Sofitel Munich Bayerpost in München

Access to our room was delayed but the hotel team was very thoughtful in providing extra touches after we received our room keys. The location is great - we walked everywhere and the central station is next door. The room is spacious.

I recently stayed at what is supposedly a luxurious hotel, but it was far from it. Firstly, the complimentary water was not sealed and labeled "freshly from the tap," which was concerning. The snack menu was available only from 11:30 PM to 7 AM, with undesirable options that no one would want to eat late at night. Room service had the same overpriced, limited selections as the restaurant, which was ridiculous. The air conditioning sounded like a Mack truck. The chair in the room creaked every time I sat down. The furniture and floor were scuffed and marked, and the toilet kept running water since the half flush didn’t work properly. Additionally, the electric bidet made a humming noise that was quite distracting. Concierge seemed to flee the scene without fully explaining abything about the room or hotel facilities. Very unwelcoming. This whole experience was very disappointing, and I cannot recommend this hotel based on the poor service and amenities provided.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost, and I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to the Duty Manager,Mr Umut Mahmoud, for going above and beyond to ensure our stay was truly exceptional. I had a problem while checking in and I sent an email to solve the issue . From the moment he received the email, he made us feel incredibly welcome and was always available to assist with any questions or requests we had. He handled everything with such professionalism, warmth, and genuine care—it really made a difference. Thanks to Umut Mahmoud , our experience was smooth, enjoyable, and memorable. Thank you once again for making our stay so special!

We only stayed here one night at the start of our trip and chose this location because of the proximity to the train station. But the hotel was lovely and the staff was extremely helpful. Would definitely stay here for a longer amount of time on a future trip.

Room 369 – Overall a decent hotel. Since there was a trade fair in Munich, hotel prices were disproportionately high, so I won’t judge based on price vs. quality, but rather compare it to my recent hotel stays. First impression was good, with a nice touch of complimentary macarons and bottled water. However, turndown service was only provided one of the two nights. Looking more closely, the room showed signs of wear and was not particularly well cleaned. It was also far too dark. The soap dispenser in the shower didn’t work, used coffee cups were not replaced during cleaning, and the mattress topper seemed too short for the bed. Friendly staff at the bar and reception, but no one welcomed us at the door or offered to bring our luggage to the room. Conclusion: I’m sure there are better hotels in Munich within the same price range.

Rated as a 5-star hotel, but certainly does not feel like it. On check in the reception was very warm and helpful. The room, however, was well worn and poorly designed (one sliding door shared between shower and toilet, making it impossible for both areas to be closed off at the same time). The location is very convenient to the main train station; however, that means there are no good views and lots of questionable characters in the area immediately surrounding the hotel. We booked through AMEX Travel and they did not honor our free breakfast on the last day with the manager unwilling to budge, even when provided with the receipt from AMEX. I will never stay here again and would not recommend it to others.

After enjoying an all-around outstanding stay at the Sofitel in Rome last year – particularly due to the first-class service, the excellent location, the aesthetic design of the hotel, and the stylish breakfast room – we traveled to Munich with correspondingly high expectations. Unfortunately, these expectations were not met at the accommodation there. While the rooms are tastefully and high-quality furnished, the service leaves much to be desired: overall, it seems mediocre, unattentive, and rather superficial. The breakfast experience was particularly disappointing – it gives the impression of a mass processing operation. The staff primarily focuses on quickly assigning seating rather than approaching guests with personal attention and warm hospitality. In addition, there is an unpleasant background noise in the breakfast area, reminiscent of a busy train station – presumably due to the hotel's central location. Overall, our stay left a sobering impression. For this reason, we will refrain from visiting this hotel again in the future.

My family and I stayed at the Sofitel Munich for our family vacation and it was one of the best hotels we have stayed in in a long time. The hotel was beautiful, clean, and had a very nice and professional staff. We had the privilege to meet and get to know the hotel manager named Umut. He was amazing! He was very friendly, helpful and my college boys really enjoyed chatting with him. Umut and the entire hotel staff made sure our stay was perfect and that we were happy. We all agreed that when we visit Munich again, we will definitely stay at the Sofitel Munich Hotel. It was great! Umut is the best hotel manager we have ever met and enjoyed getting to know him. 😊

I had a small issue with the room upon checking in and I was contacted by the duty manager Mahmoud who made sure that the issue was resolved and his genuine hospitality and care to make our stay unforgettable was really the highlight of our stay. Mahmoud took it upon himself to personally help us which I really appreciate and I am grateful to have met Mahmoud and will look forward to our next stay! The location of the hotel is right next to the central station which is very convenient. The room is very spacious and the bed is very comfortable. The amenities are very refreshing as well!

My room was super clean, and the bed was also super comfortable. I received a bath treatment from housekeeping with bath salts, a rubber duck, chocolate, and Diptyque products. The spa is not to be underestimated; even if it may not be impressive in terms of size, it scores even higher in terms of ambiance and service. We were greeted politely and immediately felt at home. In the brasserie, not only was the food fantastic, but the service was also attentive and courteous. Whether it was food or drinks, I received professional advice at all times. My evening was rounded off in the bar with excellent advice; after a brief chat with the bartender, he served my companion and me just the right cocktail for the evening. Our stay came to a perfect end with breakfast. With a large selection at the buffet and all kinds of à la carte dishes, I was completely satisfied. Check-in and check-out went smoothly, and we were in our room very quickly, despite our early arrival.

Nice hotel right next to the train station. The rooms are nice and we didn't notice any construction work in the surrounding area. What really bothered us was the breakfast buffet. That was clearly not enough for a German 5 star hotel. No comparison with the Andaz in Munich, for example. The service was also just “okay”, but that could also be because the hotel was almost completely booked.

Very nice hotel with a nice spa area. Only the location at the main station is not so nice in the evening, but you already know that ☺️ Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Eating in the restaurant is also highly recommended.

We stayed one week in this hotel and we really enjoyed it all special thanks to hotel manager Mr. Umut. He assisted us personally during our stay and made sure everything was brilliant. He also constantly helped us with restaurant bookings and used his contacts to get even reservations where was normally not available. Room service however needs to be improved. Many times what we ordered took long time which we had to ask Mr. Umut for his assistance. He also assisted us with the doctor as we needed. He did follow up and personally arranged all our needs. We would like to thank him for everything.

Sofitel Munich Bayerpost is a stylish and luxurious hotel with a great mix of modern design and historic charm. The location next to the central station is convenient, though the area outside can be busy. Pros: - Elegant design and comfortable, well-equipped rooms - Excellent bar with great drinks and ambiance - Good parking option for those traveling by car - Professional service and high-end amenities Cons: - Expensive (rooms, parking, and drinks) - The surrounding area isn’t the most charming - Service can be slow during busy hours Final Verdict: A high-quality hotel with a premium feel. Pricey but worth it. Would stay again.

This is the most amazing hotel I've ever stayed at in Europe! The breakfast is amazing, the service is awesome, and the rooms are very comfortable. Location is also very convenient - being next to the train station - (but there's no noise or issues related to that)

A dream stay at the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost! As soon as you enter the hotel you can feel the special atmosphere: stylish furnishings, a luxurious ambience and a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The rooms are beautiful, modern and extremely comfortable - you immediately feel at home here. We were particularly impressed by the cool pool. The food was also first class - an excellent selection of dishes! Special praise goes to the entire team. Our favorite place in Munich to stay. Right outside the entrance at the Munich Bayerpost central station making access everywhere easy. Rooms have started to show a little wear, though still very nice. First time we stayed where the staff wasn’t at their best… wait at the bellman and the front desk. May have just been off-season staffing. Didn’t take great photos - just posted one from our front during our last trip for Oktoberfest. ( I’ll upload more later) Overall would stay again… but as it’s lost a bit of luster, I’ll be comparing other options next time. ( as the price is always among the highest )

Hotel close to main station and also in heart of center with good staff and providing a good foods. But I was disappointed because I asked for a calm room without noise then I got one in 7 floor with noise of AC or lift but was all night so at the end without sleeping. Knowing also that I raised a request for an upgrade to duplex suites even to add some extra ( request number 479692302) but wasn’t then got only simple room. It will be good to keep attention to all information while hosting guests getting a better satisfaction but for me I will not back there.

I got to Munich very early with the thought of just dropping off my luggage. Farhia was great. She was able to go ahead and check me in. Also, she was able to upgrade me with my Chase booking. Very pleased!

We've been coming here for years when passing through the Hauptbahnhof, while the hotel remains convenient we have a worse experience every time; the mildew in the shower was really a new low! This used to be a special hotel but now it's like a Hilton in Milwaukee.

First of all, I would like to give it 6 or 7 stars. Unfortunately, my stay started off a bit bumpy, but after very good communication at the hotel, it became the best hotel stay of my life. I was upgraded to the Oyster Suite, the Magnificent Apartment, for one night. The international team at the Sofitel Bayerpost gave me a special feeling, a V.I.P. to be a guest. I'm just a person who likes to treat myself to something within my means. From the staff, I would particularly like to thank the lady from the spa reception (she was on duty on Friday afternoon), the lady from the breakfast reception (Thank you for remembering my name.) etc. This “service” made my stay a very special experience. And don't forget the very competent lady at reception with roots in Mongolia. There isn't a single person I can say anything bad about. The breakfast also made my stay a special moment. For me, luxury is not just bling and champagne, but also a special appreciation. I had tears of joy in my eyes. Thank you for THE perfect stay at the Sofitel Bayerpost! See you soon!

A beautiful place and a unique experience, and I consider it the best hotel I've stayed in. What made the experience different to another level was Mr. Mahmoud who was hospitable and welcoming. I felt like I was in my own home but with a more luxurious experience.

The Sofitel Munich entrance and lobby are impressive but not much more past that. The rooms are nice but lighting is sub-par. the furnishings are cheap and sparce. Bathroom is very odd with a sliding mirror that opens bathroom to the bed area. Shower and water are very hot and rainshower feels great, but with no shower curtain or door, the floor gets wet easily.

Great hotel and a building with history, stayed in duplex top floor rooms, very convenient with families, great service, great staff, very good breakfast, location is good (although there is a big train statin development nearby creates some inconvenience for reaching to hotel). Very thoughtful gestures for kids, stayed 3 days in total and kids received lots of gifts from hotel, added pics for some of it, when you make kids happy, you make families, happy, also forgot sunglasses at the hotel and they found and kept it until we get it, overall great experience, thanks

We had a very nice time at the hotel. The manager, Mr. Umut Ofkeli, provided us with great service, very nice, professional and very competent.

Stayed there only one night and chose the hotel for it’s proximity to the train station due to an early departure. The room was functional but nothing exceptional. The service was adequate (ie no problems/issues or conflicts to report) but not particularly welcoming. The whole lobby/common areas are a bit over the top. Feels like the hotel is trying to attract locals to their bar and restaurants. Overall an ok experience but I’d stay elsewhere if I was planning on visiting Munich rather than being in transit.

The hotel itself is beautiful, the breakfast was great and the people working here are very friendly. I was a bit disappointed by my room, the trash can in the bathroom was not empty, there was still food from the previous guest in the fridge and the coffee machine did not work.

The hotel is extremely conveniently located next to the Munich Hbf, within walking distance of international trains. Even for me, with luggage and ski, it took 5 minutes from a train to the hotel lobby. The Hbf is also a convenient intersection of most U-Bahn, S-Bahn, and regional trains so you can use the public transport everywhere. The hotel has a distinctive design, a high ceiling, and nicely furnished rooms. One note here - the duplex suites have amazing views of the trains without hearing them ;) A nice addition was to find the small fitness set (weights and mat) in the room. I also found it useful that lifts in a building read the room number from your card and take you there without pushing any buttons. On the improvement part, the hotel definitely needs to work on the processes: it took the concierge two hours to deliver my luggage upstairs, and for breakfast, I had to wait in line first to get a table and then at the egg station. No, complaints about the food quality - all was delicious! Also, you have the waiters busy offering orange juice to the clients while the coffee machines are self-service. That is a strange choice for me. I would rather have barista-made coffee than someone bring orange juice for me.

Rooms are outdated. Reception was fine but also not as friendly as I'm used to with Sofitel Hotels. Prices in bar & food are staggering, even against expensive Accor hotels like e.g. Sofitel Dubai the Palm or The Grand Amsterdam. And for that, the 5 stars to me are shaky at best. Whilst checking the employee was to stubborn to speak another word than German, so conversationally it was already difficult. Ow, and at 23:30h there was loud music drilling through the hotel. All-in-all not really worth a return stay.

You have to wait in line for breakfast for 30 minutes, and when you enter there is nothing left to eat. (Imagine rushing to the airport like we did.) Also, housekeeping enters the room, sees the dark in the room and slams the door as loudly as possible (free wake-up call 😊). Only good thing is the room, bed is great.

Location is fantastic, welcome and departure experience was friendly, professional and simple. The bed in our room though felt like it had a mountain in the middle and well used. It is time for some new beds in this hotel.

Good: Convenient location next to Munich Hbf / central station, comfortable pillows Bad: Their “King bed” are two twin mattresses pushed together. For a cheaper hotel or if traveling solo, fine, but I want a King or Queen mattress from Sofitel if I book a King bed and am traveling with my spouse. Unpleasant smell coming from drain of shower. Not a big deal if the door was normal, but a sliding door that doesn’t seal properly with a hole in it for a handle that is connected to both the shower and toilet misses the mark.

A very nice hotel. First class service. Rooms tastefully decorated. The dinner was very good, but the breakfast was also impressive. The wellness area is very successful, but the water in the pool is far too cold for the winter. (Thanks Robert ;-))

Hello dear team, I am very impressed with the Sofitel Munich. Very friendly reception. Hotel restaurant very tasty, since I love eating morels for a long time, it was proven to me that in a hotel they can be cooked exactly to the point, just top. Cafeteria very nice seating. the room was extremely good, especially the bathroom. The only thing I didn't like was the journey, but I think that's normal if you have a hotel in the city. Still very convenient. Gladly again in March and April 25th at the latest.

Cleanest hotel in Germany we stayed in and no air conditioning issues when temperature was above 85 degrees. The location is conveniently located next to central station that connects to other European cities. Our room is nice and modern. The window has a view to the atrium. Bathroom is a bit awkward with a divider that can open to the room but not an issue for us. The hotel having a Spa was a nice touch overall. Steam and suana rooms are co-ed including the showering area, but I think that is how most hotel spas operate in Germany or Europe. The suana room is small but appear to be clean for the most part. There was a half naked male lurking around multiple times during my use but whatever. Unfortunately, the steamed room has an odor like urine so I left after less than 5 seconds. Gross. I booked a massage and the music was supplied through my masseuse's phone lol. It was all fine until the youtube commercial ads popup a couple of times during the relaxation moments. The massage was good, not the best not the worst. Just was a bit weird with the music from a mobile phone and the ads. Breakfast is Ok. I would dodge unless opting for the sake of pure convenience. Handfull of juice options and an espresso machine for making various coffee drinks. A bit pricey for the quality and amount of selections offered. Bakery items get arranged by staffs with their bare hands, another German/European thing I guess.

Service is bad and slow esp room. Luggage delivery and pick up is very slow. Wanna charge even for a set of cutleries to room 5 euros. Construction was noisy next door. Phone calls were slow to answer and few occasions they don't even pick up.

The Sofitel is a very nice, modern hotel right next to the main train station. Guests from all over the world stay here. The service is exemplary in all areas. We had a duplex suite with a view of the main train station.

Everything was perfect and beautiful. The experience on my birthday and at breakfast was incredible. The care and attention I was treated with was indescribable. Thank you very much!

Stayed 3 nights for a conference. V comfortable bedroom although not huge. The area is v convenient but, like any area near a major train station, keep your wits about you when walking around after dark.

Breakfast and dinner are great - a lot of options and everything is fresh and tasty. But the best thing about the hotel is it’s manager on duty: Umut Ofkeli. Elegant hotel located walking distance to the train station. The rooms were modern and very clean. The staff was extremely professional and accommodating. The spa was under construction during our visit but we were still able to schedule massages. Ask for Katarina or Mae. They are amazing. The hotel has two restaurants and a bar. All three were excellent. The hotel is also walking distance to many great locations.

It was a wonderful and relaxing stay. What is particularly worth emphasizing is this Staff who shine with their high level of attentiveness and friendliness. I enjoyed an excellent reception from Mr. Daniel Briesacher, who sweetened my birthday the next day with a gift. The checkout with Mr. Alex Sleath was extremely pleasant and characterized by attentiveness and friendliness. I would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing and pleasant stay in Munich.

I wish many travel agency like mine to use this hotel, some of big chain hotels to send their staff and stay for a night so they learn something about hospitality. The hotel is actually the most beautiful in Munich The only negative is that there is only 1 socket on the double bed.

Very good location despite the works and the somewhat worrying neighborhood Upon my arrival I was placed in a very comfortable room on the top floor, no noise, very comfortable bed, hot water from the shower almost immediately. The hotel bar is very well stocked and the bartender is very friendly. The staff were wonderful and the service was exceptional, in the lead up to and throughout our stay. Travelling as a family of three adults, we were thrilled to be upgraded to a bigger room which was spacious and luxurious. After a very long flight, arriving late at night, we were made to feel very welcome and appreciated all comforts and amenities of the room for the best night’s sleep. The rain shower is amazing! ..and the Diptique products are a treat! The buffet breakfast had a large hot and cold selection. The bar menu was perfect for a quick meal and pre-theatre drink. The location is excellent, with Marienplatz and sights within walking distance or a short train ride away. Being right next to the main train station is very convenient for local trains, as well as connections to other cities. We could not have had a better start to our a European holiday! If you want to go all out for a luxury experience, this is the place to stay in Munich!

Our family stayed at Sofitel while on vacation in Munich. Perfect location downtown right next to the main train station. Breakfast is the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had—phenomenal service, quality, and variety. Jeff is a fantastic manager of the breakfast service and is very friendly. The bar is very nice and quite classy. The room itself had all that you could ask for. Overall, incredible experience start to finish. Highly recommend.

Here is what I already submitted when prompted as I joined the WIFI, while being a guest in the hotel, which I never received a response to.... "The shampoo is empty in the shower. The shower gel nozzle doesn’t pump in the shower. Was “upgraded” to a room with a bathtub but have to pay for basic bath salts to use it (you could really over deliver here for very little investment). There was a confusion at check in about my Amex Platinum benefits. I book all my travel this way and this was the first time my benefits weren’t honored because I booked one night and not two. The front desk agent did her best to find out why and literally has her supervisor give her very rude instructions right in front of us without acknowledging us. Highly recommend increasing the training of your front desk staff especially if you want to keep the persona of luxury. We did get two drink vouchers (breakfast was denied even though it’s a buffet and costs probably the same as 2x $29 drinks. So in that regard I do want to acknowledge that our agent tried to rectify the issue but was also very aware of her restrictions. It’s not advertised that your parking garage is closed but your valet team took ownership and solved the problem for us. Even charging our Tesla! Very happy about that. Your bartenders were great. We even returned with a large party and closed it down. As a seasoned traveler and being in the hotel industry myself since 2006, I see so many opportunities that would really increase your guest satisfaction scores. I’ve been eyeing this hotel for years now so I’m happy I tried it and I’m disappointed by what I received. I’m off to the Rosewood today and look forward to trying another product. Ps. Slept with the window open as the AC didn’t work and sweated majority of the night. The pillows and mattress are awful. Unfortunately because of them, I have a pinch nerve to take care of now. I would not be keen to return which is so disappointing as you have such a great product. Just seems attention to detail is missing and your customer is noticing. "
