My first time at Ikea in Kiel since before the pandemic. The checkout area was completely confusing due to their own invented words like "Shop and Go." Nobody wants to have to look at information on flickering screens when they just want to pay. My polite pointing out to a cashier that you're only supposed to pay "here" if you have a smartphone with the appropriate app naturally led to a discussion. My argument that the system wasn't clear resulted in me being referred to the "manager" to file a complaint. Here, my argument about the confusion was rejected and, in my opinion, perceived as disruptive, and I was told to be careful with my choice of words. They suggested I could have said it politely. If you're not understood, you have to state your opinion clearly and unambiguously. I could have said it politely. "It should be perfectly clear that only the exclusive circle of those foolish enough to pay with their data is welcome here." My opinion of these people isn't the main point! Please just write: "Only for customers with an app on their smartphone!" What's so difficult about that? The majority of people want to continue paying with cash and not be penalized for preferring the official payment method! Besides, it would be nice to know that breakfast is no longer offered. All information should be available online. But that's not possible? The general tone of the staff is reserved and slightly annoyed. I spoke to three employees. The cheerful Ikea family seems to have emigrated with the pandemic? The concept is still good. And finally, a hot dog...sure...but only with card payment...oh, never mind...

The goods collection process always takes forever; the staff doesn't seem interested in speed. Several employees are standing around doing nothing. Otherwise, it's a tidy, clean, Swedish furniture store. It's packed on Saturdays; even the restaurant is bursting at the seams. Update 2025: No more advent calendars, the coffee is awful, it's even more overcrowded on Saturdays, and the store itself is a lost cause.

I'm giving absolutely only one star (I'd give zero if I could) for their delivery service and all the delivery personnel. I was supposed to receive my delivery yesterday, which I've already paid for, of course. I even took a day off work to wait for it. All day long, I checked the delivery time, and I kept getting told it was on its way and that I was next in line. Naturally, the delivery didn't arrive that day, and later I received a message saying I wouldn't get it for another week. I called customer service, but they couldn't offer me an earlier delivery date. So now I have to wait two weeks for my order and take another day off work to wait for the new delivery date.

My experience with IKEA in the last few weeks has been bad. 1. Since I needed a stain for my balcony floor, I checked the IKEA website to see if the item was in stock in Kiel. According to the website, it was in large quantities. When I arrived at the store, however, there was no stain on the shelves. An employee searched the shelves with me again, but the answer was the same: no stain. She spoke to an employee on the phone, who said it was possible that the desired item was still in the department... Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Another employee then went looking again (a 20-minute wait), but also without success. It was probably a documentation error. I was annoyed and asked how IKEA would make up for it. After all, it was my time that I had wasted (1.5 hours of travel time + 1 hour searching at IKEA). The employee said she couldn't make any promises, so I wanted to speak to her supervisor. The employee disappeared again for a quarter of an hour to find the supervisor, but then returned with the varnish instead of the supervisor. The shelf was full of it. I hadn't looked properly, she said. So I went to the shelf again – and sure enough! A shelf that had previously been empty was now full of the desired item. I spoke to the employee with whom I had previously searched about her colleague's behavior, but she refused to comment. Is this how you treat customers? 2. Yesterday, I received a delivery of a TV bench from IKEA (3.5 hours before the start of the specified time window) that was missing a support leg. I noticed it shortly after the delivery company had already left. I immediately called the IKEA hotline and was told that the part could be delivered four days later. However, since I had already booked a tradesman to assemble the TV bench the day after next, that option was out of the question for me. Then I could pick up the missing item myself from IKEA in Kiel, and the travel expenses would be reimbursed. I asked if she could guarantee this. The answer: "Of course, otherwise I wouldn't be allowed to say that." So another 1.5 hours of driving and waiting at the customer service counter. I did get the support leg, but the car ride wasn't reimbursed. The decision made on site carried more weight than the claim of the colleague on the hotline. At least I received a voucher for a restaurant visit. 3. I then bought a few small items in the store and wanted to pay for them with points from my Family card. Since I didn't know how that worked, I asked an employee at the cash register and was treated with incredible rudeness, which some of the customers standing nearby also noticed and commented on. 4. When this problem was finally resolved with the help of another employee, it was just before 6:00, and I wanted to have a coffee in peace before the drive back. So I went to the bistro to buy a coffee. "The coffee machine is already turned off," I was told. I wanted to know why, since the bistro was open until 7 p.m. "The bistro is open," I was told flippantly, "but not the coffee machine." Conclusion: You won't find customer-friendliness combined with professionalism at IKEA!

That's not so bad, but after walking through the entire store to find this door, there wasn't even a seat in the waiting area. Ikea used to be nicer and much more humane. Shame on you, Ikea...

Ikea has completely remodeled, everything is freshly arranged, and as always, it's fun to stroll through the exhibition, grab something to eat at the restaurant, and drive home with a full cart and an empty wallet. 👍😅

I'm usually very satisfied with the cashier at Ikea in Kiel, but today I was really annoyed! Why on earth do I have to run through Ikea twice just to get a lid for a refrigerator container? I told the cashier that I didn't need the lid and was going to throw it in the trash anyway, but no, I had to run and get the lid. On top of that, it was the wrong one because it wasn't the same number, so I had to run again. 😡 The end of the story... I threw the lid in the trash. Does that really have to happen???

Inspiring like all Ikea's. Children's happiness and stress land depending on whether they get ice cream and are allowed in children's land.. Over the last few decades I have often wished for a men's land.. Table football.. One-armed bandit.. Game station.. Pretzels and beer.. Lights dimmed, men quiet, children busy and women can choose furniture for life, not for the man's wallet. We have a lot of visitors. Almost every piece of furniture has a sleeping function with storage space.. Every table is extendable. Every cupboard has a hidden corner.. You could always reach someone by phone or email.. Back then, just a few years ago. Now there are more and more problems. I don't know if it's the masses from different cultures who have language problems? If it's AI that can never think outside the box... or people who don't want to be reachable - because during Corona it was so nice to muddle along on your own? Ask about orders and invoices? Doesn't work, email contact addresses on paper are invalid. Phone numbers are invalid. Even yesterday the number from the chat boat that was supposed to be reachable until 8 p.m. was invalid at 7 and 8 p.m. Tried calling Kiel from 6 p.m. but the number on Maps is invalid?? Ikea has a big problem that is coming from outside. We and a few others often consider going somewhere else even if it is more expensive there. Reason? I had ordered a table. Took the day off, colleagues were angry, nothing came... it was delivered to my old address. I ordered a kitchen with assembly... the men didn't understand German. Top left is a closed cupboard. I wanted a shelf for the microwave there. They knew how to plug in the dishwasher but didn't. Wasn't that their job? I then had to call a special tradesman for that. The sink was not sealed with silicone. No hole drilled in the worktop for the dishwasher hose? (These people would be grateful if they had a kitchen, even if there was a hose hanging around where they come from - there are no Ikea, ready-made kitchens. But we have European standards, democracy, goals. We want something finished to look like it did before in our minds. Ideally even better). After they ran around in the garden for almost an hour - made phone calls - home. Family contact is nice, we all love it, but please not when you're working, it's distracting, things get mixed up, forgotten. Suddenly they were in a hurry, took money and were gone. This was followed by half a day on the phone so that they would come back days later to make a hole in the worktop. Conclusion: tap upside down, microwave bursts on worktop, worktop slowly swelling after 8 months because the sawn hole never had a border or anything. I believe, even though I thought so, that this wasn't the last kitchen. Next time I'll invite a fellow countryman who can speak German. Oh and I forgot, yesterday a sofa bed was supposed to be delivered for the children's room. I drove all the way from Hamburg to Kiel because it was going to the Baltic Sea. Cardholder's old Hamburg address. Explicitly mentioned that this is not the delivery location. Only the cardholder's place of residence. I drove an hour to Kiel for this. My ex-husband drove 3 hours there and back. Conclusion? The sofa was delivered to Hamburg. The lady was still smiling when I said I had come here to Kiel especially to mention that it wasn't going to Hamburg, but to the Baltic Sea. The young woman smiled, "Oh, okay." She didn't understand. I have no idea where the sofa is now, I couldn't reach anyone. At the kitchen consultation there was also a sweet, smiling young lady who told me everything she would order for the kitchen and for what reasons. What she finds great and practical, including drawers and cupboards? Until I stood up, turned around, and said, "No," this is my kitchen, my idea! Listen to the customer! Reply, "You're aggressive" :) Listening and not understanding anything, a common problem in 2025 everywhere. There are still cookie jars and ice cream at the exit that calms you down :) And I thought I'd take a Sprinter and take it with me... My gut instinct tells me :)

A little insider tip: IKEA Altona often offers these items. You're right in the city center, can park for free in the attached parking garage, and then stroll through Altona.

Ikea Bistro of the Extra Disgusting Class... We used to love eating hot dogs at the bistro after work. Today's experience was a disgusting experience of the highest order. We ordered 4 hot dogs and 4 soft drinks, as well as 1 French fry. Another customer was in front of us. The Hot Dogs homemade sausages were cold, the buns were tasteless. The sauce stations were extremely dirty. When refilling our drinks, only colored water with the taste of seltzer came out. When we spoke to the staff about it, the long-haired, brown-haired woman was more than apathetic about the topic and simply said, "Oh, look at that," to a black colleague. She didn't look, but simply said, "Why are we just refilling?" But neither the apple, cola, cranberry, nor any of the other flavors had any taste, just color. As I was leaving, I saw that first the table and then the station had been wiped with the same rag, without cleaning it. Sorry, I can only hope the health department takes a closer look. We were at IKEA in Kiel for the last time! P.S.: some training in communication and customer service would be good for all the employees there.

The IKEA in Kiel is, as always, a safe bet: large, bright, clean, friendly employees, and the hot dogs at the end save even the most chaotic shopping day. But: I have to admit – I was just too stupid. Saturday. Start of the month. Fresh paycheck in my account. And where did I end up? Exactly, at IKEA. As if I didn't know that half of Kiel and the surrounding area had exactly the same thought. The parking lot should have made me suspicious – more cars than at Rock am Ring. Inside: a stream of people like at a winter sale. Everyone with a shopping cart that handled more like a tank. I actually just wanted to "look around" (yes, of course, the biggest IKEA self-deception ever), and suddenly I was standing at the checkout with 20 scented candles, a plant, three sets of glasses, and a dresser I couldn't even carry. The lines there? Epic. At least as long as the waiting lists at university for the popular seminars. Honestly, I felt like I was almost getting a bachelor's degree in patience for just getting through it. And the best part: After struggling through the crowds, you realize on the way back through the warehouse that you've forgotten the very shelf you came for. Welcome to the IKEA paradox! My conclusion: IKEA Kiel is great, but unless you're in the mood for a live seminar on "Human Behavior in Extreme Situations," you'd better not go there on a Saturday at the beginning of the month. It's definitely more relaxed during the week. But hey, at least the hot dogs at the end made up for it.

If you buy something a little more at IKEA, you can plan on 3 hours for the goods delivery service. Now, a new discovery. Unfortunately, I have a Besta that doesn't live up to its promise. I mounted the Besta on the wall and discovered that it didn't last very long. According to IKEA, they offer a 10-year warranty on material defects. Now IKEA won't even sell me or replace the defective components.

It's no longer fun there. Breakfast standing downstairs near the hot dogs. Food in the restaurant starts at 11 a.m. The store is constantly being rearranged, disorganized, and, in my opinion, the service is no longer there. Everything takes a long time. One cash register opens at lunchtime. And others stand around with nothing to do. The elevator was shut down in the middle of customer service and was temporarily unusable.

Ikea has changed a lot. The restaurant used to be nicely decorated, and the kids' corner was great. The food is sloppily plated. Kottbuööar tastes different, and the portions are getting smaller and smaller. Ikea's furnishings are still okay, with friendly employees and everything organized. Unfortunately, they're often a year behind with the colors. 4 stars anyway, because the furniture is functional and well-designed, even if the prices have skyrocketed, but where isn't that the case?

Here are a few impressions: firstly, the exhibition and the restaurant were fine, and with the discount the price was also okay. We found a very good offer at the Last Chance supermarket. Because we prefer to pay in cash, we queued up at the checkout. There we met a very rude and incompetent cashier who initially complained loudly that the correct barcode was not on top and that we should turn the package with the sofa over. I offered to help, but said that the colleague from Last Chance had loaded the two trolleys that way. Then a second woman came over and immediately started to curse me. I then called my colleague over, and we repacked the trolley without the help of the sales staff. The cashier then told us that we were holding her up and that she wasn't allowed to lift anything heavy. Even as we continued to checkout, she continued to make us feel her obvious overwhelm. The conveyor belt wasn't running properly, and she ordered me to take the small items down. However, it turned out that the items weren't the problem, but rather a reluctant customer separation. We spent a total of just under four figures and experienced at the checkout how customers aren't treated. When we finally left this unpleasant situation, we returned to the parking garage with our four carts full of furniture and small items. There, a man approached us and took the cart from my hand to push it to our car. There, he tried to help us load it. So far, so nice, except he hadn't said at the end, "Hey, tip." I then gave him 5 euros, which obviously wasn't enough for him, and he left angrily. In the end, another nice customer saved our day by helping us tie the tailgate. Thanks again. We are more than disappointed with IKEA's customer service.

It used to be easy to shop at Ikea... This, admittedly for the first time in maybe five years, was the first time that items shown as in stock in the app weren't there or couldn't be found; the info points, without staff, couldn't tell you any more than the app; some areas were simply unmanned; customer service staff referred customers to their colleagues at the checkout counter, and we had to wait for their return, even though the items were marked as ready for pickup and clearly visible on the counter. I can do without service if the store is well-structured and organized; Ikea wasn't that way on this day.

Then, even after 12 days, you get no response from IKEA service, even after the front of a dishwasher warped after almost a year. After I personally went to IKEA Kiel a week ago, I received an email today saying they don't feel responsible. No solution suggested. Terrible service!

A stroll through IKEA is always nice. They always have great deals, and sometimes, if you time it right, they even have new openings. The last time we were there, there was a new opening. Unbelievable! IKEA also has a very cozy cafeteria where we had a relaxed meal. We love going to IKEA.

Everything has probably been said about IKEA by now...😄 The furniture store in Kiel is one of the company's largest branches and, as of July 2025, is currently undergoing a major renovation. In a few weeks, it will surely be more beautiful and (even) more modern than ever before. We are a self-proclaimed IKEA household—and yes, of course, it's evident in our interior design style. But the price-performance ratio, combined with tasteful and harmonious furnishings, still conveys a high degree of style and comfort. There are ardent IKEA supporters and equally staunch opponents of this interior design style. There's nothing in between...😉😉

New findings: A single customer was blocking the sofa, table, and two chairs with her laptop for a long time. I asked if I could use one of the chairs: The answer was, she had to work. I installed the IKEA app two days ago and received a €5 coupon. Today I wanted to use the app for the first time, but I realized the cashier at the app checkout wasn't very friendly (an old Chinese saying goes, "If you can't smile, you shouldn't open a store"), and I couldn't expect any help from her. I had the impression that anyone who has the app must be able to use it. I'm not exactly young anymore, and I would have appreciated some help. By the way, the €5 wasn't deducted either, so no help was provided here either. All in all, I have bad memories of this purchase. Since I've had this experience at the checkout several times before, I'm wondering if IKEA no longer values friendly interaction?

I bought several items today, they're coming with the freight company. But the accessories I needed were ordered for pickup at 5 p.m. in Kiel. When I arrived, I had to show my ID. The employee wanted to take me to the warehouse with my ID. I said stop, they'll stay for inspection. Then it was a drama within a drama. The employee started laughing at me in front of witnesses. I said I would complain, which I did, and who was standing there? The employee said I had threatened to beat me. He laughed again, especially in front of the customers! And so, to me, 100% severely disabled with the AG, G, B symbols and a wheelchair! Well, employees, they didn't expect that! I'm considering canceling the deliveries with the freight company! First cancellation completed, every other furniture store takes my money! Picture attached. Pictures so you can see that nobody writes what's wrong here! Ikea, that's how you do good business! But not with me! You picked the wrong person, and you're not interested in a credit note either. I'm laughing at that! I've only canceled one thing for now: I can buy a kitchen for 14,000 anywhere! And I wanted to buy another 0.4 for the residential units! And here's the legal notice! When picking up packages with ID checks from stores, the employee may only inspect the ID card or other official photo ID to verify the recipient's identity!

I have to say, the Friday specials are great, as the food is otherwise overpriced in my opinion. Some employees are very friendly, while others either always look grim or – especially the cleaning men in the IKEA restaurant – seem to enjoy yelling at guests and casting spells, probably out of boredom. I'm always spoken to rudely there, and it's pretty annoying, especially when I notice that these particular men are nice to colleagues, but not so nice to some guests... I've noticed that it's not just me, but other guests are affected as well. A young man from a similar country had his cup simply taken from his hand while he was drinking, just because he refilled his water (this could have been handled more politely). Another person was also harassed with spells. I'm disappointed with the staff selection, but otherwise everything is fine. However, these employees don't contribute more than one star to the rating. P.S. The cleaning ladies are super nice!

This was my third time getting food from Croque Paris. Clean place. Young team. Even though the wait was perfectly fine, they gave me a free Coke. I ordered a medium and got a large, no problem, no extra charge. That's customer service! Plus, it's incredibly delicious, and they can accommodate tons of special requests. Just give it a try!

The food is good as always, However, I was very dissatisfied with the service today. It started with someone getting ahead of me when I should have been next. I can live with that, but then my order seemed to be forgotten, and I had to wait longer than necessary. It's nice that they offered me a drink as compensation, but to me, it was simply a sign of a lack of respect. P.S. A little tip: If you can't understand the customers, turn the music down a bit, then they won't have to shout at you halfway.

For lunch, we had roast turkey breast with mashed potatoes and zander with potato and leek ragout. Both were delicious! The beer selection is excellent! And the ambiance is sophisticated and pleasant. This was a good choice for lunch in Kiel.
