I go there every Sunday with my mother, the food is delicious and everyone is very nice.

It was my first time there and I was pleasantly surprised. The food looked good and, most importantly, tasted great. The portions were generous. The service was charming and humorous.

Too bad, unfortunately very unfriendly for children. 1) Our 4-year-old children were playing by the fountain and were sharply told by the waiter to sit down. 2) There was no hot milk foam for children. However, you could order a "cappuccino without coffee" for 3.30. 3) Adults, however, are not allowed to order fries. We left... Our own fault. There's a delicious alternative across the street.

We happened upon this place and ordered five different dishes. Everything was delicious, including the fish and even the knuckle of pork (on the daily special).

A traditional, home-style restaurant that also offers a pleasant beer garden in the summer. A great place to stop after a beautiful hike in the Königsforst forest. The service is very friendly and attentive. You'll receive a warm welcome, and the time from ordering to serving your meal is short. The menu is extensive, and everyone enjoyed the food. As mentioned at the beginning of the review, good, home-style cooking.

The food was average at best, the service wasn't particularly friendly, and the price-performance ratio was very poor. The ambiance wasn't particularly inviting.

Unfortunately, a very disappointing visit. The waiter was extremely unfriendly and showed no hospitality whatsoever. Furthermore, they only accept card payments over €20 – with the justification that "it's not a kiosk." Such behavior and tone are completely out of character for a restaurant. I definitely wouldn't recommend it; we left without ordering anything.

We only visited the beer garden, which was clearly showing its age. The food was good, though not particularly flavorful. The kitchen wasn't able to add two herrings to the herring dish, which we naturally wanted to pay extra for. Inflexible!

Unfortunately, I can't report much or anything good... There were five of us and we made a reservation... When it came to ordering, we ordered drinks and food. The problem was: when my son, who is autistic and only eats a few select foods, ordered his fries without anything but salt, the waiter said that fries are only available with food... We decided not to go and therefore cannot recommend this restaurant in any way.

We always enjoy coming here. The delicious food, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere keep us coming back. Thanks to the good transport links via various modes of transport, including bike, train, and car, it's also a great meeting place for our relatives.

Wir waren enttäuscht von der Bedienung und vom EssenDie Bedienung hatte einen italienischen Akcent was uns aber nicht gestört hat.Er war sehr laut und unfreundlich. er hatte nur Fussball im Kopf und wir mussten lange auf ein Bier warten, Vieleicht haben wir auch den falschen Kellner erwischt . Der Kellner an anderen Tischen war freundlich und schnell. Das Essen war wie in einer besseren Frittenbude und preislich wie in einem 4 Sterne Hotel.

Das Essen kann ich kauf kenen Fall Empfehen . Wir haben Reibehuchen bestellt und haben wos normalerweisw mit einer Scheibe Schwarzbrot serviert wird das war nicht so und wir haben den Kellner nach einer Scheibe Schwarzbrot gefragt Die er uns mürrig auf Italienisch servier hat , Auf der Rechnung wurde Dise dann mit 1.90 Euro berechnet.. Witer ist störend das eineTtoiletten Benutzung mit 090 cent berechnet wird ( fur nicht Kunden). .Auf jeder Rasstsaette bezahle ich 1.00 Euro und bekomme einen Bon den ich angerechnet bekomme

We stopped here on our bike tour and had a quick drink. Super friendly service. We were allowed to park our bikes within sight of the beer garden.

We ate there on Monday, June 23, 2025. The food was good, the atmosphere cozy. The good service probably depends on the time of day. After 5 p.m., we were served by a pleasant young man with a friendly demeanor, always a very pleasant tone of voice, and a smile on his face. Thank you for that 🙂 Beforehand, a person of unbelievable rudeness, and when we then asked for a new pair of cutlery, there was a big argument from the service staff. It's a shame that a single person can ensure that this restaurant doesn't only receive good reviews, and that guests feel unwelcome. Keep an eye out when choosing a career.

On June 23, 2025, at around 4:15 p.m., the two of us were greeted by a rather unmotivated and unfriendly waiter in the beer garden. We had just finished our appetizers (mushrooms tossed in cognac) when, unfortunately, our main course arrived much too quickly. New course, new cutlery??? NO WAY!!! The waiter shoved the appetizer plates under our noses and told us to put down our cutlery. I said I'd like new cutlery for a new course. He (after some back and forth) said: "Okay, but only as an exception and only TODAY (how did he know I wouldn't go there a second time?!). And to think, if I'd had soup as a starter, I would have had to eat my aspic with a soup spoon?" He was off duty by then, and our next waiter was very friendly and approachable. Compliments to the chef: our starters and main courses tasted very, very good and were beautifully presented.

Unexpectedly and on Whit Monday arrived. After a walk we were hungry and we were glad that this was open. Also fast and friendly service. Ate delicious schnitzels.

The schnitzel I ate was delicious but very small. I've never had a smaller one in a restaurant. The mushrooms and sauce were okay... fries and salad were mediocre. All for over 20 euros. My last visit

Home-style restaurant that is a bit old. The food is okay in terms of taste and quantity and is good average, but not exactly cheap.

The originally small, rustic, very inviting and cozy restaurant has a bright extension and a large beer garden! When I came in I was greeted warmly and my request if I could charge my empty cell phone was also kindly accepted. I had a nice, short conversation with the barmaid and was asked nicely while I was eating whether everything was to my satisfaction?! I had a non-alcoholic wheat and asparagus with butter and boiled potatoes (actually with ham and hollandaise sauce, but my reordering wasn't a problem). It came quickly, the asparagus was large, tender and beautifully presented. To round everything off, I drank an espresso. As a friend of rustic, old German restaurants, I felt really comfortable here!

Good old German bourgeois cuisine with a great atmosphere! A must if you are in the area.

Nice Cologne pub to sit at the counter, the food is of a good standard for a pub, but very expensive.

Today was our first visit and it certainly won't be the last. The food was great, simply delicious and very filling. The service and friendliness of the waiter were great and extremely nice. If I had to give a grade, I can and should give it a straight A+. I haven't eaten so well and been served so well in a long time. Clear recommendation from my side.

Far too expensive for this type of food, but you can get much better food elsewhere, pork schnitzel (small) and powder sauce with fries and a loveless 70s salad for 22.50, so I feel ripped off! Audience also mainly pensioners

We decided to eat here today on a spur of the moment and were given a very friendly welcome. The waiter was very polite and accommodating, our order came quickly, the portions were large and very tasty. I can't understand the negative reviews. We'll be back.

Unfortunately we sat cramped in the winter garden. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as good as expected and the selection of drinks was very poor.

This place is awesome! My wife and I sent here off and on 2019-2022 and just went back for a dinner earlier this month. Food is excellent, great variety in the menu. Service is friendly too, same staff we saw in 2022. Beer garden is great in the spring and summer. We always recommend this place!

For us it's always a "must" when we're in the area and want some good home-style, delicious food. “Schnitzel Bernaise” with TOP fried fries always works! (see image) Fast, attentive service, freshly prepared dishes and a good selection round off a visit here.

The interior has a rustic, Cologne-style atmosphere. Cool in summer. Nice beer garden outside, from the back of the stop Königsforst can be entered. We have been here several times when I was in Cologne Rath. The restaurant offers good, down-to-earth cuisine. The dishes are simple but delicious. There are also cheaper, smaller senior plates on offer. The service is friendly. The boss has a strong voice and a bit of an Italian temperament, but is quite friendly like the rest of the persona. Good connection with the bus stop and plenty of parking spaces in the area.

Nie wieder. Grottenschlechte Bedienung. Unfreundlich und missmutig. Im Rahmen eines Beerdigungsessens lieblos auf einen Teller gewordene Brötchenhälften, die völlig überteuert waren. Trotz 35 Grad im Schatten musste man den Kellner bis zu 3 x auffordern, kalte Getränke zu servietten. Kann ich wirklich nicht empfehlen.

A nice restaurant with good cuisine. Don't be put off by the outside, it looks like a pub. Go in and ask for a table and enjoy. ... I was there again today... It was just good again. On the subject of being unfriendly... My experience is that everyone who was friendly was treated kindly. But if you think you want to use the place as a public toilet, you have to pay €0.90. Which I also think is correct. And I always pay by card. So my point of view is whoever is friendly will also be treated kindly. And yes, if there is a large crowd, tables will be assigned because it makes no sense for two people to sit at a table of four. Conclusion: I like the place and the service 👍

Das Schwalbennest liegt an der Endhaltestelle der Stadtbahnlinie 9. Es ist ein uriges Fachwerkhaus mit großem Biergarten. Der Wirt kommt aus Indien und bietet eine bunt gemischte Speisekarte. Der Service arbeitet schnell und die Portionen sind groß und in guter Qualität. Wir gehen regelmäßig ins Schwalbennest und waren bisher immer zufrieden.

We were there last night and were hungry for a salad. I ordered a salad with crab and salmon for €18.50 and my wife ordered a mista salad for €10.50. Unfortunately the price-performance ratio wasn't right here. The salads were too small and not nicely presented (looked like a plate from the 80s). The salad was also sandy. I'm assuming the chef had a bad day. The restaurant was well attended and people looked relatively relaxed and happy.

Unfortunately, super unfriendly service. We were initially shooed to another table, even though several tables were free. Then the wrong drink came and when we didn't want to order something straight away the bill was brought to us without asking. By the way, you can't pay with a card either.

We went for a drink in the beer garden after a walk and were immediately greeted unfriendly and sent to another table. When two people at our table finished their drinks and didn't immediately order a new one, we were brought the bill straight away, even though we hadn't finished yet. We sat and drank and were billed straight away. The interaction with other guests was also very rough and loud. We felt very unwelcome.

My parents have been coming here for years. Once for a wedding celebration on a very small scale. The food is good and the service is always very friendly.

We visited the restaurant with our hiking group, 6 people, without making an appointment. Every dish was delicious. There was nothing to complain about in terms of service either. On the contrary! For us, the bad reviews are incomprehensible.

Very friendly and attentive staff. My husband had cordon bleu and my daughter and I had a swallow's nest pan with three different steaks, everything was very tasty and can be recommended. Price-performance okay. We look forward to coming back there soon.

We went there yesterday with a larger group to eat waffles. Lt. On the website, the restaurant is handicapped accessible and suitable for wheelchair users. A wheelchair user in our group was not allowed into the restaurant with her electric wheelchair and had to stay outside. Apparently because of the risk of accidents. We sat in the winter garden and you could get in there with a wheelchair without any problems. They weren't willing to put the tables together for the group outside in the beer garden because we had reserved for inside.

We are regular customers of this restaurant, the food is delicious as always and very friendly staff

Well, unfortunately I also have to agree with the negative reviews. The 2 points go to the waiter, he was very friendly. However, the decor is very dated and the food was a disaster. Salad dressing probably from a bottle and the dish not seasoned at all. A pity!!!

Wir wurden von vorne rein verurteilt, nur auf die Toilette zu wollen. Absolute Frechheit. Niemals wieder. Haben wirklich genug konsumiert dort.

Das Lokal ist ein schönes kleines Fachwerkhaus,mal fühlt sich richtig wohl

Leider von mir keine Empfehlung. XXL Kotelett (nie und nimmer ca. 500 Gramm) von meiner Frau und mir waren knüppelhart. Auch alle 4 Kölsch waren weit unter dem Eichstrich gezapft. Geht gar nicht!

Schlechte Küche und Preis Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht. Als Gruppe mit 8 Personen bekamen wir nur eine "WanderSpeisekarte Karte" mit eingeschränkten Angeboten, z. B. nur kleines Seniorenschnitzel mit kaum Beilagen. Qualität wie in einer Fast Food Bude, aber Preisen wie in einem guten Restaurant. Den Gesichtern nach hat das Essen keinem gut geschmeckt. Gekocht wird hier nicht richtig. Wir werden zukünftig einen weiten Bogen um das Schwalben Nest machen.

Super leckeres Essen und aufmerksamer Service. Da gehen wir wieder hin, wenn wir wieder Köln besuchen.

Der Stern ist auch noch zu viel. Wir hatten für einen Stammtisch reserviert. Dort angekommen wurde uns gesagt das der mitgeführte Hund nicht erlaubt ist. Obwohl wir schon mehrmals dort mit Hund waren. Auch auf der Webseite ist das Hundeverbot nicht ersichtlich. Der Hundebesitzer musste von daher wieder heimfahren. Lieber Betreiber des Schwalbennestes, es war in so einer Traditionsgaststätte bisher immer möglich z.b. als Rentner mit Dackel ein kleines Gedeck zu bestellen und auch zu trinken. Aber wahrscheinlich wissen Sie schon gar nicht mehr was das ist. Das sage ich Ihnen als alter Kölner Taxifahrer der bestimmt an die 1000 Gäste aus Ihrem Lokal nach Hause gefahren hat. Das damals allerdings noch unter deutscher Leitung stand. Mal ganz abgesehen davon, dass ein Großteil Ihres Speiseangebotes aus Convenience Produkte für die Gastronomie besteht. Braucht eigentlich keiner.

Wir waren heute spontan eingekehrt und mit dem Rad schon oft daran vorbei gefahren. Es hat uns bisher nicht angesprochen und heute haben wir es in Angriff genommen. Ehrliche, einfache und schmackhafte deutsche Küche und große Portionen zu einem guten Preis. Wir saßen im Biergarten, der zwar etwas an der Straße und direkt an der Bahnhaltestelle liegt, das hat man Geräusche technisch aber fast kaum gemerkt, da der Brunnen im Inneren so (schön)laut plätschert :-)). Es ist alles schon was in die Jahre gekommen aber sauber und liebevoll eingerichtet. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder!!

The food was Meh. No real vegan options. Unfriendly staff. When we asked if we could just have a side order of fries and a salad, the answer was no - "Just no". We could only order the only vegetarian dish on the menu, country potatoes with some veggies with salad. Food is expensive and any change costs 1.10€ extra, so asking for fries instead of the potatoes because you can't even order plain fries is ridiculous. As stated the food was just okay, really nothing special. Lots of older customers here who are probably fine with the food and do not care.

Sehr schöner Traditionstreff! Internationale und lokale Küche! Das Essen schmeckt gut und Service ist aufmerksam. Der Aussenbereich ist gemütlich, aber liegt direkt an.der Bahnhaltestelle.

Wir waren schon 3 mal im Biergarten, um dort zu Mittag zu essen. Als wir gestern dort hin kamen, wurden wir im relativ leeren Biergarten vom Kellner des Tisches verwiesen, um uns einen anderen Platz zu suchen. Hier wären wir eigentlich gegangen, haben es aber nicht getan, da wir jemandem zum Essen eingeladen hatten. So etwas haben wir noch nie erlebt. Nie wieder werden wir dieses Lokal besuchen.

Ein so unfassbar unfreundliches und unmotiviertes Personal habe ich in meinem ganzen Leben noch nicht erlebt! Wir kamen mit acht Personen und wollten eigentlich gemütlich essen und trinken. Aber offensichtlich war es schon zu viel verlangt die Tische für uns zusammenzustellen. Wir wurden mit einem bösen herablassenden Blick bestraft. Die Getränkebestellung wurde dann auch nur bei der Hälfte der Leute aufgenommen, die anderen wurden einfach ignoriert. Bestellte Getränke wurden dann auch teilweise nicht geliefert. Die Essensbestellung wurde gar nicht aufgenommen, so dass wir nur ausgetrunken haben und schnell wieder geflüchtet sind. So ein Gast-unfreundliches Restaurant ist mir noch nie untergekommen. Nie wieder!

Sehr schönes Restaurant and der Haltestelle Königsforst der UBahn Linie 9. Herr Singh hat uns sehr herzlich empfangen und beraten. Ich habe mich für das Rahmsteak mit Pfeffer Sauce entschieden mit Beilagen Salat. Das Fleisch war argentinische Top-Qualität und wurde sehr gut gegrillt. Das Lokal ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und erinnert an die Kölsche-Froh-Natur. Man kann auch draußen Sitzen und findet vorm Restaurant Parkplätze.

Service Katastrophe. Gelangweilter und unfreundlicher Kellner.

Sehr reichhaltige Auswahl an Gerichten aller Preislagen. Viele Seniorenangebote, die auch preislich interessant sind. Die Speisen selbst sind schmackhaft, die Portionen eher groß. Der Biergarten ist groß und einladend. Das Schwalbennest ist zu empfehlen.

Familienessen / Familienfeier: unbequeme Stühle und Tische im Biergarten. Direkt neben der Straßenbahn Endhaltestelle der Nummer 9. Salat war frisch, Salatsosse mies, Fleisch verwässert, trocken, zäh, nicht frisch, Pommes nicht selbst gemacht schmeckten wie von. McDonald. Überteuerte Getränke 0,7 Flasche Reinfels Quell für 6,90€. Toiletten schmutzig. Kinder unfreundliches Lokal. Keine Kindergerichte. Service unaufmerksam und genervt. Essen für mieses Qualität und mangelnde Zubereitung von Fertigprodukten völlig überteuert. Wir kommen nicht wieder.

Essen Durchschnitt. Im Raum etwas kühl. Biergarten absolut okay.

Wir waren eine Trauergesellschaft und gleich bei Bestellung wurde mir mitgeteilt, dass es nur Suppe, Brötchen mit 1 Stück Kuchen und kein Essen bestellt werden kann. Das kostet 20 € pro Person. Die Brötchen wurden zwar belegt aber keine Garnitur wie kl. Gurken ,Tomaten gekochte Eier, lieblos serviert. Jeder hatte Durst, es kamen keine Gläser, man musste Wasser aus der Tasse trinken. Fast jeder meiner Gäste hat mich angerufen und war enttäuscht über die Bewirtung. Und das bei dem Preis.

Der Ober war draußen sichtlich überfordert, genervt und wurde sofort laut. Zum Krabbencocktail mit Brot fehlte das Besteck, im Krabbencocktail für 10,90 € war mehr Dosenobst und billigster Eisbergsalat als Krabben und das dazu gereichte Brot war schimmelig. Leider kamen wir auch nicht dazu, noch ein zweites Getränk zu bestellen, weil man schlicht und einfach überhaupt nicht mehr beachtet wurde. Professionell geht ganz anders. Wir kommen sicher nicht mehr wieder.

In einem Garten direkt neben der Haltestelle der Bahn 9. Man wird gut bedient und das Essen ist gut.Ab 3 Uhr gibt es Waffeln mit verschiedenen Beilagen . Sehr lecker.
