I was very disappointed. When I entered the restaurant, I was greeted with a friendly smile. I politely asked for a free table for three. I was told I could sit wherever I liked. After I had chosen a seat, another employee came and asked me to move, as the side where I was sitting was closed. That was fine; I was happy to change. Although there were other tables available, I moved to the other side. After studying the menu, the short male employee ignored me. He walked past me to take orders from the other two tables, rudely skipping ours. I tried to make eye contact with him, and he looked back but remained indifferent. I waved to get his attention, and he finally did. After a while, another employee came to our table to take our order. However, the short male employee continued to serve several tables, ignoring us in the process. It would have been great if the tip of almost ten euros hadn't gone to him, because it was truly disappointing. The food and the atmosphere in the restaurant were good, but the indifferent attitude of some employees significantly marred the overall impression.

The food, such as the Black and White combination, is sophisticated and tastes very good. However, the service leaves room for improvement, particularly regarding timely order taking and subsequent customer service. Furthermore, the 40-minute preparation time for two people ordering the same dish is very time-consuming.

We had lunch at Shiki today and received friendly and prompt service. The lunch menu offers good value for money. Both the duck in mango sauce and the sushi were delicious and beautifully presented. We'd gladly come back anytime!

A very mixed experience in an otherwise very nice restaurant. The welcome was extremely cold. Despite a confirmed reservation, my name was not found, and I was asked for my email, and I had to show my cell phone as proof, even though there were many free tables. I had the impression they didn't even want us as guests. The same employee answered the question "if there was a restroom there" with a bored nod. At the table, everything was also very mixed. The menus (and especially the chairs!!!) were very dirty, which I wouldn't have expected in a restaurant of this standard and price range. The food was good. However, the prices didn't match the size of the dishes. The waiter at the table was friendly but inattentive, so the glasses remained empty, and we had to call the waiter to pay, even though he was cleaning tables around us. After we forgot something at the table, we went back immediately, but it had already been thrown in the trash after three minutes. They could at least give the guest a few more minutes to retrieve forgotten items... Conclusion: Good, expensive food and poor service. Not recommended. Update 8.2.25: The restaurant's response suggests that "they take care of complaints." I contacted the restaurant by email the same day as requested, and the response so far, after three weeks, has been zero. I don't need to say anything more. Update 21.10.25: Still no response to the restaurant's request to contact them, but I received a message from Google: SHIKI is now attacking my review because it would constitute defamation. For my effort to get this review back online, I'm now only getting one star. Sorry, customer service works better!

This has always been my go-to place in Leipzig! I've been celebrating my birthday there for at least six years and have never been disappointed. It can be a bit loud when it's full, but the high-quality atmosphere always makes up for it. Now, people recognize you every time and always offer you a seat, even if there's nothing available. Love it every time.

I reserved a table for my partner's birthday and indicated this. We received a friendly welcome, but were only shown to our table based on my request. It was therefore clear that any requests or comments made during the reservation would be ignored. The food was good, and there was hardly anything to complain about. Only the service was barely present. We're both waiters and expect to be asked at least once if everything was okay with the food. That's a minimum level of service. At €120 just for the meal, I expect that. We're both waiters, and even at our burger joint, you'll get better service. Above all, we wish the "birthday girl" all the best and throw in dessert on the house. Unfortunately, not here. I'm not looking for something for free, but rather a small token of appreciation from the restaurant. We won't be coming back.

Very tasty sushi in a stylish setting. The service was very polite and super fast. A small point deducted for the fact that the restaurant was quite crowded and the tables were quite close together. And I found the menu a bit difficult to understand, meaning I couldn't imagine what the food looked like based on the description. Otherwise, great!

A modern, stylish, and high-quality restaurant. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the service was fast despite the restaurant being full. In addition to sushi, the menu also includes many other Asian dishes. We mainly tried the appetizers. The salmon tartare and octopus ceviche were excellently seasoned, and the sashime had a perfect balance of acidity and octopus. Everything was topped with Wagyu foccatia, truly a dream. We'd be happy to come back.

Great service and delicious, fresh food, sexy presentation! 😍 We made the wrong beer and were given a different one. The gentleman serving us really understands hospitality, because that's not something you can take for granted! Of course, we thanked him profusely because it made us a bit uncomfortable 😅 Also, we left a little after the shop closed (the opening hours listed online weren't quite the same as the actual opening hours). They didn't have to serve us any more, but even then, they were very friendly and accommodating. Our dinner turned into a wonderful experience 😍

The service that evening, however, was so abysmal that I'd rather give it 0 stars. We waited a whopping two hours for our main course. During that time, the staff consistently ignored us. It really felt like our order had been completely forgotten. Our drinks were already finished when, after what felt like an eternity, the appetizer was finally served. Hoping for a refill was useless—it was simply impossible to get a waiter's attention. Every attempt at eye contact was skillfully avoided. When we finally managed to get someone to come to our table, the interaction was brief and anything but friendly. No smile, no apology for the absurd wait, nothing. We felt like a nuisance, not a guest. Conclusion: Even the best food can't make up for such disastrous and unfriendly service. This was our first visit and definitely our last. Absolutely not a recommendation!

Unfortunately, our visit was a complete disaster. We were "allowed" to order our first drink after about 30 minutes. The appetizers were good. The wait for the main course was almost 1.5 hours. The main courses weren't worth the price at all. The worst thing about the evening, however, was the nonexistent service. A complete disaster. We were there for a test meal, with the intention of possibly hosting a party. Luckily, we'd been here before. Any snack bar has better service! By the way, we only had one drink. Empty glasses were ignored... All in all, not worth a visit! Save your money!

Shiki in Leipzig offers delicious food that impresses with its quality and taste. The dishes are freshly prepared and a visual highlight. The portions are rather small, however, which should be taken into account given the high prices. The service is excellent – ​​fast, polite, and always attentive. You feel well looked after all around. In conclusion: If you value fine cuisine and excellent service, this is the place for you. Minor compromises in the portions and price, but otherwise, it's top-notch!

The food is absolutely fantastic. The drinks are fantastic. The sushi is exceptionally good, and the professionalism is absolutely justified. I've never eaten such good sushi. The only negative thing was the waitresses (male). I wasn't asked if I wanted a drink for over an hour and a half, and my glass was completely empty.

The presentation and taste of the food are good. Unfortunately, the salmon arrived almost raw on the plate. When we complained, the plate was apparently simply put in the microwave, and the salmon was still almost raw. Unbelievable. The amount of mashed potatoes was a small spoonful, but they added some upon request. The glass of wine for €9.50 (a bottle costs €7.50 online) is also outrageous. The plate at the next table arrived cold and was returned. So for the prices they charge for food and wine here, this is completely unacceptable. It's a disgrace. We won't be back.

I ordered sushi, it was delicious, but the menu didn't say how much there was, we asked the waiter and he answered incorrectly, they brought us less. Very expensive, some things there are not worth it. The service is terrible, you had to wait, the waiter did not bring one of the dishes that we ordered and brought it only when we noticed it, you had to wait for it for a very long time. The atmosphere is nice, but if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a couple of flies, I don't recommend going here.

SHIKI is a good place – the quality is on point and the service is quite good (especially for Germany). Price-performance is generally fine, though a touch on the high side. Still, overall, it’s a solid spot and worth a visit.

The shitake soup with silken tofu was truly delicious, and the udon carbonara with beef was cooked to perfection, perfectly prepared, and beautifully presented. I was completely impressed by the food. The ambiance is truly chic and cozy—I've rarely dined in such style. If I'm back in Leipzig, I'll definitely be back!

Oh my God, that was good! I think this was the best sushi I've ever eaten in my life. I had a Shiki menu, so I had no idea what to expect. It was simply an explosion of flavor! And the fish was so incredibly tender, and definitely more fish than rice. My cocktail was also delicious. I'm going home completely satisfied! If I lived here (and not just on vacation) AND I were rich, I'd probably come here all the time 😅 I think the prices are completely justified for the quality of the food. Service was appropriately fast and at the same time pleasantly unobtrusive. Highly recommended!

BIG SCAMM! Disgusting client service, treating people awfully. We asked still water we got sparkling, we asked a salad we got a wrong one (the waiter was even pissed at us??). Unfortunately, our high expectations for lunch weren't met. We had to ask the waiter to bring the menu; the sushi was based on the quality of the fish, but the craftsmanship wasn't particularly good! The rest of the food was okay but not worth the trip. My highlight was the passion fruit lemonade. It was supposed to be the sushi. Second attempt today. After waiting 10 minutes for the menu, we left. The table was dirty and the waiters were unoccupied.

Generally speaking, it's a nice sushi bar to go to. While browsing the menu outside, I was approached by another person who said they had come from far away to eat here. So my expectations were probably very high. As I already mentioned, it was generally delicious. I ordered a platter for one person for €35. It looked good, but it could have been a bit bigger, and I missed some seafood. I was full afterward, but not as satisfying as I have been at other places. There was quite a lot of cream cheese for my personality, as well as a lot of rice and a bit too little fish. Nevertheless, it was a nice visit, but I think there's still room for improvement.

A very underwhelming experience. The food was not something to be raging over, the most “impressive” part of our meal being the gyozas. The sushi roll was drenched in mayo. Service was slow in spite of it not being busy…not sure if it contributed that we were sitting outside. The meal price is not a reflection of the food or service quality, but maybe of the prime location in the old city center. However, the inside of the restaurant did look beautiful.

A beautiful restaurant with very good meat. I ordered the udon carbonara, and the steak on it was perfectly grilled and well seasoned. The noodles and cream sauce were also delicious. I highly recommend this place.

In terms of taste, this is one of the best restaurants I know. Every dish I've tried lets the ingredients shine exceptionally. Everything has a perfectly balanced flavor. I feel very comfortable in the modern ambiance. However, the service could be more attentive for the upscale level. I wouldn't want to see the servers walk past the table four times before they notice my gaze and hand.

The worst sushi shop I have ever experienced. I don't even know where to start. For 80 euros I got a few tiny, carelessly slapped together “sushi” bites that didn’t even taste remotely fresh. The fish was watery, the rice was dry, and the portions were so ridiculously small that I seriously thought about where else I could eat. That wasn't food - that was an outrage. If you have so little respect for your guests, you should seriously consider simply closing the place. I have rarely experienced such disappointment. It would have been better to just eat bread and butter at home. It tastes better, costs less and you don't feel completely ripped off afterwards. Never again. Just sad.

Wir haben unter anderem die Sashimiplatte und die Sushiplatte für jeweils 35 Euro gegessen. Was dann allerdings serviert wurde, war sehr, sehr übersichtlich. Obwohl wir keine großen Esser sind, sind wir nicht annähernd satt geworden, so daß wir dann, etwas verärgert, nochmals woanders eingekehrt sind, um unseren Hunger zu stillen. Wir können der vorigen Rezension nur zustimmen. Deswegen nur 3 Sterne....

Wir waren seit Jahren Fans vom Shiki, leider wurden wir bei unseren letzten Besuchen enttäuscht. Die Hauptspeisen werden immer kleiner und sind preisintensiv. Wir haben zu viert 180 € bezahlt und niemand ist satt geworden. Die Sushiplatte (Foto) für 35 € pro Person war ein Witz, preislich von der Menge her nicht mehr gerechtfertigt. Unsere Anmerkung wurde vom Keller komplett ignoriert und es gab auch keine Reaktion bei der Rechnungsübergabe. Wir haben den Eindruck, dass die Aufmerksamkeit gegenüber den Gästen nachlässt, und zwar in Bezug auf die Portionsgrößen und auf den Service... großer Fehler! Leider hat das Shiki jetzt ein paar Fans weniger, die Konkurrenz freut sich.... wirklich schade!
