Yes. We went to Messerschmied for 20 years, when the old owner, Luk, was still alive. The food was excellent, and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend it.

A tip for an authentic beer garden – and you can usually still find a seat, even when it gets busy! The beer garden at Gasthof Messerschmied impresses with warm, attentive service and a relaxed atmosphere. The food is truly delicious and freshly prepared. For me, the value for money is also excellent across the board. Although it's located on the street, the cozy design means you don't feel disturbed. Even on hot summer days, it stays pleasantly cool and shady here: we'll definitely be back!

We stayed for one night, and it was a lovely, quaint inn with modern and clean rooms (unfortunately, there's no air conditioning, so our room was very hot in the summer). The building is also located on the street, which unfortunately made the night very noisy. Maybe make sure you choose the other side when booking. But it's a very nice beer garden and the food is really delicious with friendly service 👍🏼 The breakfast is beautifully presented and offers everything you need.

The food is okay. The service was very friendly and helpful. The kids had a hearty gravy with their spaetzle, which goes very well with roast meat. I would recommend a different sauce for children and offer two sauces if necessary. Praise for the preheated plates! The potato salad was a bit too radish-heavy, as the spiciness overpowered the overall flavor of the dressing and sour cream. It went well with the salad, but not overly so. The potatoes were cooked to perfection 👍 One would expect more options as a side dish to accompany the schnitzel. Good Bavarian cuisine doesn't just include fries, which you can get everywhere... fried potatoes or something similar would be good home-style. All in all, the menu is missing a touch of good hearty food and a bit of creativity to treat guests to typical Bavarian cuisine... not everyone is there for a Haxn (a pork knuckle) on a Monday 🙂

We stayed here with the family for a few days and from here we made day trips to Lake Chiemsee (Herrenchiemsee and Frauenchiemsee), as well as to the Bad Reichenhall salt mine and Lake Königssee. The rooms are very nice. The staff is very kind and friendly, making you feel very welcome. We ate here every evening, and it was amazing. No matter what we ordered, it was incredibly delicious. For dessert, we always treated ourselves to Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancakes). It was the best Kaiserschmarrn we've ever eaten. It was a perfect end to our return trip from our Lake Garda vacation, and we would love to come back. Thank you so much for the wonderful time.

When I booked my short break, I wanted something rustic yet modern. And I found it here. You come here and think, "Yes, that's Bavarian." You enter the room, and it's modern. The staff are all friendly, the food is way too good, as the scales at home will confirm. The trip to Lake Chiemsee is short, and other excursions are also within easy reach.

Tradition and modernity come together perfectly here. Very tasty food, good quality and very friendly staff. We have been coming here for years during our holidays in Rottau. You simply have to come and enjoy the delicious food and the beautiful ambience. The beer garden is a dream when the weather is nice and when it rains you can sit comfortably in the dining room. Another week has passed and we are driving home with a smile and a sad eye. Sad that it is over but happy that we will be back next year. Many thanks to Christine, Hanni, Stefan and Pia. Wir waren am späten Nachmittag dort. Es gab daher nur eine kleine Karte. Aber das war überhaupt nicht schlimm, denn diese war sehr vielfältig. Schnell entschieden wir uns für einen vegetarischen Salat. Dieser war wirklich lecker, mit einer raffinierten Sauce und sehr sättigend. Beim nächsten Mal kommen wir gerne wieder wenn es die komplette Abendkarte gibt.

Unfortunately, I have to give it one star; zero would be more appropriate. I had reserved a table for three people, which worked out half an hour in advance on short notice. When we arrived, we were escorted to our table, along with a highchair for our two-year-old son. However, we didn't receive a menu or ask for drinks for 25 minutes. Now you might think, "That can happen when it's busy!" However, the dining room was relatively sparsely filled. And the real shocker – two more tables arrived after us, and they were immediately served menus and drinks. The waitress ignored us, and even a colleague who took the reservation sign from our table with a friendly "Griaßt eich" (Greetings), apparently couldn't or didn't want to serve us. This has never happened to us anywhere else! We then left and weren't even spoken to or stopped as we left the restaurant. What a shame...

Just a review of the restaurant: We had been to the beautiful beer garden before, it's really great! A nice young waitress served us there, she was fantastic! Then we went there for dinner in the evening, and well... First, we sat in what I thought was the not-so-nice part of the restaurant. One side was nicely decorated in a rustic style, like you'd imagine an inn to be, with wood and all, and the other side was more modern. In any case, it didn't quite fit the vibe, and we were seated at a long table for 16, right up against the wall. Uncomfortable. Our food arrived after maybe only 10 minutes, which we found very suspicious. My partner didn't like the schnitzel that much. I thought my meal, the surbraten with napkin dumplings, was delicious, but found it strange that everything came in such a short time. We didn't like the ambiance inside, and the food came too quickly (you wonder how they can prepare everything so quickly). The service was always great, though, and the beer garden is great too.

The chef here knows his craft. The service is also top-notch; you don't have to sit around with a rumbling stomach for long. Everything is super tasty. ☆☆☆☆☆

We'll be back in Rottau in 2025 And we feel like we're home again What pleased me most is that most of the staff is still the same, and the welcome from Christine and Stefan was absolutely warm. The service team from the knife smithy is world-class. From the outside, it looks like a ballet and is super fast. The food is absolutely fantastic. We'll be back and hope to see everyone again in good health. The food is fantastic, and the prices and service are right! The feeling of being welcome is always there.

We went there for dinner, and at first, it seemed pretty chaotic. The staff were wandering around (no assigned tables), so sometimes items were brought to the table twice or even three times. Then I ordered the Swabian pan (pork fillet with cheese spaetzle and wild mushroom sauce) and a side salad. I had to remind the staff member about the salad, and then the pork fillet wasn't cooked all the way through. When I pointed this out to the staff member, she just said that's always the case with pork medallions. I then said that she should have pointed this out to me, as I don't eat half-raw meat. The food was only lukewarm. All in all, I wouldn't recommend it!

A lovely inn with a great location and a playground – perfect for families with children. The food was really good quality, and that's reflected in the price, which is reasonable overall. The grilled meat platter was delicious, but for my taste it could have been a bit more colorful and perhaps a bit more reasonably priced. The children's portion was definitely more than sufficient – ​​almost too much for our 4-year-old. Overall, a very pleasant visit – we'd love to come back!

Wir sind für einige Tage Gäste im Haus nachdem wir 2024 die gute Küche entdeckt haben. Obwohl wir am Abend später angekommen sind bekamen noch ein vollständiges Essen. Es war sehr gut und der Service freundlich. Alle wo man vom Team im Haus begegnet sind freundlich. Also wir haben schon beschlossen im Herbst nochmals zu kommen. Hier passt alles.

Well-known, popular and proven for years. After a long time we chose the Gasthof Messerschmid in Rottau for lunch. Although there was a lot of visitors in the beer garden with chestnut trees, we were served quickly and friendly in the restaurant. A large selection of juice spritzers is great. Even a free glass of champagne was offered for Mother's Day. This is called service. The menu offers seasonal dishes, as well as a nice selection of fish, meat and meatless meals. Served quickly and hot on the table. 😋 It tasted delicious, and plenty of it too. The service staff gets a special point. Service like the bar waiter was very attentive, friendly and quick. Regionaler Treff in bayerischem Stil. Mässig besucht. Auf der engagierten Speisekarte bestellte ich ein Schnitzel mit pommes frites. Schnitzel war reichlich aber trocken und wenig gewürzt, pommes kenne ich viel schmackhafter.

We stumbled upon this inn by chance and just had lunch here. We were served straight away here, but it's just a simple village restaurant.

After arriving in the evening we had a warm meal in the restaurant: sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage. This is a 10 out of 10. I have never eaten such a delicious sauerbraten before. Even though it was right on a main road, the night was very quiet and you couldn't hear any traffic noise. We had a very good night's sleep and went to breakfast. Here too, sufficient and varied, simply delicious. The staff is very friendly, the hotel is very clean and the prices (accommodation and restaurant) are moderate.

We stayed at the inn on Lake Chiemsee for a few days and were thrilled with the price-performance ratio. Our room was big enough and very clean. It is a bit noisy during the day because it faces the main road, but we were also out and about so that didn't bother us. The staff was super nice and friendly. The food in the evening was excellent. We tried different main courses and can recommend everything. The breakfast was also absolutely sufficient and varied. We can fully recommend both the food in the inn and the rooms. We'd love to come back.

As part of our vacation, we stayed in a holiday apartment in town and ate 3 times in the beer garden at the inn. Every time the waitresses were very warm and always tried hard. The food is exactly how you imagine Bavarian cuisine to be. We had everything from sauerbraten, ox shreds, cheese spaetzle to salad with cheese dumplings. Not to forget the fresh knuckle. And we had nothing to complain about with any of the dishes. Everything was super tasty and generous portions. Perfect for families with children: a fenced-in playground right next to the beer garden. A big plus point for us as parents to be able to sit in peace and know that the children are busy.

Today on a hot summer evening at around 30 degrees we spent three really nice hours with six adults and three children in the very cozy beer garden. We had reserved the table two days in advance. This is also advisable during the holiday season as the beer garden was completely full. The food and drinks were outstanding!!! There is a separate playground for the kids, a very nice plus. All in all, we can highly recommend a visit.

The dish we ordered was sold out. The replacement dish was an overpriced senior plate. A complaint was intentionally ignored or ignored by the waitress. Finally, we actively asked for a tip when paying with the card. All in all, not a good evening.

Stopped by spontaneously for dinner last week and there were (still) seats available. Unfortunately not in the nicer dining room, but the food counts. The service staff is attentive, friendly and quick. Unfortunately it's no longer so commonplace, which is why it's even more pleasing when you find it like this here in Rottau. We ate a sensational onion roast. The meat was buttery tender and perfectly fried. Simply delicious. A very clear recommendation!

Inconspicuous but fantastic hotel and inn! Very good food. The rooms are modern, large and very nicely furnished. The staff is friendly. The guest room is reminiscent of a real Bavarian inn, the kind you would want. The dishes are fresh and taste very good. There are enough parking spaces behind the house. From here you can go on beautiful hikes to Lake Chiemsee or in the Alps. Highly recommended!

We were here for lunch, I had crusted roast, which exceeded my expectations in taste and quantity. My wife had pasta with green asparagus on pike-perch fillet, which was so good that she still raves about it today. Highly Recommended. On a previous visit, the rooms were also very modern and the breakfast was excellent.
