SHIKI - Klostergasse 18 in Leipzig

Wir waren seit Jahren Fans vom Shiki, leider wurden wir bei unseren letzten Besuchen enttäuscht. Die Hauptspeisen werden immer kleiner und sind preisintensiv. Wir haben zu viert 180 € bezahlt und niemand ist satt geworden. Die Sushiplatte (Foto) für 35 € pro Person war ein Witz, preislich von der Menge her nicht mehr gerechtfertigt. Unsere Anmerkung wurde vom Keller komplett ignoriert und es gab auch keine Reaktion bei der Rechnungsübergabe. Wir haben den Eindruck, dass die Aufmerksamkeit gegenüber den Gästen nachlässt, und zwar in Bezug auf die Portionsgrößen und auf den Service... großer Fehler! Leider hat das Shiki jetzt ein paar Fans weniger, die Konkurrenz freut sich.... wirklich schade!

For the tables made from the large tree trunk, I would add a device so that you can place your feet on them. Otherwise everything was great.

A really good and highly recommended restaurant. It's not cheap, but it's excellent quality, really tasty and so much better than the run-of-the-mill sushi you know. The service was super nice and friendly. We got a table for 5 people spontaneously and without a reservation.

Incredibly good sushi with the finest fish! Prepared by the sushi master. Prices are high, you should be able to accept that. Atmosphere is very elegant and pleasantly darkened. The waitress didn't notice us once or twice, but that could have been an exception. They are still very friendly. We definitely recommend this restaurant!

We discovered a beautiful restaurant by chance. It was busy, but luckily we still got a table, even though it was a bit tight. Unfortunately the menu was a bit spotty. Unfortunately, the prices didn't quite meet our expectations. The sushi for €35 per person seemed a bit expensive when it was delivered. It was also a shame that we couldn't reach a waiter for more drinks. The ambience still seemed romantic and calming. Nevertheless, the food was very tasty.

We had lunch here. The service was quick and attentive. The ambience was actually quite nice, but at second glance everything was pretty worn out, my chair was dirty, the table was stained and the menu cards were already very scuffed up. The drinks were delicious and the food was also impressive. We were also very satisfied with the taste, the only thing I was a little surprised about was the different quality of salmon in the tacos when it came to the starter. Otherwise we had a tuna steak and chicken that was absolutely delicious. So I can only recommend it, we would love to come back.

Very mixed experience in an actually very nice restaurant. The welcome was extremely cold. Despite a confirmed reservation, my name was not found and I was asked for the email and I had to show my cell phone as proof, even though many tables were free, I had the impression that they didn't want us as guests. The same employee answers the question whether “that’s where the toilet is” with a bored nod. Everything at the table was also very mixed. The menus (and especially the chairs!!!) were very dirty, I wouldn't have expected that in a restaurant of this standard and price range. The food was good. However, the prices do not match the size of the dishes. The waiter at the table was friendly but inattentive, so the glasses remained empty and we had to call the waiter to pay, even though he was cleaning tables in our area. After we forgot something at the table, we immediately went back, but after 3 minutes it had already been thrown in the trash. You could at least give the guest a few minutes more time to collect forgotten things... Conclusion: Good, expensive food and bad service. No recommendation. Update 8.2.25: The restaurant's response suggests that "complaints are addressed." I contacted the restaurant by email the same day as requested, reaction so far, at least after 3 weeks: zero. I don't have to say anything more here.

Lots of fruit flies and feels uncomfortable while eating, service not matching the price and quality of the restaurant. Staff looks tired and unhappy, has rather cold attitude. The taste differs, beef tartar tasted amazing however octopus was disappointing. Definitely not worth the price.

Sushi und Sashimi sind von ausgezeichneter Qualität. Die Präsentation ist auch sehr ansprechend, zum Beispiel wird das Sashimi auf einer kleinen Matte serviert, die direkt auf Eis gebettet ist. Das Restaurant ist wunderschön dekoriert, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Einziges Manko: der Service könnte mehr auf Zack sein. Man muss sich leider sehr um die Aufmerksamkeit der Kellner bemühen.....

The evening was simply a success. The food was delicious, as always, and the service was also very accommodating.

The food is good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. As soon as we arrived, the waiter at the entrance looked at our watch with a bad face, as if it were already late for dinner, even though we had a reservation at 9:00 p.m. Then they served us the food without putting the cutlery and when they brought it, some of it was dirty. Only one waiter was friendly, but the rest of the staff were inconsiderate. It's a shame, because we liked the food, but with that treatment we don't plan to return.

It was very disappointing and dirty. We had made a reservation with a dog and were given a table in the cramped restaurant, although we had asked whether we could also get another table, but were rudely and dismissively told no, apparently one part was closed, but other guests were then there suddenly placed. Service was unfriendly and not customer oriented. I also knew everything better. Very poor service. The main course of sushi came before the starters. The other main course also came with the starter. Complaints were not addressed at all. 2 drinks were forgotten or so we waited 15 minutes for it. At the end there was a 10% discount... well, whatever. Price performance isn't right at all, where the prices are at a high level. But the positive thing was the quality of the food, which was great. But the rest gets zero including cleanliness. Upholstered chairs old, dirty and worn just like the menu, worn, dingy and barely legible. And they want to go posh, it doesn't go together at all. Restaurant only focuses on masses at high prices, cramped seating, uncomfortable and dirty, this was the last time in this restaurant... It doesn't help...I advise against visiting, there are better restaurants in Leipzig And in the price range, I expect a different one. Service and and The guest should still be welcome and not be there for customization

We know Shiki Dresden and were thrilled with the place. Unfortunately, Shiki Leipzig couldn't keep up. It started with the tables being very close together. The selection of open wines was also very limited and, even worse, the selection of vegetarian dishes. There wasn't a single vegetarian main course. Also on the long daily menu: ZERO vegetarian. The service wasn't overly attentive, you sat in front of an empty glass for a while, cutlery that had been cleared away wasn't refilled with the next course... The dishes we had (especially the amazing duck and pomelo salad) were delicious. Only the mochi dessert was disappointing: for €9, two tiny balls (there were 3 in Dresden) with unripe fruit.

This is not sushi. If you had the real thing, stay away

Modernes & stylisches Ambiente, musikalisch ausgewogen untermalt & eine umfangreiche Speisekarte, das war der erste Eindruck. Zugegeben der Service war am Sonntag Abend etwas unterbesetzt, aber ausgesprochen höflich, kompetent & voller Elan. Ich hatte mich für Sushi entschieden obwohl die Karte noch so viele andere Köstlichkeiten zu bieten hatte - und wurde natürlich nicht enttäuscht. Kein 0815 Sushi sondern inspirierende Kreationen bei welchem es mir schwer fiel mich zu entscheiden. Sicherlich, frische & Qualität haben auch Ihren Preis - aber es lohnt sich wirklich! Zu empfehlen ist auch der japanische Reistee ;) Komme gerne wieder! Und ihr: lasst es euch schmecken :)

Food is completely convincing, but is definitely price category €€€, not €€ as stated. For the large number of service employees on site, their attention was not sufficient. Empty plates stood at the tables for a long time, empty drinks were not noticed and asking for the bill also took a long time. The condition of the menus (dirty paper, loose pages) does not correspond in any way to the standard of the restaurant. Something like that spoils the impression, which is a shame because the food is really impressive!

Sehr lecker! Wartezeit war zwar etwas lange, ist aber glaub ich dem geschuldet dass Alles frisch zubereitet wird. Preise sind gehoben aber das was man bekommt ist super! Speisekarte könnte ansprechender gemacht werden, ist kein Aushängeschild!

The food was extremely tasty and highly recommended. Unfortunately, after being served, you wave in vain and if you do catch someone, you nod briefly and the person disappears again. Even the payment process took over 20 minutes.

We ate there two weeks ago and the sushi was great. We had to wait a little longer, but the restaurant is very full in the evening. But still a clear recommendation.

The food is really tasty, but also very expensive. Especially the sushi, one or two negative reviews are understandable. That's why I can recommend the business lunch, from Monday to Friday you can enjoy various and very nice dishes for just €10. Tuesday is Chicken Udon day ❤️

Our visit to this restaurant was a big disappointment. The service was unfriendly and the dishes also left a lot to be desired. For 30 euros I got a portion of Asian noodles with just 4 shrimps - absolutely disproportionate. The entrecôte steak was extremely thin and tasted nothing like a real steak. It just wasn't tasty. We definitely won't be back and can't recommend this restaurant to anyone. The price-performance ratio is not right here at all!

Unser Besuch in diesem Restaurant war eine große Enttäuschung. Der Service war unfreundlich, und die Gerichte ließen ebenfalls stark zu wünschen übrig. Für 30 Euro bekam ich eine Portion asiatische Nudeln mit gerade einmal 4 Garnelen – absolut unverhältnismäßig. Der Entrecôte-Steak war extrem dünn und hatte geschmacklich nichts mit einem echten Steak zu tun. Es war einfach nicht lecker. Wir werden definitiv nicht wiederkommen und können dieses Restaurant niemandem empfehlen. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt hier überhaupt nicht!

Fantastic sushi! The portions could have been a bit larger considering the prices, but the taste was consistently great. It was very busy when we arrived, so the service took a while. But the ambience is great. Maybe a little tight, but the room still has pleasant acoustics and it didn't get too loud. The restaurant can definitely be recommended.

Insanely delicious. Service at the highest level. The order was delivered quickly. We didn't reserve a table and the staff found us a good seat for us and the stroller, even though the restaurant was full on a Friday evening.

Wheelchair users not welcome 👎 Although there were hardly any tables occupied, they wanted to turn us away... Apparently everything was reserved and there was no room for my wheelchair. Since I don't give up easily, we fought for a table. But were punished with evil looks. There were always free tables available throughout the evening. Food was good... that's why the 3 stars. But the treatment of people with disabilities, who cannot go to every restaurant for structural reasons, is not possible at all. Felt very unwanted! Probably people with disabilities are not "fancy" enough for "Shiki" 😐The seating capacity in this restaurant is large and maybe you can think about making space where you can put a chair away from the table or park a wheelchair.

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Food is super great, service is not much though. We’ve visited 5 times, and every single dish we tried was amazing. Cocktails on sake are great too. A bit pricey, but it’s better to go once to this restaurant than mediocre cafes multiple times. Online reservation works well.

Amplia selección y comida muy deliciosa, todos los artículos en el plato preparados con excelencia, todo es muy delicioso y fresco. Bonitos vinos en el menú y los cócteles son todos imprescindibles probar. Ambiente agradable y camareros amables. Debe perderse cuando esté en Leipzig.

Went in without table reservation, and the waiter got us a table within an hour. The whole staff was very professional and welcoming. Food was also very good, but some dishes lacked spices. Still, we will come again to try some other things from the menu.

I recently wanted to - after I had taken the last university exam of the semester that day - on August 28th. finally try the shiki. The waiter didn't seem very happy about it and was unfriendly. I felt like I was intruding. When I arrived at the place, I was given a menu that was completely dirty and filthy. It was so covered in stains that I felt disgusted to touch it. The ambience actually seemed upscale, but I've never had a completely dirty menu in an upscale restaurant. Not even in Asian snack bars. Then there were no prices on any drinks. I asked the waiter where to find the prices and he silently pointed to a QR code. For me, cell phones have no place at the table while eating. Because of my exams, I sat at the computer every day for all the months before, I don't have a QR code scanner on my cell phone and I would have had to download it first. After my exams, I just wanted to eat and unwind and not have to fiddle with my phone and download something else. If the waiter had been friendly, I would have done so, but combined with the feeling I was given of being unwanted, I decided to leave the place and prefer to dine somewhere that was friendly to me and it manages to give the guest a card with prizes. I know several people who don't have a smartphone, partly because they don't want to and partly because of their age. So these people are excluded here. I don't think that's a good thing and - as I said - I don't know of any really upscale restaurant where they were so unfriendly to me and gave me a dirty menu. Completely fake in my opinion - it's supposed to look upscale so that guests can get more money, but nothing matches.

The SHIKI is a noble restaurant with sophisticated, pan-Asian dishes for gourmets. The price is reflected in the quality and portion size of the dishes. In short - a recommended restaurant with style and exclusivity.

The presentation of the food is great, as is the white wine (Bacchus) and espresso martini. Unfortunately, the taste was only okay, the ramen was very disappointing (noodles overcooked and broth rather tasteless). There were no extra spices etc. At some point it was cleared away quickly and without question. The prices are too high for that. [Note: providers had my last critical reviews deleted by a lawyer, let's see how long that lasts.]

The restaurant pleasantly surprised me with a cozy atmosphere and excellent service. The dishes are beautifully presented and everything I tried was really tasty - I especially liked the homemade starters and desserts. The only downside is that the prices are slightly higher than average. But for the quality of food and service it's definitely worth it!

I would like to express my great dissatisfaction with this restaurant. The noodles were hard, and the seafood sashimi was anything but fresh. The most unbearable thing, however, was that we had ordered three portions of pasta, but after an agonizing wait of an hour, we were only served a single portion. When we asked, the waiter refused to admit the mistake and didn't even offer a simple apology. The quality of the food is mediocre and the service is poor. Absolutely not recommended.

Luxurious venue in the center of Leipzig, the staff takes the utmost care and attention to the smallest detail and cleanliness in the furnishings and toilet. The service is impeccable and very fast. As for the food, this sushi has nothing to do with what they serve in all restaurants, an excellent quality and flavor, also a brilliant creativity of the chef to adapt traditional dishes with local products, as drinks offer a very wide variety of sake with various types of aging. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try real Japanese cuisine.

We had to wait almost 30 minutes for the drinks we ordered at the beginning. The subsequent service was OK. Food and ambience top! Upscale price range.

The food was delicious, although for that price the portions could’ve been a bit bigger. Staff was very polite and the atmosphere was nice inside.

We were in the restaurant for the first time today. And it was really worth it. Very child-friendly, we were able to order maki on request without any problems (only cucumber and avocado) Small note, the glass with the lemonade (passion fruit) had a small crack and the cards could be a little easier to turn over. But these are small things that are not included in our rating. The service is top and the kitchen too. You deserve the tip :)

Great location, great service, great food. Consistently high level on repeated visits. Leipzig can no longer be imagined without Shiki. One of the top 3 restaurants in Leipzig.

It's tasty, but portion is not enough to be filled. For example the risotto dish, they put one spoon of risotto rice. I asked them if I can get some rice and it was charged for 4euro 😅 It's too much for one rice bowl.

Conclusion: Shiki offers an average experience with some weaknesses, particularly in service. Overall, there are better restaurants that offer more for the same price. Ambiance: The furnishings are fine, neither too flashy nor too simple. The music was pleasant and there is plenty of seating. Unfortunately, limescale or dishwasher stains were visible on the dishes. The women's toilets are beautifully decorated with artificial flowers. There is a staff lounge in the women's restroom, the door of which was open. This led to an uncomfortable feeling. Eat: The taste of the food was okay. The brioche beef tartare was tasty, but otherwise there was nothing special about it. There was no vegan selection on the menu, but something was offered upon request. The sushi fell apart, the edamame was too dry, and the matcha tiramisu was well presented but lacked flavor and didn't justify the price. Drinks: The cocktails were tasty and offered new flavors, but were served in inconvenient bowls that almost overflowed. Service: The waiting times were relatively long, even though the restaurant was only about 30% full. The staff wasn't very attentive and in the end the bill was just mentioned verbally without the bill itself being handed over.

I recently had the pleasure of discovering this Japanese restaurant, and I can only warmly recommend it! The cuisine is both delicious and light, ideal for those looking for a healthy option without compromising on taste. I was particularly impressed by the freshness of the ingredients and the preparation on site, which demonstrates true know-how. In addition to that, the atmosphere of the place is simply magnificent: a modern and warm decoration which invites relaxation and conviviality. A real favorite that will appeal to fans of Japanese gastronomy and those with dietary constraints!

The food is delicious, but the wait for the order was 55 minutes and the check took another 25 minutes. Total time spent in the restaurant is 1 hour 30 minutes. , of which 1 hour 20 minutes waited for an order or payment! The sushi portions are so small that even a mouse won't get enough! For 100 euros there should be enough food for 3 people, but no such luck, everyone went to McDonald’s to eat more! It’s not for nothing that their average check per person is not displayed!

The bill was wrong and food was good. Sadly I asked for the bill and we were not able to receive it as we thought we were charged too much. If restaurant isn't that cheap it should be able to print a bill, but they seem not to have put our orders in the system. Food was tasting ok and portions are small.

We were brought to a table. Then no one came to the table for 10-15 minutes. The waitress gave us tickets without comment. The menu pages were dirty and confusing. We went there again. Apparently no one has that Service noticed...

The straw in the drink was unpleasantly sticky. Girl who cleaned toilet later came to the table to serve. Disgusting.
