We visited Shalimar again on Sunday and were once more very satisfied. The restaurant offers authentic cuisine prepared according to Halal principles and impresses with its quality and flavor. The dishes are well-seasoned and attractively presented. The Butter Chicken and the Grill Platter are particularly recommended. The service was extremely friendly, attentive, and professional. Special requests for the children were also easily accommodated. The restaurant is clean and pleasantly furnished, with a quiet and well-maintained atmosphere. The price-performance ratio is absolutely reasonable. Overall, a highly recommended Indian restaurant in Ulm, especially for guests who value Halal dishes and authentic cuisine. I will gladly return.

If you like spicy food, you might want to try the medium-hot option first. It was quite spicy. It was fine for me. However, it couldn't have been any hotter.

I regularly go to the Indian restaurant Shalimar and I'm always impressed. The butter chicken with rice and fresh naan bread is particularly delicious—one of the best I've ever eaten! The food was very good and plentiful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. There was bread and three sauces as a free side dish. A small, delicious dessert and an Indian mango drink were also included. We'd love to come back, despite the 30 km drive.

It was our first time eating there and we were immediately greeted in a friendly and courteous manner. The waitress was very attentive and brought us a small snack on the house and a drink. I can recommend the soup as a starter; I also found the main course very tasty. However, I deducted a small star because the meal could have used a lot more meat, but that's nitpicking – because for drinks, soup, and main course, €22.50 per person, it's very good value for money. I would love to eat there again! :-)

The food was very, very delicious. I had the Muligatany soup as a starter, which had a nice, creamy consistency and a very good flavor, slightly spicy and not hot. Just right. For my main course, I had the Lamb Karahi. It was delicately tender, and the curry sauce was nice and thick and flavorful. Then, surprisingly, we also received a small dessert on the house that wasn't on the menu: Indian rice pudding with pistachios and almonds. I was skeptical at first, but the combination of light and thick rice pudding and crispy roasted nuts was a real treat. For dessert, we ordered Gajar Halwa. It was the most delicious dessert I've ever had in a restaurant. The service was very friendly, and we didn't have to wait a second for anything. I would love to come back.

Sixteen of us girls went here for my birthday, and I have to say everything went perfectly. The food was delicious and, for Ulm, very affordable, and the service was excellent. We were even allowed to bring our own birthday cake with candles.

From the moment you enter the restaurant, you feel completely at home. The staff is exceptionally warm and attentive, and their friendly manner immediately creates a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. You quickly realize that genuine hospitality is the focus here. The flavors were wonderfully balanced, everything tasted fresh and lovingly prepared. What's particularly nice is that the team is happy to make recommendations and happily explain the various dishes – perfect for anyone who wants to get to know Indian food (even) better.

The food at the restaurant was disappointing in terms of taste, and unfortunately, there was far too little meat in the dishes. And the prices are simply outrageous!!! Please avoid this rip-off.

WARNING: RIP-OFF! These are scammers. We ordered food and it was anything but! We've never eaten anything so bad. In the meat dishes, there were exactly two pieces of meat. And the owner is simply a disgrace. The prices are so high, and you get so little for that. As I said, we've never seen anything like it. All the dishes are made with one sauce and, unfortunately, aren't what you'd expect from a dish.

All in all, everything was great. Fast, friendly service. Delicious food. Dessert was on the house. The restrooms were very, very clean! Great restaurant.

Hello and greetings, it's finally time for a detailed review of an Ulm restaurant by yours truly. Today, after a long absence, we went to Shalimar in the glorious Weststadt district of Ulm, and oh boy, I can tell you, it was worth it. First of all, the most important thing: The food is absolutely amazing! At what I consider to be the best Indian restaurant in the city, a Bollywood experience is guaranteed for your taste buds. The variety of dishes is overwhelming, and I haven't had a single person dissatisfied with their meal, no matter what they ordered. From spicy to mild, vegetarian/vegan, warm starters to the best mango lassi in the EU West, everything is offered here. While the decor is relatively simple, the lingering experience doesn't feel boring or uncomfortable at all—quite the opposite. If you're ever bored, your companion is in the bathroom, or addicted to Instagram Reels and ignoring you, you can always stare out the window to observe the bustling Westplatz and lose yourself in a daydream. It's also worth mentioning how friendly all the staff here are, who make your stay the icing on the cake after our famous mango lassi. Considering that the prices at Shalimar (despite the ubiquitous price increases in many different areas of life in recent months) have remained relatively affordable even since the pandemic, this hopefully completes my warmest recommendation for this restaurant! I wish you a lot of fun escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and I bid you farewell with my usual optimism and best wishes!

I found the food super tasty, great value for money, and generous portions. The only drawback is the somewhat inattentive service. We probably would have had something more to drink if we had been asked again (and we had already actively reordered once).

The food comes from somewhere else, and the staff is extremely rude, illiterate, and uneducated. This type of restaurant should not exist in Ulm, so I regret going there.

This is a Indian and Pakistan restaurant with simple surrounding. Keep in mind that the food you can be Indian of Pakistani. The quality of the food is tasteful and the lamb curry was delicious. The only negative was that they do not have a beer of other kind of alcohol. Good value for money.

Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere - but we were a bit disappointed with the food: The sauce was quite good, but... the meat quality was inferior (sticky meat, and also relatively few and small pieces). We talked to the waiter about this and he said the meat source might change in the future because they had already noticed it themselves and other guests had probably already complained about it. We'll be happy to come back if the problem is resolved.

We like to come here again and again. This is the best Indian restaurant in a very large area (far beyond Augsburg)!! The dishes always taste a little bit different, so you can see that everything is prepared super fresh. The friendliness of the owners is also first class! We will keep coming back!!

The food in the restaurant tasted good, but unfortunately there wasn't enough chicken in the dishes. In addition, the service took a long time - we had to wait almost an hour for our food. That was really annoying, especially when you're hungry. Nevertheless, the employees were very friendly and helpful. However, the price-performance ratio was not right: the price was simply too high for the portion size and the long waiting time. If the wait was shorter, the portions more generous, and the prices more reasonable, it would be a much better experience.

I regularly order meals here to pick up. It always takes 20 minutes until you can pick up your food and the restaurant is extremely reliable. If you get there too early, you'll get a mango lassi to wait for you. The staff at this restaurant are above average friendly and not hectic at all. There is generally a pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant. We always order the same 2 vegetarian dishes and they are to die for every time: karahi paneer and vegetable korma. The portions are always sufficient, but usually enough that I can still eat it the next day.

We were on the way back from our vacation and discovered this Indian guy. The food was great, very well seasoned, our wishes were catered for. The service was exceptionally friendly. The food was really good, but unfortunately the service left a lot to be desired. We arrived at 6:50 p.m. and the food didn't arrive until 8:30 p.m. We also had to wait a long time to drink and some glasses were still missing. Of course, Saturdays are always busier, but unfortunately there were still disproportionate waiting times.
