherwise this would have served as photo evidence and supported my statements. Heute wollte ich meiner Tochter ein traditionelles Wirtshaus mit gut bürgerlicher Küche bieten. Ausgerechnet dann, wenn der Chef im Krankenhaus liegt. Kurze Karte. Chefin gibt alles. Wir haben unter diesen Umständen gut gegessen und kommen gerne wieder.

Wonderful sauerbraten, homemade spaetzle, absolutely fantastic. 😍 Somewhat questionable pricing policy: two schnitzels with 4 sticks of asparagus for €27.00, half portion (1 schnitzel with 2 sticks of asparagus) still a proud €25.50. Only 1.50 discount for half the price! Since I didn't actually want less asparagus, just not a second schnitzel, I ordered more asparagus: 5 sticks with sauce 16 €. 🤔 So for my portion with one less schnitzel, which I originally just wanted to leave out because of portion adjustment, I ended up paying over €40.🫣 Hm. We only realized that 20 km later.,,🤷 The wagon plate was also excellent. The kitchen is really highly recommended!👍 Addendum based on your answer: Too bad. "Sorry, there was a misunderstanding..." or something similar would have been a better answer. But since I said exactly what I wanted, even when I ordered the asparagus again (!), your request for a specific order is unfortunately off topic. Maybe it wasn't me as a guest who was too vague, but maybe the waitress didn't recognize the problem or didn't find a fair solution? I'm still not deducting a star. Please discuss with each other what you can do better in such a case.

The food was delicious, but the service seemed a bit stressed. No cheerfulness or enthusiasm and the bottle of drink was just put down and not poured into the glass.

Sonntag reserviert um 19:00 Uhr, war dann durch einige Umstände leider erst kurz vor hal acht als wir im Wagen waren. Wir gehen regelmäßig essen und wollten auch mal den Wagen ausprobieren. Restaurant betreten, wir freundliches Hallo und wieder freundlich gesagt, dass wir reserviert hätten. Die Bedienung dann gemeint, wir sollen kurz warten.Im Restaurant waren um diese Uhrzeit auch schon einige Tische leer. Eine Frau nach kurzer Zeit gekommen, wahrscheinlich die Wirtin um uns mitzuteilen, dass wir zu spät sind und ab halb acht die Küche geschlossen ist und wir nichts mehr zu essen bekommen. Ich dann verwundert gefragt „echt, um halb acht schon“ ? Die Frau, dann ja. Ich ok, verwundert über die Uhrzeit mit der Axel gezuckt. Dann kam der Chef (Koch) wie von der Tarantel gestochenen aus der Küche und blufft uns in einem Ton an: Wenn wir zu spät sind , selber schuld. Im Internet steht es groß und breit, hätte man lesen können…..krächz, krächzt, krächz. Ok….so wurde ich in einem Gasthaus als Gast auch noch nie behandelt. Lieber Wagen Wirt, jeder Gast hat ein gewisses Maß an Freundlichkeit verdient. Scheinbar nicht im Wagen in Fautenbach. Leider konnte ich für soviel Unfreundlichkeit nur einen Stern vergeben. Verdient eigentlich 0 Sterne. Diese Gaststätte wird uns sicher nie wieder sehen, dafür gibt es bei uns viel zu viele top Gaststätten die freundlich Ihre Gäste empfangen und mit Top Service und Essen Ihre Gäste verwöhnen. Wir sind dann in die Linde nach Sasbach wo ein freundlicher Wirt, super Bedienungen und ein top Essen die Gäste verwöhnen. So behandelt man keinen Gast lieber Wagen Wirt.

Sunday reserved at 7:00 p.m., but unfortunately due to some circumstances it wasn't until half past eight when we were in the car. We go out to eat regularly and wanted to try out the car. Entered the restaurant, we said a friendly hello and again politely said that we had reserved. The waitress then told us to wait a moment. There were already a few tables empty in the restaurant at this time. A woman came after a short time, probably the landlady, to tell us that we were late and that the kitchen would be closed from half past seven and that we wouldn't get anything to eat. I then asked in surprise, “Really, at half past seven already”? The woman, then yes. I ok, shrugged my axel in surprise at the time. Then the boss (cook) came out of the kitchen as if bitten by a tarantula and bluffed at us in a tone: If we're late, it's our own fault. It's big and wide on the internet, you could have read it... croak, croak, croak. Ok… I have never been treated like that as a guest in an inn. Dear car host, every guest deserves a certain level of friendliness. Apparently not in the car in Fautenbach. Unfortunately I could only give one star for so much unfriendliness. Actually deserves 0 stars. We will certainly never see this restaurant again, as we have far too many top restaurants that welcome their guests in a friendly manner and pamper their guests with top service and food. We then went to the Linde in Sasbach where a friendly host, great service and great food pamper the guests. This is not how you treat a guest, dear car host.

We ended up here by chance. The food was very good. Everything fresh, well seasoned, very tender meat. Both the sauerbraten, rump steak and the turkey slices were simply delicious. Plus homemade spaetzle and fantastic dessert (apple strudel, warm chocolate cake and ice cream with hot raspberries). I hope we are in the region again to stop off here again.

We were lucky that the other restaurants didn't appeal to us. We were able to eat very tasty rump steak, sauerbraten and turkey slices. Then we had an appetite for dessert. Wow, great, delicious. You'll be added to our list of great restaurants and then hopefully we can become repeat customers

Very nice restaurant, very friendly service. The food itself is really good - but what takes the whole thing down a lot are the sauces - they taste totally artificial, like Maggi or definitely like extreme flavor enhancers. I tried the sauces with the sauerbraten and the schnitzel. The salad dressing, however, was delicious.

Gemütlich eingerichtet. Preise etwas teurer, aber das Essen schmeckt lecker, Portionen sind auch reichlich. Parkplätze sind vorhanden.

Der Sauerbraten die Nudeln abgeschmolzen war ein Gedicht!

Essen war leider nur ok. Wir hatten als Vorspeise eine Kürbiscremesuppe, die gut war. Als Hauptspeise einmal selbstgemachte Maultaschen mit Kartoffelsalat und einem grünen Beilagensalat. Die Maultaschen waren gut aber etwas wenig (3 recht dünne Scheiben), der Kartoffelsalat hat geschmeckt, wie aus dem Eimer (Convenience!?). Der grüne Salat hat leider mehrfach geknirscht (Sand/Erde). Das 2. Gericht war ein Rumpsteak mit Pfeffersoße und Pommes für € 28,50. Die Pommes waren gut und reichlich. Das Fleisch war dafür klein und relativ dünn, zudem am Ende sehr durchwachsten bzw. knorpelig. Dieses Gericht gibt es woanders besser und günstiger. Der Service ist sehr schnell und aufmerksam.

Sehr freundliches Personal und ein tolles leckeres Essen. Ohne Reservierung bekamen wir zur Mittagszeit einen Platz. Das Essen wurde zügig serviert. Mein Mann hatte nach seinen Worten das zarteste Schnitzel ever. Ich bestellte Maultaschen mit Kartoffelsalat. Als Schwabe nach drei Wochen Spanienurlaub ein Muss.... Verdiente 5 Sterne. Leider waren wir nur auf der Durchreise, sonst könnte es unser Lieblingslokal werden.

Es war eigentlich ein kleines unauffälliges Restaurant, aber wer hätte gedacht dass das Essen hier so gut ist. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich. Die spätzle haben mich wirklich vom Stuhl gehauen. (Die besten seid langem) War sehr lecker, Empfehlenswert 👍

Ich kann jetzt kein essen direkt bewerten, da ich bzw. wir in den letzten monaten öfters da waren und ich immer unterschiedliches essen gegessen habe, bleibt mir nur zu sagen: Das essen ist wirklich klasse, egal welches ich schon probiert habe. Absolut nix zu meckern. Das personal ist auch super freundlich. Wirklich sehr gute bürgerliche küche, kann man nur weiterempfehlen. In Anlehnung an die eine oder andere negative Rezension; ich würde es begrüßen wenn bei meinem nächsten besuch, der chef den wind etwas runter regulieren könnte. War auf der Terrasse doch mal etwas zu stark eingestellt...

Ein gut gelaunter Koch, der die Gäste freundlich begrüßt, see nette Servicekraft und eines der besten Cordon Bleu die ich je gegessen habe. Und das Fachwerkhaus ist nicht zu Unrecht als schönes Gasthaus ausgezeichnet.

Essen gut wie immer, ist zu empfehlen

Wir waren auf dem Rückweg vom Europa-Park aufgrund der guten Google-Bewertungen mit 10 Personen dort. Wir hatten Sitzplätze im Außenbereich, der insgesamt sehr schön angelegt ist. Man hört zwar die Hauptstraße etwas im Hintergrund, das stört aber nicht wesentlich, denn man sitzt auch recht geschützt hinter dekorativen Gabionen. Der Service war bereits bei Anmeldung absolut freundlich und das bestätigte sich auch vor Ort. Das Essen war geschmacklich (in Schulnoten) als gut zu bewerten und wir haben sogar kostenlos zusätzlichen Nachschlag der Beilagen angeboten und nachgereicht bekommen. Spätzle hausgemacht! Das Lokal bietet innen sehr viele Sitzplätze an, war aber wetterbedingt nur außen belegt. Würden wir erneut besuchen, wenn wir vorbeifahren.

Hab zwischen Lahr und Frankfurt noch keine besseren Spätzle gehabt. Der Service ist auch super.

Wir hatten am Samstag unsere Hochzeit im Gasthaus. Es war sehr schön. Der Saal einfach Klasse , die Bedienungen waren spitze und der Koch hat uns ein Hammer Essen gezaubert. Jeder Gast war total begeistert. Zimmer zum Übernachten sind auch Top und das Frühstück war auch super. Wir werden definitiv immer wieder kommen. Macht weiter so

Angenehmes, gemütliches Ambiente in der Gaststube. Wir wurden sehr freundlich bedient. Die Speisekarte ist vielfältig, aber überschaubar und nicht überladen. Regionale Produkte ( Wein, Spargel, etc.), frisch zubereitet vom sehr netten Koch. Das merkt man am Geschmack. Alles sehr fein. Wir hatten heute Sauerbraten mit Bandnudeln und Preiselbeeren, Spargel mit Kalbs- und Schweineschnitzel mit Sauce Hollandaise. Meine Wagen-Spargel-Schlemmerrolle war genial. So lecker! Und optisch ansprechend angerichtet mit Melone, Erdbeeren, Salat und Schnittlauch. Kann ich wärmstens empfehlen! Wir waren alle sehr zufrieden.

Wer hier nicht isst, ist selbst Schuld! Die Karte ist übersichtlich und es ist für jeden etwas dabei. Das Essen war wieder einmal vorzüglich und sehr frisch. Der Service ist auch hervorragend und das Ambiente gemütlich.

Tischbestellung ging nur um 18.00 Uhr warum auch immer? Im Restaurant ging es sehr wuselig zu und wir mussten länger warten um noch mehr Beilagen zu bekommen. Damit aber auch Schluss mit Meckern. Wir hatten mega leckere Steaks und das Essen war sehr gut. Die Bedienung freundlich und lustig. Hier kann man sehr gut essen gehen!

Der Sauerbraten war so lecker wie nirgends sonst im Umkreis, die Sauce war der Hammer. Auch das Putengeschnetzelte das meineFrau bestellt hatte wahr hervorragend. Die Salatteller waren ebenfalls sehr lecker angerichtet und haben super geschmeckt.

Sehr gute gutbürgerliche Küche, nette Bedienung,alles zu unserer Zufriedenheit. Der Feldsalat mit Speck und Kracherle...ein Träumchen. Wir kommen wieder.

Essen sehr lecker, nur leider waren wir nun schon dreimal dort und jedes mal war etwas aus. Einmal die Champignons, einmal die Maultauschen und einmal die Kroketten. Es ist halt einfach schade wenn so Dauerspeiseangebote für die man eventuell extra zu dem Restaurant fährt aus gehen..
