We had dinner at Wjelbik yesterday and were absolutely delighted with everything. The staff was very friendly, and despite the restaurant being full, no one seemed stressed. The food was wonderful, from the appetizer to the main course to the dessert. Thank you for a lovely evening.

The perfect end to a day in Bautzen was dinner here. The staff are friendly and helpful. Orders were taken quickly, and even the wait for the main course flew by. The appetizers were absolutely delicious 😋 Our menu selection covered almost the entire menu, allowing us to sample a wide variety of dishes. The duck was wonderfully tender, the veal schnitzel was incredibly tasty, the "false veal fillet" was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and so on and so forth... Every dish on the menu was truly delicious. You absolutely shouldn't miss the desserts either. They perfectly round off the meal. A fantastic restaurant that we will definitely return to. Thank you!

We went there for a dinner celebrating 50 years since we started university. The service was fantastic. The food was even better – the ambiance was sophisticated. We were greeted with bread and salt and accompanied by good Serbian wishes. The food was freshly prepared, presented in a modern style, and tasted superb. All the girls and the gentlemen accompanying them were very impressed with this place – with the food and the very attentive service. We will be back. This Sorbian restaurant completely won us over and is an excellent recommendation for the town of Baitzen.

We dined here on September 17th for my father's 80th birthday. I've been a chef myself for 43 years and still work in the kitchen. What we experienced here will stay with us for a long time. The service staff was extremely professional and very friendly. Special requests were no problem at all. Thank you for that! 👍 From the appetizer to the main course to the dessert, the food was simply a feast for the eyes and the palate. The flavors were extremely well-balanced, the cooking was absolutely perfect (the calf's liver was perfectly pink!), and the presentation was modern. The dishes were piping hot and the portions were generous. The mustard roast was incredibly tender, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. We would like to thank you again and will definitely be back. We were here with a tour group. After a warm welcome with bread and salt, we were served the Sorbian wedding menu by staff dressed in traditional Sorbian costumes. We also gained some insights into Sorbian traditions. Anyone visiting Bautzen should definitely stop by this restaurant.

While visiting Bautzen, we stumbled upon this restaurant somewhat by accident, but it was a great find. The place is atmospheric, the food is delicious and interesting, and the staff is helpful and friendly. It's definitely worth a visit to sample the regional dishes.

Wjelbik is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Bautzen. Anyone who appreciates good food will feel right at home here.

The best place in town, a very authentic restaurant – the owner works professionally in Sorbian traditional costume, and the "Sagenfenster" (saga window) is a real eye-catcher. We were able to stay for dinner without a reservation and indulged ourselves: "Five Lusatian Delicacies" – meat aspic, trout mousse praline, baked goat's cheese, Bautzen mustard roast, corn-fed chicken sausages, a salad bouquet, or fried veal liver in Marsala sauce with mashed potatoes and onion rings. This was accompanied by a well-tapped regional beer. Everything was very well prepared and tasted excellent. Add to that the excellent service – we give it 5 stars and would happily recommend this restaurant.

We had dinner at the WJELBEK, and we can say that everything was absolutely outstanding. From the welcome to the farewell, we felt very comfortable and welcome. One thing bothered me: the service changed constantly. We were served by at least five different servers that evening. That's not very pleasant, even though everyone was friendly. The two of us were here for Saturday lunch. Despite having reserved a table, we were immediately offered a table. The restaurant has a sophisticated atmosphere, with exceptionally friendly staff and truly excellent cuisine. In addition to a varied menu, they offer an extensive wine selection, including a fine selection by the glass. The drinks and food were served without long waits. We chose mustard soup and veal liver with mashed potatoes. We hadn't tried mustard soup before, and it was a revelation: delicately seasoned and with such a good poached egg, topped with a foam of herbs. The starter was even surpassed by the liver. I've never had such tenderly fried liver in my entire life. The junior manager, dressed in Sorbian costume, embodied the authenticity of the restaurant and was visibly pleased that the guests felt at home. We were also lucky that a Sorbian family celebration was taking place at neighboring tables, so we were also able to experience songs and graces in Sorbian.

After the wonderful meal here on Saturday, I came back here especially on my way back from Görlitz. Today, the wonderful autumn menu with chanterelle mushrooms. A superlative taste experience! This is a very nice restaurant with outdoor seating around the corner. Our meals: wedding soup, five delicacies, and aspic were very good and interesting, and absolutely excellent value for money. I personally highly recommend the aspic with fried potatoes! And of course, the staff shouldn't be underestimated either... thumbs up.

The food is traditional and very tasty. Serbian cuisine in that region is not much different from other local dishes. The service was fantastic and very friendly. We were a group of six, and they easily arranged tables for us and served the children.

The Cordon Bleu was definitely one of the best I've ever eaten! Actually, I had two of them, so it was easy to fill you up. :) The service was friendly, and the overall experience was relaxed. Our advance reservation for several people on the same day was no problem.

As always, a delight.

This was a culinary experience, unique, with attention to detail and utterly delicious. The service was natural, courteous, attentive, and friendly. The interior was eye-catching, and the entrance very inviting. We sat in the small garden around the corner and felt at home. The information on the menu about the origins and lifestyle of the Sorbs was very interesting. The selection of dishes wasn't extensive, but sufficient. The price was a bit high, but reasonable. We will definitely recommend it and will be back.

Here, high-quality ingredients are prepared in a wonderful atmosphere to create a true culinary delight, served with style. We've been coming to this restaurant for years, at irregular but regular intervals. Its exceptionally polite staff and friendly owner are always there. The food is comparable to a top grade, the menu has been changing for 20 years, and the prices are absolutely reasonable, even given the current economic climate. A must-visit when we're back in this area from the north.

Cooking as a craft at its finest: Perfectly prepared dishes with finely balanced flavor nuances. We've rarely eaten this well – outside of Michelin-starred cuisine – which is why we visited Wjelbik twice during our two-day visit to Bautzen. The staff is extremely friendly. Thank you for this culinary experience! We recommend making a table reservation in advance by phone.

Highly recommended. The Lusatian roulades with red cabbage and napkin dumplings were a delight. It's a shame the kitchen closes at 7:30 p.m. The wine selection by the glass also leaves something to be desired.

We were four adults, a child, and a dog, and had reserved a table outside. The welcome was excellent. The dog was given water, and the child was given crayons and a story to color in. Our server was very prompt without being intrusive, and the food was simply excellent. The value for money is also excellent. The restaurant is definitely recommended. Anyone interested in Sorbian cuisine should definitely stop here.
