S'j Ramen in Bielefeld

You feel like you're part of this authentic Japanese atmosphere. Wonderful service and exceptional ramen. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, there's very little seating, but the small, cozy location makes up for it once you've found a seat.

I grew up in Bielefeld but discovered this shop when I moved to Kassel and was back in Bielefeld for a visit. This was the second time we drove from Kassel to Bielefeld just for the ramen, and it was definitely worth it. After ordering, you get a card with information about the ramen you've chosen, and the service was just as friendly as last time. I'm sure we'll be back soon, especially on these colder days! You can not only see it, you can taste it too. The service was amazing, so sweet and friendly. Since the restaurant is very small, we had to wait a few minutes, but it was so worth it! The ambiance is small but pleasant. The small, private areas are particularly well-suited for those who are more introverted or simply prefer minimal social interaction. The tablet is easy to use. The service is pleasant and friendly. The food looks great and tastes wonderful. At peak times, you can expect a wait. But that's a good thing for the restaurant. The wait times are a result of the high number of visitors.

Highly recommended! The food is always excellent. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. You even get a VIP card if you go there often. Of course, a larger restaurant area would be desirable, as more and more people should be going there!

We ordered the Chashu and Kumamoto Ramen. Also tried the onigiri, Jasmin and Sencha tea. All very delicious and highly recommend!

As soon as I walked in, I heard Japanese music in the kitchen, which immediately gave me that authentic feeling. In the summer, I could even eat hiyashi chuka (summer ramen) here. Something I haven't encountered anywhere else in Europe. It felt like I was back in Japan, where I lived for a long time. It's a bit of a drive from Amsterdam, but absolutely worth it. I hope to be able to go back to Bielefeld for summer vacation sometime soon :)

I had ramen for the first time today and I wasn't disappointed. A solid 10 out of 10, plus the staff is super friendly and you feel like you're in good hands. Expect a bit of a wait, but the food makes up for it!

During our meal, we noticed that the onigiri we ordered hadn't arrived yet, but the ramen was so delicious that we could have easily overlooked it... But after we spoke up, it was brought to us very quickly. It's also worth mentioning that the staff is very friendly!

We ate here today and left feeling full and happy. Very tasty food, friendly service, and excellent value for money. We had to wait a bit, as the place was already very busy around 4:30 p.m. on a Sunday. The wait for the food was a bit longer, but still perfectly acceptable! Highly recommended!

We've dined here 2-3 times and have been delighted each time. The food is incredibly delicious. I can't name a special dish, but I try a different ramen every time, but you might want to try the egg ramen for your first time.

Great ramen, everything was very, very tasty. 12/10. Just a quick note: the dangos you're used to are listed as mochi on the menu.

Had cold ramen salad today, was refreshing and tasty as expected. Caveat: don't put too much of the ramen sauce without tasting it first. The sauce is quite sour/vinegary and with small amounts adds freshness but with large amount can overpower the rest of the dish. I also got a small tuna onigiri as a bonus for the ramen salad, which had a soft rice texture and salty creamy tuna filling. Overall taste and texture are great, only lacking on the quantity of meat as usual. Service is fast and nice. The place also fills up quickly by 13:00. It's better to come earlier

A truly wonderful experience eating Japanese food there. The service is top-notch and super friendly, welcoming, and very polite. Three courses with a drink for around €30. The €4.50 tea was constantly refilled with free hot water. Where else can you find something like that, or even anywhere? But be prepared to wait 20-60 minutes if you go on the weekend. The place is (still) very small and incredibly popular. You can often see bloggers there, who are helping to make this place so well-known. A truly high recommendation.

I ordered the Osaka Red Tasty at SJ Ramen – and was absolutely thrilled! From the very first spoonful, it was clear: Ramen isn't just cooked here, it's celebrated. The broth was incredibly aromatic, flavorful, and perfectly balanced – with a pleasant spiciness that hit just the right level. The noodles were nice and firm to the bite, as you'd expect from authentic Japanese ramen, and the toppings were fresh, lovingly prepared, and perfectly flavorful. A particularly positive aspect: The portion was more than sufficient, but not overwhelming. You immediately notice the passion and true craftsmanship that goes into making this dish. First, the atmosphere is simply fantastic. I personally felt like I was in a cozy little restaurant in a Japanese alley. The ramen tasted amazing. I've never had such delicious gyoza, and to finish it off, I had a delicious Japanese cheesecake with matcha powder. The service was also extremely polite. Overall, I felt very comfortable and will definitely go there again.

Whether you're in Japan, Bielefeld, or Düsseldorf, the quality is pretty similar!

Two of us were standing at the front door at 12 noon on a Saturday. There's already a small line at opening time, and all the tables were taken in no time. So, "no waiting," but afterward, there are short waits. The food is incredibly delicious, and the "blue" soda is nice and sweet, but not overpowering. Ramen from the menu offers "collectible cards" to try a different dish on your next visit. In the summer, when all the windows are open, the car posers and moped scooters make it incredibly loud. Otherwise, you can enjoy the fresh food in a lovely atmosphere. Chopsticks are the only option. So practice diligently :) Card payments are accepted. There's a stamp card for customer loyalty and repeat visits. P.S. The small table wobbled a bit at the base. I was afraid it would break.

I've eaten ramen here several times, and I can only say positive things! You can choose from a great selection of ramen and order extras if you like. The portions are more than enough to fill you up, and the homemade lemonades are a perfect complement to hot summer days—even without them. :) Aside from the food, I think the ambiance is absolutely perfect. Despite the small size of the restaurant, you feel completely at home and warmly welcomed. The staff also contributes to this pleasant atmosphere. I'm always convinced to come back :)

A newfangled gimmick with a tablet and I waited forever for the food and also forever to pay. I've waited so long, I'm hungry again. The food tasted great, full marks, but unfortunately the chashu had extra pork. The extra was three thin slices of cold cuts.

As you can see in the picture, you can see what I ate. The food was very tasty, the seasoning was just right, everything was top-notch. The service was also very nice and friendly. It took a while for our order to be taken, but it was only a minor thing, so it gets 5 full stars.

This has been my absolute favorite restaurant in Bielefeld for years. You can really tell that SJ Ramen is a passion project and that a lot of effort is put into it. Recently, there's been competition in the city, which I was looking forward to, but I was rather disappointed. The passion that goes into SJ Ramen isn't so easy to match. One criticism of SJ: a few more vegetarian and vegan ramen options would be great, as the selection is currently limited.

I've been going here regularly since the shop opened in Bielefeld. So far, I've had the best ramen anywhere here; even in Düsseldorf, I don't like it as much. They always have the summer ramen in summer, the White Tan Tan in winter, and in the seasons in between, I usually get the Chashu. The service is always incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant. You can tell that they're not resting on their laurels; the whole team is always trying hard. One small, but not insignificant, innovation: the chopsticks. They now break at the predetermined breaking point and no longer splinter so strangely. I will continue to enjoy coming here and enjoying my food in the future.

An absolute highlight. When you enter the small shop, you truly feel like you're in another world. The service is very attentive. They explain everything perfectly if it's your first time. Those who don't use chopsticks are, of course, provided with regular cutlery. The food is soooo delicious, I don't need to say much more. I'd be happy to come back! 🤤

Best Ramen Restaurant in Germany

Even my skeptical grandma is convinced :) I love going here again and again. The ramen tastes traditional and fresh. Vegan and veggie options make you happy all around. Great lemonades and the tea are delicious, too. The small shop may be a bit cramped, but otherwise it has an authentic atmosphere. The staff are extremely friendly and greet/say goodbye to every guest.
