Rachlalm in Grassau

The hike to the Rachlalm is a wonderful excursion into the Chiemgau Alps – ideal for nature lovers and connoisseurs. Landscape & Trail: The ascent leads through varied terrain: shady forest paths, sunny alpine meadows, and beautiful panoramas of Lake Chiemsee and the Achental Valley. Depending on the starting point (e.g., Grassau, Rottau, or the Hochplattenbahn valley station), the walking time is between 1 and 1.5 hours. The trail is moderately steep, well-signposted, and also manageable for families with some fitness. Refreshments: At the top, the rustic Rachlalm awaits you with a cozy terrace, views of the surrounding mountains, and a fine selection of snacks, homemade cheese, cakes, and drinks. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed. Difficulty: Easy to moderate. Surefootedness is recommended in wet conditions, as some sections can be slippery. Best time: Spring to fall, when the alpine pastures are open (usually mid-April to mid-October). Weekdays are often quieter than weekends.

The trail leads through beautiful nature, with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and a pleasantly varied route – ideal for a relaxing half-day hike. The section through the shady forest was particularly beautiful, providing a refreshing cooling experience on hot days. Once at the top, you'll receive a warm welcome – the Rachlalm is quaint, cozy, and immediately invites you to linger. The snack was excellent: fresh regional produce, a flavorful mountain cheese, homemade farmhouse bread, and a cool drink – simply perfect after the climb.

The homemade delicacies are a true delight 🤩 fresh, regional, and prepared with lots of love. Add to that the stunning view and the cozy atmosphere on the mountain pasture. Once you've been here, you'll always want to come back. An absolute must for gourmets and nature lovers!

A beautiful alpine pasture for a short hike with excellent snacks, cake, and homemade cheese. Friendly staff and many animals on the pasture that are very well looked after. Highly recommended, and we'd be happy to return anytime☺🏔

A beautiful and well-maintained alpine pasture, furnished and decorated with great attention to detail, originality, and taste. The snack platters are attractively presented and taste excellent. I would have loved to try all the homemade spritzers, liqueurs, and cheeses – a good reason to return soon! A truly worthwhile destination where you can also purchase regional products and lovely postcards hand-drawn by the dairymaid. I especially liked the free-range chickens and rabbits – a real highlight.

The Rachlalm can be reached via a variety of routes, both short and long, depending on your mood. It's always worth a stop. The location is idyllic, the view is beautiful, and the service is very friendly. There's a wide selection of typical alpine food and drinks at reasonable prices, all delicious and plentiful. We always enjoy coming here!

We had a lovely trip to the Rachlalm! The snack was delicious, especially the cheesecake and the homemade cheese, which is made right on the mountain. The animals, which are lovingly cared for there, made the visit even more special. A wonderful place to experience nature, good food, and friendly dairymaids. We'd love to come back next year!

High-quality products, but not very hospitable. The dairymaids were very unfriendly; you felt more like a nuisance than welcome. It's a shame, since the people are supposed to be the pride of an alpine pasture – and unfortunately, that's not the case here.

Animals live there in poor conditions. Locking a rabbit alone in a tiny hutch is not appropriate for its species – they are social creatures with a high need for exercise. The chickens are also in poor health. Hybrid chickens like these require high-quality laying mash to ensure their protein and calcium requirements are met for their unnaturally high egg production. Given the ragged and featherless appearance of the chickens, I suspect that the assumption is once again being made that a chicken needs nothing but a meadow – like in grandpa's day. But especially for such high-performance chickens, that is by no means sufficient.

Unfriendly people. They sit down at one of the two nice tables in front of the hut and comment, "You can sit here in 10-15 minutes." Even though there was still room at the table. Very "customer-friendly." I'm sorry, but I'd rather walk past a hut like that and not spend a cent there.

Super Alm guade Brotzeit und Kuchen freundlicher Service

Wunderschöne Alm! Sowohl die Brotzeit als auch die Kuchen sind sehr gut!!

Wunderschöne Alm, die Brotzeit war sehr lecker! Die Buttermilch mit Erdbeeren war ebenfalls fantastisch. Wir sind mit den Pferden hergeritten und eingekehrt. Ich wünschte, ich hätte keine Laktoseunverträglichkeit, ich hätte mich durchschlemmen können, so gut war der Käse.

Alm typische Brotzeit und Getränke.

Wunderbar gelegene Alm. Sowohl zu Fuß als auch mit dem Radl ohne größere Anstrengung sehr gut zu erreichen. Leckere Kuchen. Der Kaffee ist okay. Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich. Immer wieder gern.

Selbstbedienung ist in Ordnung. Die Preise sind meiner Meinung nach etwas zu hoch. Aber die Aussicht ist super.

Die Mühe aller Mitarbeiter an den vielen unterschiedlichen aber hervorragenden Speisen, selbst gemachten Getränken, gemütlichen Sitzgelegenheiten, schönem Ambiente geht voll auf.

Nette kleine Alm, Sitzplätze nur im Freien und unter Dach. Sehr gute hausgemachte Kuchen und Käse, gute Brotzeit. Ca eine Stunde auf gepflegtem Forstweg, für Mountainbiker und Wanderer gleichermaßen geeignet. Gerade recht für eine Feierabend Tour. Sehr netter Wirt und sehr freundliches Personal.

Waren heute auf der Rachlalm, tolle Aussicht, Super nettes Personal, Leckere Brotzeiten und ein gutes Bier. Sehr empfehlenswert!!!!

Heute haben wir Rachlalm besucht. Alles ist wunderschön! Das Essen ist lecker und die Aussicht ist großartig. Was besonders ist, dass der Käse selbsthergestellt wird. Der Weg von Grassau war auch ok und passt auch für Wanderer ohne Vorbereitung.

Wir waren im Urlaub mit dem MTB auf der Rachelalm. Tolle Tour, sehr nette Sennerinnen und eine spitzen Brotzeitplatte. Toll 😍

Wir kommen seit vielen Jahren immer wieder auf einen Abstecher hier her. Super nette Mitarbeiter. Die Kuchen sind immer ausgezeichnet und die schöne Lage läd zum Verweilen ein.

Bier ist Steiner, da muss Augustiner, Hofbräu oder Schönramer her. Ansonsten alles prima.

Update 1.5.23 Viel unterschiedlicher wie zum Alt- Pächter kann es nicht sein. Als wir ankamen, wurde sofort Wasser für die Hunde angeboten. Sehr zuvor kommend. Auch fließt ein Bach vorbei, wenn es mehr sein soll. Essen ist Almtypisch, Brotzeit und selbstgemachter Kuchen. Für uns ist es eben die schnelle Runde für die Hunde mit ner kleinen Möglichkeit herzhaft zu Frühstücken oder Abends noch ne Runde zu Chillen. Daher Daumen hoch und von Hunde unfreundlich auf Top gesteigert. ‐------------ Update: 5.5.21 Seit einem Jahr neuer Pächter. Man wird zumindest nicht mehr angemault. Ob nun wirklich 'Hunde freundlicher', kann ich noch nicht sagen. Aber man sollte den neuen Pächtern ein Chance geben. Daher mein ein leichte Verbesserung auf 2 Sterne bis wir es geprüft haben. ‐------‐--------------- Das die Betreiber nicht sehr Hundefreundlich sind ist ja nun schon seit Jahren bekannt. Sprich jeder der nur ansatzweise ein Tier hat, sollte die Rachlalm meiden. Allerdings wurden wir nun auch noch 'belehrt', das wir den Weg zur Hefter Alm nun auch nicht mehr gehen dürften, aus welchen Gründen auch immer. Da steht ein Schild, was aber keiner lesen kann. Komisch, von der anderen Seite, sprich kommend von der Hefteralm, darf man wohl gehen. Da hat wohl jemand sein Hirn ausgeschaltet. Wir gehen diesen Weg seit weit mehr als 10 Jahren und werden uns auch nicht darin hindern lassen. Durchaus ist zu verstehen, das Almbauern, durch die kürzlichen Urteile, Angst haben, Schadensersatzpflichtig zu sein, wenn jemand durch eine Kuhherde geht. Dies betrifft jedoch nicht nur Hundebesitzer. Hundebesitzer sollten Ihre Hunde im Griff haben und diese dürfen in keinen Fall unangeleint durch eine Herde rennen, rum Bellen und Unruhe rein bringen. Wir gehen Regelmäßig mit unseren Huskies durch Kuhherden und natürlich kommt auch mal die eine oder andere Kuh oder auch mal ein Jungbulle näher wie man es ggf haben will. Fakt ist jedoch, je mehr man Unruhe da rein bringt dasto schlimmer wird es. Kuh und Hund beruhigen und schon passt es. Sicherlich haben wir den Vorteil das unsere Hunde dies gewohnt sind und den Kühen eher mal ein Busserl geben, als sich hier groß bedroht zu fühlen. Im Zweifelsfall aber Hund laufen lassen und sich selber in Sicherheit bringen, zumindest dann wenn ne Ganze Herde hinter einem her ist.

Wir wurden sehr sehr freundlich bedient und die Brotzeit und der Kuchen waren ausgezeichnet. Selbstgemachter Käse und Brot.

Ich war heute nach fast 25 Jahren wieder mal oben. Sehr schön, natürlich anders als früher , aber trotzdem jeder Zeit wieder.

Wem die Hefteroim zu familiär und zu turbulent ist, dem erscheint die Rachlalm wie ein Paradies. Almhütte pur zum Genießen.

Urige Alm. Leckere hausgemachte Kuchen, Schorlen sowie die Erdbeer-Buttermilch auch sehr zu empfehlen...alles super lecker..Brotzeiten sahen hervorragend aus...Senner/Sennerin alle sehr sehr freundlich. Waren in unserem Urlaub zweimal vor Ort Aufstieg ab Hochplattenbahn ca. 1 Stunde, gut zu gehen für Hund, Kind/ Kinderwagen
