It gives a feeling that unites the traditional with the modern and comfortable in summer and autumn. Its beautiful trees offer shade and tranquility and a place for the birds that sometimes accompany your best moments... A place to have a delicious traditional beer or a good white wine with small snacks and taste light and tasty dishes that are not expensive and quite healthy. A place to share with family, new friends, or your girlfriend. Near the library, go next to the museum.

It's self-service. The staff is very friendly, and you're served quickly. The restrooms are a bit dated.

It's Heinerfest, you want to go out, and there's NOTHING to eat here during the day—no snacks, no cake, and no changing dishes as advertised. There are only drinks. Very disappointing. Seating is also very limited, and you have to wait forever for something to become available.

The location is great, despite the very central location it is quiet and the backdrop in front of the castle is simply great. Sitting on the wall with a cool beer, especially on warm summer evenings, is simply relaxing and a dream. Drink prices are clear, the offering is quite broad and there is something for everyone. Food is more of a snack, so not something for those who are very hungry. Aperol also in 0.4l is great, but the quality varies a bit. Service is almost always very friendly and usually relatively quick when it comes to handing out drinks and food. Update: Card payments are now possible again for any amount, thank you very much!

A wonderful place in the heart of Darmstadt with a great atmosphere. We ended the day here on two summer evenings in August under the shady trees. Very fair drink prices and very friendly service staff. We would love to come back there.

It's surprisingly nice to sit in the middle of the city and you hardly notice the noise of the city ring. Unfortunately, that's it. Anyway, tonight we only had bottled beer. The range of food on offer is manageable, okay. - what is offered here for €6.50 as a portion of cooked cheese is, in terms of quantity, beyond good and bad, plain language: Nepp. Even the good bread doesn't console you. You won't be served either; you have to queue twice to order and then to pick it up. Whoever likes it...

Wunderschön hier. Eine absolute Bereicherung für die Innenstadt. Ums Schloß herrscht Verkehrschaos und mitten drin diese Oase unter Bäumen. Kann jedem nur einen Besuch empfehlen.

Netter Biergarten auf der Schlossbastion. Getränkeauswahl ist groß, Kaffee gibt es auch mit Hafermilch und generell wird bei den Getränken auch auf Nachhaltigkeit geachtet. Essensauswahl ist begrenzt, aber ausreichend für einen Aufenthalt. Weine sind auch gut, genauso wie die Location an sich. Trotz der Nähe zum Cityring relativ ruhig.

Schöne Location. Lecker Eiskaffee sogar mit Haferdrink. Wein, Bier, Saft gut Auswahl zu vernünftigen Preisen. Kuchen wird auch angeboten.

Sehr schönes Ambiente für Darmstadt. Man kann gut mit Freunden auf ein Glas hierhin. Mit mehreren Leuten sollte man aber auch einen Tische finden; zu zweit oder zu dritt geht auch die Burgmauer noch gut als Platz mit etwas Aussicht

die Suppe war sehr lecker, Bedienung freundlich und natürlich ein wunderschönes Ambiente. man sitzt unter alten Bäumen mit Blick aufs schloss, ein kleiner Springbrunnen plätschert... sehr entspannt.

Ja irgendwie ungezwungen gut und zentral dazu günstig gesellig und so einfach das es immer wieder schön ist.

Der am besten versteckte Biergarten der Stadt, aber kein Geheimtipp. Die Auswahl an Getränken ist in Ordnung. Es gibt Aperol in Sondergröße. Die Auswahl an Essen ist bescheiden. Es herrscht Selbstbedienung und alles wirkt, auch nach Jahren, noch immer improvisiert. Der Beliebtheit tut das keinen Abbruch.

Der Biergarten liegt mitten im Schloßgarten und hier bekommt man nichts mit von der hektischen Stadt. Das Essen schmeckt lecker und die Bedienungen sind sehr freundlich. Wir kommen wieder!

Der gemütliche Hof mitten in der Stadt öffnet unter der Woche um 14:00 Uhr und bietet eine nette Biergartenathmosphäre zu günstigen Preisen. Die Getränke/Schorlen (0,4 für 3,00 Euro) und der Kuchen Euro 2,50). Die meist studentischen Bedienungen sind freundlich bis witzig. Hier kann man sich in jedem Alter zu jeder Tageszeit aufhalten.aufhalten

Auf der Schlossmauer sitzt man unter Bäumen in einer studentisch angehauchten Atmosphäre und kann für (für Darmstädter Verhältnisse) wenig Geld kleine Mahlzeiten und kühle Getränke genießen. Im Sommer gibt es einen sonnigen Self-Service-Bereich, während man im Teil mit Bedienung schattiger sitzt. Der Service ist freundlich, manchmal etwas langsam, aber das stört (mich) nicht. An warmen Sommerwochenenden kann es auch recht voll werden.

Der Schlossgarten ist immer einen Besuch wert. Im Sommer wird viel Programm geboten. Die verschiedenen Kuchensorten schmecken sehr gut. Ich empfehle die Rhabarber Schorle!

Allgemein: Der Schlossgarten ist ein Biergarten auf der Stadtmauer des Darmstädter Residenzschlosses. Betrieben wird er vom AStA der TU Darmstadt. Lage und Anfahrt: Die Lage mitten im Zentrum der Stadt macht den Biergarten sowohl mit dem Fahrrad als auch per ÖPNV gut erreichbar. Kostenlose Parkplätze zu finden ist nahezu ausgeschlossen, in direkter Nachbarschaft befindet sich jedoch ein Parkhaus. Der neu gestaltete Schlossgraben um den Biergarten schirmt den Biergarten weitestgehend vom Stadtlärm ab. Ambiente & Publikum: Auf der einen Seite ist der Schlossgarten ein typischer Biergarten (viele Bäume, Klappstühle, teilweise Selbstbedienung), auf der anderen Seite wird es aber gerade nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit durch viele Kerzen und eine stimmungsvolle Beleuchtung sehr gemütlich. Das Publikum ist, wie von einem innenstädtischen Biergarten zu erwarten, bunt gemischt. Gerade an sonnigen Tagen ist der Biergarten jedoch oft überfüllt, sodass ein Platz an einem der Tische Abends eher Glückssache ist. Die Möglichkeit sein Essen/Getränk aus dem eigentlichen Biergarten hinaus zu nehmen und sich auf die Stadtmauer oder mit den Füßen im Wasser an den Brunne zu setzen, entschädigt hierfür allerdings. Trotz des großen Andrangs wirkt der Schlossgarten selten hektisch. Service: Meist sehr freundlich und schnell, oft jedoch mit den vielen Gästen schlicht überfordert. Dies liegt vor allem daran, dass an lediglich einer Theke die Selbstbedienungskundschaft und die Servicekräfte bedient werden. Trotz allem sind Wartezeiten über 10 Minuten die Ausnahme und die meisten Gäste in der Schlange eher guter Laune. Abgeräumt wird auch außerhalb des eigentlichen Biergartengeländes regelmäßig, sodass sich nirgendwo Geschirrberge türmen. Essen & Getränke: Die Getränkeauswahl ist für einen Biergarten recht ordentlich. Die in einer anderen Rezension angebrachte Kritik, dass Kaltgetränke lauwarm ausgeschenkt werden, kann ich so nicht bestätigen. Sowohl Apfelwein als auch das (gezapfte) Pils als auch das von mir bevorzugte Weißbier (Weizen, Weizenbier, Hefe oder wie auch immer) habe ich bisher immer angenehm Kühl bekommen. Die Speiseauswahl hingegen lässt ein paar Wünsche offen. Zwar ist das Angebot an kalten Speisen und Kuchen (der meist wirklich gut ist) in Ordnung, warme Gerichte fehlen auf der Karte jedoch vollständig. Dies ist sicherlich den fehlenden Kochmöglichkeiten vor Ort geschuldet, bringt den Besucher jedoch in die Bredouille vor oder nach dem Besuch anderweitig zu speisen. Wem ein Snack reicht ist hier jedoch gut bedient. Preis-Leistung: Solides Preisniveau: Ein 0,5-Liter Weißbier liegt (Stand Juni 2017) beispielsweise bei 3,30 €. Damit rangiert der Schlossgarten etwas unter dem Darmstädter Durchschnitt, die bei einer von der AStA betriebenen Gastronomie vermuteten "Studentenpreise" sucht man jedoch vergeblich. Lage und Ambiente würden jedoch auch ein höheres Preisniveau rechtfertigen, sodass das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis trotzdem als "gut" bezeichnet werden kann. Fazit: Alles in allem einer meiner Lieblingsplätze für den Sommer in Darmstadt. Gerade zu zweit oder in kleineren Gruppen kann man die gemütliche Atmosphäre sehr gut genießen. Pluspunkte gibt es auch für den meist freundlichen und engagierten Service. Das Fehlen warmer Speisen und die Tatsache, dass der Schlossgarten bei gutem Wetter regelmäßig überfüllt sind, verhindern jedoch eine Best-Bewertung. Eindeutige vier Punkte an den Schlossgarten! Ein Hinweis in eigener Sache. Leider stelle ich immer wieder fest, dass die Bandbreite der Punkteskala hier nicht voll genutzt wird und Restaurants mit weniger als 4 Punkten schnell als "schlecht" links liegen gelassen werden. Deshalb hier meine Punkteskala: 1 =grauenhaftes Erlebnis, nicht einmal für umsonst besuche ich diesen Ort erneut 2 = rausgeschmissenes Geld! 3 = normal. nichts was ich unbedingt weiterempfehlen würde, aber wenn ich zufällig wieder dort lande: auch nichts zum bereuen 4 = tolle Örtlichkeit! Empfehle ich gerne weiter und ich freue mich, wieder zu kommen 5 = perfektes Erlebnis. Ich habe mich rundum wohl gefühlt und empfehle diesen Ort vorbehaltlos!

Not to be confused with the "Schlossgarten Cafe" in the Martinsviertel, "schlossgarten" is the open air cafe actually in the Schloss. It's a delightful place to sit, although they have cut the trees back recently (visited July 2016) so not as much shade as there used to be. The Rhababerschorle is delicious, the cakes and small lunch specials (e.g. Bulgursalat) normally also pretty good. Prices very reasonable. The only drawback is the service. It can take a while to get attention and for drinks to come, even when it is not so busy. One gets the impression that the servers are somewhat untrained students. So, my advice is be patient, relax, enjoy the scenery and atmosphere. But still, it would be nice if service were quicker! If you found my review helpful, I would appreciate your vote.

На террасе второго этажа можно насладиться пивом или вином и видом на площадь перед музеем или на замок. Ничем особенным этот бар не выделяется.

Wir waren am Wochenende gegen Abend im Schlossgarten gewesen. Die Lage ist sehr schön und der Biergarten schön schattig unter Bäumen. Das ist aber auch schon alles was ich positives darüber berichten kann. Um an ein Getränk zu gelangen mussten wir uns 15-20 Minuten in eine Schlange anstellen um dann ein warmes Bier gereicht zu bekommen was in einem Rutsch durchgezapft wurde und so sah es dann auch aus. Wie einen Urinprobe..!!! Als Ausrede zu unserem warmen Bier hin, bekamen wir gesagt das es draußen sehr heiß sei. Als ich dem Barmann sagte, das dass andere Biergärten auch hin bekommen wurde mir angeboten das ich ja Eiswürfel bekommen könnte.....sehr kompetente Antwort muss ich sagen...!!!! Auf meine Frage hin wo denn hier die Toiletten seien wurde ich ca. 150 m weiter in den Schloßhof geschickt wo ich dann meine Notdurft in einem Bauwagen / Toilettenwagen verrichten durfte. Das war ein Geruchserlebnis muss ich Euch sagen. Alles in allem gut gedacht aber schlecht gemacht..!!!

awesome location to have a coffee, beer, wine or hesse cider. they serve some very decent regional snacks aswell. the only thing that could possibly ruin your evening is heavy rain as there is nothing to protect you but some lovely trees spread all over the place...

The Schlossgarten Café is one of my favourite places in Darmstadt during summer time. It is run by TU Darmstadt Student's Union. One can sit in the outside under the trees and enjoy a drink with friends in the evening, a coffee in the morning, read in a relaxing environment ... It tends to be packed in the evening so if you are looking for a peaceful place better come in the morning or in the afternoon. Anyhow, it is always possible to find a place where to sit since it is pretty big. The location in Darmstadt's old residential palace is just gorgeous. Food-related I have to admit I have only had cake there and it is good but nothing to rave about. There are also snacks and breakfast in the morning. A good thing for vegans and lactose intolerants is that they have soy milk and lactose-free milk.
