Schumanns Tagesbar in München

I have to say that I am very disappointed. Schumann’s Tagesbar seems to live solely on its reputation. Location great, service very inattentive and careless. The food was absolutely mediocre. There were three of us and it wasn't even possible to split the bill. Only one person can pay... Anything else would apparently be too much to ask. Too bad!

If you appear stylish, the red carpet will be rolled out for you. However, if you don't come up strong or are perhaps even a little under the weather, you will only be greeted with unfriendliness. Service? None. Understanding? Even less. But that's nothing new. The real point is: times change, so do generations - but no one here seems to notice that. The concept is outdated and simply no longer up to date. The food? Quite okay. But if the plates are greasy and dirty every time, the question arises as to whether proper hygiene control was ever carried out here. Maybe it's time for an official sanitary inspection.

Underground service! After 45 minutes of waiting we were asked to leave even though we were promised a place for lunch. The waitress, Elizabeth , was incredibly unfriendly, yes, outrageous! Never again!!!

When we arrived we weren't even properly greeted. We were told to find a spot at the bar ourselves and wait 20 minutes for a table. I explained to the lady that my father is old and we would appreciate sitting at a real table. She just said, "Okay, wait somewhere." While we were waiting, I had to point out to her that several tables had become available. But she didn't care at all, she just ignored me. Then someone she obviously knew came from outside. Even though this person said they didn't have a reservation, they got a table immediately. When I asked the waiter why we were still waiting, he was incredibly arrogant and said we had to wait because we didn't have a reservation. When I said that this person didn't have a reservation either, he made fun of me and said, "Oh, you know better!" and laughed at me. I will never go to this cafe again. The employees treat the guests absolutely disrespectfully, are unfriendly and seem spoiled. I don't recommend anyone to visit this place. Absolutely disappointing!

Unfortunately, my visit to Schumann’s Tagesbar was very disappointing. Since I only had my cell phone and no cash with me, I couldn't pay the 10 euro bill. The waitress insisted that I had to leave something - for example my ID or something similar. Since I didn't want to leave my ID, the situation got worse. Instead of finding a simple and customer-friendly solution, I was treated rudely, which ruined the impression of the entire visit. Such unpleasant interaction with guests is unacceptable to me. I will avoid this bar in the future. Although I am a regular customer of Schumann’s in Hofgarten.

Best service, incredibly attentive, so friendly and warm. I wanted to thank you again very much for allowing us to redeem an almost 2 year old voucher for 2 drinks today without any problems, with a level of generosity that is unparalleled. I received this voucher when a friend of mine was undergoing chemotherapy and I promised her that I would keep it until she had completed her chemo and we could redeem it together. And that was today! Even without telling this story, the voucher was not only redeemed without even thinking about it for a second, but also topped! We had such a lovely afternoon, the gesture around this story brought us to tears. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Oh my God. Here you are treated like a supplicant by arrogant superiors. Never again! Dear Mr. Schumann, you would turn around at the treatment in your restaurant. We then went over to Les Deux. Ecellent food and fantastic treatment. Please, Mr. Schumann, if you could impart something of the gastronomy class to your successors!

We were unlucky that we ended up in this old, dingy bar despite some better alternatives. The service was terribly bad - the waiter (a young, blonde, tall, narrow-faced Bua) was unfriendly and incredibly slow - the price level of the drinks was inappropriate for the overall package… overall an impudence, which is offered to every guest. There are so many nice alternatives nearby...so please save yourself from such a run-down rip-off shop...

Always worth an espresso. Small, but quite comfortable. If you get a place, count yourself lucky

The best day bar in Munich. If you fancy fried potatoes with excellent drinks 🍸 you should stop by here. Unfortunately it's difficult to reach by phone as it makes sense to make a reservation during rush hour. It is always an experience to watch the colorful hustle and bustle in the melting pot of Munich.

We were about to have an aperitif and saw a free table outside - I politely went to the bar to ask if we could sit there. Two young women pushed each other forward. Even though I pointed out that I had been there first, the waitress assigned the seat to these two. The waitress' reaction to my protest was that we wouldn't get the next table if we criticized her work. Luckily there are a lot of better bars with great service!

Been there several times in the morning, sometimes for a cocoa, sometimes for a roll with a drink. The service has been okay so far, although not particularly friendly. The smile, when you recognize one, is always very forced and fake. You don't feel welcome. Furthermore, given the location and the prices, it is absolutely incomprehensible how card payments can only be offered from 20 euros. Does the owner, who is already a millionaire, really want to save a few percent of terminal fees?!

For many years I enjoyed going to the day bar often, at lunchtime and in the evening. (2) spontaneously wanted to drink and eat something in the evening shortly after 6 p.m. We initially asked for a table outside, everything here was reserved. We said no problem, then happy to go inside. We were only offered a table by a younger employee, right next to the door. When we asked to get another one to the side, since all tables except one were unoccupied, we received the curt answer: No, it's not possible. We no longer experienced any of the friendly service and the casualness that we knew - "wait a minute, we'll make something happen" - here. Conclusion: We had a good meal elsewhere that evening and enjoyed excellent service, which evaporated our displeasure about the table politics in the day bar coupled with rudeness...

How snobbish can you actually be? We first arrived and just wanted something to drink. We were offered a table (there were already reservation signs everywhere) if we wanted to eat, but otherwise we could only have sat at the bar - where there was no room for two people next to each other, but we wanted to get out . As inside, there were several free tables. Went back later at lunch time to have lunch and were recognized by the waitress and rejected by her and her colleague in such an arrogant and condescending manner. It was nice with you in the past, but you don't need to come here anymore. As the saying goes: Just like you call into the forest... Sorry never again.

Auch beim zweiten Anlauf immer noch unterirdisch. Auch wenn ich früher oft hier war, das Personal ist unglaublich unterirdisch. Die Frau draußen schickt einen nach drinnen, drinnen sagt man muss draußen sich melden, auf den Hinweis dass man mit der Dame draußen gesprochen hat guckt dir bar die Bedienung an und verdreht nur die Augen. Draußen drei Tische frei, deinen acht Tische frei. Letztes mal genau gleiche Erfahrung, Reservierung wurde ignoriert (mit American Express haben wir sowieso nix zu tun). Wahrscheinlich wird der Laden immer noch genug Unsatz machen so dass ihnen der Kunde egal sein kann - aber dennoch sollte man bei der Behandlung von Kunden denen kein Geld hinterherwerfen.

Wanted to meet here in the evening for a few drinks, we sat down at a free table since there was no line or anything like that. When the waiter came he just asked if we had just sat there, which another waiter heard and told him “just let her sit at the dirty table”. Waiter 1 then slammed all the things he had just cleared away back onto the table and left. You imagine service differently. By the way, no explanation as to what we did wrong or how we should have behaved correctly regarding table use. FYI: half the bar was empty. Then of course they left, which was certainly the aim of the campaign.

Einfach peinlich !!! If you would like to grab a cappuccino with your friends while in town, then this is certainly not the best choice, as they are not willing to give you a table for that, although more than half of the tables are empty. They made it very clear that they only offer tables to guests who are buying lunch, which I find to be ridiculous especially when the place was half empty. Very poor customer service and an arrogant mindset that clearly represents the staff, management and the owners of the house. Instead of letting this change my positive vibe I decided to take my money and business to another Café 50 meters away, where they had no problem accepting guests who want to enjoy a cappuccino. Do the two waitresses (blond + brunette) only add value to their mediocre job by turning away customers in such a degrading way, even though almost all the tables are free? And just dare to sit down at one of these free (unreserved) tables! I was able to observe this scenario yesterday 🍿 and I was very ashamed of Munich. The bar has a sensational location - there's no other way to say it. But a waiter remains a waiter - despite the waiter's rolex!

Great little daytime bar with fantastic food. The really small menu with a few dishes to choose from was nice, the quality of the individual dishes was high and very well prepared. For dessert there was a small selection of different cakes. The desserts were listed upon request. The service was nice, quick and attentive. The tables are a bit small and are very close together, so you sit quite close together and don't have much room for a larger handbag. I really liked the interior design.

It's nice to sit outside if you get a seat. The staff is sometimes very inattentive and leaves empty bottles and glasses on the table even though they bring new drinks. But it is very expensive, the drinks are only okay to good and not outstanding - except for the in-house beer, which is great.

The staff is so unfriendly that simply asking for a table makes you want to leave the restaurant. The quality of the restaurant is average. It's a shame, because the location is great and the restaurant has potential. We won't be coming back. Last year we experienced the same thing there and this year we wanted to give the day bar another chance - no way. Absolute fail!

The staff...normal but not particularly friendly...not a lot on the daily menu and the food was a bit inflexible, but if you found something on the menu like I did the roast beef, then the food is very good...the kitchen items are very small and very expensive...I already mentioned at the beginning...it's a well-known bar in Munich...

Food great, waiters very nice and quick.

Ambiente ist ganz nett, wenn man Gedränge und es etwas lauter mag. Service ist aufmerksam, aber auch nicht sonderlich nett. 7,5€ für eine Tomaten Suppe und 14,50 für eine kleine Schale gemischten Salat mit einem halben Ei und bisschen Thunfisch….kein Kommentar.

Ambiance is quite nice if you like crowds and a bit louder. Service is OK and quick, but not particularly friendly either. 7.5€ for a tomato soup and 14.50€ for a small mixed salad with half an egg and a bit of tuna…no comment.

Never been more disappointed by restaurant service like we were at Schumanns. It’s a popular place which is maybe why the staff feel very entitled. The prestige of Schumanns (a nice albeit objectively average restaurant) has clearly gotten into their heads. Very much looked forward our visit but it turned out into a horrible experience. Would definitely not recommend or go again.

Came for lunch and had one of the best suckling pig dishes in Munich in a long time....it was moist, tender and just delicious. Love the busy atmosphere of all types of people and nice service. Great for people watching...

We visit this place frequently and the experiences always vary depending on who works there. It's often difficult to get a table, but we've almost always been lucky, about 99% of the time. This is also because the shop is quite small and is mostly filled with regulars. The menu is very clear and everything is fresh and tasty. The coffee tastes excellent. The service is generally very nice, with one exception, which fortunately we rarely encounter. She is arrogant and unfriendly. The ambience is great, and so is the area. I'll be happy to come back, even if it means I have to wait a few minutes for a table to become available.

Been to Schumanns Bar very (very) often. Often crowded but always fun, cool staff and great drinks (and food)! For the first time in the day bar in many years. Ambience cool, food OK, service terrible. Arrogant waiter, little space, no napkins... One star for the drinks ;) Anyway - from now on only go to the original at Odeonsplatz.

Doesn't work at all. Arrogant to the point of no longer possible. Prices are excessive, tables are immediately provided with a reservation card so that you can choose the guests based on your nose, so tables remain unoccupied and you, as a sick person, have to sit on a bar stool at the counter. Then by asking and begging we got a table at the door behind the cold curtain. The food we ordered at the bar didn't arrive at the table, the bartender's reason being: you could have stayed seated at the counter. Never ever - thank God it was tested before we went there with customers. Guys, you haven't heard the bell ring yet. It's a good thing there are great locations nearby...THAT'S WHAT YOU NEED. NOT (arrogant untrained and snooty waiters). I'm laughing my ass off 🤣

I've been visiting the day bar since 2018. I was turned away at least as often as I got a table. In the last two years, however, the possibility of “getting” a table on popular days (Saturday) or less popular days (Tuesday afternoon) has dropped to almost 0%, although neither in terms of appearance, behavior on my part nor the crowds in the establishment nothing has changed. An example: Entry into the day bar one hour before closing time. Four tables free, all “reserved” of course, i.e. the offer to take a seat at the empty bar. Of course you sit down at the bar in pairs. By the time it closes, the 4 free tables become 6 free tables. Can you sit there? No, of course everything is reserved. Another example: The bar is full, 6 tables free. All “reserved”, but you get recommendations for bars nearby, “we’re terribly sorry”. A third example. The bar is empty, the tables are free, you get a free table outside. Orders a cappuccino. Drink this. The bar and tables remain 80% free. As soon as you have drunk your cappuccino you are “asked to order more or leave” so that the tables are free for lunch. All in all, you are dependent on the mercy of your employees in such an unpredictable way that you no longer want to go there. In relaxed everyday clothes, dressed up before a dinner at Les Deux opposite, in the rain or in the sun, it doesn't matter. A huge contrast to all the other chic establishments in Munich, which usually try to organize a table for you, even on a Friday evening at 8 p.m., for example Brenners. As a sophisticated location, you can show arrogance, but treating customers disrespectfully and systematically turning them away erratically should not be the goal of a restaurant, especially if you follow Mr. Sch's philosophy. reads in his books. In short, once you get a table, the drinks are good, the food is even better, but certainly not world class and worth this demotion as a customer. Luckily, there are several other options close by. If you manage to get a table, you can watch countless others being turned away. Zentraler Hotspot in der Münchner Innenstadt, Sehen und gesehen werden inclusive. Über die Freundlichkeit des Service (siehe Grossteil der Bewertungen) kann man geteilter Meinung sein, ich habe ihn bei mehreren Besuchen im Februar als sehr freundlich, professionell, und engagiert erlebt. Möglich auch, dass ein zelebrales Klientel Sonderbehandlung erwartet, um noch mehr aufzufallen in der Peinlichkeitsskala….?? Frühstück, Speisen und Getränke durchwegs Topp, oder darüber. Faire Preise und Auswahl an seriösen Tageszeitungen. Wo ist das Problem?

I usually go there rather early before the crowd settles in on weekend mornings for a quick or sometimes a bit more relaxed breakfast. The coffee, espresso, cappuccino or whichever type you choose is excellent. However the real reason why I like this place are their croissants. They are otherworldly good, fresh, crisp and flaky. They can definitely compete with the really good ones in France. And believe me, the number of places in France I've been to for croissants is countless. Other snacks I had like musli with fresh fruit or apricot tart are also very delicious. The service is very professional in a German or maybe I should rather say Munich sense of way. Although I personally never had any bad experience I can see where some of the comments are coming from. If there's one thing the place is not it's unpretentious. Would I recommend it? The answer is a definite yes. Their food is just really good.

Immer wieder gut. Eigenartig, dieser Laden ist bekannt für sein Schickimicki-Publikum und dennoch würde ich ihn mit „ehrlich“ am besten beschrieben. Ehrliche, einfache und mit besten Zutaten gemachte Gerichte, schnell, unkompliziert. Ehrliche Drinks ohne Firlefanz, einfach gut. Service verlässlich und extrem professionell – klar ist aber auch, dass die Kellner und Kellnerinnen hier das sagen haben. Deshalb klappt auch alles, also cool bleiben und „folgen“. Vielleicht weiß Schickimicki was gut ist?!

Münchens beste bar was soll man sagen es ist perfekt

Mein Mann und ich waren schon oft in Schumann‘s Tagesbar. Gestern waren wir aber zum letzten Mal dort. Die Kellner sind völlig arrogant und unfreundlich.Es war schon nach 14:00 und ein paar Tische waren nicht besetzt. Nachdem wir etliche Minuten mit Nichtbeachtung gestraft gewartet hatten, wagte mein Mann einen Kellner mit Hallo anzureden.Das hatte eine empörte Zurechtweisung zur Folge, dass es Guten Tag heißt wurden wir belehrt, was man normalerweise ja auch sagen würde, wenn nur nicht jedem Blickkontakt ausgewichen würde. Wie wäre es denn eigentlich, die Gäste mit Guten Tag zu begrüßen? Hier ist wohl alles auf den Kopf gestellt. Das Lokal zehrt noch von dem Ruf des emphatischen Charles Schumann. Wie lange noch? Da hilft selbst das beste Essen nicht. Man fühlt sich in Umgebung dieser völlig gestressten und genervten Bedienungen nicht wohl. Das muß man sich wirklich nicht noch einmal antun.

I like the atmosphere and the food was also excellent. Pricing is fair for the quality of food you get and the reputation Schumanns Bar is having. There are places with worse quality were you can’t find a soup for less then 10€, which is absurd. The only downside, the crowd can be bit annoying occasionally. “Show and shine” and the usual everybody thinks he is so darn special. But if you have the right mind set, it’s an interesting show or social study of the Munich crowd.

Die Leute hinter der Bar sind fix und meist freundlich. Nicht nachvollziehbar war das Warten auf einen Tisch für über 1 Stunde (an der Bar) obwohl mehrere Tische frei waren und die (auf Nachfrage angekündigten) Reservierungen nicht erschienen. Ansonsten immer ein guter Platz!

Die Tagesbar steht dem Restaurant in nichts nach - insbesondere in puncto Unfreundlichkeit & Arroganz des Personals. Der Kaffee ist hingegen sehr gut.

Super Drinks (ich liebe den Aperol Sour)! Super um vorbeilaufende Passanten zu beobachten. Der Espresso ist auch erstaunlich gut.

Kaffee und Croissant sehr gut. Der Früchtequark mit Müsli war auch gut. Allerdings musste man Müsli erst suchen....bitte etwas mehr. Vielen Dank.

Ich war gestern mit meiner Freundin bei Schumanns. Ich hatte natürlich die Bewertungen gelesen und war auf das Personal gespannt…. Also ich kann nur sagen, wir sind supernett bedient worden, auch die Tische neben uns. Unsere Bedienung war auch nicht arrogant oder sonstiges.

Perfekt zum Aperitif für einen schönen Abend.

Wir sind öfter hier ! Das Essen ist Ultra lecker und dafür sehr günstige Preis ! Leider sind die mitarbeite sehr überfordert bei soviel Gästen !

Tolles Bar, schönes Ambiente unhöfliche, arrogante Personal. Man muss betteln um die Bestellung Aufnahme, Ausnahme gibt nur für die High Society, die werden sogar freundlich und zügig bedient. Sowas geht gar nicht. Für was halten Sie sich eigentlich?

Barkeeper ist sehr nett, manche Bedienerin nett und manche halt sehr arrogant… Aber Cocktails sind hervorragend, nicht viele Bar gibt sich Mühe gute Cocktails zu machen. Wir kommen immer gerne wieder für die Drinks die mit Herzen gemacht werden.

Sehr schöne und gehobene Bar in der Innenstadt. Wer gerne gute Drinks, mit gutem Essen mag, findet hier sicher was. Der Geschäftsführer hat dort ein tolles Team, das den Gästen fast jeden Wunsch von den Lippen abliest. Auch ein idealer Ort, um interessante Leute zu treffen.

Unterirdischer Umgang mit Gästen! Meine Freundin und ich - Münchnerinnen - und gut angezogen- wollten ein Glaserl trinken - wurden einfach am Eingang stehen gelassen. Als ich nachfragte, ob wir den freien Tisch haben können, wurde ich von grantigen alten Kellner angeraunzt, d man erst guten Tag sagt! —- wenn dann sollte er einen angucken und guten Tag sagen - und statt gelangweilt am Tresen zu wischen und zu Boden gucken, evtl auch Blick auf Gäste werfen. Ich weiß, die haben’s nicht nötig! Arroganz ist hier das Geschäftsmodell- aber ich kann meinen Schampus auch woanders trinken! Im Commercial um die Ecke weiß Mann mit Gästen umzugehen! Mit Charme und freundlicher Geste.
