To get one thing out of the way: The food, when it finally arrived, was okay. Not a culinary highlight, but solid. If it weren't for the service, it might have been good enough for 3 stars. The service that evening, however, was so abysmal that I'd rather give it 0 stars. We waited a whopping two hours for our main course. During that time, the staff consistently ignored us. It really felt like our order had been completely forgotten. Our drinks were already finished when, after what felt like an eternity, the appetizer was finally served. Hoping for a refill was useless—it was simply impossible to get a waiter's attention. Every attempt at eye contact was skillfully avoided. When we finally managed to get someone to come to our table, the interaction was brief and anything but friendly. No smile, no apology for the absurd wait, nothing. We felt like a nuisance, not a guest. Conclusion: Even the best food can't make up for such disastrous and unfriendly service. This was our first visit and definitely our last. Absolutely not a recommendation!

Unfortunately, our visit was a complete disaster. We were "allowed" to order our first drink after about 30 minutes. The appetizers were good. The wait for the main course was almost 1.5 hours. The main courses weren't worth the price at all. The worst thing about the evening, however, was the nonexistent service. A complete disaster. We were there for a test meal, with the intention of possibly hosting a party. Luckily, we'd been here before. Any snack bar has better service! By the way, we only had one drink. Empty glasses were ignored... All in all, not worth a visit! Save your money!

Shiki in Leipzig offers delicious food that impresses with its quality and taste. The dishes are freshly prepared and a visual highlight. The portions are rather small, however, which should be taken into account given the high prices. The service is excellent – ​​fast, polite, and always attentive. You feel well looked after all around. In conclusion: If you value fine cuisine and excellent service, this is the place for you. Minor compromises in the portions and price, but otherwise, it's top-notch!

The only negative thing was the waitresses (male). I wasn't asked if I wanted a drink for over an hour and a half, and my glass was completely empty.

The presentation and taste of the food are good. Unfortunately, the salmon arrived almost raw on the plate. When we complained, the plate was apparently simply put in the microwave, and the salmon was still almost raw. Unbelievable. The amount of mashed potatoes was a small spoonful, but they added some upon request. The glass of wine for €9.50 (a bottle costs €7.50 online) is also outrageous. The plate at the next table arrived cold and was returned. So for the prices they charge for food and wine here, this is completely unacceptable. It's a disgrace. We won't be back.

I ordered sushi, it was delicious, but the menu didn't say how much there was, we asked the waiter and he answered incorrectly, they brought us less. Very expensive, some things there are not worth it. The service is terrible, you had to wait, the waiter did not bring one of the dishes that we ordered and brought it only when we noticed it, you had to wait for it for a very long time. The atmosphere is nice, but if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a couple of flies, I don't recommend going here.

I had a fantastic experience at the Shiki restaurant! The shitake soup with silken tofu was truly delicious, and the udon carbonara with beef was cooked to perfection, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. I was completely impressed by the food. The ambiance is truly chic and cozy—I've rarely dined in such style. If I'm back in Leipzig, I'll definitely be back!

Oh my God, that was good! I think this was the best sushi I've ever eaten in my life. I had a Shiki menu, so I had no idea what to expect. It was simply an explosion of flavor! And the fish was so incredibly tender, and definitely more fish than rice. My cocktail was also delicious. I'm going home completely satisfied! If I lived here (and not just on vacation) AND I were rich, I'd probably come here all the time 😅 I think the prices are completely justified for the quality of the food. Service was appropriately fast and at the same time pleasantly unobtrusive. Highly recommended!

We reserved a table for four people at 6 p.m. yesterday. We were seated without even asking for our names. We sat for 20 minutes without anyone coming to take our drink orders. Then we left. I'm not even sure anyone noticed. There weren't many tables occupied, so it couldn't have been due to stress. Once, never again. We then went to another restaurant and had an excellent meal.

Unfortunately, our high expectations for lunch weren't met. We had to ask the waiter to bring the menu; the sushi was based on the quality of the fish, but the craftsmanship wasn't particularly good! The rest of the food was okay but not worth the trip. My highlight was the passion fruit lemonade. It was supposed to be the sushi. Second attempt today. After waiting 10 minutes for the menu, we left. The table was dirty and the waiters were unoccupied.

Generally speaking, it's a nice sushi bar to go to. While browsing the menu outside, I was approached by another person who said they had come from far away to eat here. So my expectations were probably very high. As I already mentioned, it was generally delicious. I ordered a platter for one person for €35. It looked good, but it could have been a bit bigger, and I missed some seafood. I was full afterward, but not as satisfying as I have been at other places. There was quite a lot of cream cheese for my personality, as well as a lot of rice and a bit too little fish. Nevertheless, it was a nice visit, but I think there's still room for improvement.

During a weekend visit with our daughter, we visited Shiki again. Once again, the service and cuisine were excellent. We're already looking forward to another visit. We recommend Shiki to anyone who values ​​good food and appropriate service.

A very underwhelming experience. The food was not something to be raging over, the most “impressive” part of our meal being the gyozas. The sushi roll was drenched in mayo. Service was slow in spite of it not being busy…not sure if it contributed that we were sitting outside. The meal price is not a reflection of the food or service quality, but maybe of the prime location in the old city center. However, the inside of the restaurant did look beautiful.

A beautiful restaurant with very good meat. I ordered the udon carbonara, and the steak on it was perfectly grilled and well seasoned. The noodles and cream sauce were also delicious. I highly recommend this place.

In terms of taste, this is one of the best restaurants I know. Every dish I've tried lets the ingredients shine exceptionally. Everything has a perfectly balanced flavor. I feel very comfortable in the modern ambiance. However, the service could be more attentive for the upscale level. I wouldn't want to see the servers walk past the table four times before they notice my gaze and hand.

The food is really delicious, but also very expensive. Especially the sushi, so some of the negative reviews are understandable. The worst sushi shop I have ever experienced. I don't even know where to start. For 80 euros I got a few tiny, carelessly slapped together “sushi” bites that didn’t even taste remotely fresh. The fish was watery, the rice was dry, and the portions were so ridiculously small that I seriously thought about where else I could eat. That wasn't food - that was an outrage. If you have so little respect for your guests, you should seriously consider simply closing the place. I have rarely experienced such disappointment. It would have been better to just eat bread and butter at home. It tastes better, costs less and you don't feel completely ripped off afterwards. Never again. Just sad.

Bei einem Kurzbesuch in Leipzig mit Bekannten hier eingekehrt, da sie hier schon oft waren und bisher sehr zufrieden waren. Das Ambiente war angenehm, die Bedienung schnell und das Essen von guter Qualität, wenn auch preislich eher im oberen Bereich angesiedelt. Wir haben unter anderem die Sashimiplatte und die Sushiplatte für jeweils 35 Euro gegessen. Was dann allerdings serviert wurde, war sehr, sehr übersichtlich. Obwohl wir keine großen Esser sind, sind wir nicht annähernd satt geworden, so daß wir dann, etwas verärgert, nochmals woanders eingekehrt sind, um unseren Hunger zu stillen. Wir können der vorigen Rezension nur zustimmen. Deswegen nur 3 Sterne....

Wir waren seit Jahren Fans vom Shiki, leider wurden wir bei unseren letzten Besuchen enttäuscht. Die Hauptspeisen werden immer kleiner und sind preisintensiv. Wir haben zu viert 180 € bezahlt und niemand ist satt geworden. Die Sushiplatte (Foto) für 35 € pro Person war ein Witz, preislich von der Menge her nicht mehr gerechtfertigt. Unsere Anmerkung wurde vom Keller komplett ignoriert und es gab auch keine Reaktion bei der Rechnungsübergabe. Wir haben den Eindruck, dass die Aufmerksamkeit gegenüber den Gästen nachlässt, und zwar in Bezug auf die Portionsgrößen und auf den Service... großer Fehler! Leider hat das Shiki jetzt ein paar Fans weniger, die Konkurrenz freut sich.... wirklich schade!

A really good and highly recommended restaurant. It's not cheap, but it's excellent quality, really tasty and so much better than the run-of-the-mill sushi you know. The service was super nice and friendly. We got a table for 5 people spontaneously and without a reservation.

For the tables made from the large tree trunk, I would add a device so that you can place your feet on them. Otherwise everything was great.

Despite a confirmed reservation, my name was not found and I was asked for the email and I had to show my cell phone as proof, even though many tables were free, I had the impression that they didn't want us as guests. The same employee answers the question whether “that’s where the toilet is” with a bored nod. Everything at the table was also very mixed. The menus (and especially the chairs!!!) were very dirty, I wouldn't have expected that in a restaurant of this standard and price range. The food was good. However, the prices do not match the size of the dishes. The waiter at the table was friendly but inattentive, so the glasses remained empty and we had to call the waiter to pay, even though he was cleaning tables in our area. After we forgot something at the table, we immediately went back, but after 3 minutes it had already been thrown in the trash. You could at least give the guest a few minutes more time to collect forgotten things... Conclusion: Good, expensive food and bad service. No recommendation. Update 8.2.25: The restaurant's response suggests that "complaints are addressed." I contacted the restaurant by email the same day as requested, reaction so far, at least after 3 weeks: zero. I don't have to say anything more here.

Lots of fruit flies and feels uncomfortable while eating, service not matching the price and quality of the restaurant. Staff looks tired and unhappy, has rather cold attitude. The taste differs, beef tartar tasted amazing however octopus was disappointing. Definitely not worth the price.

We know Shiki Dresden and were thrilled with the place. Unfortunately, Shiki Leipzig couldn't keep up. It started with the tables being very close together. The selection of open wines was also very limited and, even worse, the selection of vegetarian dishes. There wasn't a single vegetarian main course. Also on the long daily menu: ZERO vegetarian. The service wasn't overly attentive, you sat in front of an empty glass for a while, cutlery that had been cleared away wasn't refilled with the next course... The dishes we had (especially the amazing duck and pomelo salad) were delicious. Only the mochi dessert was disappointing: for €9, two tiny balls (there were 3 in Dresden) with unripe fruit.

This is not sushi. If you had the real thing, stay away

Modernes & stylisches Ambiente, musikalisch ausgewogen untermalt & eine umfangreiche Speisekarte, das war der erste Eindruck. Zugegeben der Service war am Sonntag Abend etwas unterbesetzt, aber ausgesprochen höflich, kompetent & voller Elan. Ich hatte mich für Sushi entschieden obwohl die Karte noch so viele andere Köstlichkeiten zu bieten hatte - und wurde natürlich nicht enttäuscht. Kein 0815 Sushi sondern inspirierende Kreationen bei welchem es mir schwer fiel mich zu entscheiden. Sicherlich, frische & Qualität haben auch Ihren Preis - aber es lohnt sich wirklich! Zu empfehlen ist auch der japanische Reistee ;) Komme gerne wieder! Und ihr: lasst es euch schmecken :)

Food is completely convincing, but is definitely price category €€€, not €€ as stated. For the large number of service employees on site, their attention was not sufficient. Empty plates stood at the tables for a long time, empty drinks were not noticed and asking for the bill also took a long time. The condition of the menus (dirty paper, loose pages) does not correspond in any way to the standard of the restaurant. Something like that spoils the impression, which is a shame because the food is really impressive!

Sehr lecker! Wartezeit war zwar etwas lange, ist aber glaub ich dem geschuldet dass Alles frisch zubereitet wird. Preise sind gehoben aber das was man bekommt ist super! Speisekarte könnte ansprechender gemacht werden, ist kein Aushängeschild!
