Absoluter Geheimtipp mit Herz und Seele! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ​Wir hatten einen fantastischen Abend im Sophienbäck und sind absolut begeistert. ​Die Küche: Einfach perfekt! Jedes Gericht war auf den Punkt zubereitet und geschmacklich ein absolutes Highlight. ​Die Weinauswahl: Großartig und perfekt auf das Essen abgestimmt. ​Das Ambiente: Der wunderschöne Biergarten lädt zum Verweilen ein und bietet die perfekte Kulisse für einen lauschigen Abend. ​Das wahre Herzstück des Lokals sind jedoch die Gastgeber: Wirt Johannes ist ein unglaublich charmanter und eloquenter Gastgeber, der mit echtem Fachwissen berät und fantastische Empfehlungen ausspricht. Seine Lebensgefährtin Gabriela umsorgt die Gäste mit einer solchen Herzlichkeit und Freundlichkeit, dass man sich sofort wie bei Freunden zu Hause fühlt. ​Fazit: Kulinarischer Genuss trifft auf gelebte Gastfreundschaft. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Bin Wiederholungstäterin: hab die Speisekarte durchpobiert und bin begeistert vom super leckerem Essen und gutem Wein in schönstem fränkischem Ambiente, besonders vom urigen Gärtchen mit einem grünem Dach aus Weinreben, dessen Trauben einem quasi in den Mund wachsen....dazu nette Bedienung und ein interessanter Wirt: beste Voraussetzung für ein ideales Lokal im Quartier!

Der Sophienbäck bzw. die Sophie verströmt schon beim Betreten urfränkische Gemütlichkeit: Wem bei diesem Ambiente nicht das Herz aufgeht, dann spätestens beim Blick auf die legendäre Bier- und Weinkarte mit brachialer Vielfalt. Die Räumlichkeiten an sich verkörpern unverfälscht und echt Würzburger Geschichte (Stichwort: Bäcken-Tradition) par Excellence: Hier wurde zum Glück nie was wegsaniert, wegmodernisiert oder weg"lounge"iert. Die fränkischen Speisen sind überragend - egal ob vegetarisch oder deftig mit Fleisch. Mit Johann bedient im Sophienbäck ein lustiges Unikat - der Mann hat einen tollen Humor! Ja und manchmal leider auch ein Gedächtnis wie ein Sieb, was Bestellungen angeht. Da muss man dann halt gelegentlich nochmal bestellen bzw. sichergehen, dass das bestellte Essen auch kommt. Aber das macht die liebe Art des gesamten Teams wieder wett. Kurzum: Vorbehaltslos zu empfehlen, super Bäck in Würzburg!

Essensportion war viel zu klein für den Preis. Insgesamt sind die Preise selbst für die Stadt recht hoch.

Ein etwas abgelegenes Restaurant mit wunderbarer Atmosphäre. Mein Cordon Bleu war gut, ebenso die Biere. Das Englisch des Personals könnte verbessert werden.

Der Wirt offerierte eine von uns gemeinsam ausgesuchte kleine, aber bunte fränkische Herbstküche. Alle meine Gäste waren von dem Essen begeistert. Auch die mannigfaltigen heimischen Biere und Weinverköstigungen kamen sehr gut an. Die Bedienungen waren sehr freundlich und gut gelaunt, auch für einen kleinen Spaß zu haben. Die Mahlzeiten wurden zügig serviert. Niemand musste warten. Veganer und Gäste mit Laktoseintoleranz wurden berücksichtigt. Ich wüsste von niemandem, der/die sich über kaltes Essen beschwert hätte. Wir durften auch für den Nachmittagskaffee selbstgemachten Kuchen mitbringen. Das gemütliche Ambiente trug zur harmonischen Atmosphäre bei. Die Preise waren der Qualität und Quantität absolut angemessen. Es musste keiner verhungern oder verdursten. Einziges, aber zu vernachlässigen Manko wäre, aber da spreche ich nur für mich, bei Dunkelheit könnten die Lampen etwas heller leuchten. Das würde das Lesen der Speisekarte erleichtern. Letztendlich das Sophienbäck zu besuchen, lohnt sich alleine wegen der etwas skurrilen, aber netten und ruhigen Persönlichkeit des Chefs. Gerne immer wieder, Vielleicht probiere ich nächstes Mal die berühmte Currywurst mit Pommes-frites, soll die beste aus ganz Würzburg oder sogar Franken oder Bay...sein!?

Vermutlich war Goethe vor 200 Jahren hier auf der Durchreise. Er dichtete, inspiriert von Atmosphäre, Speisen, Getränken und Gastfreundschaft dieser fränkischen Oase, sein berühmtes Zitat aus dem Osterspaziergang: „Zufrieden jauchzet groß und klein: Hier bin ich Mensch, hier darf ich’s sein.“ 💃🏼

Wir haben so mittlere Erfahrungen gemacht im SophienBäck, wir kommen von etwas weiter her, und wurden vom Service als "Wüstenmenschen" bezeichnet als wir für uns eine Flasche Wasser bestellt hatten, und keinen Alkohol. Das sagt man einfach nicht zu Gästen, sorry. Auf das Essen haben wir sehr lange gewartet, das wurde uns zwar gesagt aber die Portionen waren am Ende recht klein, so dass wir nicht alle satt geworden sind. Die Geräuschkulisse war sehr laut, da es dort eng ist. Auch wenn es als "Spaß" gemeint war vom Personal, so welche Anmerkungen sind einfach unangebracht, es hätte auch sein können dass einer von uns z.B ein Alkoholproblem hat o.ä , da sind so welche Anmerkungen einfach unseriös. Danke für die gereimten Zeilen – nur schade, dass auf meine konkrete Kritik nicht eingegangen wird. Der Spruch ‚Wüstenmenschen‘ ist tatsächlich gefallen, und wir haben niemanden gehetzt. Meine Bewertung beschreibt schlicht unsere Erfahrung – ob man das ernst nimmt oder lieber in Reimen abtut, sagt am Ende mehr über den Umgang mit Gästen als über uns.

I'm a regular guest. But I haven't written a review yet. It's about time. Outside in the garden, you're surrounded by vines, inside by wine-clad tables, and the drinks menu tempts you with wine. However, the draft beer selection shouldn't go unmentioned: 10 are served in a changing selection, always in the brewery's matching glass. The Scots have always known that barley liquor can also be distilled. And so has the innkeeper. That's why a respectable selection of Scottish spirits is available for your enjoyment. Slainthe mhath! The pleasure of drinking requires a meal. The menu offers a rather small, but special and freshly prepared selection. You can never leave this place without trying the legendary cordon bleu anyway. :-) But there are also truly special dishes, such as veal heart. Where else can you enjoy such specialties these days? A place, off the main roads, in a residential area, cozy, away from the mainstream and noise of the city center, with personal contact with the owner, Johannes, who runs the place with passion and Gabriele(!), is simply special, worth visiting and worthy of description – online. I look forward to many more enjoyable visits! The amount stated below, which I spend for a visit, includes several drinks and Scottish evening companions…

Above the Ring Road, and—whoosh—you're out of the hustle and bustle of the city center. The small restaurant is picturesquely situated; if you're lucky enough to be there during the season, you'll sit under a roof of vines and leaves. Wonderful. The food is first-class, highly recommended, and extremely tasty. An excellent restaurant!

With my colleague from Baden-Württemberg, we were drawn there, our hearts were thirsty. We tried it – oh holy foam, the beer was a poem, a liquid dream. Simone, the waitress, quick as the wind, so welcoming that even grumpy people are happy. The chef conjures up dishes so flavorful, so delicious, you just want to stay and never go home. And then the two hosts, what sunshine, they couldn't be in a better mood! They laugh, they joke, they infect you, so you feel like the happiest man here. One sip, then two – we laughed so much, the time of our lives, we wanted more! So I warn you all: Whoever drinks here once, goes home happier than when they came in – and sings! 🍻 Five stars, because anything less would be a crime. There's nothing to complain about here, only joy to speak of. So come on, everyone, it's worth it – because here, everyday life becomes a celebration full of joy!

What can I write? The SophienBäck is truly special. The food and drinks take a while, and if you're used to regular service, you start to get impatient. But the "spoiled" attitude of the owners makes up for it. We left feeling very amused and had a wonderful evening. Go there, have a bite to eat beforehand, and enjoy the excellent Franconian wine, and you'll be able to survive the wait for your food in a relaxed manner. We'll definitely visit the wine bar again.

A super cozy atmosphere. The service is great. The owner is also on-site and incredibly nice. We did both the wine tasting and part of the beer tasting. The food is simply amazing. I recommend the currywurst with fries. It's not a little spicy, though, but rather extremely hot. I thought it was amazing. In short: Come here, you won't regret it. :-)

The beer was delicious. The tables were spotlessly clean. The atmosphere was very charming. Many beers – out of this world. The owner was very knowledgeable and friendly. I look forward to seeing you again soon for the second part of the beer tasting.

Quality. Regional wines. Beers from authentic breweries that still make "vital" beer. Bavarian-French dishes made with attention to detail. Even the simplest dishes become unique (a simple sautéed ceauto is soaked in wine, juniper, and bay leaves). Perfect value for money. Welcoming service.

I was hoping to find a gem here because I'd received countless personal recommendations for this restaurant. Unfortunately, we didn't like it at all. The orders were mixed up, and the food wasn't particularly tasty. The service was poor. We were expecting a great evening and were unfortunately very disappointed. The price was also relatively high. For great food, the price of almost €200 for 6 people would be acceptable, but given this disappointment, it's unbearable. Unfortunately, we wouldn't eat here again.

The best cordon bleu I've ever eaten! Add to that the super-friendly and welcoming owners, who get involved themselves and are always coming up with something new with a lot of humor and great ideas. I was particularly impressed by the huge selection of whiskeys – it's a real treat for any connoisseur. The ambiance is rather classic, but that's exactly what fits perfectly with a Franconian bakery and adds to the charm. All in all, it's a place where you simply feel at home. Highly recommended!

I'm writing this review as an overnight guest of the operator's "Family-Friendly Apartments by the Park": The accommodation is centrally located, bright, and modernly furnished – that's definitely a plus. On the morning of my arrival, I was informed that the key would be handed over personally by ringing the bell at the attached restaurant. Only afterward did I learn that no one was there and receive instructions for self-arrival. The restaurant was closed – there was no advance information about this, nor were there any signs in the entrance area. Instead, there were menus in the accommodation and a notice saying that food could be ordered to your room. After several hours of asking, I was informed that the apartment was closed for vacation. The internet didn't work. My report also only received an explanation hours later that they were switching to fiber optics and that there were technical problems. There was no prior information or interim solution, and the response seemed unhelpful ("the connection to the Fritzbox was available..."). The safe provided is small, light, and not secured – completely unsuitable for storing valuables. The air conditioning consists of a portable unit without an exhaust duct – making it practically useless. The windows cannot be fully shaded, and there are no curtains in the lower windows. This limits both privacy and sleep quality. The television was on the windowsill, without a satellite connection as advertised. Instead, only a streaming box was connected – without instructions and unusable due to the lack of internet. So, effectively, the television was purely decorative. An information sheet listed breakfast restaurants – however, the first one listed has been closed for about a year. The accommodation is described as family-friendly – ​​I can't understand that. It's a single, large room with no spatial separation, which isn't very practical with children. The outdoor area consisted of a small courtyard and a duplex parking garage where bicycles and junk were parked – certainly not a family-friendly environment. Overall, the stay was disappointing for the price of €100 per night. Many details about the amenities were inaccurate, and communication left a lot to be desired. I would not book this accommodation again.

Lovely place, quiet and beautiful garden with very sweet and kind staff. Had a great dinner after a long day on the road and it was the best place we could have chosen along the way. Many thanks again to the staff!

We visited Sophienbäck last week for the first time – but definitely not the last. Although it wasn't officially open yet, we received a very friendly welcome from the owner and his partner. We struck up a pleasant conversation and immediately felt welcome. Seated idyllically under the vine leaves, surrounded by gnarled, old vines, we drank Franconian wine from a traditional Römer and spent a wonderful evening with our friends. For dinner, we ordered the Sophien classic. To my surprise, it was truly the best cordon bleu I've ever eaten. It was perfect. We were served by a young, extremely friendly, and hard-working student. In summary, everything was perfect. The ambiance, the service, the cuisine, and the owner, Johannes, with his diverse knowledge and passion for his profession. They also rent out guest rooms there. Where better to eat and stay than in the quiet and beautiful Sanderau, near the Ringpark and the old town?

I arrived hungry and (and that's actually not an exaggeration) two minutes later I had a light and a great meal on the table. Great store! I love it.

Great restaurant, but sometimes you wait a long time for someone to take your order. But once you place your order, drinks and food arrive quite quickly. It still doesn't help if it takes a long time until someone comes to take the second order... The food is great, no question, but the beer prices are very questionable at the moment. For this location, over 5 euros for a half is a lot. Also sometimes “Renade” with her Franconian slouch is simply missing.... Renade: Get in touch with me! 😂

We are the ladies who have been tasting beer as a couple for 10 years :) We had a very, very nice evening, in a pleasantly rustic atmosphere with a great selection of different good beers and extremely good food! The innkeeper personally guided us through the evening with lots of interesting information - 10/10 with pleasure again!

We were at Sophienbäck last night and can only recommend it. We did a beer and wine tasting. Johannes is very knowledgeable and shares interesting information. The Sophienbäck is definitely very unique and should be much better known for the samples. The food was also very tasty.

My review does not apply to the restaurant but to the accommodation that the restaurant owners also offer via Airbnb. Unfortunately I can't leave a review there because the accommodation was booked through my work and not through me personally, so I just have to say something here. It's been a long time since I was treated as rudely as by Johannes the owner. I was complained that I apparently left the room in a catastrophic condition. When I asked what was so disastrous, they mentioned that there were dirty towels on the floor. Where else do you put dirty towels if there is no laundry basket? It rained all day and me and my dog ​​arrived at the accommodation soaking wet. Of course the towels are dirty after use. That's what they're there for. Then people complained that it smelled so much of garlic, with the comment that it might be normal in Asia to cook with more smelly food, but not here. I was born in Germany and cooked pasta with pesto and a clove of garlic. What does this have to do with my Asian roots? The room is small, without an extractor hood, so you can immediately smell that something has been cooked. I then pointed out to him that this comment was pretty racist and asked him if he didn't know garlic? And he just hung up. He didn't answer it again either. And previously threatened me with a bad review on Airbnb. Well, it's a shame that I don't have a profile there. I don't normally write reviews, but anyone who threatens me can use Karma to make their own soup out of spoons. If you want to spend the night here, you should be careful not to use the room. It's not suitable for cooking anyway. There was no sharp knife, not even salt or any basic spices. And it's best to bring your own towels and bowls because everything I used got upset about it. Yes me and my dog ​​used the room. We pay for that too. We didn't break anything or anything. In addition, the WiFi was catastrophically bad. You can talk about anything, but the owner didn't want to. Outrageously simple.

A very special place in a side street near the Adalbero Church. The cuisine and hospitality are simply outstanding and second to none. We always enjoy being guests there.

Johannes and Gabriela are very friendly and wonderful hosts. We had a fantastic stay in their apartment and really enjoyed the food in their restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and our 2 year old especially loved the pasta! The vegetarian dishes are a must-try, and the homemade grape juice and aromatic beer went perfectly with our meal. We can only recommend this place and look forward to another visit!

Chef Sebastian's food is excellent - always fresh, tasty and worth the price. The landlord Johannes and his wife Gaby try to look after their guests in a positive way. The selection of drinks, especially the fresh draft beers, leaves nothing to be desired, but the pints are also delicious. We come to the Schafkopfen, to the regulars' table and privately here, there's nothing to complain about 🤗 Unfortunately, an update is necessary: ​​even if the landlord feels that his guests are treating him inappropriately, he should maintain composure and not loudly insult long-time regular guests. Sometimes it is only written when the guests arrive. The service is very friendly. I admire Gabi's composure. The “shop keeper” Johannes is a philosopher who has a good feel for his customers. Unfortunately there is no parking space.

Cozy restaurant, the Cordon Bleu was the best I've ever eaten. Incredibly edible ;-) The host is awesome. I'll be back!

Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist leider nicht i.O. Personalmangel ist das eine, aber Essen, dass um Bestandteile, die extra auf der Karte ausgewiesen sind und deshalb bestellt wurden, einfach zu reduzieren ohne den Gast zu fragen ob er dann lieber ein anderes Gericht möchte, geht bei den Preisen nicht. Das war leider nicht das einzige Manko. Ich hoffe es wird sich wieder einbalancieren, da es ein schöner Ort ist.

An absolutely amazing experience. Family owned and one of the few last of its kind. We may be tourists visiting but this is both a tourists and a locals dream. The wait staff were way busier than expected but communicated constantly with us and we ended up having one of the best nights out in a long time. Thank you Johannes and team, I cannot express my gratitude enough for such delicious food and wine and service.

Very nice place to eat. The personnel is very friendly and courteous. Even my big dog was allowed to accompany me 🫶. I would love to come back.

The Sophienbäck is a rustic wine bar with flair and tradition, a visit is worth it! We were there last Friday and it was really busy. Despite the stress, the staff was relaxed and friendly. The chef did a great job, the wait was worth it, we were very satisfied!

We spontaneously got a spot and left absolutely thrilled. The service is quick and very friendly. There is a very large selection of drinks. The food was extremely delicate. It came quickly and hot. You can't go wrong if you stop by there.

A really great menu that stands out from other restaurants in Würzburg. No standard dishes, but a constantly changing special selection. Beautiful old wine bar with many wines and also 12 different draft beers. The service was also very pleasant.

Great place, worth seeking out, offering a warm welcome, excellent beer, even better local wine, fantastic food (highly recommend the BlauArt trout dish) and a friendly, atmosphere.

We have been guests at Johannes's restaurant several times and they have always been lovely and atmospheric evenings. The rustic ambience and the delicious food (the Schäufele is highly recommended!) make the SophienBäck one of our favorite restaurants in Würzburg. The people of Baden who come from the Schnecketal 🐌 felt very comfortable and would love to come back!

Absolut empfehlenswert. Die Bierprobe sehr empfehlenswert. Der Chef kam persönlich zu uns an den Tisch und war von Anfang an sympathisch. Eine Kneipe mit leckerem Essen und einem urigen Ambiente. Wir waren bestimmt nicht das letzte Mal da.

Incredible. The food is top-notch, 5-star dishes. The hosts are wonderful, the beer selection is amazing. What a gorgeous little gem. It's not easy to find, but it is so worth the effort.

To be honest, there is no better economy in Würzburg. The beer selection is outstanding and the selection and quality of the food can look the traditional Franconian in the eye without any deviation! Would like more of it. But it will be difficult ;)

One of the last authentic Franconian small inns. The atmosphere coupled with the beer selection is hard to describe.

Ein Ort, an dem man in Ruhe seinen Schoppen und das leckere Essen genießen, über Gott und die Welt philosophieren oder schweigend vor sich hinsinnieren kann. Wir kommen immer gerne, wenn wir aus der kahlgründer oder schwäbischen Ferne nach Würzburg schweifen.

If you are looking for a genuine experience with great food and wine in a friendly, comfortable, down-to-earth atmosphere then this is a great choice. We loved our meals and appreciated the friendliness of all who worked there. A little off the beaten path, the restaurant was filled with locals, which is nearly always a good sign. And we were not disappointed in spite of our high expectations!

Wir waren zur Weihnachtsfeier im Sophienbäck und es war ein sehr schöner Abend. Der Anfang war etwas holprig, nachdem die Kommunikation mit Chef über die Essensauswahl im Vorfeld schwierig war. Aber das sehr leckere Essen, die Getränke und das gemütliche Ambiente machten den Abend zu einer perfekten Weihnachtsfeier. Hier noch Details zum Essen: - die Winzersuppe mit intensivem Weingeschmack, sehr gut - die Entenkeule sehr zart mit einer leckeren Füllung - verschiedene Silvaner präsentiert in liebevoll gemachter Karte - Schäufele mit perfekter Kruste Ich kann den Sophienbäck nur empfehlen.
