The best Asian restaurant in Weimar. It was so good that we even ate there again the next day. Everything was just perfect: the quality, the service, the ambiance. It couldn't be better.

A very, very nice place to enjoy lunch and dinner. The menu is extensive, yet not overly elaborate. The dishes taste very fresh, and the spices are perfectly balanced. As for the architecture, I can say it's very, very pleasant; there are many great paintings and drawings that are very aesthetically pleasing.

Super delicious, but the duck was repeatedly very fatty. The desserts are also highly recommended. You absolutely have to try the banana pudding with sweet potatoes and the like. A real treat! When picking up, I find the packaging very, very, very expensive, and the soup definitely contains less than if you eat in. That's the only negative. The staff is always very friendly. Parking is great. The terrace is super cozy.

We ate there today. I ordered yellow curry with chicken. I've eaten this dish there twice in the past. Today, I was served a "curry" that wasn't creamy, but rather as if it had been mixed with water. The chicken was an indefinable mass. After the third bite, I complained about the dish. Unfortunately, they were very inflexible and I was asked to pay 75% of the returned food. After a very long and unpleasant discussion, they offered me the option of canceling my meal. My conclusion is that I won't be visiting this place again. Absolutely not a recommendation!!!!!

Finally a Vietnamese restaurant without kitschy decorations, plastic pagodas and blinking lucky cats - but with a stylish, relaxed atmosphere and really good food! The Shanghai in Weimar surprises with fresh, lovingly prepared dishes that stand out from the usual “standard Asian”. The spring rolls were great, the entire meal was consistently delicious and authentic - without seeming Europeanized. The service is also friendly, quick and unobtrusive. And the price-performance ratio? Really outstanding! If you are looking for Asian cuisine with style and taste in Weimar, you should definitely stop by here.

The Shanghai Restaurant impresses with its sophisticated furnishings, which clearly stands out from the typical Asian snack bar. A stylish ambience and fine tableware create a pleasant atmosphere. The starter soup was tasty and was attractively served in high-quality dishes. The drinks, which were presented in small bottles, also fit well into the overall picture. The main course - pasta with chicken - was a highlight: fresh herbs, a finely balanced seasoning and a perfectly seasoned sauce made the dish something special, far removed from ordinary snack food. The staff were consistently friendly and service-oriented, which rounded off the visit. A restaurant that impresses both in terms of cuisine and atmosphere - absolutely recommended!

The atmosphere in the restaurant was really pleasant. I found it a bit unfortunate that the cutlery was lying directly on the table and not on a napkin. The food was okay, but I found the portions to be quite small. The spring rolls cost €5.50, but there were only three of them - and they were rather small. The miso soup was also limited, although that is understandable. Unfortunately, the green decoration on the drinks didn't seem particularly fresh. Overall, the visit was okay, but not so convincing that I would definitely go again.

Cozy Asian restaurant. Food was very good, vegetables were fresh, chicken was crispy as expected. The portions were generous and the price/performance ratio was good. Only the service was a bit disappointing. The service was very friendly, but we were only able to order after asking for more than 30 minutes and waited that long for the food. We went on a Saturday evening and it was pretty busy.

I would like to leave a review for the actual purpose of visiting a restaurant, but unfortunately this is not possible for the following reason: I had reserved a table for two people for 7pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was busy and some tables were still free. After placing our order, time passed with one drink after another. After an hour and a half we asked the waitress when our food would come. The answer was: "I'll check..." Unfortunately, we didn't receive any information about how long the food would have to wait. So after two hours we decided!!! leaving the restaurant WITHOUT food. We then discussed it further. After us, other guests also left the restaurant without food. Unfortunately there was no word of apology or perhaps a drink on the house... It's really a shame... It could be that a cook was sick or there was another reason for the extremely long waiting time. But: In this case, you politely inform your guests in advance that, for once, it will take longer. Then you at least have the choice to stay or make the decision to eat somewhere else!!!

So for dinner the food was very tasty and freshly prepared, but unfortunately the staff and kitchen were overwhelmed that evening. We waited 1.5 hours for the food, some of which was cold, which was remedied but shouldn't happen with this waiting time. Greetings to the kitchen, there are also warm plates and lamps. The staff and the boss were unable to apologize for the inconvenience, which is to be expected given the waiting time. We weren't the only guests who were annoyed about it either. You should arrange the table reservation in such a way that there are no such long times or at least point this out. Unfortunately it was also very cold and airy in the guest room. But as I said, the taste of the food was great.

It used to be a nice shop and we came here more often. Unfortunately, you can see the decline here over the years if care is not taken. Men's toilet on the left side closed for months, now open again and constantly overflowing. The food used to be very plentiful and - as we know it - on a large warming plate in the middle of the table + bowl of rice. Now only a plate with half air on it. A ladle of rice and half a duck breast. As a family of 4, I now leave around €100 including dessert for the kids and go out and think about stopping at Burger King up the street to get full. Not all of the heaters work and it's so cold that you eat in a jacket. The makeshift curtain hung on the door doesn't help either. The outdoor area has also been left to decay for a long time. In January 2025, after many increasingly disappointing attempts, I was definitely here for the last time.

Only the first impression is good. Very run down in many corners. Inside and for a long time outside on the terrace facade, which could actually be easily repaired with just a few screws. Unfortunately, all of this indicates that conditions in the kitchen are not good. Aquarium completely filthy. The posted cleaning plan for the toilets was empty/unfilled... The sanitary facilities urgently need to be renovated. Despite the fact that it wasn't a public holiday, they didn't want to grant the offer for normal days on the menu. “Let’s do this today” was the very nonsensical reasoning. The food was tasty, but was clearly too expensive for what was on offer. We also brought the wrong food (but our daughter ate it anyway).

The ambience was good at first glance, but when you look closer it's a disaster. Dirty, broken and the toilets seemed to have been last cleaned in October. The wrong food was served and then we couldn't order the lunch menu, even though it would have been possible at that time and day. Some of the food was tasty, some wasn't (there were 8 people). A lot would have to be done. A lot has already come down. On average a meal costs 15 euros. That's quite expensive for rice with curry.

We were in Shanghai today and were extremely disappointed with the food. The ambience and the service were very nice, but the price/performance ratio is really amazing. If you order a menu for 2 people, it should be designed for 2 people. Mind you, €33.00 per person for a mini portion and half a glass of litchi sparkling wine ..........and the taste wasn't that great either, we've eaten better than that........ for that €66.00, never again.

A nice, quiet restaurant a short distance from the B&B hotel. We tasted a lot for dinner. All meals were excellent - Poke, sushi, rice with chicken, bun with duck. Draft beer also OK. I recommend the restaurant.
