The hike to the Rachlalm is a wonderful excursion into the Chiemgau Alps – ideal for nature lovers and connoisseurs. Landscape & Trail: The ascent leads through varied terrain: shady forest paths, sunny alpine meadows, and beautiful panoramas of Lake Chiemsee and the Achental Valley. Depending on the starting point (e.g., Grassau, Rottau, or the Hochplattenbahn valley station), the walking time is between 1 and 1.5 hours. The trail is moderately steep, well-signposted, and also manageable for families with some fitness. Refreshments: At the top, the rustic Rachlalm awaits you with a cozy terrace, views of the surrounding mountains, and a fine selection of snacks, homemade cheese, cakes, and drinks. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed. Difficulty: Easy to moderate. Surefootedness is recommended in wet conditions, as some sections can be slippery. Best time: Spring to fall, when the alpine pastures are open (usually mid-April to mid-October). Weekdays are often quieter than weekends.

DISGUSTING! LITERALLY!!! WARNING, DON'T TAKE A SINGLE STEP INTO THIS RESTAURANT! (0 stars) We ate lunch there today. The meat and all the food were not fresh and undercooked. The elderflower spritzer had no syrup in it; it just tasted like water. My boyfriend and I have now caught food poisoning 🤢. Towards the evening, we got terrible stomach aches, bloating, and diarrhea. The health department will have to visit you soon! This is outrageous for the high price!!!! RUDE!!!!! NEVER AGAIN.

We stayed in the holiday apartment with a sauna and a fantastic mountain view! Beautiful surroundings, extremely friendly service, and the owner is an incredibly nice guy! The food in the restaurant was also extremely delicious. We felt extremely comfortable and would love to come back.

Yes. We went to Messerschmied for 20 years, when the old owner, Luk, was still alive. The food was excellent, and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend it.
