I only ate one salad. The watery, very sweet dressing wasn't to my taste at all.

We had a delicious meal today...in a lovely atmosphere...friendly service.... Everything you could want for a perfect evening.... We can't understand the 4.4 rating.... Definitely worth more....

Overall, the experience was pleasant. The food was excellent. However, the wait times were unreasonably long. Waiting 40 minutes for the bill, despite repeated requests, unfortunately spoiled the experience. We didn't get more than a drink. It wasn't any better at the neighboring tables. They had to wait as long for dessert as we did for our bill. The service staff were generally very impersonal.

This restaurant deserves full stars in everything. The service is great in German costumes. The average is even better - (outdoor seating right next to the clear blue river). The food was fantastic. The only small minus is the parking. Space for a maximum of 8 cars. But you almost forget that during the experience.

Highly recommended. We were there on a Saturday afternoon (September) and it was easy to get a table. The riverside location alone was a highlight, along with the food and Kaiserschmarrn for dessert. My friend's quote: "This is the best Kaiserschmarrn I've ever eaten. No matter where you go, it won't be as good." Simply delicious.

Three of us went to the Schmölzer Wirt and received very friendly service. For starters, we had beef broth with homemade dumplings – absolutely outstanding! The Wiener schnitzel was also very tasty, although for the price, we would have preferred more fries on our plates; it was really only a small portion. The cheese spaetzle was excellent, and the homemade cheese dumplings were also a delight. The prices are completely reasonable for this area. Overall, a very good restaurant that we would happily recommend – with a few minor reservations regarding the side dish.

First time by bike and because it was so great we got in the car again and drove 50 km each way because: Great location right on the Loisach and also tastefully and comfortably decorated inside. Magnificent - very attentive service... the restaurant was full to the last seat and they worked at an incredible speed without us as guests feeling like they were under pressure. Always a smile and always taking our time at the table. Even our empty glass was immediately noticed. Super delicious food! Finally, a restaurant where the kitchen has the courage to add seasoning - without it being over-seasoned. I always add salt to everything, my husband never does and here I didn't add any more seasoning and my husband thought it was delicious the way it was. It was probably because the products aren't just seasoned with salt and pepper and no packet sauces are used. I often don't feel like going out to eat anymore because I'm simply fed up with being fobbed off with bland packet and canned products for expensive prices by bored waiters. I've never experienced this concept of portion sizes to reduce waste before, and I'm thrilled. We'll definitely be back!

A fantastic restaurant with a large outdoor terrace and an extremely quaint, homey, and rustic interior. The menu is rather small, but offers a good selection. We ate there with our friends four evenings in a row: from tenderloin with mushroom cream and spaetzle, to very tender roast pork with bread dumplings, roast beef with onions and fried potatoes, a fantastically delicious Kaiserschmarrn (sometimes a small one shared between two as a dessert, sometimes as a main course), outstanding cheese spaetzle, bread dumplings with mushroom cream, Wiener Schnitzel and the original Wiener Schnitzel, cheese dumplings, and so on... everything was absolutely excellent, tasty, simply delicious. The staff, the service, was very friendly, attentive, relaxed, and always available for a quick chat. The employees were very pleasant. Located directly on the Hammersbach stream, which makes it a bit noisy. It's a pity that the Schmölzer Wirt is almost 600 km away from where we live - we would like to come to you more regularly ; - )

We were here for the first time today. The beer garden with the adjacent Hammerbach stream is fantastic! The service is very friendly and fast. The food is delicious! Highly recommended!

Some staff was great, others a little less, but came through later. Parking was nearby in their lot across the street and service was pretty fast. The Schnitzel was excellent, so was the fresh trout. The pork roast, despite being a little dry, had a great sauce and the portion was generous with some pork rind on top that was really yummy. Overall a good experience but with room for improvement :)

The service was very nice and friendly, and the ambiance was quite okay. Unfortunately, I had bad luck with the food. The cheese dumplings were so hard that I couldn't cut through them with a knife. I had to bite them open, almost biting my tongue because of the hardness. When I asked about them, the waitress said the chef had said they were a bit too dry. My husband's cheese spaetzle, however, were quite okay.

The food was delicious, and the place had a nice atmosphere by the river. Unfortunately, the bill included an extra item we hadn't ordered – I don't believe in coincidences, especially since the waitress used a tablet to write down the order.

Sorry, but what happened here? We were here for the first time 18 years ago, and it was always great. Today, after a three-year break, we went back and it was a real treat. The starter was tartar, no seasoning and a very bland taste. It was very nicely presented, but it's supposed to taste good. The main course was a Wiener schnitzel with dry potato salad, also without seasoning. And my Schmölzer currywurst with western fries was nothing more than two boring fried frankfurters with a very modest amount of fries. The homemade curry sauce was okay. Mayo from a tube was available on request. Sorry, but for us it was the worst meal in a three-week vacation.

Hot meals are served continuously from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., which isn't a given in this region. There's ample parking right in front of the restaurant. The lady who served me was very nice and friendly. The ambiance right by the stream is a dream; there are plenty of umbrellas large enough to sit outside even in the rain. The stream successfully drowns out the street noise, and if it's not overcast, you can even see the Zugspitze. But the best thing of all is the food. I had the most delicious Kaiserschmarren of my life. I'll definitely be back and can only recommend everyone to stop by.

The Schmölzer in Grainau is a hit for anyone who appreciates good food and a cozy atmosphere. Rustic, welcoming, and with cuisine that really puts you in a good mood – it simply tastes good here. The regional specialties, in particular, are top-notch and served with lots of love. The location in the heart of Grainau is convenient, with plenty of parking, and hikers and cyclists can easily find their way. The service is professionally friendly, even when things get hectic, prompt and with just the right touch of humor. You feel welcome and in good hands. The value for money is good. A bit more flexibility could be used – but the currywurst was good and the Kaiserschmarrn was simply fantastic. In short: If you're in Grainau, you should stop by the Schmölzer – you'll eat yourself happy here.

A truly outstanding restaurant with authentic Bavarian cuisine! My son and I felt very comfortable here. The service staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and immediately anticipated our every need – we felt well looked after throughout. The food was authentic, fresh, and delicious. For us, as guests from the north (Hamburg), it was a special pleasure to be able to enjoy authentic Bavarian specialties here. We will definitely return to the Schmolzerwirt on our return trip from Italy. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good food in a beautiful, cozy atmosphere.

It's nice when everything is fresh, but that's only half the battle. It should also taste good. We both had to add a lot of seasoning to our dishes. It was simply missing a personal touch, a certain flair, something special – something that would have made us want to come back again, but it just didn't convince us. The waiter was funny, trying to impress us with his half-knowledge of food regulations and misinformation, but I wouldn't want to put up with him again either, sorry!

I haven't meet such an unfriendly service in Germany yet. The restaurant is located in a very beautiful place, the food is quite good but overpriced. But at the end of the day the rude and inattentive waiters ruined the impression of the restaurant. They were not only unfriendly they didn't even print the check so I could see what I was paying for. Not recommended.

We ordered four different dishes. The veal meatballs were outstanding, with a fantastic sauce and a very tasty mash. Both the onion roast beef and the rump steak were cooked to perfection, but unfortunately the meat was tough. The children's menu was somewhat unimaginative. The ambiance inside was nice, and the beer garden outside, although right by the stream, was also within earshot of the busy road. The service was friendly, courteous, and always there. In summary: €167 for two adults and two children is not cheap; if it's good, it's certainly reasonable, but unfortunately far too much for the portion sizes and the quality of the two beef dishes.

A highly recommended restaurant/restaurant. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and the food was perfect and incredibly delicious. There were three of us here: two adults and one child. The children's menu is for children up to 13 years old, and the service is really good. We really enjoyed our stay.

A very nice restaurant right outside Garmisch, heading towards the Fernpass in Austria. It's an ideal place to stop for a break on your way home. Beautiful, modern, rustic interior, reminiscent of the Alpine foothills. The food was served quickly and consistently excellent, from roast pork to lentil curry. When the weather is nice, you can sit on the picturesque terrace right by the river. I've already made a note of it for my trip home!

We were there yesterday with a large group. The food served was nothing special compared to the furniture. The service seemed annoyed, their friendliness and their smiles fake. It all doesn't add up. The cheese spaetzle cost over €15, and the beer was around €6. As is common in Bavaria, the spaetzle doesn't come with salad. With salad, it was already over €20. That's above-average in Munich. You can tell the quality of the spaetzle by the canned onions sprinkled on top. At a fine restaurant, these would have to be freshly prepared. I was full, but I don't want to go there again. The food is more important to me than the colorful cow on the wall.

After a long journey, we stopped off at the Schmölzer Wirt. I have to say, our expectations were far exceeded. A gray-haired waitress with glasses welcomed us warmly and served us very courteously. The beautiful beer garden was packed. Nevertheless, the service and the food (onion roast beef and trout) were first-class! Coming from the restaurant industry ourselves, we know how difficult it is to find competent staff. Congratulations, we've succeeded here 👍. If there were 10 stars, we would give them here. Thank you for an all-around wonderful evening.

Excellent food and what a fantastic location by the river. But you get one less star after the waitress demanding to get tip after we paid by card. We should not allow the tipping culture to europe.

We visited Schmölzer Wirt for the first time today and were very pleasantly surprised! They have a lovely beer garden right next to a rushing mountain river. A very friendly and attentive waitress asked us after a short while if we'd like a drink. The food was delicious. The salad was very fresh. My cheese spaetzle was very good! We will definitely go there again for dinner. The value for money was definitely good!

Thanks to the philosophy of sourcing produce locally and keeping portions smaller and thus reducing waste, we had a very positive first impression of this restaurant. Despite the "smaller" portions, we were always full. The appetizer, main course, and dessert we ordered were all delicious! The service staff were also friendly. We'll be back.

The price was around €200. However, we each had a starter, a main course, and a dessert, along with several drinks per person. The food was excellent. It tasted very good and was plentiful. The portion sizes were absolutely reasonable for the price. The service was very friendly and competent. Overall, a very successful experience. A definite recommendation. The delicious dessert was even more filling 🤭 The staff were super friendly and accommodating. All in all, highly recommended!

It was okay, nice scenery, and easily accessible. The food itself was nothing special and not particularly good value for money. The unsalted fries were served with warm mayo, which was rather unpleasant.

The service staff, female, was very friendly, male, rather rude. The ambiance was very nice, right next to a mountain stream, but it did get annoyingly loud after a while. There were plenty of seats with some space between them. The roast pork was sliced ​​wafer-thin, as if by a slicer, the dumplings were clearly from a plastic bag, and the red cabbage was good. In my opinion, the price of just under €20.00 for this small portion of roast pork is certainly not justified! Yes, everything has gotten more expensive, but let's not be blunt. Other guests sent their plates back twice! because they were cold. In any case, we won't be going there again and we don't recommend the restaurant.

We were at the 5* Camping Resort Zugspitze campsite. On our last evening, we had dinner at the Schmölzer Wirt. Relatively high prices, but typical local dishes and drinks arrived at the table fairly quickly after ordering. Unfortunately, it was more lukewarm than hot, which is what I would have expected. It seemed more like it had been heated and prepared in another commercial kitchen. Personally, I didn't find the roast pork in dark beer sauce with red cabbage and dumplings anything special for €19.90. It's a shame, really. The cheese spaetzle with mountain cheese was far too floury for my liking and also too expensive. It's also a shame that you can't make reservations outside on the terrace. One plus, however, is that the waiters are super friendly. All in all, I would have expected more for the restaurant's appearance. I wouldn't go there again.

If you want to enjoy delicious food and a beautiful view, this restaurant is the right choice. It was delicious, and the portions were generous. Thank you very much.

The food was delicious and not too salty. The staff weren’t very cheerful, but they provided good service. I sat both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor area had a great atmosphere with a view of Zugspitze, as the restaurant is located near the border between Germany and Austria. There was a small stream next to the restaurant, which made drinking beer surprisingly enjoyable and happy. 😂

Beautiful beer garden We've been stopping at this inn for years on our way back from vacation and have never been disappointed! Unfortunately, we weren't satisfied this time. The food was almost cold and over-salted – a real mood killer. In our opinion, the prices weren't justified for the quality offered. It's a shame, we expected more.

Very delicious food with a pleasant atmosphere. If you sit outside, the stream is right next to it. It babbles and not quietly, but you can have a good conversation. You can barely hear the street next door. Unfortunately, the portions are just enough. But okay, the Kaiserschmarrn still fits in. Service is good and friendly. We were seen quickly, served quickly, and asked several times if everything was OK. We had Sauerbraten, roast pork, and shared Kaiserschmarrn for dessert. Everything was very delicious.
