Delicious food, quick service and comfortable seating in the garden on the lawn. Popular destination for cyclists and steam fans. We have been coming back for years, not just on DKBM driving days.

I have known the inn and its small steam train since I was a child. A must is the Westphalian Kastenpickert with butter and turnip cabbage. For families with children, this place is a dream and a ride on the small train is an experience.

The service was very nice and the schnitzels were delicious 😋

We've been there several times before, but this time we were really disappointed. Over an hour of waiting time for food, other guests came later and got something quicker. Questions were not welcome. Food was lukewarm, more lukewarm than warm. Only 1 out of 5 food was hot. Feedback was not wanted. Very very sad. The next time we travel by train, we will most likely eat somewhere else beforehand. A real shame.

The menu at lunchtime was quite thin and the price was clearly too high for the quality on offer. Asparagus was announced for the dishes we ordered. There was a small side dish of asparagus in the form of soft-boiled pieces of asparagus, but drowned in lots of sauce. The schnitzel with pesto, like the frozen croquettes, was fried too dark. There was also another indefinable light sauce in a bowl. Why so much sauce? The service, on the other hand, was convincing. Fast and nice. The kitchen may not have had its best day though... Payment by Visa card was not possible, only EC was accepted.

We were there because of the steam train. It's really nice that this place has been around for so long. I was there as a child and now I'm there with my child. There are 2 different wagons, open or closed, we thought both were great. There is also a playground for children. The cake was also very tasty. We'd love to come back.

Very friendly staff and super cozy restaurant with beer garden!! The food is simply delicious!!! We love going there and always look forward to food and a cozy evening!!! I can't understand some of the bad reviews at all! It's always clean and everything is great! Everything is always there in the toilet rooms (toilet paper, soap)! Of course you have to wait a little longer for your food, but you should also remember that everything is freshly prepared! Until I moved to Hesse 11 years ago, I often drove here from Bielefeld with my 90-year-old Englishman and only ate coffee and cake, so I can't comment on the quality of the cuisine here! The exit was sunny The weather is always nice, the ambience including the old small train is a pleasure! Now that I live in OWL again, I like to come back here, i.e. I've been here several times with my old English friend, most recently in September 2023 and May 2024!

Great restaurant in the country with lots of greenery around and railway charm. We sat there in the beer garden last night and had delicious food. A large train runs across the site every few days. Great for children.

Our group was thrilled, very nice service staff, great food, we felt comfortable, were there from 13 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Good Friday for lunch there. The desserts were also delicious. Always a pleasure.

Totally charming restaurant! I originally come from Gütersloh and was here often as a child. The small train is simply great. Now I was back home and had a really delicious dinner here. The location between Gütersloh and Isselhorst definitely invites you to stop off, for example on a bike tour. The food is super delicious. The price-performance ratio is right. The ambience makes you feel like you've been transported back in time, which absolutely suits the environment and the small railway. Very friendly staff. We would like to come back when we are in Gütersloh, hopefully on a date when the small train runs.

Great destination for families. When the weather is nice, there are plenty of places outside in the garden. The inn is located directly on the not busy Postdamm (currently a bicycle road), so it is a very quiet environment that invites you to linger for a long time in the countryside. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Keep it up dear people

We were looking forward to the fish week, but things turned out differently than we thought. After ordering, the service employee brought the drinks and spilled half a liter of beer and a glass of Pinot Gris on my wife's clothes, whereupon we took our order back and left the restaurant have left no apology from the host or staff

Great, great!! Quaint restaurant with a beer bar/counter. Viennese schnitzel with mushroom sauce, fries and salad plate (Image 1) Image 2 Chicken schnitzel with croquettes. Very quick service, despite the full room. Also very attractive in terms of price. Gladly again and again. Keep it up.

Simple very good kitchen. Simply an “old” inn with the appropriate ambience. We like to eat there because we like it very much.

A journey through time... - Wonderful! Actually, after more than a quarter of a century, I just wanted to see if Mühlenstroth still exists. And whether! The menu on the outside promised local cuisine, the ambience immediately took me back decades, but it is beautifully preserved and well maintained. Other guests recommended kale and it met my autumnal taste exactly. My expectations were far exceeded; the food was just as “woke” as the decor. Hardly anyone dares to eat something hearty anymore, the meat and sausage were by no means anorexic, the cabbage was just right and the fried potatoes were nice and crispy. I congratulate the Bentlage family and their crew for the courage to preserve the familiar and my memories to give a place. ...and there is Pickert!😏

Unglaublich. So lange leider nicht mehr da gewesen ...Ein wunderschönes Lokal, sieht aus als wäre die Zeit dort stehen geblieben. Absolut positiv. Das Essen war mit Abstand das beste des ganzen Jahres. Der Service war perfekt. Absolute Weltklasse. Vielen lieben Dank. Ich komme wieder. Versprochen

War dort nicht essen, sondern beim Treffen der Tuningmaniacs und muss sagen es ist eine absolut klasse Location :).

Sehr nett und gute Preise. Aber die Außenanlage ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und dementsprechend auch pflegebedürftig. Die kleine Dampflok, die hier ihre Runden dreht und ein echter Spaß für große und Klein ist, ist auf jeden Fall ein Erlebnis. Ich sage "Kann man klar empfehlen"

Ehrliche deutsche Küche....schöner gemütlicher Biergarten mit Spielplatz....Ideal für einen Fahrradausflug.....

Die Bedienung war total freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Umgebung ist herrlich. Rhododendronbüsche...und eine Wiese für die Kinder, wo man draußen sitzen kann. Das Essen war auch lecker.

Wer keinen Garten hat, kann hier wunderbar im Grünen sitzen, Kinder finden ausreichend Beschäftigung und können staunen.

Ein toller Platz zum hinradeln. Man sitzt im Sommer in einem tollen Garten. Die Kinder fühlen sich wohl dort und können toll spielen.

Im Internet wirbt dieses Lokal mit Speisen vom Wild. Man soll einen Tisch vorbestellen. Was ich auch getan habe. Vor Ort die große Enttäuschung. Ambiente wie in einer einfachen Pommes-Bude...Lautstärke enorm....es war kühl im Raum....Essen war in Ordnung, wenn man vom Omelett absieht....dieses wurde wohl in einem Fett gebraten, wo vorher Fisch zubereitet wurde. Zur Speisekarte....von Wild weit und breit nichts zusehen. Spargel und Kartoffeln lecker, ansonsten 4 Minus. Preise....gesalzen. dem Ambiente nicht angemessen. Danke...einmal und nicht wieder !!!

So wie viele das noch kennen :-) Etwas rustikale Atmosphäre, freundliche Bedienung und gutes Essen. Empfehlung für alle die mal nicht Döner oder Pizza wollen!!
