Wiener Schnitzel tasted perfect

We were at the Zugspitz Resort campsite and had dinner at the Schmölzer Wirt one evening. The reservation in advance worked very well. The restaurant was full to capacity that evening, but the service was still incredibly friendly!!! TOP what you deliver here!!! We had a nice seat, the drinks came quickly, and the order was taken quickly and, as written above, in a super friendly manner. We had a Kaaspressknödel soup first which was really good, for the main course we had the Viennese style schnitzel and the pork fillet. Both were good but both have room for improvement. Unfortunately, the spaetzle for the pork fillet was not homemade, this would definitely have given the dish more points... All in all, a solid dinner. The service is absolutely worth highlighting, it is really mega!!!!!

A very tasty restaurant with Bavarian delicacies. We ended up in this restaurant completely by chance and had a great evening. The atmosphere is modern but very suitable for Bavaria. The food was very good, I had duck, my husband had steak. The steak was perfectly medium rare and the quality of the meat was very good in both dishes. The service was courteous and friendly.

Very very nice restaurant and great service. But not cheap, as is so often the case in Garmisch. Highly recommend the tartare with bread. Really great. Rarely have I had such a good tartare. Pork fillet with spaetzle and cream mushroom sauce... Meat good, not seasoned enough, but good. Sauce was also good, but in my opinion the spaetzle wasn't homemade. At over 20 euros for the dish... not so ok. In my opinion. The roast pork for just under 18 euros was actually nothing. Sauce very thick and probably not homemade. The dumplings probably came from a bag too. But the meat was much worse. Dry and the taste... like in a huge canteen. Crust was good though. Really a shame. And I know what roast pork should taste like - I'm from Bavaria! I would like to add that this is my opinion and that of my wife. I don't want to suggest to anyone that they switched to convenience products due to increased costs and effort... especially because costs in the catering industry have risen massively. But price performance should still be taken into account. It's a shame because it's a great restaurant and great service.

If you are ever in the area, stop by, you won't be disappointed. You are greeted warmly and welcomed. Staff very friendly and extra requests are implemented very well. The food shines and tastes very good. The portions of the food and the price/performance ratio are completely fine, thanks to the kitchen. Which is otherwise kept open. The ambience is very warm and inviting, and when the weather is good it's worth sitting outside and enjoying the area with a perfect view of the water and mountains.

Do you miss service in the catering industry? Definitely not a very nice service person here 😇 from the greeting to the service to the farewell. Food was great. 😋

We were very excited! Even though the entire restaurant was already full, we were lovingly seated at the counter. Given the large selection of dishes, the decision took longer than the meal itself. Excellent cuisine and a good mix of classic Bavarian and modern cuisine. The waitresses were extremely friendly and accommodating. 6/5

We ate at the Schmölzer Wirt twice during our vacation and can absolutely recommend the restaurant. On the first evening we had a Wiener Schnitzel and pork loins. On the second evening the roast roast (see photo). In summer you can end the evening beautifully by the stream.

I'll start with the most important one; The food (Wiener Schnitzel) was incredibly tasty. The prices are absolutely right for this quality. The welcome was very warm and we felt very comfortable right from the start. The house is very nicely furnished and has very nice, cozy light. The staff, we have been there several times, have always been very friendly and accommodating. I can't find anything negative with the best will in the world. We will definitely come back to this beautiful house next year. Many thanks to the team!

The Kaiserschmarrn doesn't work at all. I ordered this as a main course. It looked delicious, but it was more of a dessert, not fluffy at all and completely over-sweetened. No recommendation

The restaurant made a very good impression at first glance. We were quickly seated at one of the tables. The menu was very appealing and we quickly decided on roast pork (my husband) and meat patties (myself). The roast pork was excellent and served with a crust. Unfortunately the meat patties weren't that great. They were very "crusty" around the edges. It looked to me like these were warmed in the microwave. As a side dish there was a potato and rocket salad that was completely unseasoned. Overall, it wasn't a tasty dinner for me.

A very nice atmosphere and friendly people who are there for you. We had rump steak and onion roast. The meat was excellent and cooked exactly as desired. Plus a delicious mixed salad. The wine list also leaves nothing to be desired. If you still like something well distilled at the end. Everything top and recommended.

Very tasty food at normal prices. If you want to eat outside, you have to hope to get a free table, which usually seems to work! Beautifully located by the stream. Unfortunately, the waiter was almost alone outside that evening, so he was busy, but not overloaded. The waiting time was completely ok!

Very good and nice inn with a good selection of food at fair prices. Unfortunately, the change to our reservation was not processed correctly, which of course can always happen. The greeting, however, was more of an “Angepame.” by the lady at the reservation book. . Already outside in the beer garden, people waiting across tables were being shouted at by a female waitress asking whether they had ordered. During the meal itself, the service employee responsible for us was extremely friendly and nice after initial, unfriendly and stressful initial difficulties. However, it took a wave of the fence post before he went in that direction. Maybe I'll come there again... But I definitely won't allow myself to be treated like that again... It's really a shame... It is really a beautiful inn with extremely good cuisine.

The quantity of the food was very less compared to the german standard and hence not worth the price. The service was great. A smile on the waitress makes a difference.. there is a stream beside the restaurant which is beautiful. Has enough parking places for the visitors..

Went there twice, both times the food was very good. There is a small criticism of the Viennese style schnitzel, it wasn't quite to our taste. But the sirloin with mushrooms and especially the onion roast were exceptionally good. Clear recommendation. Price/performance is completely satisfactory. Gladly again

The tastiest Kaiserschmarren I've eaten in a long time. The perfect end to a lap around the Eibsee. It's right on the street, but the sound of the water doesn't bother you. The price is a little higher, but the portions are large and the taste is great!

We can highly recommend the restaurant. Very tasty food, large portions, good value for money, very friendly service, great ambience and extra parking spaces. Comment on other reviews: Someone previously wrote in a review that a schnitzel would cost €30, yes, that's true - but that's also veal, but that's a normal price (in my opinion) and someone else said the mushrooms were canned, I can only say the opposite! We had beef broth as a starter, pork loin as the main course and Kaiserschmarrn for dessert 👌🏼

The food was very tasty, but unfortunately the schnitzel wasn't completely cooked in the middle. We also passed this on to the staff, but they said that shouldn't be the case and passed it on to the cook. But then nothing came of it. It was a bit of a shame :(

Sorry guys, that was nothing! I ordered the roast pork - a good roast pork is hard to chew and melts in your mouth. This one comes on the plate cold to lukewarm, which says it all, and is not even served with any cabbage. I think the level can be compared to a motorway service station, but the price would like to offer something different. Nevertheless, the service is quite good, which led me to give it two stars. So if you have a bit of a demand for good food, you should give it a wide berth here.

Food was actually okay. To my taste, there was a bit of a lack of side dishes (e.g. salad) and a bit more heat (pork fillets weren't exactly heated up very well). In my opinion it was a bit too expensive. But otherwise everything was okay...

Food was reasonable, the schnitzel for €30 really doesn't come close to what it used to be in the 1990s. When paying, it is a bit difficult to pay, prefer to pay in cash. they had 2 ATMs. Then also charge extra tip without mentioning it. Well, sour aftertaste.

Der Schmölzerwirt fällt schon bei der Einfahrt nach GAP (Grainau) ins Auge. Jahrelang haben wir ihn rechts liegen lassen, doch dieses Jahr waren wir gleich zweimal da. Und wir kommen sicher noch öfter. Meganetter Service, tolles Ambiente drinnen wie draußen (am Flus) und leckeres Essen zu fairen Preisen. Da gibt es nix zu meckern!

I recently had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, despite the food being excellent. When I made my reservation, I was informed that they don’t reserve outside tables, but I was encouraged to try my luck when I arrived. However, upon arrival, the hostess simply shook her head and dismissed my request for an outside table, offering no explanation. Instead, we were seated in a stifling room with a tiny window. When I asked our waitress about the possibility of an outside table, she rudely insisted it wasn’t possible. I mentioned seeing a six-top table available outside, and she responded with unnecessary hostility, essentially challenging me to prove it. This kind of treatment towards guests is unacceptable. While the kitchen staff clearly knows what they’re doing, the front-of-house team is sorely lacking in basic customer service skills. I won’t be returning due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of the staff, there are a few places in town that offer great food and friendly staff. Update: The reply to my review from the owner of this restaurant is deeply misleading. When I called to make a reservation, I was explicitly told that outdoor seating could not be reserved, with no mention whatsoever about the size of our party as a factor. Furthermore, at no point were we advised to wait ten minutes so tables could be combined—had that been suggested, we would have gladly waited. It’s disheartening that instead of addressing our concerns constructively, the owner chose to dismiss them by labeling us as liars. A successful business owner should understand that customer feedback is crucial for growth. Accepting criticism, apologizing for any shortcomings, and ensuring that all staff members treat paying customers with respect would go a long way in maintaining and improving the quality of the establishment.

Nice place, if you're lucky you can eat right by the stream. I ordered Wienerschnitzel, wasn't that tasty, as well as Kaiserschmarrn, expected more from this place. For me, this was once again confirmation that German cuisine is not for me.😑

The restaurant is located directly on the street. But the adjacent river is so loud that you can no longer hear the street. We had a burger and a bowl. The “bowl” is just a salad. Delivered in a bowl filled with tomato, cucumber, green lettuce and two small cheese thalers. This has absolutely nothing to do with a bowl! The burger for €22 was a pattie between two bun halves and a very small bowl of fries. All in all, very sobering.

The food was very tasty, although the menu was clear😁. Nice to very nice service, strategically located at the entrance to the CP Zugspitzresort. The wheat beer tastes particularly good there after a hike or bike tour.

Briefly summarized: It would be an easy 5 out of 5 stars. Food, drinks, location - everything was great and top. If it weren't for the "but". The service staff, however, cannot be surpassed in terms of impudence. The simplest, most polite questions about the menu (not everyone has a good grasp of Bavarian) are met with a rude and annoyed response and in the end a discussion is started for absolutely no reason that tourists are not welcome. Given the situation, it's probably more of a wannabe idea from the waitress instead of a real requirement from the boss. Absolutely cheeky. If the lady changes jobs one day, the restaurant is highly recommended, but until then I recommend giving it a wide berth.

The food and the location were great, you can't complain about that. However, the waiter was unfriendly and you didn't really feel comfortable. But the location and time with family on site masked the poor service.
