Friendly service, good food, beautiful view...everything was perfect!

Wonderful and dreamy location on the water. It feels cool when you're there. Very good food and a good breakfast (something for everyone)... But the service is abysmal and arrogant!!! The question is, why only in such a beautiful location? If the service staff don't want to work, then please find another job! You should make the guests happy, not stress them out. Otherwise, a cool place 👏

We celebrated our wedding at Seebar Kiel in September 2025, and it was simply perfect. From the initial planning of the celebration to the very end, we were warmly, professionally, and attentively supported by Event Manager Arnd Cordes. The entire team that day and evening was extremely friendly and ensured that we and our guests felt completely at home. The food was excellent, freshly prepared, and a true highlight in terms of taste. The drinks selection was also top-notch and left nothing to be desired. The location directly on the water is stunning; the sunset over the fjord and the passing ships was a particularly unforgettable moment. A big thank you to the Seebar team. You made our day and evening something truly special. We can wholeheartedly recommend Seebar as a location for weddings or special celebrations. Heike & Uwe

It's always sensational here! The food and drinks are delicious, the service is extremely friendly, and the fantastic location creates a holiday feeling.

Six of us went to Seebar on October 2, 2025 (birthday party) and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with the service. Our waitress (the blonde lady on duty at 8 p.m.) was annoyed and absolutely unfriendly from the start. Even as we were ordering, she repeatedly rolled her eyes, shook her head, and made it clear that she wasn't interested in serving us – simply because we couldn't decide immediately with a larger group. The tables weren't wiped down, the waitress acted completely unprofessional and gave the impression that she had just gone straight to bed in her pajamas. It was particularly brazen that she even said she didn't feel comfortable anymore after we mentioned that her demeanor made us feel unwelcome. That's unacceptable – you were almost afraid someone would spit in your food. We would have actually left a generous tip that evening, but with such disrespectful and cheeky behavior, she completely lost it. It's a real shame, because the evening could have been a wonderful one. Perhaps management should seriously reconsider the conditions and service – and consider whether new staff are urgently needed.

I am still dreaming about my Quinoa Mango Bowl from Seebar, it was honestly one of the freshest, most flavourful dishes I’ve had in a long time. The combination of fluffy quinoa, sweet juicy mango, crisp greens, and perfectly balanced toppings was an explosion of textures and flavours that felt both indulgent and nourishing at the same time. It’s one of those meals where every bite just gets better and better. The environment at Seebar is equally as special. The atmosphere is bright, relaxed, and welcoming, with a kind of effortless charm that instantly makes you feel at ease. It’s the perfect mix of cozy and lively, you could come here with friends for a long chat, bring your family for a relaxed meal, or simply sit solo with good food and soak in the vibe. Service was another highlight. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely warm, the kind of people who make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time there. Nothing felt rushed or transactional; instead, it felt like they cared about creating a great dining experience for everyone. Both my cousin and I ordered the Quinoa Mango Bowl, and we were not disappointed. Nina added goat’s cheese to hers, which was such a game-changer, creamy, tangy, and the perfect complement to the sweetness of the mango. Safe to say, I’ll definitely be copying her order next time! And speaking of next time, I have to admit… the last slide is me happily polishing off Nina’s leftovers for lunch the next day 😋. That’s how good it was, I couldn’t let a single bite go to waste. Seebar, you will See me again very soon, and next time I’ll be bringing my whole family, because food this good deserves to be shared.

We went in the afternoon and had cake, which was delicious. There was also a wedding reception going on at the time, so the wait time was a bit longer. Otherwise, nothing to complain about; a lovely location right on the fjord.

If I could, I wouldn't give it a star. In-person reservations not possible. (Or the staff is incompetent.) The staff rolls their eyes when you try to make a reservation. We were asked to "pay" for the minimum amount in advance. No thanks. There are many restaurants in Kiel where we'd rather dine in person. Think about it.

A pleasant and airy interior... There's a main room, an outdoor room, and a room with a disco and karaoke. This establishment is unique in that it combines a bar and a beach in the summer. There's a separate entrance to the water for swimmers. Prices are slightly higher than in restaurants in Kiel. The main room is always very busy... everyone sits close together, but that's an acquired taste. The bar staff is up to the standard of the establishment. Highly recommended!

We went as a couple to eat mussels. The mussels were large, none of them were clogged in the pot, and there was no sand in the broth. Unfortunately, the white wine was not noticeable. Otherwise, we were quite full. We would happily recommend this restaurant. It's not Michelin-starred cuisine, though. For the price, you wouldn't expect that.

Super nice Sunday morning! The staff was very friendly and service-oriented. The highlight is the integrated bathing jetty and the 1-meter diving board. After a long night and a long morning coffee, a backflip into the Kiel Fjord! With the water temperature at just under 18 degrees Celsius, this is a guarantee that everything will be fresh again! Thank you so much for the great morning!

Very attentive and friendly staff

It was a delicious, beautiful, and atmospheric visit. There were two of us. The food was very good, and the lemonades were excellent. We'd gladly return.

Good food, a wide variety of drinks. I had the fish fillet with potatoes and bacon with a nice side of aioli. The truffle burger was good too. We had a nice cold swim in the sea after our meal, which cost €3.50 each.

My three friends were absolutely enamored by the charming and attentive service.

One of the very few places where Kiel showcases its maritime flair. Good, varied food. Friendly service. The only drawback: if you pay by credit card (Mastercard), the fees are passed on to the customer. I don't know of any restaurant in Germany, Europe, or the rest of the world where this has ever happened (always the same menu). In my opinion, this is an absolute no-go. Perhaps management will reconsider...

I was invited to a wedding here and can say that the location is a dream and a must if you are in Kiel.

It was a wonderful "sea day" at the Seebar, as always. Great ambiance, very friendly service, and delicious food, plus the atmosphere was excellent—what more could you want?

Unfortunately, the music annoyed us. There are no seats without this constant drizzle. Self-service is okay. Prices: Small Coke €4.20, 0.5 l wheat beer €6.20. The staff at the entrance (the manager?) were completely uninterested. They could have responded to a goodbye from the guests. Plus: the unique location on the water.

Where better to enjoy late summer than at the Seebar? Wonderful views and impeccable service!

Last night, we were back at the Seebar after a while. The view is excellent and the seating is comfortable. The noise level is perfectly acceptable, and you can have a good conversation. The prices are fair, and our server was very attentive and friendly. Thank you very much. It was just a shame that the far too loud closing music started at 11:00 PM, and the evening was abruptly ended. We'd be happy to come back anyway.

Simply a really nice place, delicious long drinks and cocktails... the nachos are a great snack and are highly recommended; crunchy and come with three different dips :) perfect for two people to share.

We had a fantastic sunset at the white Seebar in Kiel harbor! Alex, with his charming manner, prepared a wonderful, relaxed evening for us. Great atmosphere and exciting views of the ships and boats in the Kiel Fjord. And if you dare to go in the water, have fun! 😄

A very pleasant restaurant with excellent views of the subsidy system. The vegetarian vegetable garden not only looked good, but also tasted good. The burger, unfortunately, arrived lukewarm at the table, but it was still tasty. The service was friendly, but at times a bit disorganized. It felt like they lacked a bit of oversight, but I also consider 12-15 tables for one person to be understaffed. A little tip: When ordering Coke, Spezi, or Fanta, please mention that you don't want ice in your drink. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try the delicious-looking cakes. I would go again the next time I'm on the Kiellinie.

Great location The tarte flambée is good, but the cappuccino from the machine is so watery, not appropriate for the bar's location and the hefty prices. They didn't even have oat milk. A portafilter is absolutely necessary for the price.

We were there in the evening, we don't like this atmosphere, it's noisy, there's no music, guests try to shout each other down. They say that during the day, when there are few people, it's calm and beautiful.

Coffee and cake is highly recommended. Yesterday we sat down for a drink and a hot meal, and I was bitterly disappointed. The small dish we shared, "fries with turkey strips," was a mush baked with cheese and served with convenience gravy. The turkey strips were cut-up turkey sausage! I also had a pizza. Everything was expensive and barely edible; the pizza was so-so. I'd gladly come back for coffee, but you have no idea how to cook. Cheap food and drinks for a high price. What a shame about the beautiful location.

A very special place here in Kiel. The atmosphere is wonderful; this white lakeside bar fits so well, right on, or rather in, the water, and has its very own flair. Excellent service and first-class food and drinks, in addition to the water-based offerings, round out the "total package." Highly recommended and definitely a highlight in Kiel.

it was sooo pretty! the ambience and the location was so nice and a great view while you eat. staff were helpful and its such an amazing place to go on a sunny day. you can also swim there by the way. the food was yummy and the homemade lemonades were refreshing. although its normally crowded so its probably better to reserve in advance

Just because you can digitize a service doesn't mean you have to. Very impersonal ordering and payment process. The tip is decided before you have any interaction with a person. The credit card, as well as the cell phone number and email address, must be provided directly when ordering. Where does this data end up? Questionable... It's a shame, because the restaurant is really nice and the staff seem friendly...

We had been looking forward to a nice meal, but it quickly became clear that this was not where we were supposed to be eating. The music was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation. It felt more like a bad nightclub than a restaurant. We waited far too long to order and had to go get the staff several times just to get a drink. When the food finally arrived – after about 45 minutes – we were even more disappointed. The pizza was bland and doughy, as if it had never really been baked. The taste? Almost non-existent. Boring is the best word I can think of. Honestly, IKEA could have done better. The so-called “loaded fries” tasted like something from a freezer – not fresh, not homemade and not something you would return for at all. The music continued to drown out conversations. It could just as easily have been elevator music – just louder and more annoying. All in all, a flat experience that is not worth repeating.

Delicious food and a lovely atmosphere by the water. However, the staff were rude, which was probably due to the high occupancy, although you should definitely expect more at these prices. The food was definitely not value for money either. They forgot the mayonnaise and the food was half cold, which I definitely expect more at these prices. When I asked how and where to order food, they just gave me a rude look and moved on. Unfortunately, I won't be going back. My tip: order the regional food, i.e., fish/seafood, it's really fresh and warm.

Everything went smoothly, from the reservation to the location to the food. Everything was perfect.

Great location, delicious food (I had the vegan burger with fries and a non-alcoholic Hugo and loved it), and dedicated service.

The location is very beautiful, the view of the water is the highlight. My meal was delicious and arrived at the table within a reasonable time. What was a bit of a shame was that no one asked if everything was okay or if we wanted something else to drink. We had to actively approach the waiters.

The location is great. The pizza was also good. The service loses a point because it depends on where you sit whether you're served or have to pick up your order yourself.

After we couldn't get a seat on the sun terrace, we went to the self-service pier. All well and good, we were looking forward to our breakfast. However... No chance of breakfast because "the rolls are sold out." Sorry, but that's just not possible on a Sunday morning, 15 minutes after opening! I don't understand unnecessary food waste, but having only a limited number of rolls early on a weekend morning is just stupid. Then we went to the forestry nursery and feasted there. The Seebar won't see me for breakfast again.

Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to make a reservation for a group of 20 people directly on-site. The day before, a nice lady at the entrance, quite understandably, put me off until the next day due to a larger event. Today, as recommended, I went back to the restaurant and wanted to make a reservation for a group of 20 people. At the counter, I was impatiently referred to another colleague, who greeted us with a roll of his eyes and explained that I could only make reservations online, that he didn't have his documents with him, and that a deposit of an unknown amount would be required for larger groups anyway. (It should be noted that the website requires reservations via a special form for larger groups of more than 30 people.) I didn't receive any further information because there was obviously no time and it was too busy. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to test the quality of the food, but if it's prepared with the same dedication and motivation, every visitor is in for a culinary journey of the lowest order. Since I want to enjoy the warm atmosphere of a restaurant and not have to wade through forms and incomprehensible websites like I would at a government office, I will now have to look for another location where customer service is a bit more important.

Many thanks to the Seebar team, especially to the one wonderful server who accompanied us throughout the evening. The welcome was warm, the service attentive, every special request was fulfilled, and unmentioned requests were accommodated – a wonderful evening. We had reserved a table for 2 hours (easy online) and, despite the full house, weren't thrown out. On behalf of Renate (who has already given an official compliment), I'm supposed to mention the wonderful server to the restaurant management again. The evening was very important to us. The food, the ambiance, and the service were great. (Only the Aperol needs improvement - said my cousin). Thank you! We'll be back, but we won't sing this time... Maybe not.

Unfortunately, my experience wasn't a good one. Being turned away in 35-degree heat on the grounds that the jetty was too crowded, even though there was apparently hardly anyone there, was a real shame. It sometimes makes you feel like you're being personally rejected.

Never experienced such unfriendly service. We were approached at the entrance with a very rude tone, saying the jetty was closed and it was too crowded. It definitely wasn't crowded, and our friends were already waiting for us. It was a shame having traveled all the way from Hamburg.

We made an online reservation for four people, which worked without a hitch. The location is truly stunning: with a beautiful view of the Kiel Fjord and a very appealing ambiance, it's definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately, the service and especially the food couldn't live up to the beautiful surroundings. The pancakes seemed like they'd just been warmed up. Since no blueberries were available, two strawberries were simply served without our prior notice. Service was also rather slow: despite being lightly booked around 10:30 a.m., you had to actively make yourself known to even be served. The other three breakfast dishes were also not convincing in terms of quality, especially considering the prices. For a drink at the bar or to enjoy the beautiful view, the Seebar is definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the breakfast.

Our waitress, Sascha, was incredibly attentive and courteous. His interactions with the guests were strikingly positive.
