For a delicious snack or excellent cake, a superb coffee or a good drink in the heart of the more elegant part of the city, this is the perfect place! Fast, friendly service, a chic clientele who come here for a short break, whether as a couple, alone, or in a small group, at the tables or at the bar, which are always quickly filled. Many regulars. And Charles Schumann even drops by – as he did yesterday at lunchtime…

On both occasions the service staff was at least somewhat friendly, except the blond guy with longer hair: super rude, horrible service. Atmosphere feels a bit rushed. Food and drinks are great though.

Admittedly, I'm looking at this somewhat through rose-tinted glasses, as I particularly like Schumann's, especially the bar at its old location, so I can't judge the whole thing objectively. Of course, I had to order the roast beef, and it was just as good as it used to be. Back then, thanks to those same nostalgic glasses, the bar was simply legendary. The potatoes and vegetables were also good. The Rossini was good, and the espresso is simply my go-to starter when I'm here. The service is friendly, and the clientele is still a bit too posh, but I like it.

Classic with the best coffee, wonderful food and perfect service

We like to go to this bar every 2-3 weeks; the selection is great and the snacks are delicious. Unfortunately, the service yesterday was very rude: Our greeting, "Hello, is this table still free?" was met with a rather condescending "Good afternoon." I don't know if the waiter didn't hear our greeting, but even if he did, I find this arrogant response to a customer unacceptable. Looking at the other Google reviews, service behavior seems to be a frequent issue. I hope the team rethinks their service, because the bar itself is really nice.

Exceptionally precise for a daytime bar. The food is technically clean, perfectly cooked, and flavorfully clear – nothing superfluous, no showmanship. The service is focused and professional, which some mistakenly perceive as aloof. Especially given the concept and the high volume of guests, the level of service is impressively consistent. A place with attitude and high standards – those who understand it will come back.

A cool place to linger and observe the hustle and bustle of Munich. Great, prompt, and charming service. A small menu, fitting for a daytime bar.

Schumanns's little brother - the staff is practically 90% Italian. Excellent breakfast, excellent aperitif.

Normally, I only write reviews if I particularly liked a restaurant. In this case, it was the exact opposite. I've never met such an arrogant and condescending waitress. Since all the tables outside had "Reserved" signs, I asked the waitress if we could sit at one of the two free tables. No, they were occupied all day! When I asked if we could join them somewhere, I was dismissed with a snippy "We absolutely don't do that" and an unmistakable look. Here, the chic crowd prefers to keep to themselves... But we were able to get a table at the Schwarzreiter Tagesbar, extremely friendly service, and an excellent lunch.

I can only agree with the previous speakers who gave him a point: unbelievable! I've never been treated so badly by a waiter. Incredibly arrogant, extremely unfriendly, and then simply takes tips from the bills handed to him at will. Of course, it becomes even more unfriendly when I insist on not tipping in this case, even though I'm normally very generous with them. When I briefly sit down at one of the five empty tables to finish the last of the drink I ordered at the bar, he follows me and simply takes the glass away :))) I can only recommend one thing to this gentleman: relaxation exercises, or even better: get out of the service :)))

From the waiters to the food to the "no dogs" policy, simply pathetic...

I usually go there rather early before the crowd settles in on weekend mornings for a quick or sometimes a bit more relaxed breakfast. The coffee, espresso, cappuccino or whichever type you choose is excellent. However the real reason why I like this place are their croissants. They are otherworldly good, fresh, crisp and flaky. They can definitely compete with the really good ones in France. And believe me, the number of places in France I've been to for croissants is countless. Other snacks I had like musli with fresh fruit or apricot tart are also very delicious. The service is very professional in a German or maybe I should rather say Munich way. Although I personally never had any bad experience I can see where some of the comments are coming from. If there's one thing the place is not it's unpretentious. Would I recommend it? The answer is a definite yes. Their food is just really good.

A city institution, this bar exudes old-world charm: waiters in white jackets, minimal decor, and everything being prepared in plain sight. A temple of Campari, the shakerato is a must. Prices are high, but absolutely in keeping with the city. The food selection is limited, but it's a bar after all.

We ordered a salad and risotto Milanese for lunch. After the salad, we waited almost an hour and asked twice when the risotto would be arriving. We were told the food would be right there. The table next to us, however, who were probably well known at the daytime bar, got their risotto and other dishes even though they had ordered well after us. We then told the waitress that we would skip the risotto and would gladly pay, as it was taking too long. The waitress was slightly annoyed, saying that things can sometimes go wrong in the kitchen. Yes, not really a problem, but an hour is definitely too long. Her remark, "Everyone has their problems," was the icing on the cake. Sorry, but something is wrong at the daytime bar. The boss is missing!

Very tasty food, fast and friendly service!

Unfortunately, the service was quite disappointing. The staff seemed completely disinterested and unwelcoming, as if serving guests was more of a burden than their job. At no point did we feel truly taken care of — it felt more like they were doing us a favor rather than actually providing service.

Stranger place... I wanted to shelter from the rain and grab a quick bite to eat, so I decided to go to the Schuhman day bar. I was ignored at the bar for minutes. Only when I sat down at a table on my own did a young man come over and ask for a seat. Service awareness looks different... I could have just sat outside, but I went to the bar specifically to ask for a table. The "salad with goat cheese" consisted of what felt like 350g of carelessly thrown-together leaf lettuce, a piece of goat cheese (fried), and half a quartered tomato. Drowned in a huge amount of olive oil, without salt, pepper, or any seasoning. No one even asked for it. + a slice of bread. The service was really not that great; I didn't feel like having dessert anymore, so I was served by a young lady. About the salad again: No flavor, a soup salad for €14.50. Funnily enough, I was even charged €15.50 even though I didn't have the tuna option. I don't speak up, but it fits the bill. Unkind, poor service – unless you get drunk on champagne. The rhubarb spritzer was good. A place that obviously only survives on its location and a once-good reputation. Like its neighbor, "Hug*s." Clientele: Over 50s and 30-35 "chic" Aperol lovers. Avoid.

We went to breakfast. I ordered four things. All four items were brought out incorrectly, not what I had ordered. That's a shame, considering the bar itself touts its commitment to quality on its menus.

There is always a line to seat inside!

Arrogant, unprofessional, and unfriendly service. Guests aren't seated, even though there are plenty of free tables. It's so loud inside that you can't really have a conversation. Food is run-of-the-mill, and the menu repeats itself after a relatively short time. Plus, the big names and the heritage aren't convincing. Absolutely not a recommendation!

Rude is a mild word for their culture. I’m not sure what they are thinking where they work. Probably also the management is with same attitude. If you have frustration in life leave them at home when you work in hospitality business. Btw the judgy look from the pathetic waitress says how sad as a restaurant you are…

Schumann's Tagesbar embodies a piece of Munich's provincialism: We went there three times within 10 days. The so-called lunch was mediocre at best. The drinks at Ory are significantly better. And the way the Munich residents let themselves be made fun of by the staff (primarily the female ones) is truly remarkable, even worthy of cabaret. But that's precisely what makes provincial: you want to be there, no matter the "circumstances." So if you want to experience a provincial farce, Schumann's Tagesbar is recommended. However, we didn't even begin to grasp the quality or service concept.

Would be a nice bar if the staff weren't so rude.

Lively, classic, with a good, small selection of tasty dishes. The service is unobtrusively good... what more could you want when the Campari Soda is calling at 3 p.m. ;)

Solid and busy bar, very nice interior and atmosphere with established local clientele.

If you’re in Munich and looking for a breakfast spot that combines quality, atmosphere, and a bit of old-world charm, Schumann’s Tagesbar is absolutely worth a visit.

Unfortunately very arrogant and unprofessional service. I asked politely for a table and was then ignored for 20 minutes while other guests were served. In the end it was conveyed to me - very subtly but clearly - that they didn't want to give me a table because I probably didn't make enough sales. For a bar with premium standards and prices, this is not only a questionable assumption, but simply embarrassing.

Nice place to drink a solid Aperol.

Can't understand the hype about this place. We sat outside, it was very nice. Otherwise we had breakfast there on 2 days. There was freshly squeezed orange juice, which was very good. Ran out of raspberry and strawberry jam. There was no salmon, I forgot to pickle it. Nothing with eggs is not on the menu. The waitresses were extremely unfriendly on both days we were there. Unsuitable for this job.

Noticed the food looked nice when passing by returned next day for excellent lunch. It was so good we came back in the evening for supper which was also excellent. Friendly helpful staff, great atmosphere, reasonably priced.

Arrogant and unfriendly staff, not recommended

I have to say that I am very disappointed. Schumann’s Tagesbar seems to live solely on its reputation. Location great, service very inattentive and careless. The food was absolutely mediocre. There were three of us and it wasn't even possible to split the bill. Only one person can pay... Anything else would apparently be too much to ask. Too bad!

If you appear stylish, the red carpet will be rolled out for you. However, if you don't come up strong or are perhaps even a little under the weather, you will only be greeted with unfriendliness. Service? None. Understanding? Even less. But that's nothing new. The real point is: times change, so do generations - but no one here seems to notice that. The concept is outdated and simply no longer up to date. The food? Quite okay. But if the plates are greasy and dirty every time, the question arises as to whether proper hygiene control was ever carried out here. Maybe it's time for an official sanitary inspection.

Underground service! After 45 minutes of waiting we were asked to leave even though we were promised a place for lunch. The waitress, Elizabeth , was incredibly unfriendly, yes, outrageous! Never again!!!

When we arrived we weren't even properly greeted. We were told to find a spot at the bar ourselves and wait 20 minutes for a table. I explained to the lady that my father is old and we would appreciate sitting at a real table. She just said, "Okay, wait somewhere." While we were waiting, I had to point out to her that several tables had become available. But she didn't care at all, she just ignored me. Then someone she obviously knew came from outside. Even though this person said they didn't have a reservation, they got a table immediately. When I asked the waiter why we were still waiting, he was incredibly arrogant and said we had to wait because we didn't have a reservation. When I said that this person didn't have a reservation either, he made fun of me and said, "Oh, you know better!" and laughed at me. I will never go to this cafe again. The employees treat the guests absolutely disrespectfully, are unfriendly and seem spoiled. I don't recommend anyone to visit this place. Absolutely disappointing!

Unfortunately, my visit to Schumann’s Tagesbar was very disappointing. Since I only had my cell phone and no cash with me, I couldn't pay the 10 euro bill. The waitress insisted that I had to leave something - for example my ID or something similar. Since I didn't want to leave my ID, the situation got worse. Instead of finding a simple and customer-friendly solution, I was treated rudely, which ruined the impression of the entire visit. Such unpleasant interaction with guests is unacceptable to me. I will avoid this bar in the future. Although I am a regular customer of Schumann’s in Hofgarten.

Best service, incredibly attentive, so friendly and warm. I wanted to thank you again very much for allowing us to redeem an almost 2 year old voucher for 2 drinks today without any problems, with a level of generosity that is unparalleled. I received this voucher when a friend of mine was undergoing chemotherapy and I promised her that I would keep it until she had completed her chemo and we could redeem it together. And that was today! Even without telling this story, the voucher was not only redeemed without even thinking about it for a second, but also topped! We had such a lovely afternoon, the gesture around this story brought us to tears. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Oh my God. Here you are treated like a supplicant by arrogant superiors. Never again! Dear Mr. Schumann, you would turn around at the treatment in your restaurant. We then went over to Les Deux. Ecellent food and fantastic treatment. Please, Mr. Schumann, if you could impart something of the gastronomy class to your successors!

We were unlucky that we ended up in this old, dingy bar despite some better alternatives. The service was terribly bad - the waiter (a young, blonde, tall, narrow-faced Bua) was unfriendly and incredibly slow - the price level of the drinks was inappropriate for the overall package… overall an impudence, which is offered to every guest. There are so many nice alternatives nearby...so please save yourself from such a run-down rip-off shop...

The best day bar in Munich. If you fancy fried potatoes with excellent drinks 🍸 you should stop by here. Unfortunately it's difficult to reach by phone as it makes sense to make a reservation during rush hour. It is always an experience to watch the colorful hustle and bustle in the melting pot of Munich.

We were about to have an aperitif and saw a free table outside - I politely went to the bar to ask if we could sit there. Two young women pushed each other forward. Even though I pointed out that I had been there first, the waitress assigned the seat to these two. The waitress' reaction to my protest was that we wouldn't get the next table if we criticized her work. Luckily there are a lot of better bars with great service!

Been there several times in the morning, sometimes for a cocoa, sometimes for a roll with a drink. The service has been okay so far, although not particularly friendly. The smile, when you recognize one, is always very forced and fake. You don't feel welcome. Furthermore, given the location and the prices, it is absolutely incomprehensible how card payments can only be offered from 20 euros. Does the owner, who is already a millionaire, really want to save a few percent of terminal fees?!

For many years I enjoyed going to the day bar often, at lunchtime and in the evening. (2) spontaneously wanted to drink and eat something in the evening shortly after 6 p.m. We initially asked for a table outside, everything here was reserved. We said no problem, then happy to go inside. We were only offered a table by a younger employee, right next to the door. When we asked to get another one to the side, since all tables except one were unoccupied, we received the curt answer: No, it's not possible. We no longer experienced any of the friendly service and the casualness that we knew - "wait a minute, we'll make something happen" - here. Conclusion: We had a good meal elsewhere that evening and enjoyed excellent service, which evaporated our displeasure about the table politics in the day bar coupled with rudeness...

How snobbish can you actually be? We first arrived and just wanted something to drink. We were offered a table (there were already reservation signs everywhere) if we wanted to eat, but otherwise we could only have sat at the bar - where there was no room for two people next to each other, but we wanted to get out . As inside, there were several free tables. Went back later at lunch time to have lunch and were recognized by the waitress and rejected by her and her colleague in such an arrogant and condescending manner. It was nice with you in the past, but you don't need to come here anymore. As the saying goes: Just like you call into the forest... Sorry never again.

Auch beim zweiten Anlauf immer noch unterirdisch. Auch wenn ich früher oft hier war, das Personal ist unglaublich unterirdisch. Die Frau draußen schickt einen nach drinnen, drinnen sagt man muss draußen sich melden, auf den Hinweis dass man mit der Dame draußen gesprochen hat guckt dir bar die Bedienung an und verdreht nur die Augen. Draußen drei Tische frei, deinen acht Tische frei. Letztes mal genau gleiche Erfahrung, Reservierung wurde ignoriert (mit American Express haben wir sowieso nix zu tun). Wahrscheinlich wird der Laden immer noch genug Unsatz machen so dass ihnen der Kunde egal sein kann - aber dennoch sollte man bei der Behandlung von Kunden denen kein Geld hinterherwerfen.

Wanted to meet here in the evening for a few drinks, we sat down at a free table since there was no line or anything like that. When the waiter came he just asked if we had just sat there, which another waiter heard and told him “just let her sit at the dirty table”. Waiter 1 then slammed all the things he had just cleared away back onto the table and left. You imagine service differently. By the way, no explanation as to what we did wrong or how we should have behaved correctly regarding table use. FYI: half the bar was empty. Then of course they left, which was certainly the aim of the campaign.

Einfach peinlich !!! If you would like to grab a cappuccino with your friends while in town, then this is certainly not the best choice, as they are not willing to give you a table for that, although more than half of the tables are empty. They made it very clear that they only offer tables to guests who are buying lunch, which I find to be ridiculous especially when the place was half empty. Very poor customer service and an arrogant mindset that clearly represents the staff, management and the owners of the house. Instead of letting this change my positive vibe I decided to take my money and business to another Café 50 meters away, where they had no problem accepting guests who want to enjoy a cappuccino. Ein zukünftiger Besuch ist sicherlich nicht mehr Wert.

Do the two waitresses (blond + brunette) only add value to their mediocre job by turning away customers in such a degrading way, even though almost all the tables are free? And just dare to sit down at one of these free (unreserved) tables! I was able to observe this scenario yesterday 🍿 and I was very ashamed of Munich. The bar has a sensational location - there's no other way to say it. But a waiter remains a waiter - despite the waiter's rolex!

Incredibly rude waiter! During a phone call he talked to me several times! I tell the service manager Finn, who replies: We don't make any phone calls! Unbelievable behavior from staff who are unfriendly and think they are doing something better. Not recommendable!

Great little daytime bar with fantastic food. The really small menu with a few dishes to choose from was nice, the quality of the individual dishes was high and very well prepared. For dessert there was a small selection of different cakes. The desserts were listed upon request. The service was nice, quick and attentive. The tables are a bit small and are very close together, so you sit quite close together and don't have much room for a larger handbag. I really liked the interior design.

It's nice to sit outside if you get a seat. The staff is sometimes very inattentive and leaves empty bottles and glasses on the table even though they bring new drinks. But it is very expensive, the drinks are only okay to good and not outstanding - except for the in-house beer, which is great.

The staff is so unfriendly that simply asking for a table makes you want to leave the restaurant. The quality of the restaurant is average. It's a shame, because the location is great and the restaurant has potential. We won't be coming back. Last year we experienced the same thing there and this year we wanted to give the day bar another chance - no way. Absolute fail!

Ambiance is quite nice if you like crowds and a bit louder. Service is OK and quick, but not particularly friendly either. 7.5€ for a tomato soup and 14.50€ for a small mixed salad with half an egg and a bit of tuna…no comment.

Never been more disappointed by restaurant service like we were at Schumanns. It’s a popular place which is maybe why the staff feel very entitled. The prestige of Schumanns (a nice albeit objectively average restaurant) has clearly gotten into their heads. Very much looked forward our visit but it turned out into a horrible experience. Would definitely not recommend or go again.
