Kutscherhaus in Gera

Fantastic restaurant. We were there for coffee and dinner as part of a family celebration. Attentive and charming staff. The cakes and pastries were delicious. A great selection was available for dinner. I ordered a dish: venison goulash with red cabbage and ribbon noodles. The goulash was tender without falling apart and had a very delicate flavor, the red cabbage was extremely tasty, and the noodles were cooked to perfection. Definitely recommended. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos, but everything was already set and the tables were stylishly decorated.

I moved away from Gera over 30 years ago. But we've come back every few years. We've also been to the Kutscherhaus. This time it was November 25th. I mainly come for the nougat ice cream sundae. Back then, they had it at the Sorge restaurant. Unfortunately, it doesn't look so nice there anymore. This time there wasn't quite enough nougat on it... but we'll be back. We celebrated my parents' birthday today in the coach house. The door was opened for us, and we wished the blonde lady, I think she's around fifty, a good morning. She responded very rudely, saying she hadn't had a good morning. That's how you welcome your guests. Luckily, I have to say, we had two very nice trainees serving us; the "professionals" could learn a thing or two from them. Our lunch was truly delicious and plentiful, and the cake is also highly recommended. The ambiance is very pleasant and cozy. The 5-star service rating applies only to the two trainees who served us on the upper floor from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

If you're looking for a bite to eat after visiting the exhibition, this is the place to go. The restaurant was very busy. We had homemade cake and coffee. All delicious. We could have eaten in, though.

A very cozy restaurant with very friendly staff, no long wait times, and the food was also good. It's divided into various rooms, perfect for a romantic dinner for two or a larger celebration with family or company. It also has an upper floor and an outdoor area. The restaurant is well located, right next to the large parking lot.

We were there for coffee; the wait was short, there was a wide variety of cakes, and the coffee was tasty. We'd love to come back.

I was really looking forward to the delicious Kutscherhaus Burger. Unfortunately, the quality isn't what it used to be. The ingredients should be re-examined. The meat was good, the burger bun was crispy on the outside and soggy on the inside, probably meant to be tomato butter. It didn't taste like butter or tomato. A red, oily liquid was dripping from the bun. Parmesan cheese wasn't that great either. The barbecue sauce was on the plate, not on the burger. I've had much better burgers, but unfortunately, I can't recommend them anymore. A lot of junk for even more money. The price-performance ratio isn't right here anymore. I want the old burgers back. The side salad was even better. The pizza was delicious, the crust unfortunately wasn't as crispy, but it was okay. The seasoned meat was very good, highly recommended. Big praise for the service, very friendly and competent.

We ordered 5 schnitzels with buttered potatoes, hollandaise sauce and cauliflower. The food was nice. Nice schnitzel but with a bit of boring side dishes. We were full.

A breaded pork schnitzel for €20, with potatoes and cauliflower... completely overpriced and not even particularly tasty.

Great restaurant, it was delicious. There were six of us, and all the food arrived at the table at the same time. Our request for a change was accepted, and they asked if we wanted more vegetables. The food was hot, beautifully presented, and very plentiful. Reservations are recommended, otherwise you might be out of luck and not get a table. We'd be happy to come back.

We couldn't be happier. A very nice selection of dishes, not the usual monotony, but much with that certain something extra. I would have liked to try more, but the portions were so large that I couldn't have it for the time being – but then again. The ambiance is contemporary, and we immediately felt at home – the very friendly and attentive service also contributed to this. The prices are very fair.

An unforgettable, legendary experience – but unfortunately in the wrong sense. Even the reception was something very special: We were forced to sit at our table for what felt like an eternity before anyone deigned to acknowledge us. The waiter obviously desperately needed a massage before serving us – you have to set priorities. When we finally wanted to order, we were told: "The coffee machine is already off." Of course, who would expect guests wanting coffee at this time of night? Tea? No such luck. Why? Well, that will probably remain the house's secret. So the only option was Coke – it came without carbonation, but with a €5 price tag. A real delicacy for lovers of stale soft drinks. The atmosphere? Wonderful if you like that "eviction mood." It was uncomfortable, and you had the feeling you were just disturbing everyone because you'd actually come to order something, which is logical when you go to a restaurant. Conclusion: If you like paying a lot for a little, and still feeling discreetly sent away, please go this way. Everyone else: Go somewhere else.

A scoop of ice cream to go costs 1.80, and the small size is expensive. Truly meager scoops. Not a gram too much. Friendliness is also a foreign word. Not recommended.

I was there for coffee. I ate chocolate strawberry cake and drank an espresso. I couldn't resist the ice cream after all. Everything was delicious. Large beer garden in front of the restaurant, plenty of seating inside and even more upstairs. Rooms for family celebrations can be booked. Huge parking lot in front of the restaurant (some parking spaces are subject to a fee). Note: The street in front of the parking lot is free for 2 hours with a parking meter (blue). A large public park in the rear outer area can be used for walks and play activities. Before taking a seat, please order your cake at the cake counter inside. Then give the slip to the wait staff with the rest of your order. Service was very good. The ambiance is clean and well-maintained. Orders are processed promptly, and changes are accepted and explained in a friendly manner. Thank you...I'll be happy to come back. A little tip: If you'd like to enjoy your espresso with a small glass of water, as usual, you should order it separately. (Not included)

Definitely recommended. The menu is a bit oddly put together. Most of the food is tasty. The meat is sometimes tough or not cooked properly. What a shame!

Simply delighted: great atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food, all freshly prepared. Even though it was a busy Saturday, both inside and outside, we were able to get a table by phone for 6 p.m. My husband had a copper pan and I had the salad bowl. It's a shame there isn't anything like that in our area. We had a wonderful evening.

We were just sitting in the coach house enjoying coffee and cake. Everything was delicious, especially the homemade cake. During our stay, we were "allowed" to watch the counter staff clean the cake display inside and out, even though it was full of cakes. It didn't look appetizing. What a shame!

Despite a telephone reservation for three people (confirmed twice), nothing was noted on site. The staff seemed overwhelmed and uncoordinated; one member of staff felt she was not in charge. There seems to be no coordination within the team. After a long wait, we were offered a bistro table that was far too small (50x50cm) for three people, even though larger tables were available. Absolutely unprofessional for a restaurant of this standard. We left the restaurant disappointed and annoyed. In my opinion, absolutely not recommended!!!

Very nice place, nice Russian style, just as you would expect from a carriage house, the food is very tasty, varied and the drinks are also very good and the service is simply fantastic, you are in wonderful hands here, if I am ever in that direction again, I will definitely come back here.

Very tasty and good value for money

Very nice restaurant, with a family atmosphere. The meat was delicious, just right and without losing flavor. The pizza is crispy and very delicious. On the weekend my advice is to book because there are many people. Upstairs there is a place to reserve as well as for meetings. In my opinion, more waiters are needed, they seemed a little stressed by the number of people, but congratulations for the service, they were always with a good attitude and attentive to needs. Very clean bathrooms. And the lower terrace seems to be very pleasant in summer. The desserts are delicious and not to mention the ice creams. I definitely recommend a delicious melon ice cream.

Sehr leckeres Essen von Burger über Schnitzel zu Gemüsecurry, Reichhaltige Getränkekarte. Abwechslungsreiches Salatbuffet. Netter Service. Zusammen mit der sehr guten Lage in der Nähe der Orangerie eine absolute Empfehlung. Einziger Kritikpunkt wäre die Tatsache, dass unsere etwas größere Gruppe (ca. 70 Teilnehmende) im ganzen Restaurant verstreut war und es so schwierig war, die gewünschten Gespräche zu führen.

This restaurant was recommended to me by friends, but I cannot recommend it to others. I ordered the rump steak well done. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤮 It came medium with a great fat edge. Every bite left me with a piece of fat cartilage or tendon in my mouth. A complaint was made and I was offered another meal. I then let my friend persuade me to have a schnitzel. However, my face fell asleep when I paid. I was brazenly charged in full for the steak even though it was sent back to the kitchen. When I asked, I was told that I had already eaten a few bites. So I think a schnitzel that wasn't really convincing for €33 is outrageous! A steak that was of such poor quality that you would never have called it steak is not worth €33!

Very cozy atmosphere and a little highlight in Gera. Super nice service paired with very tasty food and really great ideas when preparing the dishes. The menu isn't huge, but what's on it is correct and there's still something for every taste. Very harmonious restaurant concept and the prices match the quality offered. I'd love to come back.

A very cozy and beautiful location. Well furnished and you can feel really comfortable here. There is a dish for everyone on the not-too-large menu. There is also a large selection of cakes and cakes. If I get the chance, I'll definitely stop by here again.

Celebrated a birthday, ate a la carte. The restaurant was busy and catered for 21 birthday guests separately, but they didn't want to eat at the same time. In my opinion, a masterpiece that suits tribes so well. Of course there was a mix-up with the food composition, but everything was corrected quickly and competently.

Erstmalig im Kutscherhaus gewesen und absolut positiv überrascht. Sehr gemütlich, freundliches Personal, tolle Location und zu guter Letzt, Mega leckeres Essen. Wir (Personen) hatten Entenkeule mit Rotkohl und Klößen, Burger, Wildgulasch mit Klößen, Roulade mit Klößen, Schnitzel und Kutscherpfanne. Alles lecker und Preis Leistung in sehr guten Verhältnis. Klare Empfehlung!

Nice restaurant, food very good, service top! What particularly stands out for me are the great cakes. If possible, we get some on Sundays or drink coffee in the coach house. One drawback: very loud background noise. If you sit for a long time it can get tiring because you have to speak quite loudly to have a conversation. Despite that, for me the best in Gera!

I just wanted to order a table for coffee for 6 people by phone on a Sunday afternoon at the end of January. Apparently you're not allowed to place an order during coffee time. The lady on the phone couldn't change my request for an exception and also my point that we were coming from out of town and that it was a gift followed by a visit to the theater. All that ensued was an unpleasant exchange of words. The establishment must be doing very well if you can afford such interaction/service with potential guests. What a shame!

Service great, very friendly and accommodating 👍 The background noise was very loud and the flashing tree (it's in the yard, but I had a place to sit where I always had to keep an eye on the "tree"😡) was unnecessary. The food was not good, pepper steak was very, very hard and totally dry, the fried potatoes were not well seasoned and far from fried potatoes. I was very disappointed 😞

I was actually really looking forward to the coach house, also because of the good reviews. BUT despite pre-ordering, we had to wait 10 minutes. Our table was prepared for the second loud complaint. The “preparation” consisted of asking guests to leave so that “our table” would be free. Given the space available, this is a disgrace. When we arrived at our table (damaged seating) we couldn't even understand our own words. So there was no sense of a pleasant atmosphere. Then you complain and you get cheeky answers. Rarely experienced such poor service. Unfortunately I can't report anything about the food as we left straight away. We didn't want to celebrate our birthday in such an environment (loudness/service).

Wir kommen aus Dresden und sind öfter in Gera. Diesmal hatten wir für eine Familienfeier für Mittag/Kaffee telefonisch einen Tisch reserviert. Die freundliche Antwort auf unsere Frage nach glutenfreiem Essen : "Es gibt eine Alergenkarte, sprechen Sie unser Bedienung an, wir werden was finden." stimmte uns zuversichtlich. Auf meine Frage vor Ort, bekam ich zur Antwort, ich könnte alles essen, Soßen werden nicht mit Mehl angedickt, es wird Soßenkuchen verwendet. Meine Nachfrage zu den Inhaltsstoffen von Soßenkuchen wurden abgeschmettert. Ich bekam dann doch die Allergenkarte und habe ein Gemüsecurry gefunden. Zum Nachtisch wollten wir Eis bestellen und ich bat nochmal um die Allergenekarte. Mit der Bemerkung, ob ich schon mal Eis mit Mehl gegessen hätte, das Eis wäre alles glutenfrei, habe ich davon abgesehen. Schade für diese wirklich schöne Gaststätte und die freundlichen Servicekräfte die Essen und Getränke an den Tisch bringen, aber bei soviel ignoranter Inkompetenz durch die Servicekraft die die Bestellung aufnimmt, werden wir hier nicht mehr einkehren.

Very nicely decorated restaurant. With the possibility of celebrating separately in a closed company. The service is tried hard, but like everywhere else you can't do more than work. The food was sufficient and everyone enjoyed it 😋. The selection also had something for every taste, from vegetarian to schnitzel, to burger pizza 🍕 to homemade ice cream.
