Sel Kebap's in Hamburg

If the men have a motivated day, then the kebab tastes great. Just the right amount of sauce, the meat freshly cut and, if you're very lucky, a "we'll do it" after you've expressed your wishes. Otherwise, the employees are mostly very unfriendly, very, very lazy and don't put much effort into preparing the kebab. The older gentlemen are the lesser evil, but the short, full-bearded man and the lanky young man don't go at all. They are always very unfriendly and don't have much interest in their job. With them you can be sure that the meat has already been pre-cut and has been lying in the tub for half an eternity and is drier than the Sahara. Unfortunately, I still enjoy coming back because the sauces and bread taste very good. The bread is wafer-thin (if it's toasted properly, it always depends on the enthusiasm of the employees. If it's not toasted properly, half the bread falls apart and is no fun to eat) the pineapple curry sauce in combination with the The hot sauce tastes amazing and I have never eaten it anywhere else. The veal (if it is freshly cut) is juicy, tasty and goes very well with the sauces. I hope that the boss will go through the reviews and maybe say something about it. I would come a lot more often if the gentlemen performed consistently and were friendlier. Delicious food is no longer everything these days. Service also plays an important role in ensuring longevity. ---------------------------- Addendum: The quality of the meat has now become really bad. At least with the veal skewer. It is no longer advertised as in the past and proudly declared with a sign "100% layered meat". The veal skewer now has a very high proportion of minced meat. You can see, smell and taste it straight away. We haven't been going there recently because we've found this meat skewer twice in a row. It has now become the norm to sell the skewer. We definitely don't like it. It's a shame, it was my favorite kebab shop.

Not the best kebap I've eaten in my life. And the waiter was frustrated that we asked for a lot of toppings in the sandwich... you're supposed to fill it as you want, bro... the customer is king (to a certain extent), so stop pulling Shut up and do what you're told and everything will be fine. Unfortunately, what was once Hamburg's best kebab has declined somewhat. The kebab still tastes very good, but the hygiene standards are unfortunately in need of improvement (dirty sauce containers are refilled, hand hygiene). Staff varies between 11/10 and 3/10 depending on the time of day and individual. I will come back at regular intervals because I want the old days back and don't give up hope <3

Best kebab, abnormally correct!!!

I recently ordered 5 large kebabs and all 5 were inedible. The gentleman scraped the burnt remains off the other skewer and put them in our kebab, even though there was a skewer with fresh meat. It was like chewing on tree bark or chips. It had nothing to do with a real kebab. He should have told me there was no more meat instead of giving me this inedible food. I would prefer to give 0 stars for this. You don't do it.

Since it's no longer pure layered meat, it no longer tastes like it used to, which is a shame :-(

For me it's one of the few really good kebabs in Hamburg.

The staff was friendly, no complaints about that. But I ordered a döner box, and despite asking for fewer fries, they put in so many that I had to search carefully to find the döner pieces and salad.

We eat there as a family once a week and it's fantastic. The meat is juicy and perfectly seasoned. The garlic sauce is my favorite and you can tell that everything is fresh. We always like to come back.

We've often bought kebab here when nothing else was available in the evening. Yesterday (September 1st, 2024) I bought another Durüm kebab but the meat was of such poor quality that you could hardly chew it and we spit half of it out onto the plate while eating. No idea if you changed the meat supplier, but I can't remember it ever being THAT BAD! It was just fat and gristle, completely inedible. 🤢 Guys, you're really making the wrong savings here if you believe that you can fool your customers and that no one will notice! Won't be coming back for a while. Hopefully you'll have decent goods again at some point, then maybe we'll try it again.

Correction from 5 to 3 stars (8/11/24): It's developing really negatively! Prices have risen significantly, quality has gone down. More and more often you don't get fresh meat cut off, but rather from the pile that is already lying at the bottom of the spit. Doner kebabs are significantly less filled. Meat is now packed into a cup like this, then into the bread. Hygienically questionable and you get significantly less meat than before. Extra meat 2€! The last few times the employees worked really carelessly and sometimes even made orders incorrectly. There are plenty of other kebab shops nearby, what's wrong with you that you're getting so bad???

The salad in the kebab was crisp and fresh, the meat was okay, although there was a relatively high proportion of minced meat. Flatbread is extra thin and crispy. The hot sauce is not spicy, too sweet for me and kind of reminds me of a certain well-known brand of spiced ketchup with 4 letters. The price of the kebab is quite high.

Food/Quality: Food was ready quickly and looked appealing too. However, for my taste everything was relatively bland. You can definitely eat it well, but in my opinion you could get a lot out of it with various spices. The meat was good too. For me the best kebab in the area. Delicious meat (no minced meat) and the sauces are not heavily sweetened like in other kebab shops. The homemade Fallafel are also very tasty if you don't want to eat meat.

For me it's still the tastiest kebab in Hamburg. I'm here several times a month. Everything is fresh, delicious and the halloumi Dürüm is really a decent portion at a justifiable price. And the guys behind the counter are always friendly despite the stress. I am and will remain a loyal customer, even if it takes a while

The quality of the meat has completely deteriorated. Likewise, the bread from the kebab is no longer as crispy as before. Unfortunately, it's also really exhausting that the employees don't really listen to you. The kebab still tastes good but it was definitely better. It's also a shame that in many other restaurants the portions have become smaller. Btw. Maybe it could be cleaned a little more regularly.

Actually a delicious kebab, but unfortunately an artificial queue is created on site, which means you sometimes have to wait over 20 minutes for no reason! Top kebab man with fair prices! It's been a long time since I've had meat this good... Extra bonus points for having cheese on the menu at Dürüm and putting the sauce on the bread first instead of after filling it. A few other kebab shops should take a cue from this instead of selling their dirty minced meat for 10 euros!

We were actually regular customers at Sel. Unfortunately, the quality continues to decline. The more crowded the store, the more stressed the employees seem and unfortunately the taste suffers as a result. Dürüm is no longer "reheated", fries are no longer crispy because everything has to happen very quickly. It also feels like the dice are being rolled when it comes to prices. We have often paid different prices for two menus. A pity!

Be careful of this store. If you don't accept the horrendous prices for a small bowl of kebab you will be insulted in Turkish. When I tried to pay with change, I was touched and threatened. I will file a complaint against this store. The toilets are also more than unkempt, the public order office needs to take a look at this shop, raw meat was also sold. Conclusion: mega unfriendly customer contact with an insulting character and dirty toilets. Plus a kebab man who threatens you with physical violence. I can't imagine a better kebab shop.

One of the best Kebaps we've had in Hamburg so far. Very clean and nice restaurant. The Kebap was fresh and tasted good, with a good choice of sauces. Next time we're gonna try the Halloumi, which also looks very good. Can definitely recommend eating here and will return soon!

We were there the day before yesterday around 12:30 p.m. and ate a kebab. It was tasty, but the meat was probably not completely grilled (cooked), after 2 to 2.5 hours I suddenly felt really bad. Unfortunately the end of the song was food poisoning with severe vomiting, stomach pain, fever etc. Unfortunately it could only have been from the kebab, I didn't eat anything else or have breakfast that day! REALLY a shame, we knew the kebab shop from before and have always been satisfied. We won't come back.

L'accueil est chaleureux et atteint son public, mais étant fana d'un service plus personnalisé et d'une ambiance plus chaleureuse, je ne peux que leur faire perdre des étoiles sur ces points. La nourriture, quant à elle, est injouable. Un kebab de qualité. La tendresse de la viande mais aussi son agressivité en bouche constituent un paradoxe qui pourrait nous déconcentrer de celle-ci, mais le goût de la viande nous garde concentré. En somme, je n'ai jamais mangé quelque chose de tel en France, à goûter absolument en cas de voyage à Hambourg, privilégiez peut-être le fait de manger hors du restaurant !

Sehr leckeres Essen! Kein 0-8-15 Döner, sondern mal getraut mehr als den Standard hineinzugeben. Scheinen recht viel selbst zu machen und trotzdem das für ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis. Allerdings muss bei Lieferung mit etwas mehr Zeit gerechnet werden, da (bei uns Lieferando) länger braucht als angegeben -> Verzögerung durch Lieferando nicht der Laden!

Ich war heute Mal wieder nach einer Weile Gast. Das Essen war lecker -wie immer- und schnell zubereitet. Bei meiner Ankunft war die Toilette besetzt, also habe ich zuerst etwas zu Essen geholt und dann auch erstmal gegessen mit Blick auf die Toilette. Mehrere Gäste wollten das WC nutzen, jedoch war dieses besetzt, ohne, dass jemand raus kam. Nach etwa einer Stunde habe ich den Imbiss verlassen und die Mitarbeiter auf diesen Umstand aufmerksam gemacht. Diese haben scherzhaft Mutmaßungen angestellt, wie lange jemand auf Toilette sein könnte. Daraus soll jeder seine Schlüsse ziehen, ich werde jedenfalls nicht wieder kommen -schade-, auch Freunden hat es hier sehr gut geschmeckt.
