Atmosphere has remained the same as the previous car dealership. The boss doesn't have any Asian friendliness either.

The Shi Mei, relaunched on the Internet as,, Adventure Temple,, . When you get there, it looks like it used to be, an old car dealership and in the entrance area there is a bar table and an overflowing ashtray. Disposable chopsticks are not new and are always washed. Inside, a lot of old furniture mixed with some new. This is how everything is reflected. Of course you can now take the drinks or make yourself a latte machiato, for which you pay 29 euros. If,, world of experience,, , then too. Eating what is ready could be hot.

It was pretty empty for a Sunday afternoon but the food was great. Service was quick, everything from the buffet was always available and the drinks were cold!

We recently stayed here with 2 people. The restaurant looks a bit dark from the outside but the inside looks very nice and didn't seem so dark. The buffet has a lot of selection including vegetarian dishes. We recommend shi mei and are happy to come by at any time.

Where should I start? We were received very unfriendly. Was shown a place at the back because we were there with 2 children. It was 11:30am and nothing was refilled. When we asked if they didn't open at 11:30 a.m. the waitress rudely said yes, but they were too early. You should pay €9.50 for a child in a child seat who is not yet 2.5 years old. We were regular customers but will never enter this store again. !!!!!!!!!!

Our first and last visit here... Unfortunately, the food was only lukewarm and many of the bowls were already empty... The windows of the shop urgently need cleaning, the outside of the place a complete makeover... Only the super nice waiter made it bearable made! Sorry, but there are many better places!

This is a terrible restaurant. I would not recommend anyone to waste their money here. The waiters were racist towards us. They acted as if they had never seen a dark-skinned person before. They literally threw our food on the table as if we were dogs. They completely ignored us when we asked for something. Never eat here!!

Wir sind schon seit einigen Jahren Stammgast im Shi Mei und sind immer wieder begeistert. Seit einiger Zeit bekommt man für 18,00 Euro ein erstklasiges Bufett inklusive Getränk. Das Restaurant sucht seines Gleichen, wir haben noch nichts vergleichbares gefunden. Neben Meeresfrüchten in verschiedenen Varianten gibt es viele verschiedene Fleischsorten. Auch viel Obst, Dessert, Reis verschiedene Nudelsorten, Suppe, man kann alles gar nicht aufzählen. Immer wieder gerne. Wir können das Shi Mei nur weiter empfehlen.

I was here for the first time today, the food was super tasty and the price and performance was great. Clean atmosphere, courteous service. We would like to come by more times.

Unfortunately, it has now become very poor and the price is far too expensive. 28€ for a 9 year old who only eats a few fries and nuggets. And my 11 year old doesn't eat anymore either. As a family you are over 100€ even though the food has gone down, several dishes on the buffet are constantly empty or you often have cold food. So no longer our regular restaurant. Other Asian restaurants are cheaper and are close to this.

We arrived at 2:10 p.m. and the internet said it was open until 3:00 p.m. The man at the entrance said no, the buffet would close at 2:30 p.m. We thought we could manage it, but no, he didn't want to give us any more space even though everything was still there and there was still time. Went to the concert in Gelsenkirchen today and the restaurant was recommended to us by a very nice driving instructor (Steffi). There is a very tasty buffet here. Something for everyone. Sushi was also very tasty. I can only recommend the restaurant.

So far, I'm going to eat at a restaurant and have to take my drinks out of the fridge in the hall. Of course it's not difficult for me to do it myself, but next time I'll still go to a restaurant with classic service. Kiosk feeling.

We were really super satisfied. The selection at the buffet was large and I think there is really something for everyone. Everything was delicious and was constantly replenished fresh. The service was also very good, unobtrusive but there. We find value for money unbeatable. Recommended at any time.

Today at 12:30 we visited Shi Mei. Price-performance goes, could be a little better. That was a lunchtime buffet for €9.50. Pleasant coworkers. Chinese decorations and music are missing inside. You can forget about sushi, the rest is fine. The selection is quite small and is eaten quickly. We won't visit Shi Mei anymore. Thanks anyway.

Very bad experience! I came with my aunt and my cousins. They looked down on us when we arrived, we asked questions and answered curtly! When it was time to pay, she told me that she didn't have a visa. Except that it wasn't a visa card, I explained that it was my Belgian bank card all day.. Then she said ahh but we don't take Belgian cards anyway without even trying..!! My mother was still in the toilet after we had already been kicked out! 😤 😤 Very very disappointed to have been welcomed like this, I dare to hope that it's not because of my skin color!

Your store closes at 10 p.m., so at 10 p.m. you throw people out like trash? So what are these people consuming in your establishment? And what’s more, you don’t accept Belgian bank cards??? Food was ok. Service was rather poor, as it was a buffet. You get your own drinks here and the selection is manageable. But you can also have specially selected meat and vegetables freshly fried with appropriate seasoning👍 Price was ok.

Really good, large selection of meat dishes, salads, vegetables, desserts, etc. etc. .Really delicious!! Well, you have to block out the noise around you, but you know that beforehand. Not suitable for a romantic dinner, otherwise recommended.

Unfortunately I have to say that my last visit was really my last. The food, this time lukewarm to cold, was partly carelessly thrown into the bowls. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't so busy that the service couldn't pay attention to a bit of "order". The floor was partly very dirty, especially at a reserved table I would have expected it to be cleaned properly. It's a shame but I really enjoyed visiting the restaurant.

I don't think it's so nice that you get the drinks yourself and that they are directly factored into the price (somehow I understand it because these all you can eat restaurants tend to make a loss out of the whole thing and earn money through drinks and now secure a certain amount, but you could rather add a few euros at the buffet and charge for the drinks separately (in my opinion). I find the fresh meat/fish department questionable because I had a bad experience a few years ago and I'm not sure how fresh and good the meat/fish is. I tried it anyway and it was good. I think the selection is great and completely sufficient. My favorite dish was amazing!!!! I'm disappointed with the ambience; for me it feels like a canteen and nothing Asian. I always find the ambience in Asian restaurants so great and special, which is what I miss here. Since there is no longer any service here and therefore hardly any service, there is no longer anyone who you can or would like to tip, which is also kind of strange for me. You go to the front of the reception or to a person and then pay there. I still gave the person something, but there wasn't any service that I wanted to reward. Dessert: I think canned fruit is cruel! I can also get that in the supermarket. Overall everything could be improved. But you can't eat there, it's not like that.

We were there today on Mother's Day. Suddenly the buffet was 3 euros more expensive per person because of Mother's Day. impudence. The plates were cold even in the warmer. Unfortunately the food was only moderately warm. Of course it quickly got really cold due to the cold plates. The fried duck was almost black, very dry, fried. Knife blunt. I'm sorry but we don't go there anymore. Oh yes and last but not least, mineral water is no longer available. Only tap water from the soda machine. This is a bottomless temerity. My goodness, the health department should take a look at that.

For me this used to be the best Asian restaurant in Gelsenkirchen. Now I was more than disappointed... No more restaurant ambience, no service (you have to get drinks yourself from the fridge like at the train station where a bottle opener dangles from every handle...) and these were added to the buffet price as a flat rate. The food is nothing special anymore and some of it is inedible, you have to be very careful, especially with fish and seafood! The desserts are ready-made and nothing special, not even the fruit. No service, nothing. It's not worth it! Better leave your money somewhere else!

The staff was friendly and accommodating, the food was fresh and there was really more than enough choice, everyone should find something here. And then there are non-alcoholic drinks including buffet food at a really competitive price

A successful first impression. In addition to the diverse selection of food and drinks, Shi Mei scores points with its drinks flat rate. The costs must be clearly assessed. The staff is friendly and correct. I like that there is a surcharge if there are too many leftovers because guests shovel their plates and then don't eat it. The restaurant's furnishings need some improvement, but it's easy to get to and there are enough parking spaces. Try it out yourself.

Food was quite good and always sufficiently warm. Selection was large. All you can eat + drink costs just under 30€/person. A little too expensive for my taste but still ok. Unfortunately the atmosphere wasn't that great. The large hall had something of a cafeteria/canteen.

Super tasty.. lots of choice..nice staff..well the ambience is always a matter of taste..I would describe it as cafeteria feeling..or a factory restaurant with an Asian touch..If you don't value a comfortable environment so much, you can eat really tasty there...

The food is nothing special, for the above-average price you would expect something tasty. The selection was very small and the whole visit wasn't worth the money. We were all disappointed in the end.

Food was good. Selection was also good. Drinks included in the price. The ambience is not that burner, converted former car dealership. But as I said. The food was good and there was enough choice.

There is a lot to choose from and it is very tasty 😋. Unfortunately they have a time limit of 2.5 hours, which is really short if you are there with several people. If it's full and you have to wait about 15-20 minutes for the food to be brought to the table or have to queue at the counter for a long time, 2.5 hours isn't enough. It would be nice if it were raised to or at least changed to 3 hours.

Due to the noise, the restaurant is more suitable for children/families/celebrations 👍🏼 I wouldn't recommend the restaurant for a quiet meal. We were there after 7 p.m. in the evening. The food was ok but wasn't refilled when it was empty. The buffet including drinks costs 29.00 euros. I would have liked to have had a beer with a blood alcohol content yesterday. It would have been nice if the offer included one (1) alcoholic drink. I can't give the service a 5* because it's a self-service restaurant. The food was okay, hence 4*. The ambience isn't really my thing, so it's 2* because it's very loud and you can't really be by yourself.

Unfortunately, the service has decreased dramatically since the drinks flat rate was added at ayce. The chopsticks that you normally get as disposable cutlery were apparently used and washed. When I asked, I got new ones to tear myself without any problems. Unfortunately, the tables are also behind them. The veneer is coming off everywhere. Only the food is still as good as ever. Both Mongolian buffet, sushi and the Chinese buffet, all fresh and very tasty. I fluctuate between 3 and 4 stars

We (6 people) often enjoyed eating at Shi Mei, but after yesterday we won't be coming back. Food was cold and wasn't refilled from 7:30 p.m., and you had to pay the full price! The food didn't taste as good as usual. Coffee tasted like water, really horrible. The cleanliness of the toilet facility was acceptable, but perhaps the cobwebs should be removed... unfortunately very bad. Staff continue to be very nice.

We were there today, on a Sunday. There is actually plenty to choose from and the quality is okay. Unfortunately, the tables and children's chairs were not very clean upon arrival. It was extremely crowded and so was the noise level. It's just an old car dealership and everything is open. The staff was very friendly and quickly cleared away the used dishes.

We always like to go there because of the always friendly staff and of course the selection of delicious food. However, you should reserve a table on weekends as it is usually very busy. Update...were there again today, now different business owners but the quality remained the same good.

On February 18, 2024, 4 of us had a buffet meal in the restaurant. After we complained 5 times about the freshly prepared fish food that there was way too much salt, the clearing force also said... it would be a shame to let it all go back... and gave us looks and rolled eyes... then I wanted to Talk to the boss about the arrogant behavior and misconduct of the service staff... no one cared... only when I got louder... I should calm down... that was a bit unpleasant for the waiters. ... but no boss or person in charge to be seen anywhere... WE actually ate here every 4-6 weeks... THIS WSR WAS THE LAST TIME... I've NEVER EXPERIENCED such disrespectful behavior!! Even 1 star for the service is still 2 stars TOO MUCH!!

We went to Shei Mei Essen for the first time today. We wanted to convince ourselves of the price/performance ratio because I found the shop by chance on the internet. The lunch buffet cost €18 per person including 1 drink. The shop looks more like a road stop from the outside, but we didn't want to let that put us off . There were enough parking spaces available. At the entrance we were warmly welcomed by the staff and shown to a table for two and served straight away. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I felt the room temperature was "fresh", as if the air conditioning was on. Personally, when the outside temperature was 10 degrees, I felt quite cool, but I'm someone who gets cold pretty quickly anyway. I would describe the buffet as a standard selection and sufficient for the lunch buffet. The food was at a pleasant temperature, was appetizingly prepared and there was always enough food prepared and food was added quickly. The food itself tasted good, I just found the chicken meat a bit "mushy". I found the atmosphere in the shop to be very pleasant. During the payment process we had a small "discussion" about my card, the manager said that he couldn't accept the card because he thought it was a credit card, after some back and forth he stated that there were extra fees for the card the shop would incur, which would have to be paid by them. All in all, I thought the visit was okay.
