Schmittner's Gaststätte in Coburg

We were in Coburg on business, got hungry, and stumbled across pictures of the food here. The schnitzels looked enormous. Now I can say: they're not only enormous, but also incredibly delicious. A definite recommendation for anyone who's hungry and appreciates a typical pub atmosphere. I'd especially like to highlight the first-class service.

We were there today and would have walked right past it based on its appearance alone. However, the price was unbeatable, the food was excellent, and the waitress was very friendly and attentive, not too pushy. I highly recommend it. Especially the schnitzel. It's definitely homemade; you can't get a ready-made one that size.

We were there on Sunday evening. It was our first time there. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the portions. And the taste was very good. We'll definitely be back. And we recommend it to others.

Unassuming at first glance. The small Sunday menu was initially disappointing. Upon closer inspection, everything you need was there, and even more. My husband had seen that they had solyanka. It wasn't on the menu, but it was served to us upon request. The food was delicious and plentiful.

A quaint restaurant with top-notch service. Don't let the exterior put you off. The food is absolutely fantastic, the chicken burger and the hunter's schnitzel... simply fantastic. Eating there is a real pleasure.

Rustic and simply pleasant. Today with a delicious chicken schnitzel, juicy, plate-sized, and thinly pounded, with fries just like you'd expect at the outdoor pool. Fast service and very reasonable prices! We'd be happy to return!

A delight in an unassuming setting On Tuesday evening, we visited Schmittner's Restaurant with a large group (21 people). The service was very attentive and friendly. Drinks arrived super quickly and were refilled regularly. The food was amazing, especially the schnitzel, which was impressive with its tender meat, generous size, and delicious flavor. The fries were well-seasoned, and the salad rounded off the plate. The chef is extremely personable and very attentive. Don't be fooled by the exterior; it's what's inside that counts. All in all, our visit to the restaurant was a culinary dream come true. We'll be back!!!

So, if the beer garden hadn't been open, I would have wanted to run away at the sight of the facade and the horrible curtains on the windows 😉. But then I decided to let the food convince me, and it was good 👍. The staff was friendly, and the price was reasonable, too 👌

The food itself tastes good. Unfortunately, the shashlik and fries portion is too small for a grown man. Camembert with some salad, cranberries, and toast is a very good idea in itself, but unfortunately the execution could be a bit more colorful and thoughtful (toasted toast and more fresh salad). The hunter's schnitzel and fried potatoes with egg, on the other hand, were good and as expected. Unfortunately, we had to wait 2 hours for the food, which isn't easy with children, so another point deducted. With a little more creativity and punctuality in service, the place wouldn't be so bad for families, as a playground is being built next door.

A rustic restaurant with great food. Down-to-earth, just the way it should be. We had the Leberkäse (meatloaf) with fried egg and fried potatoes, as well as the Jägerschnitzel (hunter's schnitzel). Both were delicious. The sauce was amazing, it tasted like home. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Everything here is perfect for a relaxed, no-frills evening. 😉

Very tasty food, with reasonable prices and great hospitality.

Four of us were there around 5 p.m. in the beautiful weather on Sunday to end the evening and were immediately seated. There is a Sunday menu, but that's what makes it so nice. We were served quickly, food and drinks arrived quickly and there were also children's portions. In terms of taste (shaschlick) a 1 plus with ⭐️. Not too expensive.

Friendly staff, short waiting time, nice little beer garden, prices okay, always happy.

We were a group of 12 people and everything worked out great. The food was served almost at the same time. The price/performance ratio was great. A huge schnitzel, perfectly breaded for under €15. The waitress was attentive and always asked if everything was still OK. Gladly again!!!!

Nice little beer garden, but we sat for a long time before we were even served. Unfortunately it wasn't possible to order drinks and food together, so we had to wait some time for the drinks. Because of this, we decided not to eat there and asked for the bill. The service staff's reaction was very snippy and unfriendly. I cannot recommend this location.

I cannot recommend the restaurant more highly. We had to wait forever for service to even order something to drink. When we asked whether we could order something to eat directly, we were rudely told that this was not possible because there were already too many orders in the kitchen. The drinks also took forever. We then decided to eat somewhere else. The waitress reacted very rudely to this. Service leaves a lot to be desired.

How unfriendly and incompetent can restaurant staff be? Schmittner's waitresses: yes! I haven't felt so unwelcome in a restaurant for a long time. Absolutely not recommended! Unfortunately I can't rate the food because after an endless wait we were only allowed to order drinks and then unfortunately we didn't have time to wait another hour for the food.

After 45 minutes drinks were finally taken. Staff was extremely unfriendly. We then didn't order any more food after the waiting time was still foreseeable. Staff then complained loudly to their colleagues about the lack of tips 🤷🏻‍♂️

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. The service was extremely unfriendly and gave the impression that we were a nuisance rather than welcome. We also had to wait an incredibly long time for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't even full. When the food finally came, it was disappointing and not worth the wait. Poor service and poor hospitality - I will definitely not eat here again.

We eat here with the family, everything was praised, Large salad plate, zander especially the schnitzel very large portions, no wonder the fries are kept under the schnitzel, which didn't bother at all.

The food (I had a Viennese style schnitzel) was very good and huge. We had to wait a while but it was worth it That wasn't our last visit.

Very good service, if you went there unannounced you couldn't get a seat. The landlord reacted spontaneously and brought us a table with chairs 👍👍👍 Food was very good and prices were okay. Rarely found.

Delicious food, finally a juicy schnitzel as it should be. Main street passes some distance away, but not so bad due to lots of greenery.

We were here from Nuremberg. We were welcomed very nicely and courteously. Food came quickly (although we heard the schnitzel was freshly made) and was simply a dream. The fries were crispy and super seasoned. Not 0815. Schnitzel hunter style meat as soft as butter (the sauce was to die for) and chicken schnitzel. Fresh salad and great dressing. Also the world's best potato salad. Thumbs up. Thanks for the nice service and the good food.

Yes, the meal was rich, the schnitzel was on top of the fries and the side dish was on the plate in the sauce. The breading of the schnitzel was completely disconnected from the meat, which wasn't supposed to be the case.

We meet here once a month. There are between 10 and 22 people and it works great. The food is sent at the same time and it always tastes delicious.

Last time the restaurant was under another management, and a lot has changed for the better in terms of service and friendliness. As a guest you are treated very courteously. The food was and is really great, the portion was large, the schnitzels were a dream. The beer garden could use a new table in one place or another, but everything fits into the picture and you feel comfortable.

If you're a schnitzel lover, this is definitely the place for you, but you should be very hungry because the portions are huge.

I had dinner here with my girlfriend yesterday. I have to admit, at first I thought, well, let's see how it tastes... Well, I've really never eaten such good liver before. The taste is really great, not so weak! But above all, very tender, which is very important to me when it comes to liver! My girlfriend's schnitzel was also great, just way too much. It was also beautifully prepared and not just slapped on. Good, big portions. We would love to come back 🤗

The food, pork medallions with spaetzle and salad, baked pork steak and a huge Viennese style schnitzel. Everything was very tasty and inexpensive. A raspberry schnapps or spirit rounded off the meal perfectly.

Once it reopens, something good can happen

We discovered this inn, which looks so inconspicuous and cozy from the outside, by chance after an extensive hiking trip and had dinner here before driving home to Thuringia. Although only the small menu was available in the evening (as opposed to lunchtime), we all immediately found something suitable and were impressed by the extremely rich and absolutely tasty portions! Plus friendly service, an absolutely cozy, typically Franconian atmosphere and all of this at extremely fair prices! Thank you for your hospitality, I would love to do it again - my full recommendation!

Wir haben gestern unsere Weihnachtsfeier bei TIkko gemacht. Alles bestens, wirklich leckeres Essen, aufmerksamer Service, Cooler Wirt und das bei vernünftigen Preisen. Alle wurden bestens bedient wir waren äußerst zufrieden. Nochmals Danke vom Team von Dr Peter Neu.

Der Biergarten ist im Sommer auch sehr schön die Preise sind angemessen. Einziges Manko. Vegetarier und Veganer kommen hier vermutlich nicht auf ihre Kosten. Flotte und freundliche Bedienung. Rundum guter Service. Sehr gerne wieder und jedem der Fleisch mag zu empfehlen.

Sehr gut. Ein einfaches Gasthaus mit überschaubarer Karte. Ich war kurz nach Küchenschluss da, trotzdem hat man mir drei kleine Gerichte angeboten. Ich hatte mich für den Wurstsalat entschieden. 👍 Frisch, hausgemacht und lecker! Ich denke, der Rest der Karte wird dem nicht nachstehen.. (Das teste ich beim nächsten Mal.) Auch der Silvaner war top. Und perfekt temperiert 😉 Auch preislich alles absolut im Rahmen. Bedienung sehr freundlich -trotz kurz vor Feierabend. Alles in allem eine sehr angenehme Erfahrung. Von meiner Seite eine klare Empfehlung für Coburg.

5 Sterne sind hier mehr als verdient denn der Service und das Essen waren absolut perfekt und auch die Preise waren sehr angemessen dafür, dass es eine riesige Portion war. Wir kommen gerne wieder. 🤗

Eine gute Gaststätte, mit sehr leckerem und vorallem mehr als ausreichenden Portionen für einen sehr guten Preis. Ich hatte ein Schnitzel mit Pommes und für den Preis war das absolut perfekt. Sehr freundliches Personal und das Ambiente wunderschön. Kommen gerne wieder :D

Hatten Schaschlik bestellt weil es uns empfohlen wurde, was wir bekommen hatten war sehr gut aber kein Schaschlik wie man es kennt bzw wollte. Es sind mehrere sehr zarte Fleischstücke, Paprika und Zwiebeln welche jedoch nie auf einem Spieß waren.
