Very friendly staff who admitted their mistakes and reacted accordingly (incident: the appetizer was forgotten). I absolutely love the dolmadakia, as they are truly homemade and not from a can. I got a table without a reservation, even though the parking lot was very full and didn't look like it. Value for money: very good. Since this was my first time there, I will gladly return and also use the outdoor seating area.

The best Greek restaurant in the region, and it has been for over 20 years. Unlike many other Greek restaurants, the meat isn't over-seasoned with MSG, which often leaves you with a strong thirst afterward. It's always juicy and never overcooked. The service is consistently friendly, and you don't have to wait long for your order. Furthermore, the value for money remains excellent.

Well, I've already visited a few Greek restaurants in European countries and directly in Greece. I'm not saying it's bad here, but I wasn't as satisfied here as I was in other restaurants. It's probably individual.

We got a table very quickly. The appetizers were okay. Unfortunately, my gyros in Metaxa sauce with melted cheese was a complete disappointment. The cheese was burnt and hard, just like the meat, and the Metaxa sauce was practically nonexistent. This was probably all due to it being in the oven too long. It's not normally my style to send food back, but I was really hungry. The server was friendly, though, and offered to replace it. Unfortunately, the second dish wasn't much better. I got the impression that they had simply reused the gyros and just added new cheese and melted it on top. The Metaxa sauce was still nowhere to be found. The reason I could only give it two stars, however, is that my fries were also forgotten on the second attempt. The ambiance is okay, but not very clean. The staff, however, were always friendly and efficient.

I've had almost exclusively positive experiences so far. The food is good, reasonably priced, and arrives relatively quickly.

It used to be a good place, I don't know if there's a new owner or what's going on. The service is disinterested, things are just thrown on the table, and you have to pour your own drinks. The dishes are presented without any care and the taste has definitely been better. The side salad is better than what you get at any run-of-the-mill pizza delivery service. Prices are high, quality is down. It's a real shame, we always enjoyed going there, but not anymore.

Delicious food and nice, friendly staff.

Very friendly and efficient staff. Sufficient selection of dishes. The portions are large enough to satisfy everyone. Special requests are also no problem. From ordering to serving, it took about 20 minutes. Drinks were brought after about 5 minutes. Big praise to the chefs and the kitchen staff. All dishes can also be ordered for pick-up. Unfortunately, I can't say whether there are accessible restrooms and access; you should inquire. Highly recommended! We would love to come back.

A classic Greek restaurant. The service was excellent, and I also liked the ambiance—perhaps a bit too loud. Only the food wasn't quite as good. The meat was rather lukewarm and a bit tough. The gyro, Metaxas sauce, came without sauce or any side dish, but they kindly made it again. Prices are normal for a Greek restaurant.

The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. I ordered skewers (suflakki) with rice, tzatziki, and salad.

We made a reservation for a larger group of over ten people. We included some vegans. Non-vegan side salads were accidentally served, and once the wrong dish was brought, leading to a verbal misunderstanding. However, the head waiter resolved the situation very professionally and courteously. The food and ambiance were excellent, and the restaurant is very child-friendly. We highly recommend it. We look forward to our next visit when we're back in Giessen. Many thanks again to the head waiter and best regards.

We received a very friendly welcome, even though we hadn't made a reservation and it was busy. The excellent and plentiful food (Gigantes and roasted eggplant for starters, lamb fillet and sea bream for main course) was a delight! Summary of the visit: friendly people, a lovely atmosphere, and great food. I highly recommend the Irodion; we'll be happy to return!

The appetizer arrived after 3 minutes (snails) with a lot of garlic. The main course followed shortly after (leg of lamb with green beans) – the only thing fresh was the "cheese" on top. We sat outside. All tables had different plastic tablecloths. The music was too loud – after many requests from other guests, it was turned down a bit. The request to swap two ouzos to finish for two espressos – of course, for an "extra charge" – was ignored.

It used to be better, but unfortunately, things have gone downhill. The food quality is okay, the quantity has decreased, and the price has increased.

I highly recommend this place, especially because of the small playground where children can do gymnastics while their parents finish their meal.

I am 10 years old and I find the restaurant very good, very nice waiters, very tasty food, good service, everything is good, it is a 1000000/5👌💯

The food was standard, like any normal Greek restaurant; it tasted like something I'd get a pitta gyros at a fair. The service was friendly and attentive. The ambiance wasn't great. Nothing has been renovated here in the last 20 years; there are old benches, dirty windows, and a beer garden that's long past its prime. You'll get full, but that's about it.

This was our first visit to this restaurant, but certainly not our last. In addition to the excellent and plentiful food, the very friendly and personable service deserves at least equal mention. Even our dog was immediately provided with water. The value for money is excellent, and the ambiance creates a holiday atmosphere. A large beer garden invites you to relax. It was an all-around pleasant stay at Restaurant Irodion.

We drove 13 minutes from the Wissmarer See campsite to the Irodion restaurant. We had a lovely spot, and our dog was welcome and immediately given a bowl of water. Our order was taken quickly, and after only a short wait (despite the restaurant being busy), we received our delicious appetizers (saganaki and grilled octopus). The main courses were also served soon afterward (No. 45 and No. 72). We had already looked at the menu online. The dishes were very tasty and there were plenty of them. The service was very attentive and checked frequently to make sure everything was OK. We could pay either in cash or by card. They also served a good ouzo at the end. Our conclusion: We will definitely repeat our visit to Irodion.

As a long-time guest, I was more than disappointed. Unclean interior. Cobwebs on the lamps, dead insects on the windowsill. Four of us ate there on May 25, 2025. Almost simultaneously, everyone experienced severe stomach and intestinal problems the next day. They didn't recover even after a week of sick leave. Never again!!!

It used to be our regular haunt. Until the beginning of May. We wanted to have a nice evening with friends, but four people got sick with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, and even had to call the emergency services. I'm sorely disappointed and unfortunately, I'm reading more and more stories like this.

Delicious food, perfect service.

The meal was truly delicious, but I had to pay a €3 surcharge for fried onions instead of raw ones, which I found extremely excessive. I've only ever had liver with fried onions, and since the liver is fried anyway, it shouldn't be any extra effort to add the onions to the pan. I was quite surprised and disappointed.

About three weeks ago, on a Monday evening, I went there for dinner with my girlfriend, but I have to be honest and say that unfortunately it has gotten significantly worse. I specifically asked the waiter for the side salad to only have salt and pepper. Unfortunately, I still got a side salad with salad dressing. I complained to the waiter about this and although I did get a proper side salad without salad dressing, the waiter was unfortunately not as friendly as they had been at the beginning since this incident. My girlfriend had left a minced meat frikatelle on her plate and I had left a pork steak. I had specifically told the waiter that we would love to take it with us, but the waiter was very unfriendly and cleared the plates away. Unfortunately, we weren't offered an ouzo to finish off when we paid.

Bad service: lids are carelessly thrown onto the table, and everyone is very unfriendly. The food is nothing special; the fries are burnt. Everything is served quickly; there's no time to order or reorder anything. Here, too, I had intestinal problems for several hours after eating. They also asked me to pay in cash. Never again.

We were there today, and it was great. Where do I begin: The decor and ambiance are relaxed, timeless, and cozy. I like the cozy, quirky design of the place, as you sometimes expect from Greek restaurants. The place is on the edge of a forest with good parking. The music is atmospheric, not intrusive. The staff is attentive and polite. I had souflaki skewers with fries and salad, and what can I say? It was simply delicious, and the portion size was more than adequate. The drinks are also very reasonably priced. My companion had the calamari and was also thrilled. In my opinion, the value for money is perfectly fine; it's definitely not a fast food place. We'll definitely be back.

It was my first time and I won't go again. 🐌 I ate 6 mini snails for €7, and then it started to feel nauseous while eating. I could barely eat the second course because I felt slightly nauseous. When I got home, it was the end of the day. I was sitting on the toilet from the first minute until the next morning, throwing up, etc. I had to call in sick. I didn't eat much that day, so I'm sure the snails weren't good.

The food is okay, tasty. The place could use a bit of cleaning; there are cobwebs everywhere, e.g., on lamps, etc.

Never again!! We were there with four people on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Everyone had stomach cramps, severe diarrhea, and nausea afterward. My husband had chills, and two people had to take sick leave because it was so severe. It all started right after we ate the food, and we're still feeling under the weather. The food tasted okay, but nothing special. The service was friendly.

It took almost 20 minutes for the appetizer to arrive. The goulash soup consisted only of noodles and chunks of meat. The gyro plate came without tzatziki, the meat was only lukewarm and flavorless. The fries were already dark brown. Unfortunately, it's not what it used to be.

The restaurant's location is beautiful, and the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff are also positive. The seating is rather uncomfortable and doesn't encourage long lingering. Unfortunately, shortly after a family meal, 9 out of 10 attendees became ill with vomiting and diarrhea. For those affected, there is no question about the causal connection between the food and the illness, even though the manager denied any responsibility. We will steer clear of this restaurant in the future.

... Iridion - what kind of rip-off is this? According to the menu I ordered breaded calamari and gyros with rice and mixed salad. At my request, as a change to the menu, I ordered the calamari grilled instead of breaded. The calamari was also slightly browned and lukewarm. According to the invoice there is an additional charge of €3. It's a shame, with these prices I'll look for another restaurant.

Disappointed with this restaurant. I recently had a party and ordered food from this restaurant. With all confidence that everything will be fine. But it wasn't like that. 6 Olympia Platte arrived at us with 2 small casseroles of French fries, rice and cabbage. We had confidence but unfortunately we are very disappointed! I think we were tricked!

Unfortunately it's no longer what it used to be... The food was always good until a few years ago. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. I've had several unpleasant experiences over the last 3 years, especially when it comes to the quality of the meat. At the last meal with the entire family, around 15 people, the calamari was clearly spoiled. This was the case with 3 plates of calamari. After the plates were returned, the manager came and discussed with our entire family at the table for about 10 minutes that the fish was fresh and couldn't taste spoiled. When all 3 people confirmed again that the fish tasted spoiled, the manager became increasingly louder. In the end he blamed it on the egg salad because it could be bad. When our seemingly overpriced bill was finally checked by a family member, it turned out that the entire neighboring table had been added to our bill for over 100 euros. I completely understand if something doesn't taste as usual, if a mistake happens, etc. But involving your customers in such discussions after a completely legitimate complaint about clearly spoiled food is unacceptable and unprofessional. After many years of being a regular customer - never again.

Essen kommt schnell, sehr schnell, also zu schnell, so ist es dann leider auch. Fleisch zäh und Reis schlonzig. Würde ich nicht nochmal hingehen.

Wir waren zu Dritt in diesem Restaurant und es hat uns gut gefallen. Die Bedienung war sehr nett, das Essen schmackhaft und reichlich. Wir hatten den frischen Lachs mit einer Folienkartoffel und einen feinen Beilagensalat sowie eine Grillplatte und einen Grillteller. Das Essen kam zügig und warm an den Tisch. Es hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Die Preise sind top. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Unfortunately we weren't happy with our food. We ordered our food to take away. The fried potatoes were swimming in liquid and were absolutely not crispy as they should be. Our requests such as double mayonnaise were not fulfilled because there was none. The Jäger Schnitzel didn't look particularly appetizing, the sauce tasted very artificial. But the gyro was delicious. Overall we are disappointed and cannot recommend it.

Food was good so far. It would have been perfect if there had been tzatziki with the gyros. Service was bad. It took a whole 90 minutes before we were asked, even though the empty glasses were spotted at least 20 times and all the neighboring tables were served and collected several times. It wasn't crowded or anything. What's that supposed to mean? Then it was far too warm inside, so you had to strip down to your shirt. 2 degrees less is easily enough.

A very good restaurant. Always fresh, always hot, always delicious. There is nothing to complain about when it comes to food and drinks. The portions are just right and the speed from ordering to serving is really great. Even if the restaurant is full, the waiting time is reasonable. Reservations are recommended on weekends. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The free parking spaces behind the restaurant can reach their limits at peak times. But a full parking lot is proof of the many satisfied guests. I would love to come back.

The restaurant is actually always busy. Of course, this leads to a certain level of acoustics in the rooms that you don't necessarily want. But why is it so crowded? Because it's easy to get to, because everything happens very quickly (almost too quickly), because the food tastes really good and the prices are affordable. Clear recommendation!

Update 2025. Stay well 👍. The Greek restaurant Irodion has been in a class of its own for years. It impresses with its consistently good quality, which it has reliably maintained over the years. The new winter garden is also well done. Another plus point is the consistently consistent, solid and friendly staff, which makes a visit to the Irodion a pleasant experience every time. It's impressive how the restaurant manages to maintain its high standards while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Definitely keep it up – you have truly earned your excellent reputation!

Were there as a group, the kitchen has improved again, the service is sick. The sanitary area urgently needs cleaning and renovation. If hygiene is so everywhere, no thanks.

Christmas Day. Almost all seats were occupied, but everything was still absolutely friendly and harmonious. Food a la menu was served after 30 minutes. It tasted wonderful, very nice staff, very professional and inexpensive. Recommended at any time. Thank you very much, it was a nice day.
