Overall, there's really nothing to complain about. The food tastes very good, and the staff is very friendly. I do find the prices a bit steep, though; compared to another schnitzel restaurant where I paid €6 more for the same meal, I paid €3.90 more. The portion of fries is an extra €3.90.

The schnitzel was excellent, but unfortunately, our clothes smelled like we'd eaten in a kitchen without a fan after our visit. We'll be back – but in the summer, to the beer garden.

There were four of us at the Schnitzelschmiede restaurant, and we all ordered the classic Viennese veal schnitzel with a crudités garnish and jus – each with different side dishes. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food overall. The meat was very thin and tough, and neither the meat nor the breading was seasoned. The breading had a rather bready taste and wasn't crispy, and it lacked the typical buttery flavor. The jus tasted like a ready-made red wine sauce and didn't really suit a Viennese schnitzel, in our opinion. On the positive side, I'd like to highlight the crudités garnish, which was well-seasoned. However, my side dish, the potato wedges, had some very dark spots that one would normally remove from fresh potatoes. The service was generally friendly, but after our first drink, we had to wait about 20 minutes without being asked if we needed anything else. Only after the meal were we served were we asked much more frequently if we wanted anything else. As for the ambiance, we were seated right by the entrance door, which meant that the constant opening and closing of the door in the approximately -3°C (27°F) temperature regularly made our legs very cold. A partition between the doorway and the surrounding tables would be a good idea, in my opinion. I addressed our criticism openly and objectively on-site, emphasizing that I see this as an opportunity for improvement. I generally appreciate it when restaurants are open to feedback. And that's precisely why I'll give Schnitzelschmiede a second chance. I sincerely hope the quality improves on my next visit. I agree that meat is a natural product. However, that doesn't diminish the quality you offer your guests. Regardless of how a schnitzel is hand-cut or how long a jus is cooked, what ultimately matters is the final product on the plate. In our case, the schnitzel was dry, unseasoned, and the breading was neither crispy nor flavorful. Similarly, the jus didn't seem to complement the dish. These are not theoretical assessments, but concrete impressions from a visit. I addressed our dissatisfaction objectively and explicitly formulated it as constructive feedback. It is regrettable that this was not passed on internally – this is precisely where I see the core of the problem: criticism is explained, but not reflected upon. The reference to many satisfied guests is understandable, but it does not change our individual experience. The statement that dishes are generally under-seasoned and therefore condiment sets are available strikes me not as a sign of quality, but as a fallback solution. I would have appreciated a more open, self-critical response, in the sense of taking feedback seriously. The food was delicious. The staff were always attentive and fulfilled almost every request. The atmosphere is very cozy, with food-related sayings on the wall.

Visually appealing from the outside, the interior is okay. The schnitzels were alright, but unfortunately the side dishes, in my case the mushrooms, weren't quite up to par. Neither the mulled wine nor the cola were of restaurant quality.

Okay, let's be honest and get down to brass tacks. This was my first time here and I won't be coming back... Are there people writing reviews who can't even cook? 🤦🏻‍♂️... I'd definitely give the food a 2 out of 5, I'd say it was okay... The service was a complete disaster that evening... We were a whole group. It was an absolute nightmare with the orders, they mixed up what some people had ordered, forgot or ordered the wrong side dishes, for example, schnitzel with Camembert and cranberries... The cranberries arrived after the person had already finished eating, and only after we'd asked. For two people, the food arrived 25 minutes late after repeated inquiries, once everyone had finished eating and there was a discussion about what had been ordered. In a restaurant, this is an absolute mistake, truly awful... completely unacceptable... a teacher would give it a failing grade... Addendum... and before any wrong conclusions are drawn, I am not a member of the US Car Club Gera and do not represent the club's views... I was just a companion, and this is my impression and my opinion... period. ✌🏻

The atmosphere at Schnitzelschmiede is great. Unfortunately, we had to wait a very long time for our food, the last one an hour and a half. The waiter was completely overwhelmed (we were about 20 guests) and at times very unfriendly. Side dishes were missing and it took a very long time for them to be replenished. Paying the bill wasn't smooth either. Very disappointing 😞

We've eaten here many times and have always left satisfied and stuffed. Sure, not everything is always perfect, but when it's said directly, it's acted upon immediately – that's human nature. We've always found the value for money right. Child-friendly, clean, and tidy surroundings at every visit. We were here on Wednesday, schnitzel day. It lived up to its promise – they served a variety of schnitzels at great prices. The quality was okay, nothing spectacular, but okay for the price. The service was a bit stingy, but the drinks came quickly. There were quite a few of them, as it was brutally hot inside. The heating was definitely on full blast. Getting there with Google Maps was tricky, and we arrived at the delivery entrance. Perhaps a scavenger hunt would have been a better alternative.

Unfortunately, I have to say the food was very disappointing. The fried potatoes were seasoned with caraway seeds, and the mushrooms had a strange taste. Our complaint was completely ignored. The prices are too high for the food they delivered. What a shame.

Yesterday, five of us, including our toddler, went for a meal and were warmly welcomed. The little one also got her food quickly, so she didn't get in a bad mood. Everyone enjoyed the food. The interior looks a bit dated, with lots of plastic flowers. The directions could be improved; we ended up on the wrong side. The blacksmith's schnitzel with three toppings is particularly recommended. Excellent value for money, we'll be back.

Considering it's a "schnitzel factory," I wasn't particularly impressed with the food. A very good selection of food! Plenty of options to choose from. The taste was okay, but unfortunately, it didn't appeal to me. The size and price are unfair. It was very small, and you also have to pay extra for the side dishes. My fried potatoes for €3.50 weren't worth it. Unfortunately, I can't recommend eating there.

It's a shame that this beautiful restaurant is a challenge for wheelchair and walker users. There were five of us and everyone chose their schnitzel based on their personal preference. I opted for the Schnitzel SaltimBocca with Kaisergemüse and onion-Parmesan sauce plus croquettes. The schnitzel tasted very good, as did the croquettes, but the Kaisergemüse wasn't what I'm used to. Mostly cauliflower, little to no broccoli and it was cooked far too soft. The onion-Parmesan sauce made the whole thing worse. This can be done better! Otherwise, the staff were very friendly, quick and attentive! As I said, it's a shame that the restaurant isn't wheelchair accessible!

We took a detour from our trip to eat at this restaurant again, and it was a good decision. A great variety of schnitzels (all good), a very pretty restaurant with a large terrace, and the banana beer was delicious. They gave us a table even though we didn't have a reservation. We'll definitely return next time we're in Germany.

We stopped here spontaneously on the day we left Gera. For unfamiliar people, the journey takes a bit of getting used to. But I have to say, the grounds and the restaurant are a wonderful oasis in a dreary environment. It's beautifully decorated, and the food was really good. The prices are absolutely reasonable, so you could actually eat here more often. The service was very friendly. I would definitely recommend it.

We went to the Schnitzelschmiede for the first time today and we ate very well. The food was super tasty and very filling. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. We can only recommend the restaurant.

2 adults and 2 children were eating. It was a birthday dinner. The order was taken because I was living healthy for reasons of illness. I saw the vegetable pan and the cellar explained that it was spicy. Information was not available on the menu. I then did this. I wanted to season the Greek salad only with salt and pepper and oil. This was immediately rejected. A short time later it was possible. We waited about 30 minutes for the food. There were 4 tables occupied. An appetizer and a schnitzel were ordered for my older son, both of which arrived at the same time. Organization was zero. After my mother's meal, then my salad, after about 10 minutes I asked for my little son's pirate plate and I was looked at in shock. The cellar lady said just a moment. I asked after that and it came out and it wasn't booked at all. About 5 minutes later the schnitzel was ready and very carelessly prepared. The older son didn't charge for the ice cream sundae dessert, but we don't want to go there anymore. Today my little son is feeling sick, vomiting and suspects the schnitzel and fries were baked in the old fat.

We just arrived in Gera today and after a six hour drive you would like to eat something. The restaurant was within walking distance and despite there being numerous reservation cards on the tables, we were welcome to sit down even without a reservation. That was TOP! We sat in the evening sun, the waitresses were all friendly and accommodating. Since we were there on a Wednesday, it was schnitzel day. These were very tasty schnitzels (one with Braumeister and one with Champions) and a cold beer, with pleasure again! That was great for you.

Disappointing! Unfriendly, overwhelmed from ordering to paying! Food not really tasty either. Examples: Carrot salad totally over salted (nothing like carrot and tasted fresh), potato pancakes half raw, and then applesauce with salty carrot salad! You don't have to do it! Pepperoni pickled sour and then supposedly grilled were limp and had nothing to do with the dish. Jus (sauce for meat) from Maggi or similar, seasoned, unfortunately not edible! Maybe we got it on the wrong day, but we really don't recommend it for the money.

The lady from the service replied: "Unfortunately there is nothing available outside in the beer garden" That suggests to me that there was something free inside. I then asked if there was anything available in the lower beer garden. This was our second time there and we were thrilled again. So thrilled that we'll be back in two weeks. The atmosphere is fantastic. But the most important thing, of course, is the schnitzel. Lots of variations and really tasty. Not greasy, and the meat is excellent. I didn't really have to cut it; a little pressure with the knife was enough. The fries were superbly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The mushrooms are definitely not from a can. One of the best tomato soups I've ever eaten. The fried potatoes, while not quite my taste in terms of seasoning, were excellent. They weren't greasy, nor burnt or too crispy. Everyone at our table who ordered the fried potatoes also thought they were absolutely delicious. (I'm just an oddity, but I didn't regret paying for them.) All in all, I highly recommend a visit. Due to the limited seating (during the winter months), I recommend making a reservation in advance. Great food, great staff, and a fantastic atmosphere.

I had a fantastic morning at the Schnitzelschmiede in Gera! The waitress was super friendly and attentive, and she immediately accommodated all of our extra requests, including providing a separate room for our group. What was particularly great was that the children were taken into account - art supplies were provided so that they could keep themselves busy while they ate. The food was simply delicious! I can only recommend the Postkutscheer Schnitzel, the Käseschnitzel and the Pizzaschnitzel – all were perfectly prepared and very tasty. The Hamburger Schnitzel was also a hit! The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting and I look forward to my next visit. Thank you for the great service and delicious food!

For a “normal” Viennese-style pork schnitzel €18.50 plus €3.50 for side dishes, I simply expect more. In comparison, there are real Viennese schnitzels in the area for the same price including side dishes. The schnitzels were very dry, very thick and poorly prepared, the breading immediately came off the schnitzel. We were really disappointed for such overpriced prices. The interior was shabby and not contemporary. The decoration was very tasteless and unclean. The service was also, without being offensive, very unkempt and not really inviting. If I'm going to unjustifiably charge such outrageous prices, then at least the rest should fit in a little bit... It's a shame about all that money!!!! Unfortunately we will not recommend it.

We were here as part of a Christmas party. The ambience is nice and cozy. We were quite high up in the building and so among ourselves. Due to the long distance from the ground floor upstairs, it took a short while until everyone was supplied with drinks - but the service was regularly there to take further orders. The menu is packed with a variety of dishes - mainly schnitzel in all variations. The large selection is great but sometimes customers and the service are overwhelmed. The food was delicious, we all agreed. It was a shame that the fried potatoes arrived cold on the plate. Overall, a great evening with nice service. The Schnitzelschmiede is definitely worth a visit

Good food, the price is ok, although for a schnitzel forge in the true sense of the word, it was a bit small. We are full, no question, but, as I said. Schnitzelschmiede has to be able to do more. To celebrate my mother's birthday, we reserved a table for 5 p.m. at the Schnitzelschmiede in Gera. When we got there on time, a female service person standing behind the counter pointed out to us in a very unfriendly and harsh manner that we had supposedly only made a reservation for 5:30 p.m. We probably caught exactly the same service person who has already been complained about several times. In my opinion, completely inappropriate... the guest is still king and she should have reacted like her colleague, who finally wanted to appease us at the table and said someone had probably written it down incorrectly. Finally, the staff was friendly, the food came very quickly and the portions were reasonable for the price. The vegetables are frozen and cooked too soft, the so-called jus is tasteless... the dishes wouldn't be missing anything if you just left it out. Unfortunately my schnitzel "Schlossgespenst" was very burnt...luckily it didn't affect the taste. Overall, the food still tasted good. In conclusion, we won't be coming back because they don't seem to want to attract new guests, which was also very annoying that the front door doesn't close automatically and is always left open by arriving and departing guests...it was clearly too cold and my husband had to close the door several times. Perhaps investment should be made in staff training and automatic door locking.

There were six of us there. The food was very, very tasty and the portions were also decent. 1 of 6 schnitzels unfortunately went through and couldn't be eaten halfway through. One of our older companions asked kindly about the children's menu, as they preferred a small portion... That would be immediately denied, as there were no children present and they should have them packed up and taken with them... Maybe over a senior's plate and this one think about an inappropriate answer... The cocktails were also delicious. The service was quite friendly at the beginning, until you noticed the sharp undertone, especially from the (apparently) boss. Which brings us to the next point about service: you also have to pay attention to the appearance... 2 out of 3 at least wore uniform clothing. 3rd person in a casual look... Not possible at all... And played around with his hair a lot. A no-go for service. The ambience was very nice until I noticed the spiders on the facade... Just remove them every now and then with a long broom. All in all we had a nice evening, but some points need improvement.

There is a good selection of drinks and a great selection of x different schnitzel variations. You can not only choose between turkey or pork but also the size of the portions. The food is fresh and very tasty prepared and presented. It tastes great and the portions are really sporty. The service is very, very friendly and attentive, as well as very quick service. The schnitzel, sauces and side dishes were very tasty and fresh. According to the owner, the salad on the plate from the morning is unfortunately not fresh. The timing between the starter and the main course was a disaster; both were brought to the table within 5 minutes. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful.

We were passing through and wanted to have a leisurely meal, which we can say 100%. It was a beautiful, newly renovated manor house in a quiet natural location. Nevertheless, I can't agree with the lower reviews regarding the quality and, above all, the price. A children's portion of fried potatoes with 2 small fried eggs for 15 euros. I thought it was made a bit like a farmer's breakfast. None. Sorry but that really blew me away. Also the schnitzel for €17.90 plus a €3.50 side dish. Craziness We're not in Jena or Erfurt. I'm sorry, but with the pricing policy it will be difficult to get regular customers.

We arrived from Austria, 2 people at 5:30 p.m. We didn't know that you had to make a reservation, even though almost the entire garden was empty. The waitress said that everything would be full in half an hour, and I said that it certainly wouldn't be like that, she said yes, but since there were only two people, they couldn't do it. The service team is very friendly and the ambience is fine. That's actually it...Seniors are not allowed to order a "children's plate", each side dish is charged separately. It's worth saying here, cheap frozen wave fries for €3.50 as a side dish plus 50 cents for ketchup is interesting... yes, you actually pay extra for ketchup... a positive thing to mention is that there are a lot of schnitzel variants but that Schnitzel in itself is not a hit...You expect more from a "schnitzel forge"...

I came to visit from Dresden today and we were guests here in the evening. At the end of the day I can say we made a really good choice with “Schnitzelschmiede”. Food and service top. Even our youngest family member (1) felt comfortable. Thanks to the team.

All in all very good and can only be recommended. What should be highlighted positively is that there is also a children's high chair and a changing area. So it's also child-friendly.

Today we went to the Schnitzelschmiede with 10 people including a small child to celebrate my 40th birthday. Despite the information, the table was neither ready when we arrived nor set in any way or anything like that. The brunette service person was very rude and immediately made us feel unwelcome. Her sharp and absolutely inappropriate tone then did the rest. The food was quite good, although it had the wrong side dish, but I didn't even dare to complain about it. I would have liked to buy the children some ice cream, but we preferred to go to an ice cream parlor where children are also welcome. All in all, it's nice if you don't have children and don't want to go out to eat with a large group.
