Disappointing Visit - Unprofessional Management and Safety Deficiencies My girlfriend and I visited Emil & Moritz in Leipzig today and experienced what was probably the most unprofessional restaurant visit in a long time. The reception itself was a disgrace: Despite the sign advertising "Breakfast Brunch until 3 p.m.", we were informed at 12 p.m. that due to a lack of guests, only à la carte was available. The manager intervened without being asked and lectured us for minutes – as if he had to justify his business decisions to us. Unprofessional! The deficiencies included: • Schnitzel: far too little meat and fried potatoes for the price • Seasoned beef: small portion, Worcestershire sauce was served only after request • Cappuccino: served without sugar • Disastrous value for money The scandal: My girlfriend's seasoned beef contained a 3-4 cm piece of bone – a serious safety risk! While the chef at least apologized, the boss revealed his complete lack of business acumen: ✗ No goodwill or discount ✗ Instead, a cheeky justification: "That can happen. My children have to be supervised at home too" and "With industrially manufactured products, that can happen." ✗ No goodwill or discount ✗ Zero willingness to compromise despite a serious defect Conclusion: This "boss" has absolutely no idea about customer service or business management. Any halfway competent restaurateur would have immediately shown goodwill if there was a bone in the food – reduced the bill or not charged for the dish. Instead, paying guests are treated with even more rudeness. Absolutely unprofessional – never again! Save your money and go to a restaurant with real service.

We visited Emil & Moritz during the ITK (International College of Management). The staff and owners are very friendly, too. The price/performance ratio is good. I highly recommend it.👍

My son Michael Born and I already know "Emil and Moritz" from the Höfe am Brühl and are more than thrilled. The new location is excellent; a ramp will even be installed for wheelchair users.

Unfortunately, my visit was disappointing. The schnitzel was badly burnt, very dry, and difficult to cut through – unfortunately, it didn't taste good at all. When the waiter asked if everything was okay, I honestly said "no," but I don't think he understood me properly (probably due to language barriers) and just walked away with a smile. I had the impression that my feedback wasn't taken seriously. It's a shame – I had hoped for more.

Very unsatisfied with the chicken liver and pea mash. The chicken liver was very mashed, I was looking for it under the onions. The mash and peas were simply mixed in. Really disappointed at 12.90.

It looks good, BUT, the fricassee tastes like pepper. We had a reservation and still had to sit at separate tables, and the waiters weren't particularly friendly either. After my week in Leipzig, this dinner remains a truly unpleasant memory for me...

We had a delicious Hamburg schnitzel with fried potatoes. The schnitzel was perfect, and the fried potatoes were deliciously crispy and not greasy. It was served with a tasty dill and cucumber salad. Highly recommended.

The "breakfast buffet" didn't taste fresh. We didn't expect much for the price, but even that was below expectations... not recommended!

I tried the All You Can Eat breakfast for €7.99 and was overall disappointed. The service was really bad - the employee seemed tired, unfriendly and unprofessional. I completely missed kindness or attention. The cocoa was inedible and tasted almost only like water. The meal itself – a roll with cheese and some fruit – was OK, but nothing special. What also bothered me: Although I was assured in advance that card payments worked, I later found out that another customer was having problems with it. That left me feeling insecure. Overall, the atmosphere was unpleasant and uninviting. I paid full price even though I barely ate anything, but with service like this it's just not justified. Very unfortunate.

You can't ask for a 5-star menu for €7.99, but with all you can eat, having to announce every slice of sausage or cheese, which the staff then puts on your plate, does take some getting used to. So it wasn't ours. Tried it and didn't find it good.

Couscous was very tasty today. In addition, the lunch break went very quickly.

Hello, the food was mixed, with some being a little too spicy and some being very salty. But the highlight was the seasoned meat with bones and cartilage! It wasn't deducted, but luckily something urgently needs to change in the kitchen! The service would have gotten 5 points if the lady hadn't said that the seasoned meat thing happens more often here, they're used to it! Then change it or remove it from the map! If it doesn't work!

It was schnitzel all you can eat. Delicious....

The worst brunch I've ever experienced. Food was rationed, meaning there was no staff to serve drinks. Even when asked, there was no tasty coffee, just hot brown water. The ambiance was quite nice, but the place wasn't heated enough.

When we looked at the menu we had to swallow hard because the prices are extremely overpriced. Normally you expect good food but the food tasted absolutely awful. We both ordered the schnitzel Hamburg style with fried potatoes. First of all the incompetent staff brought us the wrong food which meant we had to wait again and we lost our appetite. When we finally got the food the schnitzel looked weird and when we took a bite it tasted really greasy and disgusting and the supposed fried potatoes were just potato chips and were completely burnt. The egg on the schnitzel wasn't even properly cooked and was inedible. At least they gave us a discount because they brought us the wrong food in the first place but we will never go to the restaurant again.

We went there for breakfast for the first time today. We decided on the All You Can Eat breakfast for 9.95 and definitely didn't regret it 👌 I can only warmly recommend everyone... from freshly made scrambled eggs... to pancakes... rolls with something on them... what you personally like... or even muesli... cornflakes... you could even choose soup... so there is definitely something for every taste... You pay extra for the drinks but that's not a big deal... with such nice and accommodating conditions like we had 😊 The restaurant itself is quite large but quite clearly arranged and modernly furnished. The toilets were also very clean...all in all a really inexpensive place in the center of Leipzig and really worth every cent... We will definitely come back there on our next visit..

There's no worse way to start the day... Unfortunately the breakfast buffet was a bitter disappointment. You were served at the “buffet” and were not allowed to serve yourself, as you would expect from a buffet. The selection was minimal and a lot of things didn't seem fresh. This atmosphere definitely doesn't invite you to linger - I won't have breakfast here again. Attached are great pictures, of the buffet, what you get from the buffet and a “fresh” fruit salad 🤮😂

Yes, the price/performance ratio is right. The food is freshly prepared and the portions are not small. We'd love to come back.

Because of the bad reviews, I was really hesitant about eating there, but I have to say, it was absolutely worth it. The food was very hot, the meat was cooked well, and everything tasted delicious. The service was very friendly.

For the last few weeks I've been here almost every week for breakfast with my people, work discussions in conjunction with breakfast, what more could you want. Some of the reviews here, I don't understand it. Here Lukas compares frozen goods with a varied breakfast 🫣 There are now frozen bakeries on every corner, in the supermarket, even at the gas station. Guys, 7.99 euros for breakfast, on request pancakes, omelettes, scrambled eggs or anything else freshly prepared on request. Sausage cheese muesli rolls as much as you want, please check what each one costs in stores. Don't forget staff electricity rent. Unfortunately, people's dissatisfaction is getting worse and worse. Really a shame. Emil & Moritz, we have rediscovered you, we will be back on Monday 😁 keep it up.

We were in Leipzig yesterday and looked for places to eat in the center... The fact that you have to enter the restaurant from outside should have been mentioned. But when we found it, we were pleasantly surprised. A very nice and clean atmosphere... Very friendly and attentive service. We waited a few minutes for the food, but you could hear the kitchen working. The food arrived very hot and freshly prepared and tasted great. Until we paid, we were the only customers, which I found a bit unfortunate... But that was probably due to the time of day. The restrooms were clean. We'd be happy to come back.

I was in Leipzig between Christmas and New Year's. Since this restaurant was across the street from my hotel, I decided to eat there. The food arrived relatively quickly, but apparently the card reader didn't work when I tried to pay. Thirty minutes after eating, I had stomach problems. My guess was that the food had been precooked and just reheated.

Nice restaurant, but with room for improvement. As others have mentioned, it's quite chilly inside. The dishes could also have been a bit warmer. It was just about right. The quality of the food was very good, though. The service was also extremely friendly and attentive.

'Breakfast buffet' not recommended! Sometimes you should listen to your first impression. And that has nothing to do with the price; even for €7.99, you can have a nice little buffet. First, you tell the buffet what you want, and it's placed on your plate. However, it's neither labeled nor easy to recognize from a distance. It's almost impossible for children to see it. The scrambled eggs were rubbery, dry, and musty. Generally, there's very little selection. It's quite possible that the focus is on lunch and dinner, and that might be much better. But if you've been put off by breakfast once, you won't come back, no matter what. And if the restrooms are out of soap in the morning, that doesn't make a good impression either. We quickly ate a roll and went to the nearest bakery.

We went to the Lukas bakery around the corner. Great atmosphere, warm room temperature, delicious food.

Emil and Moritz impresses with delicious home-style cooking at very fair prices. The dishes are down-to-earth, freshly prepared, and served in generous portions. The friendly and attentive service is particularly noteworthy – you immediately feel welcome. If you're looking for good, honest food in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to be.

We had breakfast and dinner at Emil and Moritz. We were extremely satisfied with everything, but the breakfast servers need some training. Otherwise, we give them a big thumbs-up. We'd love to come back.

Breakfast buffet. Well, the concept with the waitress at the buffet is a bit strange, but it would be ok if you could properly see what was available. The waiter was borderline. Glasses were touched at the top where you put your mouth to drink. And fingers were sometimes used to help open it. (I assume the boss came a little later) he was more than friendly and competent. However, we won't be going there again. It's a shame, the atmosphere is great. The price at 7.90 without drinks is ok and you don't expect a gourmet breakfast.

The selection is far too small and the staff is very tense. I was told on the phone that it was All You Can Eat but when we arrived they said we could only order from a menu. So I think it's very bad.

We were in the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon before the RBL home game. Although the restaurant was very busy, the service was calm and friendly. The waitress didn't let the high level of stress bother her. Well, the portions weren't particularly generous, but they weren't expensive. It was tasty and we were always full.

A very nice restaurant in the heart of Leipzig with friendly and courteous service and delicious food. There is one small drawback: It is very dark...but that seems to be because it is a sky bar and you can watch football on many monitors. Still highly recommended. We'd love to come back.

Ordered at short notice for a small birthday group, no problem at all. Ate all the kart. Everyone enjoyed it. All wishes were taken into account. An extra card for children to color in. Price performance was definitely right, every time we are in Leipzig. Very, very friendly staff.

Had dinner last night after an RB Leipzig home game. Staff very friendly and accommodating. We kept asking about wishes and whether everything was good. Food was very tasty. We had the Hamburger Schnitzel and lemon spaghetti. Price performance ratio top. Would come back at any time.

I was here today for schnitzel with my son. The food was very tasty. We felt very comfortable here in a beautiful atmosphere and with very attentive service staff.

Super great service. Very attentive and great with the children. Food was okay. Had to add some seasoning but I don't think that's a big deal. Better this way than the other way around. The pumpkin soup was very ginger-heavy. Strong on the border, I have to say. Were there in the evening. Bread was empty but we were very kindly offered oven-fresh rolls. The herb butter was homemade and super delicious. The television was a bit too loud for us. Made the chatting a bit tiring. Very nice, young man in service who really does a great job

I was on a school trip to Leipzig last week and we ate at Emil & Moritz every evening. The staff was very friendly. I didn't like the food, at times it tasted like it had been warmed up in the microwave. On the first evening there was currywurst and fries, I was looking forward to it. The first thing I wondered was why the currywurst looked green/yellowish. I chose the non-vegan option. In addition, my food was often not seasoned properly. The selection of drinks was good but there wasn't enough. There were glasses per person that contained approx. 200ml. However, these were not filled to the 200ml mark. Often the glass was already empty before we got the food. The drinks came very quickly but we had to wait a long time for the food.

Were here on a school trip. First meal: gray, oily, undercooked schnitzel. The restaurant itself is nice and clean but the food disappointed me.

Went there for lunch today because it was recommended, what can you say about that. Service was great and food was a flop. Food not seasoned, half raw and cold and that with the prices. Food was sent back and something else was ordered but the same thing. If there are 4 chefs, you should consider sending today's chef back to training on how to season, etc. Approaches. We were here today and wanted German cuisine again and I have to say, SIMPLY GREAT 👍🏼

We went here for the breakfast buffet 2 days in a row while on vacation. The price is absolutely fine, I just wish that at least normal filter coffee had been included in the price. You don't have to like the principle of ordering everything individually from the waiter and the waiter then puts it on your plate, but I can at least partially understand it, even if I personally didn't like it. But you will also be told beforehand how the whole thing will work. Normally, the cook comes forward from the kitchen every time and then fills up the plates. Every now and then the boss serves himself, and unfortunately I have to deduct points here. Of course, our two children wanted to eat pancakes (even though in my opinion they were actually just normal pancakes and there was no maple syrup with them) and I ordered three pancakes with applesauce twice. I was then given two small plates with two pancakes on each and the applesauce was simply slapped on without asking. How are little children supposed to eat something like that? With a knife and fork? No, our kids usually roll them up and dip them in the applesauce. Well, what can I say, I then went to the front again and was then served sensibly by the chef, who did exactly as requested. The second time we went to get pancakes for the children, the boss came over again and looked into the empty bowl and just said, it might take a while... Sorry, but I can't express myself to a guest like that. But then he was nice enough and brought the finished pancakes to the table, of course again in his style with applesauce slapped on them... so we had to eat them and not the children. In general, the selection at breakfast is a bit limited and there are a few small highlights missing, but it's okay for the price. However, the atmosphere is really great and we really liked it.

It was very tasty, nice service, great German cuisine like grandma's. Children's schnitzel and noodles were super tasty, especially the prices... Our children haven't had such a cheap meal in ages. My beef liver was fried a little too long, but it happened. Conclusion... top food at great prices with a great ambience, we'll be back.

Update: Disappointing breakfast experience 😥 Unfortunately, our last visit for the "All You Can Eat" breakfast on Sunday did not live up to our expectations. The concept of ordering at the buffet and having your plate served remains, but unfortunately some negative changes have been made. Free coffee is no longer included in the price, and there are generally no drinks included. There is no bread, just normal or grain rolls, and the selection of sausages and cheeses is small. There are no signs, so it's hard to see what's on your plate at the counter, which makes choosing difficult. What struck us as particularly negative was that the employee at the buffet touched the plates with both hands and placed his thumbs across the plate - this is hygienically questionable. The service needs improvement as we were only able to order the drinks after everyone had picked up their breakfast. This led to unnecessary waiting time. Because of these experiences I unfortunately have to deduct stars. Only the great ambience and cleanliness save 2 stars. The location is very central in the city, right at Höfe am Brühl, which we really liked. The ambience is pleasant and beautifully designed. We really liked the breakfast buffet, including coffee, for €7.99 per person. The selection was simple, but the food was good. However, the style of the buffet was a bit unusual. You tell an employee standing in front of the buffet what you would like and she then puts it on your plate. Unfortunately, the employee wasn't particularly friendly and seemed annoyed. Her lack of a smile and the always same question “What else?” have spoiled the overall impression somewhat. What we noticed positively was that everything was clean. Overall we felt comfortable, even though it was a bit cool in the restaurant. However, there were heat sources in the restaurant where you could sit down to warm up. All in all, we had a good stay at Emil & Moritz, and despite a few minor flaws, we can recommend the breakfast offering.

We came here by chance on January 14, 2024. We actually just wanted coffee and cake, but we stayed longer so we also ate something here. We felt comfortable here because the service was really top-notch. You just felt welcome. Anyway, we will come back. Since there is a lot of criticism here about brunch that the drinks are no longer included in the price, some have already changed their concept after the Corona period. Unfortunately, it is the case that there will probably be further closures in the catering industry in the near future. because they can't hold on. Fewer guests, less sales, despite rising overall costs.

Went for all you can eat breakfast. Prefer to take the food myself instead of having to tell the waiter yes I want 2 tomato, 2 olive , 1 cheese etc. Understand that they want to not waste any food but its just annoying.

The operator was world class friendly and accommodating. The young man - Was that Emil or Moritz? - please be sure to stop! We had the offer of coffee and cake for €3.50, there were two types of cake that were served to us slightly warmed (or even fresh from the oven?). There are seats inside and outside, it is modernly decorated and there is a toilet. Keep it up!
