Le Refuge in München

Ich habe hier mit alten Freunden wunderbar gegessen. Tolle Auswahl, freundliches Personal, lebhafte Atmosphäre.

Guter Franzose. Komme gerne hierher um gut französisch zu essen. Die Qualität ist bis jetzt immer Tip top gewesen. 👍

Ich habe schon viele französische Restaurants in München ausprobiert, und die meisten waren sehr gut. Le Refuge hat es aber nun an die Spitze meiner Liste geschafft und ist mein neues Lieblingsrestaurant. Wir bestellten Lammkoteletts, Garnelen und Austern. Das absolute Highlight waren die Lammkoteletts – sie waren perfekt zubereitet und unglaublich lecker. Auch die Garnelen, die mit vielen köstlichen Beilagen serviert wurden, haben uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Die Austern waren superfrisch und hatten ein leichtes, süßliches Aroma, das mir persönlich sehr gut gefiel. Besonders gut gefiel uns auch die schlichte, saubere Atmosphäre. Im Vergleich zu anderen französischen Restaurants in München ist es eher schlicht, aber wir waren ja schließlich wegen des Essens da, nicht wegen der Einrichtung. Außerdem sitzt man an den Nachbartischen in ausreichendem Abstand, sodass man sich ungestört unterhalten kann, ohne befürchten zu müssen, dass die Gäste am Nachbartisch alles mithören. Der Service war ebenfalls sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert, und wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder – aber es ist sehr schwierig, einen Parkplatz zu finden, daher empfiehlt sich die Anreise mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln!

Es dauerte erstaunlich lange, bis der Kellner endlich Wasser brachte, obwohl wir ihn zweimal gerufen hatten. Das Essen ließ dann gefühlt ewig auf sich warten. Als es endlich kam, waren sowohl das Lamm als auch die Kartoffeln versalzen. Während des gesamten Essens fragte niemand nach, ob alles in Ordnung sei – vielleicht sollten wir in Ruhe über unsere Wahl nachdenken. Nachdem wir fertig waren, wurden die Teller wortlos abgeräumt. Keine Fragen, kein Feedback und schon gar kein Angebot für ein Dessert. Wir warteten noch etwas, ob vielleicht jemand zurückkäme. Vergeblich. Schließlich baten wir um die Rechnung, obwohl wir durchaus ein Dessert bestellt hätten – wenn es uns angeboten worden wäre.

Sehr anständige französische Küche in einer schönen Gegend. Der Service war absolut ok, nur das Ambiente ist ausbaufähig: Unbequeme, extrem eng gestellte Holzstühle und -bänke. Entspannung kann hier leider nicht aufkommen.

Our visit to Le Refuge on Christmas Day was unfortunately a huge disappointment! The food was presented without any care and lacked any finesse. The grumpy owner took our order wordlessly, with an unfriendly look, and then even made a mistake, so that one dish was missing from our main course, which we only noticed when it was served. It arrived considerably late and, accordingly, hastily prepared. Meanwhile, the owner spent the entire evening at length with a few obvious regulars. The earnest friendliness of our waiter couldn't disguise the feeling that we weren't really welcome in this establishment. When an owner doesn't even bid his guests farewell with a friendly "Merci," let alone a "Joyeux Noël," in his sparsely populated restaurant (on Christmas Day!), but only manages a short and reluctant "Au Revoir" before immediately turning his attention back to his regulars, then he truly deserves a correspondingly low rating. We certainly won't be returning to such a poorly run establishment with its exorbitant prices (for what, exactly?). There are far too many better and, above all, friendlier alternatives in our neighborhood!

Wir waren am Samstag im Le Refuge in München essen, nicht zum ersten Mal und sicher auch nicht zum letzten Mal. Auch dieses Mal hatten wir einen wunderbaren Abend. Das Essen war hervorragend, fein abgestimmt und auf konstant hohem Niveau. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die sehr gute Weinauswahl, die das Menü perfekt ergänzt. Wir haben die französische Küche in vollen Zügen genossen und können das Le Refuge uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Ein Lokal, in dem man sich rundum wohlfühlt und gerne wiederkommt.

Ein authentisches Restaurant gepflegt aber trotzdem gemütlich eingerichtet. Der Dekor ist zurückhaltend, was den Eindruck macht, dass es hier um das Essen geht nicht um die Einrichtung. Die Tageskarte ist sehr umfangreich. Die Vorspeisen sind gut portioniert und absolut ausreichend bei keinem großen Hunger. Die Moules au Vin waren seht gut, Baguette mit Ziegenkäse und Salat ebenfalls. Die Aumoniere mit noch sehr bissfestem Kürbis war nicht unser Fall. Das Lammcarré war medium mit würziger jus, Gratin dauphine und Gemüse. Wirklich leckeres Gericht mit ausreichend Beilagen! Das Sorbet au Citron war ausgezeichnet. Weinkarte umfangreich wie zu erwarten. Wie in Frankreich gibt es eine carafe d‘eau wenn man danach frägt! Alles in allem sehr gut! Gleiche Preise wie sonst in München dafür aber abwechslungsreiche Karte und gutes Essen!

Really good place, nice atmosphere, nice stuff, great wine, great starters. How ever the main dishes were a bit boring. The main issue was that if you are in a high quality expensive French restaurant, you expect a good STEAK how ever it was very simple and boring.

A lovely French restaurant in the heart of Schwabing. We sat outside in the beautiful weather, with a small menu complemented by the handwritten menu on the wall. Nice, unusual dishes. As a Francophile, I immediately tucked into the sour cherry boudin nour tartin, which had a very good, spicy, sour note. The roast beef with vegetables was impeccable. We'll be back.

The wine list is outstanding and perfectly rounds off the culinary experience. The staff deserves special mention: warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about their work. The food, unfortunately, wasn't very exciting. The artichoke was too hard, the boulabaise lacked flavor, and the fish was okay. Part of the dessert was made of shortcrust pastry, which in this case was a really hard biscuit. The service was a mixture of whiny and jovial. The reaction to the extremely hard shortcrust pastry was... well, I don't know what the kitchen was doing there. The service staff spoke to each other in French and complained loudly inside about the guests' poor tipping habits. We understood, unfortunately. All in all, too expensive, simply not well cooked, and also somewhat unloving. It's a shame, but this was our last visit.

Good idea, poor execution – and unfriendly service Our visit to La Refuge was unfortunately disappointing. The two oysters as a starter were good, but the octopus salad consisted mostly of peppers – the octopus had no flavor at all. The main course, king prawns, was okay, but the plate was poorly presented and everything looked rather smashed together. What left a lasting bad impression, however, was the service: When my companion politely asked if we could have an espresso with a scoop of vanilla ice cream – both items from the dessert menu – we were rudely advised to go to the Italian restaurant instead. Even a charming, calm reply didn't help – the reaction remained dismissive. It's a shame, because the ambiance and concept had potential. However, this was my first and last visit. I honestly described what happened. The vanilla ice cream was on the daily special! – the espresso, too – and the phrase "Why don't you go to the Italian restaurant?" was uttered. I wasn't alone there. It is a pity that honest criticism is met with insinuations.

Der Besuch im La Refuge war leider enttäuschend. Die zwei Austern als Vorspeise waren gut, der Octopus-Salat bestand jedoch überwiegend aus Paprika – vom Octopus war geschmacklich nichts zu merken. Die Hauptspeise, Königsgarnelen, war okay, allerdings war der Teller lieblos angerichtet und alles eher zusammengematscht. Was jedoch den bleibend schlechten Eindruck hinterlassen hat, war der Service: Als meine Begleitung höflich fragte, ob man einen Espresso mit einer Kugel Vanilleeis bekommen könne – beides Bestandteile aus der Dessertkarte – wurde uns unfreundlich geraten, doch besser zum Italiener zu gehen. Selbst eine charmante, ruhige Erwiderung half nichts – die Reaktion blieb abwertend. Schade, denn Ambiente und Konzept hätten Potenzial. Für mich war das jedoch der erste und letzte Besuch.

The service is outstanding: attentive, warm, and professional. You feel welcome and well-cared for from the very first moment. Hospitality is truly lived here! The absolute highlight, however, was the food: every course was a delight. Fresh ingredients, creative compositions, and a perfect blend of flavors – you can taste the passion and skill of the chef in every bite. I will definitely be back and can recommend this place to anyone who appreciates good food, excellent service, and an atmospheric ambiance.

As a huge fan of all French gastronomic styles, I'm always excited to discover a fine, new restaurant. In the case of Guy Ody, the charming Provençal-born Bavarian, it's embarrassingly only taken more than a decade, as this unpretentious haven of French hospitality has been around for that long. After the Kir variations (Breton/mûres) to start, I could hardly wait for the courses I ordered (Soupe à l'oignon, Scampi Provençal, Gâteau aux graines de pavot & abricots), as the tempting aromas wafted from all directions – and the dishes didn't disappoint in the slightest. Furthermore, the friendly team's wine recommendations paired perfectly with all the delicacies, even if they lacked a real wow factor. The next visit (bouillabaisse is only available on Fridays) is, of course, already noted in my calendar. Merci encore une fois pour la soirée détendue! 🥂

I recently dined at this restaurant and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience - both in terms of taste and health. I was already suspicious about the starter (duck liver mousse) because it was still frozen inside. That should have been a warning sign. The quality of the remaining dishes was also unconvincing - carelessly prepared and the taste was rather mediocre. Unfortunately, the visit ended for me with a serious gastrointestinal infection the next day. Of course I can't provide any medical proof that it came directly from food, but the temporal connection is more than striking. I expect not only taste from a restaurant, but also, above all, hygienic standards - neither of which were met here. Definitely the last visit for me.

Le Refuge - real French cuisine in Munich First of all, the service: the work here is quick, with class and heart. If the guests allow it, the service staff are also there to have fun. But without being pushy but always professional and well trained. The food is then truly French. Everything from chicken confit to perch fillet was prepared to perfection. There are no sensational creations here, but rather a coming together of good ingredients and flawless craftsmanship in the kitchen. The ambience is classic with wooden tables and high ceilings. The audience is mixed and pleasant. If you want to enjoy French food, this is the place for you!

Everything – the starters, the main courses and the desserts – was exquisite! Of particular note was the freshness of the ingredients, and no less important, the service was wonderful. Small restaurant with a small menu (which is good 😁) and freshly prepared food. Which is good, but made us a little uneasy. We just wanted to have a quick bite to eat before we left. But the chef can't help it. The restaurant was very busy and the food was good and tasty.

Four of us dined at Le Refuge, and we were all thrilled! The service and the maitre d' were very attentive, professional, and polite. The starters (octopus salad, snails, and tarte flambée) were beautifully presented and delicious. The main courses (sea bass and braised beef cheeks) were also cooked to perfection and particularly delicious! The beef cheeks were a first in terms of quality—they were exceptionally good! The recommended white wine was also a hit. All in all, we can absolutely recommend Le Refuge as a gem of taste in Munich's culinary landscape! We'll be back!

Das Le Refuge-Team hat uns sehr zuvorkommend behandelt. Uns wurde unsere Reservierte Tisch gezeigt und es wurde uns auch signalisiert, wenn uns der Platz nicht zusagt würde es auch einen anderen Platz für uns geben. Alle waren sehr gut drauf und wir wurden wie Stammgäste behandelt, obwohl wir das erste Mal dort waren. Die Küche ist absolut authentisch, da so in der Provence gekocht wird, mit viel Kräutern die dort in den Gräben wachsen, ohne viel Schnicke-Schnacki. Wir hatten wirklich das Gefühl in einem Restaurant auf dem Lande in der Provence zu sein. Zum Essen hatten wir einen Top-Wein, einen Weißwein im Barrique ausgebaut, wir wussten vorher nicht, dass diese Ausbaumethode auch bei Weißweinen angewendet wird. Ja, der Abend hatte seinen Preis, aber es war gut angelegtes Geld.

Im Vergleich zu einem Besuch im letzten Jahr war diesmal die Enttäuschung groß: Zwei Gerichte mit Garnelen bzw. Loup de Mer schwammen in einer eher geschmacksneutralen Soße, das Gemüse ( speziell die Kartoffeln)war zu knackig, wenig pfiffig gewürzt und lieblos angerichtet. Das Steak war zwar von bester Qualität, aber wenig attraktiv arrangiert. ( 37 €!) Beim Tatar fehlte das obligatorische Spiegelei. Dazu kamen die in München üblichen exorbitanten Weinpreise. Kleinkariert auch die Berechnung eines kleinen Stücks Butter mit 50 Cent plus vier Scheiben Baguette t zu 2,50€. Fazit: Man ißt nicht schlecht, aber das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht mehr.

Das Essen schmeckt ausgezeichnet. Der Service war nicht gut, wir haben eine Stunde auf den Hauptgang gewartet, da der Kellner vergessen hatte, ihn in der Küche zur Vorbereitung anzumelden. Allerdings ging dann als Wiedergutmachung das Dessert auf Kosten des Hauses.

The restaurant also offers everything you could wish for on such an evening. Unusual aperitifs, good wines, and excellent dishes – from starters to desserts. We'd be happy to return and highly recommend a visit to anyone.

My second time at refuge, and it won’t be last! First of all, the service is very good , you feel welcome from the start and all waiters were very attentive to our requests. The food was very well prepared, in particular we took a tomahawk which was off menu and was really cooked outstanding with some nice vegetables on the side (fresh and not frozen). Generally very good quality of ingredients and also fair pricing for Munich.

Im le Refuge war ich nicht zum ersten Mal, allerdings ist der letzte Besuch sehr lange her und war vermutlich dem Bouillabaisse-Tag geschuldet. Ich glaube, dieser Abend wird auch meine letzte Einkehr dort gewesen sein. Das Essen selbst war sogar recht erfreulich, aber Atmosphäre und Service stimmten überhaupt nicht. Wir haben uns schlichtweg nicht wohlgefühlt. Drei Männer waren in unserem Bereich im service, die alle auf eine gewiss ruppige Weise seltsam und ungastlich daherkamen und einen darüberhinaus noch für blöd verkaufen wollten. Als ich eingangs fragte, was für einen Champagner sie ausschenken, bekam ich zur Antwort, der sei Demeter-zertifiziert (was auch als einiziger Hinweis in der Karte stand). Ich entgegnete, mich würde eher interessieren, wie das Weingut heißt oder aus welcher Region der Champagne er stammt - da fängt der Mann an, mir zu erklären, was Demeter ist und als ich ihm bedeute, dass ich darüber durchaus im Bilde bin, kommt nur noch: ich solle ihn trinken, er sei wirklich gut. Aha. Schließlich holte er dann doch eine Flasche zur Ansicht, eine demi, auf deren dekorativem Etikett ebenfalls keine Angaben standen...da war mir schon klar, dass ich den Champagner nicht trinken würde, fragte aber dennoch nach, ob sie aus der demi ausschenken? Sie hätten verschiedene Größen, bekam ich zur Antwort. Ich habe mir dann gespart, eine spezifizierende Frage zu "Austern aus der Normandie" von der Tageskarte zu stellen. Kann doch dem Gast egal sein, was er da zu sich nimmt. Das Essen selbst war dann aber gut&schmackhaft; Nachtisch wurde uns mit dieser merkwürdig dominanten ungeduldigen Attitüde ein wenig aufgedrängelt (subjektiv empfunden) und als ich mich über das Vanille-Eis statt der üblichen Crème fraiche zur tarte tatin wunderte, kam auch wieder nur so ein "von oben herab"-Spruch, der bedeutete: friss, zahl', go home. Nee, so macht es keinen Spaß.

Awful service (we have been waiting for 30+ minutes for a waiter. Sure we were hungry and angry, and the waiter said "If you are so angry, you can go out". Beautiful answer. Food was average. Then, in the end they refused to get card payment at the table and I must went to payment machine. 🤦‍♂️4.7 rating? Guys, you are probably joking. 2+ out of 5.

We had a great evening in a really nice and cozy atmosphere. lots of candles, harmonious lighting and the service was top. Simply a very likeable, friendly and funny person who really rounded off the atmosphere. The food was also very good. Not the cheapest store, but quality has its price. Overall, we were very satisfied and would love to come back!

We didn't have a reservation. We came before opening and they managed to find us a table - even though they had everything reserved outside on the terrace. Inside they also have a large area for guests with tables, but in the summer the terrace is lovely and romantic to sit on. The food was delicious and we really don't have any complaints, but it didn't inspire us to come back again. The waiter who served us deserves 10 🌟 because he was extremely nice, communicative, helpful and had good recommendations!

Meine Frau ich gehen gerne französisch essen. In einem Taste France Magazin haben wir von "Guy Ody und sein sein Le Refuge : Provence in München" gelesen und gleich reserviert...Ein kulinarisches Erlebnis auf höchstem Niveau! Die Küche von Le Refuge ,die wir am letzten Freitag Abend genießen konnten, ist einfach herausragend. Jeder Gang war ein Meisterwerk, mit sorgfältig ausgewählten Zutaten und perfekter Zubereitung. Die Aromen harmonierten wunderbar miteinander, und die Präsentation der Gerichte war ein Augenschmaus. Danke! Der Service war ebenso beeindruckend. Das Personal, Claire, Julien und Franca, war äußerst aufmerksam, freundlich und zuvorkommend, ohne dabei aufdringlich zu wirken. Jeder Wunsch wurde uns von den Lippen abgelesen, und die Weinempfehlungen passten perfekt zu den Gerichten. Danke Guy, Dein Refuge ist "ein Zufluchtsort mit Seel"! Insgesamt ein unvergesslicher Abend, der uns noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben wird. Vielen Dank an das gesamte Team für dieses außergewöhnliche Erlebnis. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Un super restaurant, tout simplement. Les responsables Guy et Daphné sont très avenants et passionnés, cela se ressent de suite. Un sens du service comme l’on n’en voit plus beaucoup, une belle sélection de vins et des plats faits avec amour. Un must à Munich pour ceux qui recherchent de la bonne cuisine provençale. J’espère revenir pour la bouillabaisse du vendredi!

This was our second time here, and unlike what happens so often, it was even nicer. The food was outstanding, both in terms of the quality of the ingredients, the preparation, the appearance and also the large, generous portions! We had the onion soup and the artichoke hearts as an entrée, then the scampi or entrecôte. The service was always super pleasant, quick, humorous and at the same time unobtrusive, great! The ambience is exactly our thing, little chichi, lots of wood, cloth napkins, candles and fresh flowers! Everything skillful and real, nothing loud, no sensationalism, not retro, not cool and not exuberant either. Thank you and see you again soon!

Wir haben 1 Stunde und 45 Minuten auf das Essen gewartet. Mehr muss man dazu nicht sagen. Die nette Bedienung hat versucht, uns mit Freigetränken bei Laune zu halten, aber auf leeren Magen bringt das auch keine Freude.

Der Kellner war sehr unfreundlich. Schlechtes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis Wir waren extrem enttäuscht Nicht zu empfehlen

The restaurant is very cosy, nice atmosphere, very attentive and kind service. The food was amazing, we had Brandade as a starter and Bouillabaisse as main and we shared the dessert variation. Everything was tasty and well presented. Prices on the high end but worth the money! Recommended!

The service was very warm and courteous, the restaurant was beautifully decorated. The volume is very high on Friday evenings, which makes conversation tiring. We had two different main courses and the Friday special, Bouillabaisse. Everything was very tasty and fresh. We found the starters and the bouillabaisse to be slightly too expensive, despite understanding the costs of good ingredients and the restaurant operation. In my opinion, for example, the two very small stuffed artichoke hearts were not “worth” the almost 13 euros. However, the wines were very fairly priced and the white wine recommended to us was very good. All in all four stars.

We had a perfect experience here from start to finish. Favorites were the great onion soup and mussels in an awesome broth - it’s been a while since we had them that good. Also super friendly service and lovely ambience. For sure we’ll be back.

Food not up to standars of the price level. This was my 2nd visit and the entrecote was just below par, a lot of chewie fat throughout the piece of meat. Also the bird was nothing special and my rack of lamb was way underseasoned :(

How best to say goodbye to our beloved Munich than celebrating a wonderful farewell dinner in the neighbourhood ? Have a Pastis while you sample the menu! Pleasant setting, simple and straightforward. We love the service! Great food choices, whatever you fancy - we opted for the lamb that night - great choice!! We will be back again!

Food has only 4 stars because the items I selected were nice but not really what I wanted and it didb't suit my taste. Selection is for sure made of fancy stuff but nothing suited my fancy. Not the restaurants falt and I don't blame anyone but my picky self. The tomato soup is really great though! Try that one! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and very skilled. They joke and make nice conversation and make one feel very welcomed. Atmosphere is great and comfy. The fasan my friends were eating was very much liked by them. I recommend this etablissement very much!

Tolles französisches Restaurant. Servicepersonal spricht auch französisch, was ein tollen originellen Touch hat. Súper gemütliche Atmosphäre und leckeres Essen, ich würde wieder kommen.

Sehr netter, unaufdringlicher Service und angenehme, gemütliche, eher rustikale Atmosphäre. Das Essen war sehr gut - es gab neben der regulären Speisekarte eine aktuelle Tafel mit Tagesgerichten. Die Anzahl und Auswahl der Gerichte war gut (nicht zu viele Optionen und saisonale Küche). Auf jeden Fall weiterzuempfehlen für einen schönen Abend mit gutem Essen!

Ein gutes Restaurant mit französischer Küche. Aber die Einrichtung und die Atmosphäre sind nicht sehr gemütlich. Haustierfreundlich ist ein großes Plus.

Sehr gutes französisches Restaurant, hervorragendes Essen in einer angenehmen Atmosphäre. Besonders die Austern waren positiv zu erwähnen. Preise sind für die Leistung definitiv in Ordnung! Einziges Manko: es werden Wasserflaschen verkauft, jedoch sind die Flaschen offensichtlich nicht versiegelt und nur wiederbefüllt - trotzdem werden 6,70€ berechnet. Daher ein Stern Abzug.

Ausgesprochen leckeres Essen. Das Ambiente ist schlicht aber schön, die Stühle waren mir etwas zu hart aber das mag schließlich jeder anders. Der Service war schnell und höflich.

Wirklich sehr gutes Essen und sehr guter Service. Habe hier die besten Schnecken in meinem Leben gegessen! Die Wartezeiten sind etwas lang allerdings sieht man bei dieser Qualität darüber hinweg. Die Einrichtung ist etwas spartanisch aber das ist absolut Geschmacksache. Freue mich aufs nächste Mal.

I ordered the lamb chops, and it was dry and showy. It's not worth your money. And the waitres didn't know English at all.

Excellent French food and foie gras. Been here many times and everything from the music to the service was excellent. It may be a small detail, but I find it very nice that they don't charge you extra for tap water. Highly recommended!
