I really enjoyed the Shanghai. Very good, tasty food, excellent wine, super friendly service, and a very tasteful interior. I can truly recommend a visit here.

A Chinese restaurant on Koberg in downtown Lübeck. It had a nice, modern ambiance and wasn't too loud. The prices were a bit on the high side, but the quality was good, with good meat from Schleswig-Holstein. The staff was super friendly. Three of us visited on a Thursday evening in mid-February.

We've been there about 10 times now and have been absolutely thrilled every time. The quality of the food is consistently high. The taste is very authentic and truly delicious. It's nothing like the typical, generic Chinese food you'd usually get in German restaurants. It certainly comes at a price, but it's completely reasonable considering the food and the excellent service. Unreservedly recommended!

For me, Shanghai is the best Asian restaurant in Lübeck – the flavors are absolutely convincing. Every dish is fresh, excellently prepared, and of a completely different quality than most other Asian restaurants. The restaurant's prices are a bit higher, but the quality is absolutely justified. One small criticism: The Apollinaris water isn't really my cup of tea – I'd perhaps prefer a different brand. But that's a matter of taste. Overall: Highly recommended!

Simple, modern, not like a typical Chinese restaurant. The food has a special twist in terms of spices. Some of it is quite subtle and tastes particularly good. But it's very expensive, even when combined with drinks.

We ended up here by accident and were so enthusiastic that we went back the next day. Rarely have we eaten such refined Asian food. An absolute must. Too bad we don't live nearby.

As part of a family reunion we wanted to have dinner with 30 people, which would have been possible, but we were only offered a buffet for 45 euros per person!! We found this to be disproportionately expensive, even for a high-class Chinese restaurant, especially since many older people in the group only eat a little or small portions. A menu selection with fewer or cheaper dishes was also not possible. We therefore assumed that such events were not welcome in this house and looked for an alternative. Therefore, we cannot comment on the quality of the food or service. With a little concession, the restaurant could not only have done good business, but also gained new customers. Too bad.

I had an appointment there for dinner on Monday. It was just TOP!

Great food, with variations, simply delicious. The ambience is modern, but still with Asian flair. Very friendly and courteous service towards the guest, perhaps critical conversations with the staff should not necessarily be carried out in the guest's field of vision.

Dieses Restaurant hat mich auf ganzer Linie begeistert. Die Atmosphäre ist modern und dennoch gemütlich, mit einem authentischen Touch, hochwertiger Einrichtung, das das Gesamterlebnis abrundet. Der Service war außergewöhnlich – aufmerksam, freundlich und stets mit einem Lächeln. Das Essen war erstklassig: kreative, perfekt abgestimmte Gerichte, die sowohl geschmacklich als auch optisch ein Highlight waren. Jeder Bissen war ein Genuss! Besonders beeindruckend war die Weinauswahl, die perfekt zu den Speisen passte. Ein absolutes Muss für Feinschmecker und alle, die Wert auf Qualität, Geschmack und exzellenten Service legen. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Food was good but for Chinese Food too expensive.

The service was very friendly, courteous and helpful, the food is very tasty and the portions are more than sufficient.

Expensive, unfriendly and not customer oriented The restaurant has a nice location, but the price-performance ratio is simply not justified. The lack of child-friendliness was particularly disappointing. While other restaurants offer small gifts for children such as pencils or coloring mats, here there is nothing at all. That alone wouldn't be a problem, but the way we dealt with our concerns reinforced the negative impression. We have for a significant sum OVER €300!! ate and had to pack two dishes because they weren't eaten. Despite the request to pack the remaining rice, it was simply left out - even though rice costs little and is part of the meal. Who will eat a spicy or spicy dish without rice? A small concession would have been appropriate here. The service was also not convincing. When asked if there would be a piece of bread for the children, the answer was no, but prawn chips were offered instead. I asked for one/two pieces (for the children) until the food comes. Instead of just bringing a small amount, a whole plate was served - charged in full, of course. Such unnecessary additional costs leave a bad aftertaste. There are many restaurants that are cheaper, have friendlier employees and don't skimp on the smallest things or focus on maximizing profits. Unfortunately, one had the feeling here that the guest was not the focus. Conclusion: If you are looking for good food with fair service, you should look elsewhere. There are better alternatives that are not only cheaper but also more hospitable.

I invited a few friends to the Shanghai restaurant. We wanted to try the Chinese fondue and, of course, ordered it a few days in advance. We were assigned a cozy spot at a beautiful and spacious high table in the lower wine cellar. It was set with very stylish china, beautiful glasses, and modern cutlery. Chopsticks were also a must, of course. We sat amidst a beautiful wine cellar and several temperature-controlled cabinets whose contents would make any wine lover's heart beat faster. We were served throughout the evening by very friendly staff and also by the owner's lovely sister. It was fantastic. As a small appetizer, we had the grilled octopus arm and the ribs in BBQ sauce. Very tasty, both tender as butter and beautifully presented. Then came the fondue, which was divided into two pots: one with regular broth and one with spicy broth. A huge variety of different meats and fish were served on the table in front of us. We had everything from crispy Jacob's mussels, top-fresh redfish, wild prawns, beef fillet, chicken breast, a variety of vegetables such as leaf spinach, green asparagus, Chinese cabbage, glass noodles, broccoli, various mushrooms, and even a few mixed dips. Among them was a sensational peanut sauce. You didn't know where to start eating. For dinner, we had two excellent red wines from the house's extensive selection, based on a recommendation. We also added a plum brandy on the house to the bill, and we left the restaurant happy and satisfied, probably as the last guests. It was a wonderful evening at the Shanghai, where everything was just perfect for us: the food, the ambiance, the excellent service, and the value for money. We will definitely be back and can only recommend the Shanghai to everyone.

We ate at Shanghai last Saturday (with a reservation). We were seated at a "walk-through table" where it was drenched in drafts whenever the front door opened, and where half the table faced either the kitchen (not a show kitchen, just to be clear) or the unsightly/messy counter area, complete with a large trash can as a wonderful eye-catcher. Everyone could walk completely around this table. The food... The octopus was quite tasty, hence the two stars. But unfortunately, it was presented with a total lack of love. My main course was the Mongolian platter with shrimp (No. 66). The sauce was a strange mix of greasy and sticky, otherwise blessed with little flavor, and the quality of the shrimp completely made the price of the dish a joke. So, completely overrated/overpriced and not worth a visit!

I did not expect it to be as nice as it is. I was a bit surprised at the price when I looked at the menu after sitting down (I didn’t see a menu on the wall outside). But the quality of food makes the price understandable. This is not just quickly thrown together Chinese food. The waitresses were very nice and pleasant. Every dish I saw brought out to other people looked equally as good as mine. The wine assortment is very nice as well. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. The general customer I saw in the place was nicely dressed and in good spirits. I will come back here again and recommend it to others, for sure.

Didn’t expect this good… It was of course a bit European influenced Chinese cuisine, but the selection of different dishes was really good. On top a real good price performance with big portions to share. Which you do in Asia, but usually not here in Germany. Loved it and come back for sure

Wir waren bereits mehrmals hier und wurden jetzt leider enttäuscht: Der Tisch war für die Aufnahme der Teller viel zu klein. Ein Essen kam, bevor der Reis serviert wurde und war nicht mehr warm. Das zweite Essen kam etwas später. Das Fleisch der Ente des einen Gerichts war sogenanntes „Pressfleisch“, beim zweiten Gericht war das Gemüse in der Überzahl. Geschmacklich ließen beide Gerichte zu wünschen übrig. Es wurde sehr schnell abgeräumt, so dass ein gemütliches Essen nicht möglich war. Wir hatten den Eindruck, dass wir so schnell wie möglich das Lokal verlassen sollten.

2x duck with drink for €82.40. The duck once cost €16.90. Well the quality is good, I'm really disappointed with the taste today. The price/performance ratio no longer matches. And at the end the baked banana now costs €9.50. Everyone has to decide that for themselves. We are disappointed. Too bad!

Fresh solid Asian cuisine, but nothing special. The price-performance ratio doesn't fit at all. Dishes are up to 40% above average. The service serves and serves across the table. Red wine is served cellar-cold. If you give it back, you will be met with incomprehension. You get a good replacement, but when you pay, they try to account for all the wines.

Modern, food no better than other Asian places but twice as expensive. And be careful! Red wine is sometimes served chilled. If there is a complaint, the service lady grabs the glass with both hands and recommends that the guest warm the wine this way. If you let the glass go back, you will be served a wine that is three times as expensive with the comment “that’s what the boss decided”. Understood..

Vorab ein Tipp: Unbedingt rechtzeitig einen Tisch reservieren lassen. Während meines Besuchs war das Restaurant total ausgebucht, und ich konnte beobachten, daß viele Besucher abgewiesen werden mußten. Das Restaurant SHANGHAI hebt sich durch das dezente Interieur angenehm vom üblichen Klischee der China-Restaurants ab. Der Service war freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend, ich fühlte mich willkommen. Die bestellte Wan-Tan-Suppe á la Shanghai (9,80 €) war ein guter Einstieg, heiß und geschmackvoll. Meine GAN BEI DA XIA (Jakobsmuscheln & Garnelen, 36,00 €) waren naturbelassen und erfüllten leider nicht meine Erwartung, da ich pikante Speisen bevorzuge. Da habe ich ganz offensichtlich in Unkenntnis die falsche Wahl getroffen. Großzügigerweise wurde mir auf die Frage nach meiner Zufriedenheit ein Ersatz angeboten, den ich jedoch dankend ablehnte. Dennoch ist diese Geste unbedingt erwähnenswert. Meine Begleitung, die Hähnchen bzw. Rindfleisch als Hauptgang bestellt hatten, war sehr zufrieden. Den angebotenen Espresso, Kaffee oder Tee aufs Haus mußten wir leider aus Zeitgründen ablehnen. Es wird ganz sicher nicht mein letzter Besuch im Restaurant Shanghai gewesen sein.

Ich kenne das Shanghai in Lübeck seit gut 10 Jahren und war jetzt nach einigen Jahren Pause wieder hier. Tolle Lage, schönes Ambiente, nettes Personal und gutes Essen. Leider wurden die Preise für Gerichte und auch Weine so stark angehoben, dass meines Erachtens das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis überhaupt nicht mehr stimmt. Schade, das war deshalb erstmal mein letzter Besuch hier.

Anspruch und Wirklichkeit klaffen auseinander und dieses Restaurant hält nicht was es äußerlich verspricht! Modernes Ambiente mit etwas zu steriler Atmosphäre! Anspruchsvolle Preise die leider die Kochkunst nicht rechtfertigt! Alles in allem eine Enttäuschung für den erwartungsfrohen Gast! In Shanghai Stadt ist das Essen in einem Straßenimbiss leckerer!

First of all: I'm not a fan of Asian/Chinese cuisine, but Shanghai has proven that it's delicious and fresh but can become an addiction 😋 You will be warmly welcomed and seated quickly. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone. There are typical dishes that you would expect in a Chinese restaurant, but everything is freshly cooked and glutamate-free! The portions are large enough and the price is more than fair. I think it could easily cost €2-3 more given the quality. The dessert menu is expandable, but still delicious. The wine selection is particularly impressive, something you wouldn't expect to find in a Chinese restaurant. No matter whether Germany, France, Austria, red or white. The owner provides comprehensive advice on the wines and we found the ideal accompaniment to the meal! Overall, a very familiar atmosphere: friends and acquaintances come over, tables are pushed together. We didn't miss anything! We always enjoy coming back and are pleased that Chinese cuisine is not always just an all-you-can-eat buffet. Keep it up!

After the many positive reports, we expected something different. 3 people had 3 completely different dishes but all with the same brown sauce. It didn't taste fresh. We found the prices to be much too high. Too bad.

The food is extremely delicious. For example, try the crispy duck on a bed of vegetables (No.: 61). For a special occasion, I recommend the Peking duck. I don't remember exactly how many courses there were, at least there were a lot of them and it was a special experience. The service is very accommodating and you feel very well looked after. The atmosphere is exceptionally cozy. Going to the toilet is very interesting because there are glass wine cabinets everywhere. I found it adventurous in a good sense and it's impressive. I think it's heaven for lovers of good wine. Unfortunately you have to reserve a table but it's worth it. Don't miss this.

Funny management! Before yesterday we wanted to eat in Shanghai and first found out about the opening times. No problem: open! So reserve a table quickly. No problem either. A short time later we are standing in front of the restaurant. Dark windows, no one inside, and a sign on the glass door: WORK HOLIDAYS. Desværre besøgte vi dette sted til stor ærgrelse for både smagsløg og pengepung. Når man driver en butik med kinesisk mad i den prisklasse bør man gøre sig mere umage med både tilberedning, smag, servering og anretning - det virker som om at der bare skal smides noget på bordet så pengene kan komme i kassen så hurtigt som muligt. Vi bestilte 2 retter til deling - en med svinekød og en med kylling - det var same same billige ris, billige grønsager, fedt og en sød klistret sovs der smagte af lige præcis ingenting. Aldrig i vores liv har vi fået så dyr og dårlig kinesisk mad - ikke engang i Spanien hvor vi har spist buffet til 8 € pr mand. Hvis denne butik skulle være den bedste i området tør jeg slet ikke tænke på hvordan standarden er på de andre. Trist at der ikke er mere stolthed i køkkenet end at udsigten til hurtige penge er vigtigere.

Sehr netter Empfang, gute Karte, die abweicht von den ewig gleichen Karten von üblichen China-Retaurants. Preise sind zwas gehoben, aber das Niveau der Speisen ist entsprechend. Besonders lecker: Nr. 82: Gebratener Reis mit geschnetzeltem Entenfleisch, Ei und Gemüse! Sehr nette Bedienung! Rstaurant liegt in der Innenstadt direkt an einer Bushaltestelle!

Even before the lockdown, you could eat well in Shanghai. The time off was used to spice up the interiors and raise the style a bit. Due to the Corona regulations, you will be met at the entrance (you are welcome to keep it that way) and accompanied to the table. The place is already set with a napkin and a “cutlery bench” (spoon, fork and chopsticks). After ordering, it doesn't take long for the food to be delivered. Unfortunately there are only two vegetarian dishes on the menu. There could be more to come. The food is good, the service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is pleasant. A successful evening.

Delicious food and good portions for the price

I tried to call to see if they were open and no one answered the phone. On Google it says they are still open for 1 hour. We came by and they had just closed, even though it said on the door that they would still be open for another hour. Great waste of time

Good quality of vegetables, fresh. Well cooked - the food is not oily like you would expect from other Chinese. Ambiance: pleasantly stylish. Gentle, unobtrusive music. The numerous wine temperature cabinets are worth highlighting. There are also additional wine cabinets and wine boxes in the basement. Interesting detail: dogs are also welcome in this restaurant.

A Chinese restaurant with a difference. High-priced dishes with good taste and fresh ingredients are in stark contrast to the strange concept of hospitality. If you like an original Chinese grandmother as a supervising dining companion, you will find exactly that here. Feelings such as unsympathy and observation alternate with excessive service thoughts, with everything being taken from the table that has not yet been eaten or drunk. At the reserved time the table was still occupied, guests were then urged to leave... that's what happens to the welcome guest. Our table probably also had a certain time window, which was not communicated, but was made unmistakably clear by the very disruptive behavior of the service team. The price is unreasonably high, despite VAT adjustments and inflation. Two people, two starters, a shared main course, drinks, no dessert..., price about €70. Please decide for yourself. Not that Shanghai needs any more positive reviews. I have never had better Chinese food in Germany. Service on point in a crowded place, ambience modern and well-kept. What should be highlighted is the excellent wine selection.

Wir haben einen schönen Abend im Shanghai verbracht auf unserer Rundreise. Bei allem Guten, was wir über Ambiente, Service und Geschmack sagen können, ist der Preis von Huhn mit Paprika u Cashews mit 23.50 hoch angesetzt. 2 Personen 3 Getränke ( Bier ), 2 Vorspeisen und 2 Hauptgerichte für 90.00 € - mir war es zuviel

Ein sehr guter Chinese mit ausschließlich a la Carte Speisen. Die Speisen sind qualitativ überdurchschnittlich hoch. Sowohl von Zubereitung und Geschmack. Das hat natürlich seinen Preis und rechtfertigt meines Erachtens auch das höhere Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis.

Essen war echt lecker , aber der Service unter aller Sau. Da wird man in so manchen Fastrestaurants besser bedient

Was soll ich sagen - ich war 2mal dort, einmal war das Essen überzeugend, beim 2ten Mal (ausgerechnet, als ich meine Familie dabei hatte, da ich dachte, in Lübeck endlich ein gutes, chinesisches Restaurant gefunden zu haben) waren die Vorspeisen lecker - daher auch noch 3 Sterne, alle Hauptgerichte jedoch völlig überzuckert. Kurz: süße Pampe. Es war einfach schade um Fleisch und Gemüse und kein Vergleich zum ersten Besuch. Service und Ambiente waren gut. Dennoch wird es von uns bei so stark schwankenden Qualität des Essens keinen weiteren Besuch geben.

Selten so gut gegessen. War ein wahres Gedicht. Wir kommen wieder.

Нас было двое и нам все понравилось. Вино было вкусным. Мои креветки в соусе с овощами и грибами и курица в кляре для моего друга были отлично приготовлены. Рисовый шнапс 😉в заключение рекомендую. А еще у них туалет внизу и там много красивых коробок с алкоголем как в фильмах про гангстеров во времена сухого закона в Америке.

Taste not special. We got rice not well cooked. Very poor. As Asian we know how should cooked rice be. It is not like pasta where you can eat it aldente. The price is costly and overrated.

Ich liebe dieses Restaurant, war jedes Jahr zu meinem Geburtstag und während der Weihnachtszeit dir essen Da es leider keine Mittagskarte mehr gibt und die Preise mir für ein Mittagessen einfach zu teuer sind, werde ich das erste Mal seit Bestehen dort nicht essen gehen.Wie wird das bloss erst ab Januar mit der neuen Mehrwertsteuer???

Guter Chhinese in der Lübecker Altstadt. Das Restaurant ist wirklich schön und stilvoll eingerichtet. Das fängt bei der Beleuchtung und Inneneinrichtung an und zieht sich weiter durch bis zu den WCs. Hiervon könnten sich viele Restaurants inspirieren lassen. Das Essen war sehr lecker und gut gewürzt, jedoch preislich etwas hoch angesetzt, z.B. knapp 27€ für ein Rindfleisch-Gerich mit Reis. Der Service war gut und schnell, das Restaurant wird von einer Familie betrieben. Alle sind sehr freundlich. Klare Empfehlung, wenn man sich mal einen besonderen Abend mit gutem chinesischem Essen gönnen möchte.

Man kann dort sehr gut essen. Das Gemüse ist knackig, das Fleisch hochwertig und die Qualität passt insgesamt. Die Mitarbeiter sind alle sehr freundlich und serviceorientiert. Im vorderen Bereich sitzt man angenehm mit Fenstern zur Straße. Weiter hinten im Hauptraum stört die Nähe zur Küche, auch, was Gerüche betrifft. Die Räumlichkeiten sind originell in einem alten Gebäude untergebracht und dezent dekoriert. Einen Stern habe ich abezogen, da es insgesamt sehr hektisch zugeht, was das Bedienpersonal angeht. Das Essen kommt viel zu schnell hintereinander. Man hat keine Zeit, das gerade Gegessene "nachklingen" zu lassen, schon wird der nächste Gang gebracht. Ein ruhiges Essenserlebnis ist so leider nicht möglich. Es entsteht der Eindruck, als wolle man die Gäste möglichst bald wieder los werden, auch wenn das wahrscheinlich nicht die Intension der Inhaberfamilie ist. Die Gerüche aus der Küche wurden für uns leider so unangenehm, dass wir nicht länger sitzen blieben. Aber wie gesagt, das ist wahrscheinlich nur ein Problem, wenn man in Küchennähe sitzt. Da wir ohne Reservierung einen Platz bekommen hatten, war für uns der Tisch neben der Küche trotzdem okay.

Endlich ein richtiges Chinarestaurants so wie wir es von früher kennen. Und die Auswahl an Weinen ist ungewöhnlich für ein chinesisches Restaurant. Bestellt haben wir eine süß-scharfe Pekingsuppe, gebratene Nudeln mit Hähnchen und Chop-Suey. Dazu gab es 2 Gläser Syrah Rotwein 0,2 und 2 Flaschen Wasser. Alles zusammen für 60€. Für das Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis vergebe ich 4 Sterne. Der Service war freundlich und schnell. Wir waren jetzt das 2 Mal da gewesen und werden beim nächsten Lübeckbesuch wieder kommen.

Also das Essen war sehr gut, nur leider war die Servicequalität nicht besonders freundlich, alles sehr hektisch und ein Dankeschön und auf Wiedersehen war auch nicht drin...man hatte das Gefühl...esse schnell, dann kannst du auch schnell wieder gehen ...schade eigentlich

Das Shanghai ist ein schon lange existierendes, traditionelles Restaurant mit gutem asiatischen Essen, nettem Personal und tollem Ambiente. Der Empfang hat mir gut gefallen. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Mehr Schein als sein. Früher super, jetzt so lala. Viel zu teuer.

Das Essen ist gut, kommt aber nicht gleichzeitig für alle am Tisch. Auch die ersten Getränke kommen so nach und nach. Wir waren nur 4 Personen. Auf dem Tisch stehen keine Gewürze. Die muss man extra anfordern. Insgesamt fehlt vermutlich Personal. Die Bedienung ist trotzdem schnell und umsichtig.
