Very nice (upscale) atmosphere and very tasty food. Correspondingly expensive, but absolutely recommended! Toilets very clean and well maintained.

Great Restaurant in Giessen with view of the river and nice atmosphere. In winter it's cozy in summer nice as it also has outside sitting space. Delicious food and great service. The staff was patient and took time to explain the menu and give recommendations. Must revisit. Great for quiet dinners and also celebrations as they have an extra room for guests. Had the baked feta cheese and sardines as a starter, they were both very tasty! For the main course I had the calamari gyros plate. It was quite tasty but overall nothing special. The calamari was supposed to be fried but was actually fried, but the doneness was great. The atmosphere there was nice, Licher on tap was the highlight

After the German Bolero landlord quietly took over Skafos from the Irodion Greeks in the summer of this year, the service in particular deteriorated rapidly. And we also hear that from other “former” guests.

The best Greek restaurant I know in Giessen. Very good food at reasonable prices. Employees always quick, friendly and attentive.

Unfortunately you can tell that the owner has changed here. You can already notice this with the drinks e.g. the iced tea - only homemade (in-house) which is tasteless and more expensive than the previous one from Fuze Tea. Cola, Sprite etc. were previously served in bottles, now only in glasses and additional ice cubes to reduce the contents. The starter salad, which previously came from various salads, was replaced with cans of coleslaw. The meat is no longer of good quality and the fish dishes (starter prawns in ouzo) have been increased by €4-5 and include frozen prawns. Overall, all prices have been raised, we were here 2-3 times a week and there is hardly anything left here like the Svolos family who run it. No thanks.

We were there for dinner today. Everything excellent. Great food, the staff was very attentive and not only friendly but warm. Here you can only feel comfortable as a guest.

As soon as we ordered, the starter arrived and we didn't have any drinks yet. Not yet finished with the starter, the main course arrived. Everything is like on an assembly line. The noise was so loud you could barely hold a conversation. Food wasn't special.

We often eat at Skafos. The food is always delicious, the prices are reasonable and the staff is always very friendly.

Dinner on Wednesday September 4th, 2024, 2 people, approx. 7:30 p.m. The restaurant was empty, the terrace was busy. It took longer to take the order, including the drinks in advance. Starters: Ice cold tzatziki, good grilled anchovies, the sauce was also warmed up, lukewarm mayonnaise... Main course: Breaded baby calamari like rubber and untasty served with the dry rice, the dry fava lentil puree and the unappetizing salad base for the grilled octopus. The Pilsner with a collapsed foam head, a bottle of natural water for €6.50, the wines expensive and simple. I went to the counter to pay; I would have liked to have avoided looking into the kitchen. We have been there regularly and have always been very satisfied, but not this time - you should complain straight away when it costs around €75. Learned something again...

Well,this place is a bit of a hit and miss. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. The atmosphere was not very relaxing, the place was packed and the ventilation wasn't the best. The service was quite unfortunate with dirty dishes, plates, and the waitress dropping dishes on us. No discount offered,almost no excuse...

Very nice restaurant with a great, large terrace. The service was good and fast, and we didn't have to wait long for the food.

I specifically called to see if there was a table available on Saturday evening and was told yes! When we arrived, the lady showed us the table and then nothing happened for 20 minutes, neither a menu was brought nor anyone took notice of us. Even the lady who showed us the table walked past us a few times without being interested in serving us. After more than 20 minutes we got up again and left, of course no one noticed. Very bad service, I can't rate the food as I couldn't order anything.

Great location, nice service! Only the Caesar salad was not recommended!!! Salad: Too many and large halved cucumber slices, too many rock-hard toasted bread cubes (i.e. a lot of FILLING MATERIAL), chicken from the pan was cold and hard and absolutely no taste and the dressing was not Caesar dressing!!!!!!!!! Also, there were absolutely no tomatoes on the salad!!!!! If you have Caesar salad on the menu, you should also make Caesar salad and not something similar!!!!

Wonderful restaurant with a great view of the Lahn. Food is a little more expensive but worth the price. Toilet is worth it. Very nice atmosphere. Especially in the evening hours. The building itself resembles a ship and is architecturally interesting. I will gladly come again.

Very nice Greek restaurant right on the Lahn. The dishes are all very tasty and tastefully prepared. The ambience is great, especially when the weather is nice. You have a wonderful view of the Lahn and you can sit by the open panoramic window or in the cozy outdoor area with a light breeze. But the restaurant is also very nicely decorated inside. The price-performance ratio is right. Limited parking spaces are available. The restaurant is highly recommended, we would love to come back!

The food in this restaurant is really delicious, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. You are treated like dirt, which ruins the whole evening. Despite the outside temperature being only 18°C, the terrace windows were completely opened, making it uncomfortably cold in the restaurant. When we asked to close the windows, we were rudely told that this was not possible because otherwise it would be too warm for the waiters, not the guests. Even though it is summer, we know the weather in Germany and know that it can be very, very cold. In addition, the waiters are sometimes in a good mood and friendly, sometimes bad and rude, which makes the experience very unpredictable. Such rude treatment of guests is unacceptable. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant due to the poor service, even if the food tastes very good.

I would recommend the Skafos restaurant immediately :) We were with a large group on the upper terrace and had a great evening. If the weather had been nicer it would certainly have been even more pleasant. The food was super tasty and more than enough. The staff was always friendly, so we felt like we were in good hands. Gladly again at any time!

The food was good with sufficient portions. In my opinion, the price/performance ratio of the menu is absolutely fine. Delicious Greek specialties, meat and fish dishes, grilled vegetables, desserts, etc. Food is beautifully presented on the plate. Waiting times until serving are reasonable. Ambiance in the restaurant is modern, bright and attractive. The atmosphere is cozy, the volume in the restaurant was pleasant, and it was still possible to have a conversation at the table. Service was very nice and really made an effort. Location directly on the Lahn, parking spaces directly in front of the building. Large outdoor terrace with a view of the Lahn. There is an elevator for wheelchair users. You should definitely make a reservation in advance.

Tough competition for fast food I booked a table for 1 p.m. My grilled dish was on the table just 5 minutes after I ordered. My favorite dish. Bifteki, juicy, deliciously seasoned, with fresh herbs. Unfortunately not on my plate. I got an unseasoned mass that was floating in oil. Even the waiter noticed that I was disgusted by the food and offered to get the manager. And what I learned in a rather cold tone is that the food at Skafos is based on German cuisine. I didn't know that German cuisine was unseasoned, without herbs and floating in oil. My birthday dinner ended at 1:45 p.m. Thank God.

Great location, great service, incredibly delicious food. Due to the time: Friday evening it was quite crowded and correspondingly loud. I'll definitely come back again in the summer when you can sit outside.

Nice Greek restaurant right on the Lahn. Easily accessible, parking is also okay. Only the service wasn't as on point as it should be. If I come at lunchtime and there is a special card for lunch, you have to give it to the guest and not just when the guest asks for it. Then I think you could also expect that there are cushions on the benches at least on the main terrace right next to the restaurant, which is what you should expect at a restaurant with these prices.

We were there for the first time today, we have known the owner for almost 40 years, formerly the Restaurant Rhodes, later the Irodion in Buseck. As always, very friendly, great food, and a great atmosphere "keep it up, we'll be back!!!"

If you like Greek food, this is the place for you. It was very tasty and plentiful. My wife had the baked feta as a starter and the fish platter as a main course. I had the lentil soup as a starter and the grilled plate as a main course. We went there on a recommendation and found everything great. The portions were so big that we couldn't eat dessert. We'll definitely be back, but we'll forego the starter in favor of dessert.

The food is a bit more upscale and better than Irodion, but we didn't like the atmosphere. You get the impression that you are somehow being transported through the food. We couldn't eat in a relaxed manner. The temporary worker dropped a glass from the tray, then the boss came and trashed it in front of the guests to such an extent that it was embarrassing. That can just happen. Getting so worked up in front of guests is unprofessional. Unfortunately, you get the impression that things are fast and hectic here. We won't be coming back.

We went to Sakfos in Gießen for the first time, with children and friends. Starter, main course and dessert were really good! Everything was very fresh and high quality. The waiters were very nice, friendly and accommodating. The ambience is very nice and upscale. It's also great to eat here with children. The prices and portion sizes are fair. We will come back in any case.

After initial criticism shortly after the reopening, I tried it myself. The staff is very attentive and very friendly The portions of the food were excellent and the taste was simply great. The prices are also within normal limits. The price-performance ratio is right here. In conclusion: an absolute recommendation also for families and celebrations. Personally, I will visit this restaurant more often.

Anyone who visits Skafos will not only experience excellent Greek cuisine, but also unconditional warmth! The family gave us guests a wonderful stay. The service team was approachable at all times (despite the busy times) and tried very hard to ensure that we had a good evening. The food came exactly on time and tasted the way Greeks like it: fresh, well seasoned and very tasty. The restaurant itself looks extremely inviting, there is a good atmosphere with wonderful Greek music in the background. Thanks for a perfect evening with friends!

Ich kenne den Inhaber seit meiner Kindheit, für mich gibt es kein besseres Restaurant, kein besseres Essen, kein besseres griechisches Fealing als im Skafos. Ich liebe es💙

Kann ich nur weiter empfehlen!!!

Lange Wartezeiten direkt ab Beginn im Skafos. Wir mussten 15 Minuten warten bis wir erstmal eine Menu Karte erhalten haben. Es war teilweise laut und hektisch. Der Service war stets gemüht. Vorspeisen und essen kam dann relativ schnell nach der Bestellung. Der Grillteller war okay aber für 21 wenig Pommes und Fleisch. Der Beilagensalat war ganz gut. Die Oliven ebenfalls. In Summe ganz okay aber auch nichts besonderes. Der unterschied zu einem Schnellimbiss ist schwer zu erkennen beim essen und der Anrichte der Gerichte.

Essen ist lecker und Ambiente schön eingerichtet. Service sehr freundlich. Essen kam auch sehr schnell keine lange warte zeit.

Waren am 1.Weihnachtstag mit Familie dort essen. Leckeres und angenehm schnell rauskommendes Essen zu absolut fairen Preisen. Fantastischer und sehr aufmerksamer Service (Parkeinweiser/Türöffner am Eingang der warnt wo man nicht Parken sollte wegen Ordnungsamt, für mitgebrachte Blumen wurde sofort eine Vase geholt, sofortige Reaktion auf Blickkontakt, toller Umgang mit Kindern am Tisch) den ich so bisher selten erlebt habe. Etwas lauter aber bei Full House jetzt nichts unerwartetes. Toiletten noch mit etwas Luft nach oben. Für uns ab jetzt go to Adresse wenn wir über Feiertage wieder in der alten Heimat sind.

Service wirklich richtig gut! Beim Essen würde vielleicht noch mehr gehen. Vorspeisen und Dessert wirklich gut, aber alle Hauptspeisen dann doch etwas lieblos präsentiert und auch aromatisch nur halbherzig. Ambiente vermutlich Recht schön, aber wenn es rappelvoll ist, dann auch echt laut.

Das Essen war sehr gut und kam recht schnell.

Das Ambiente ist sehr angenehm. Die Bedienungen sind freundlich, aber nicht gerade sehr aufmerksam. Es hat sehr lange gedauert, bis bestellte Getränke gebracht wurden. Das Gyros Metaxxa war geschmacklich in Ordnung, leider sehr wenig Soße und der dazu bestellte tomatige Reis war völlig verkocht und nahezu ungewürzt.
