Simply fantastic Great food Good value for money

The seating is beautiful and you have a fantastic view of the region. The service is also very friendly and quick. I only had one drink and an ice cream, but both were perfectly fine.

A truly wonderful stay! From the very first minute, you feel like you're in good hands. The staff is very attentive, the food is excellent, and the view of the city—we had the best table—is unbeatable. Many thanks to the entire team. We're threatening to return!

The location is great, but unfortunately they no longer offer a cheese platter, which is a shame. So we only had one wine each that evening. The salad we had as an alternative was good.

One of the best parts of Bernkastel-Kues. After a bit of a steep walk with many stairs, you’re greeted with friendly service, good food and breathtaking views. They have a nice wine selection, wide variety of food, indoor and outdoor seating. After a filling lunch you can choose to go back down into town or further up to the castle. The fish and chips were delicious.

Urgently call and reserve otherwise the climb could be in vain, the staff do everything to accommodate the people, food staff and view super good 👍

Yes, a good seat with a view over Kues, the Moselle, and Bernkastel. Drinks were as they should be. We had one drink.

On the terrace you have a beautiful view of the city

The Schützenhaus is a hidden gem above Bernkastel-Kues, beautifully situated and accessible via a beautiful hiking trail from the historic town or from Burg Landshut. Once at the top, a terrace awaits with a stunning view of the Moselle and the vineyards around Bernkastel-Kues—a reward in itself after the climb. We were warmly welcomed by the Dutch owner, who talked about the location with great enthusiasm. The terrace is spacious, relaxing and perfect for catching your breath. The menu offers a surprising mix of local dishes and worldly flavors, including even a rendang. We chose to focus entirely on the wine and enjoyed a Dr. Loosen Graacher Himmelreich and a Kerpen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese—both excellent. The wine list is an absolute plus: extensive and carefully compiled, with many bottles from renowned producers from the immediate area. For lovers of Moselle wine, this is a place to really sit down. Schützenhaus is a pleasant, peaceful place with unparalleled views, hospitable owners and a nice balance between food, wine and atmosphere. A real must-go for those who enjoy walking and enjoying themselves.

Here you can enjoy a picturesque view of the Moselle. Very attentive, quick and nice staff. We ate an asparagus cream soup that tasted very good but unfortunately wasn't very hot. The prices are at normal levels. You can definitely eat better and cheaper here than at Landshut Castle!

Great location with a beautiful view of Bernkastel-Kues. The service was very friendly and quick - the food was great. Tip: Access by car or motorcycle leads past the castle from behind. Otherwise, the short, crisp climb is also possible via the stairs.

The kitchen and service team are on the move very quickly. In addition, friendly despite a full house, that's not a given. Perfect for a stop after a hike through the vineyards. Great view of Bernkastel-Kues.

Great location, worth the trip. The view of Bernkastel-Kues is simply great. Rich menu with delicious dishes, there is something for everyone. If the weather is bad, there are plenty of seats inside. Restaurant and terrace very clean, staff very friendly.

Nice view of the Moselle. We each had a winemaker's steak and we enjoyed it very much. Even though it was very busy we didn't have to wait very long for our food. The waitresses were very friendly.

Pedestrians have to climb the climb via steps. Inexperienced people have trouble. Exactly the same applies to cyclists. You need power.

A great location, very nice service, dog friendly. Unfortunately, the interior seems cheap (laminated, double-sided bistro menu) with overpriced snack-quality dishes. It's a shame, a lot more could be achieved with just a little more effort.

Staff: Very friendly and attentive. Painting supplies were immediately brought for the children. Ambiance: A glass of wine with this view, unbeatable! The food is also recommended.

I have rarely felt so well looked after and comfortable in a restaurant! You can immediately tell that the restaurant is owner-managed: the boss in the kitchen, the boss in the service, both together with fantastic employees. You can't beat your friendliness, courtesy, helpfulness and loving nature! And who, please, expects that with a view of the Moselle from above you will get excellent kibbeling like in Holland?!? Plus, of course, first-class Moselle Riesling. And an enchanting view of Bernkastel, of Kues, of the vineyards! Heart, what more do you want? We'll be back. Thank you for the beautiful and delicious experience with you - we didn't want to leave. ;-) And that even though it wasn't really warm outside anymore. However, in our hearts and in our stomachs it was cozy and warm. :-)

The shrimp and wine were amazing!

Very good food, with an Indonesian touch if you like it. Very competent and friendly service and owner. A unique view that you have to earn by climbing some stairs. But every step is worth it.

The location is of course a highlight. The view is great and the sunset while eating is simply amazing. The service is friendly and prompt, but the portions could be a bit larger. If you hike all day and smoke charcoal in the evening... you might be a little more concerned about plates. The taste was good, so you could have eaten more ;-). We found the walk there quite good...exercise is always good 👍

The Schützenhaus is a great location. The way there is a little arduous, but you will be rewarded with a great view. The food is delicious and so is the wine. The service was very friendly.

Worth it because of the beautiful location and the great view, but you shouldn't expect too much from the food. Lots of deep fryers etc

Very friendly service and good food with a view

After visiting the castle, we wanted a snack, a glass of wine and a great view over Bernkastel and the Moselle, and then we ended up here! The Riesling cheese soup tastes delicious, and the portion of baguette with dip is definitely recommended if you're slightly hungry! Very nice staff, clean sanitary facilities without charge, great view from up here!

Beautiful location with a beautiful view. Very affordable. And bickering. If you walk, you will lose the calories on the descent. Don't be discouraged, it's really worth it.

This is a great place to stop off after a hike up to the castle. From the restaurant there is also a short, steep path back down into the old town. We drank very good wine here and ate a delicious salad.

We didn't expect such a harmonious overall package. Everyone was very friendly, the process was well structured and the view was of course very beautiful. The selected (convenience) products tasted very good, the salad was fresh and everything came quickly. We just wish there had been soap and paper towels (and not kitchen roll) on the clean toilet.

Beautiful, a beautiful place, we went on foot, among the vineyards, beautiful, and something magical. The staff, the food, the good prices, we didn't have to wait long for the food, and then you can pay by card, (in other places not, always the excuse that it doesn't work, internet, excuses). 2 of us paid ,(food, drinks and water) €55, top, thank you, we will be back for sure.

Since we were walking with the stroller, we couldn't reach the Schützenhaus. Answer for the owner: All well and good, but a notice for this parking lot would obviously be great, you have advertising signs hanging everywhere so you could write it down, also for wheelchair users or people who are simply no longer able to walk well, that is also part of the service and influences the reviews . Google Maps is misleading you! We'll come back in the fall and try it. Kind regards

We just drank View perfect priceless. We only saw food from the other visitors. It looked good, smelled good but the portions were very clear. I would give price/performance satisfied from the quantity! I can't rate the taste because I didn't eat it!!!

Best view in Bernkastel. After a somewhat strenuous climb over the castle, we were rewarded with the best food (house recommendation - chicken in soy sauce) and a good selection of wine. The way back through the old town was comparatively quick and easy. We will definitely come back.

Walked all the way up there arrived at 7:59 and was told kitchen closed at 8pm I advised its not 8 yet and was told no sorry! Lovely view but get there early. I can see the rude owner has replied to my review. I did check your website picture attached. I've now downgraded you to 1 star 🌟 good night.

We arrived at the restaurant at 7.50 pm after hiking almost 15 minutes in high heat. We were told the kitchen is closed and there is no food available. Please note that the restaurant is open until 9pm.

Nice place with beautiful view and great service. We were quite a big group and we were served just perfectly. I love it when there is no problem with moving the table or getting something from kids menu as an adult. Food was also very tasty, one thing that would be nice to have is something lighter than traditional german cusine. But overall I recommend with no doubts.

The view of the Moselle is the climb that food is unfortunately not. Waiting three quarters of an hour for a starter is tough. Then there were 6 prawns for starters for €19.50 :-( and the Viennese style schnitzels were molded schnitzels, so they were tasty. The service was on point and nice. The toilets clean. All in all: if you just want to have a drink and enjoy the view, this is the place for you.

Small climb that is easily doable if you take your time. Then enjoy a delicious lunch with a wonderful view. And walk back down again.

The view of Bernkastel from the restaurant is very nice and that gives the restaurant a nice ambience. The selection of food is extensive and also a large variety of drinks. Can be reached from the center within 10 minutes via a small but quite steep stair path. A table reservation is recommended after 6 p.m. Card payment is possible.

For the second time we had the pleasure of eating in the Schützenhaus, a great restaurant with a wonderful view. Friendly staff and very tasty food. Maybe see you next year. Thank you
