A great restaurant, with very good food and nice staff. The portions were just the right size. Definitely again!

In the middle of the week the restaurant was very busy, we were assigned the table - in the passage and full of crumbs - but fine. The service is incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, the desserts were exceptional and highly recommended! Unfortunately, smeared edges on the plates are not so great - even in the most hectic conditions, the prices simply have to allow for that!

Definitely try it! The food is incredibly tasty and the service is very attentive. We ate the beef roulade and the beef steak and were so impressed by the good quality of the food. And we were able to learn something about Sorbian culture.

We Wessis - if you can still put it like that - were there at the end of May on a recommendation. What can I say, perfect. My Sorbian wedding meal was amazing. Here we say plated meat with horseradish sauce. I never got anything that good in Vienna. The highlight was that the friendly service person asked me if I wanted more horseradish sauce. She could read minds. Another really nice mug came with a really tasty sauce. Just a dream. The other dishes were also really good. best restaurant in the surrounding area. Be sure to reserve... In my opinion the best restaurant in Bautzen and the surrounding area. Always friendly service, very tasty food. We particularly recommend the roulade, in winter the duck/goose dishes and the desserts. The mustard soup is also a poem. We'd love to come back.

Although we reserved a table in the restaurant, we were able to spontaneously sit outside on the "terrace" when the weather was nice. Friendly service, very tasty food. Gladly again!

Everything is just right here. The food selection and quality are great 👍. The service was simply brilliant, nice, friendly, always had a smile and also took the time to answer a few questions for us. Visiting here was an experience, it was our first time here but definitely not our last. Another big compliment, a ramp was easily installed for the step at the entrance so that the wheelchair could also get in. This is customer service, here you can feel comfortable and enjoy yourself. We can certainly recommend this restaurant.

Schon lange nicht mehr so eine ambitionierte und freundliche Gastgeberin und Inhaberin erlebt . Wir waren gleich 2 Abende hintereinander zu Gast bei Monika und ihrem Team . Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist absolut top , Speisen frisch zubereitet und von toller Qualität, ebenso die Weinauswahl. Dieses Restaurant ist ein Muss wenn man in Bautzen zu Gast ist. Macht weiter so !!!

We had reservations and sat in the outdoor area across the street. As we found out, these were the former meat banks...interesting. The food was very tasty and even though it was brought across the street, still hot. The service staff was quick, attentive and friendly, and they noticed the good structure in the house. A big compliment to the kitchen for the fantastic mustard soup.

I would also like to write a few words about this visit to the restaurant. It was a visit you could wish for. The employees are super nice, attentive, always with a smile on their faces and thus provide a harmonious, feel-good stay. The food was very tasty and prepared with love and the atmosphere was cozy. Wir waren sehr gespannt auf die sorbische Küche, mit der das Restaurant ja explizit wirbt. Fazit vorweg, die Qualität war gut, aber es fehlte der Pfiff und das Besondere. Ich hatte die Fünf Lausitzer Köstlichkeiten: "Frühling in Bautzen" Forellenmuspraline, geräucherte Entenbrust, hausgemachte Fleischsülze, gebackener Ziegenkäse und hausgemachte Hähnchenbratwurst auf Blattsalaten. Es hat sich mir nicht erschlossen, was daran und bei der Zubereitung besonders sorbisch war.Es schmeckte ganz normal wie in jeder anderen normalen Gaststätte. Auch der sächsiche Sauerbraten hat sich nur durch die Beilage böhmische Knödel von jedem normalen Sauerbraten unterschieden. Das Servicepersonal war sehr freundlich und flink. Wenn man wählen kann, auf jeden Fall auch einen Tisch auf der Terasse nehme, man sitzt sehr schön dort. Also zusammenfasend nichts Besonderes, aber auch keine schlechte Küche.

We wanted to end our visit to Bautzen with a visit to a restaurant. My eye quickly fell on Wjelbik, as Sorbian cuisine is not represented here at all. The menu already promised delicacies. All of the dishes met our expectations, but the Bautzen mustard soup and the ox cheeks are particularly noteworthy. The service was quick and unobtrusive, as it should be. We had an enjoyable evening and can recommend it.

We were absolutely thrilled! The atmosphere is really nice, the staff is very warm and the food is pure enjoyment. I particularly enjoyed the vegan spring fricasses! The Wjelbik was our highlight in Bautzen. In principle, from our experience, a reservation would be worthwhile.

A lucky hit on a day trip to Bautzen! I discovered the restaurant online the evening before and luckily reserved a table online because it was full at lunchtime. Our three dishes and also the desserts were all of the best quality and very tasty. The service was friendly and unobtrusive. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely come back. Absolute recommendation!

A must for every visitor to the city and the region 🥰

The visit had been on the agenda for a long time and I was looking forward to it. Expectations were also high due to the numerous positive reviews. From the outside the restaurant looks rather inconspicuous; I wouldn't have noticed it as a restaurant as such. The interior looks much more interesting, many Sorbian themes have been taken up and implemented decoratively throughout the guest room. I found it a bit strange that the service staff unfortunately didn't understand a word of Sorbian and responded with silence to everything that was said. The dishes were okay, the asparagus was generally quite oily and the steak was relatively tasteless despite the other components, it was generally inharmonious and poorly seasoned. In my opinion, the price for the taste and the portion sizes, especially for the steak, is not justified and is worth reconsidering.

From the ambience, to the menu, to the staff and the food, everything is just right. There really wasn't a point that didn't fit. The price-performance ratio simply cannot be beat for the quality. A very good example that can also be delivered at affordable prices and of high quality. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Yesterday we were in Wjelbik for the first time (but definitely not the last). The food was incredibly good and the service was very friendly. You felt very comfortable! The only thing I personally noticed was the volume. We were there on a Saturday evening and of course it was full (so make sure you make a reservation). Therefore it was sometimes very loud and you had to speak a little louder, but all in all 5/5 ⭐️

Wonderfully centrally located, Wjelbik offers great seasonal and regional cuisine at a high level. Very tasty and well-crafted and very lovingly prepared. Liver very tender and tasty, 5 Lausitz delicacies wonderfully light and with great products! Highly recommend the iced coffee Mut homemade Baumkuchen. A full recommendation!

Bei unseren Abstecher nach Bautzen hatten wir uns schon dieses Restaurant über ein Bewertungsportal herausgesucht. Wir haben uns zum Mittag einen Tisch reserviert, sollte man auch machen, es war sehr gut besucht und ist überschaubar. Die Bedienung mega freundlich. Das Essen war echt Spitzenklasse, super angerichtet und absolut top im Geschmack, so gutes Essen findet man nicht oft, es gibt viele sehr gute Restaurants in Deutschland, aber dies hier ist wirklich hervorzuheben, der Koch versteht sein Handwerk, wirklich richtig, richtig gut👍Wer in Bautzen ein sehr gutes Essen möchte, der sollte sich hier unbedingt einen Tisch reservieren.

As visitors to this city, we spent an evening in this extraordinary restaurant. The new interpretation of Sorbian dishes is practically experienced here in star quality. Rarely found in this perfection: regional, seasonal + traditional cuisine with mention of the farming method or farm and also the organic quality (some from Demeter farms). Please keep it up and we'll be happy to come back or plan another visit to Bautzen because of this top-class cuisine! Another thing worth mentioning is the staff - also fantastic, attentive, friendly and well trained. A rarity today - thank you for the wonderful evening

Zwei Monate im voraus baten wir um Reservierung zweier Plätze im Erdgeschoß des Restaurants. Umgehend wurde uns eine schriftliche Zusage erteilt. Pünktlich, 17.30 Uhr waren wir da. Allerdings wurden uns im oberen überfüllten Bereich 2 Plätze zugewiesen, wo bereits mehrere Gesellschaften feierten. Die Wartezeit von mehr als 40 Minuten bis zum Servieren des Hauptgerichtes waren fast unerträglich aufgrund der Lautstärke durch die Feierlichkeiten der Gesellschaften. Wir fühlten uns dort als einzelnes Paar nicht gut aufgehoben. Kein Begrüßungshäppchen oder dgl., was man von tollen Restaurants kennt, wurde gereicht. Die Sorbische Roulade wurde serviert ohne Nachfrage, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Geschmacklich war diese gut, aber keinesfalls umwerfend. Es fehlte einfach der Pfiff bei der Sosse. Für das Geld gibt es bessere Restaurants und können daher keine Empfehlung aussprechen.

Today was my first and certainly not the last visit to this restaurant. Everything is really right here! I rarely experience that these days. The service in Sorbian traditional costume is an eye-catcher in itself and the unobtrusive, friendly and attentive hospitality - top! The atmosphere is cozy and modern. The food was a feast for the taste buds and the eyes! ❤️ I would love to come back!

We had made a reservation for lunch in the restaurant for 17 people. From the reservation onwards, everything was very professional and forward-looking. Due to the large number of people, suggestions/recommendations regarding the process were made to us directly when making the reservation. Things continued just as professionally on site. Super nice welcome and service. House-made drinks and food were recommended. The waiting times for drinks and food were great. The quality of the food was terrific. There were crayons and pictures for the children to color. We were all completely satisfied and would definitely recommend the restaurant.

Super nice and attentive service. The food was very tasty. What we didn't like so much was the very bright and low hanging lamp directly above the table. We also had to sit at two tables opposite each other. Very close to the left and right other guests. This meant that you couldn't talk to each other without others overhearing everything, or you almost had to lie across the table.

A great restaurant in downtown Bautzen. The menu was regional and had something for every taste. The price was also completely OK. There are parking spaces in front of the door, but there is a fee as it is owned by the city. You should order in advance otherwise you won't get a seat. The food was delicious, the service was very friendly and attentive. We didn't have to wait long for drinks and food. The waitress wears traditional costume and is happy to tell you about the history and customs of the Sorbs. Highly Recommended! Also great for small conferences! Absolute recommendation!

Tip to management: At rush hour, the new guests stand at the clothes rack and wait cramped for their reserved seats. However, the seated guests should be able to continue to enjoy the hospitality without being observed/harassed. Therefore, use the large anteroom in front of the restaurant for arriving guests. War sehr gemütlich und essen war lecker

Das Ambiente des Restaurants war sehr schlicht aber modern und passend zum Thema eingerichtet. Das Service Personal war sehr freundlich und sehr zu vorkommend. Die Auswahl an Speisen war ausreichend allerdings nicht alles unbedingt sorbisch, ich denke das für jeden etwas dabei ist. Das Essen hatte sehr gut geschmeckt, es wurde wunderbar zu bereitet und abgeschmeckt allerdings denke ich hier bei das es, bei vielen Speisen, Geschmackssache ist. Wir hatten einen Hund dabei, dieser durfte ohne Probleme mit rein. Trotz das wir eine größere Gruppe waren (es zahlte jeder für sich selbst) merkte sich das Personal wer was bestellt hatte, somit ging das reibungslos seinen Gang. In großen und ganzen war das ein super gelungener Abend und wir werden denke ich wieder mal dort essen gehen.

Nach vielen, leider recht unfreundlichen Erfahrungen im Osten der Republik, war es eine wirklich Wohltat im Wjelbik einkehren zu dürfen. Die Bedienungen sind ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen war sehr lecker und schön angerichtet. Auf Sonderwünsche wurde absolut nett reagiert. Würden wir dort in der Nähe wohnen, wäre das ganz sicher uns Stammlokal.

War ein sehr schöner Besuch. Wir wurden am Eingang sehr freundlich begrüßt und zu unserem Platz geführt. Trotz hoher Besucherzahlen war der Service eine 10/10. Sehr freundlich und höflich. Das Essen kam sehr schnell. Das Essen ist etwas Neues was man nicht jeden Tag bekommt. Ein Erlebnis was man gern mal erleben kann. Wir werden auf jeden fall mal wieder vorbeischauen.

Waren heute zum Essen mit Kunden, es war super lecker die Hochzeitssuppe sowie das Hochzeitsessen. Der Service super freundlich . Leider wurde es zum Schluss kühl im Lokal dann sind wir alle nach Hause.
