We were invited there for a birthday party, so I can't comment on the price. The food was delicious, and despite the large number of guests, we were served relatively simultaneously. The staff also checked regularly to see if anyone needed anything or if any empty dishes needed clearing.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Even for niche groups (vegetarians), there was a selection beyond the classic Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle). Meat dishes were well-portioned. Since there seems to be no internet signal in that corner, the numerous small children at the neighboring tables had to be entertained elsewhere. Therefore, it was a bit noisy. But the look in the eyes of the exasperated parents made it all worthwhile... 😜

We were always well served. The food is very good. It can get a bit noisy in the conservatory when groups are there, but otherwise it's no problem.

We went for dinner on New Year's Eve. Everything was great! We'd love to come back again.

Excellent food, friendly service. We had roast meat and schnitzel. The food arrived quickly and tasted fantastic. There's also a butcher shop attached to the inn.

The food is very good. I had the roast suckling pig shoulder, a true Franconian specialty. All the other dishes at the table were also very good.

Lovely location, delicious food (thank you for the wintery cordon bleu, a fantastic creation!), beautiful conservatory. The only thing we didn't quite like was the very bright lighting. Unfortunately, it detracts somewhat from the ambiance and coziness. Perhaps it's possible to dim it a bit. But that's just a minor point; otherwise, there was nothing to complain about. 😄

As always, good food, served quickly, at reasonable prices, and with a smile. And then a quick stop at the butcher shop to pick up some cans of this delicious food for "abroad" (Hesse) 😀 ... it was a lovely visit.

Very good meat dish, friendly service and a great butcher shop.

The shoulder of pork was good, but the sauce for the roast veal was spicy with chili, which I didn't think was appropriate. The double espresso was served in a coffee cup, but it tasted quite good. That's something you can't say about regular coffee. I highly recommend it. Oh, and you have to pour your own beer, which isn't always easy with wheat beer. The service was good, and the ambiance is typical of a Franconian restaurant. I won't make the trip just to eat there again.

We had a family celebration in the winter garden yesterday. Everything was a great success. Even the preliminary discussion about the menu, etc., with the senior chef was very pleasant and professional. The tables were beautifully and tastefully set, the service was friendly, relaxed, and absolutely delightful, and the food was once again excellent. Many of our guests (including us) opted for the carp fillet; it was incredibly good! The shoulder of pork and schnitzel were also very popular again. From the "test meal" a few weeks ago, I know that the dumpling trio is also very tasty. The mixed dessert (fire sparrows, plums, vanilla ice cream) was so good that some regretfully decided not to have cake later. For the children, the playground was a welcome change, despite the intermittent rain. All in all, a successful celebration. We'll be back and say thank you!

I celebrated my birthday at Schloss Oedenberg – it was a wonderful and successful day! The service (Finn!) was fantastic, and the cakes and dinner were delicious! We love this place! Always a pleasure ♥️ Thanks to the whole team!

Food was inedible at an overpriced price

I ate there twice. Once in the beer garden and once in the winter garden. The seating was very good there. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The service is friendly. The outdoor setting is also very nice. There is plenty of parking. The food is very nicely presented. Unfortunately, the quality is not that high. For such a nice restaurant, they should work on the taste of the food. Then it would be a perfect place.

Saturday evening: Wonderful location, VERY friendly service from the owner and his staff. The sauerbraten was very authentic, and the draft beer was sensational. The playground for the little ones completes the package...

We stayed at Oedenberg Castle at the end of our vacation. I recognized it from the 2014 BR broadcast. We're from the Chiemsee area, so it's a bit far away. We were there with our four children (a perfect play area was available) on Wednesday for the Schlachtschüssel (slaughter bowl). It seems like little has changed since 2014. Perfect food, top-quality in-house processing, top-quality craftsmanship. We immediately stopped by the butcher's shop so we could take these outstanding specialties home with us. My other Upper Bavarian family and I rated the outstanding quality of the sausages and meat products as excellent! Keep up the good work; we'll definitely make the 250 kilometers again soon to enjoy this. By the way, the service and staff were extremely courteous and perfectly organized! Best regards!

The Franconian sausages, probably made by the in-house butcher, tasted excellent. The well-seasoned sauerkraut and rustic farmhouse bread, along with non-alcoholic wheat beer from the Laufer Dreykorn Brewery, made my spontaneous late-summer Sunday outing to the cozy beer garden of Oedenberg Castle an unforgettable experience: vacation at home can be so wonderful.

We ate out here and we all really enjoyed the food. I ordered the mountain cheese dumplings with mushroom cream sauce and it was very filling. I can only recommend this dish! What I didn't like was the price of the asparagus dishes. I think 21€ for about 5 pieces of asparagus and a few potatoes is a bit excessive... But the prices for the usual dishes were good. The staff was very friendly and personable. They also have good relationships with children. The ambience is wonderful. There are places for inside and outside. I would highly recommend making a reservation, especially for holidays like Mother's Day.

We celebrated our baptism here. The organization, the food and the service were excellent. Our wishes were practically read from our eyes. It was definitely worth the price and we recommend the inn without reservation.

Had a delicious lunch today (Sunday). The service was very friendly and quick. The food also tasted good to everyone. The menu offers a very good selection of different dishes compared to other Franconian restaurants in the area. There is also more vegetarian options than just cheese spaetzle. The atmosphere was also inviting. Only the prices are slightly above average.

I stopped there while passing through to pick up some sausage. The boss who served us was also really nice. Regarding the sausage, I have to say everything except the blood sausage is great. The black pudding, however, was a miss. The rest is absolutely recommended and I will come back

Unfortunately, you often read about unpleasant situations with the junior boss - unfortunately I can now confirm this too... We wanted to celebrate our baptism here in May, but after the desired space in the winter garden was no longer available, we were promised a space inside for our 15 guests. On a social media channel I asked for tips for nice alternative restaurants where you can sit outside or in the winter garden as desired. Mr. Fensel probably noticed this and felt personally attacked - he canceled our reservation without further questions. Even when I asked him to keep the reservation, he stuck to his guns. His emails were emotional and unprofessional. I completely understand that it's annoying when reservations are not honored... But we certainly didn't plan on that! Jumping to conclusions immediately and stubbornly canceling the reservation without asking is not exactly customer-friendly. In addition, there is still half a year until the date and there are only 15 people... a completely exaggerated reaction from the restaurateur! According to reviews, this unfriendliness is well known - a shame. Very nice restaurant but unfortunately that's not how it works... we'll definitely not be coming back. There are great alternatives in the surrounding area where you as a paying guest will be treated politely and friendly. Mr. Fensel, a polite inquiry about the current status would have been de-escalating and customer- and service-oriented. There is certainly unjustified criticism - but if it accumulates - especially with regard to manners - that would be a point to reflect on.

We were very enthusiastic about the restaurant. The atmosphere was really cozy and also beautifully decorated for Christmas. The service was top notch! Very attentive but not intrusive. When the waiter noticed that we wanted to take a photo, he offered to take a photo of us together. Super accommodating. And then the food. I haven't eaten so well in a long time. Schnitzel, Schäufele and roast pork were first class and the portions were very generous. The selection for vegetarians is also very large and the spinach dumplings were also very tasty. We will definitely recommend the restaurant and thank you for such a successful evening!

I recently had dinner here with my partner, we absolutely loved it! From the first moment everything was right - the atmosphere was inviting and stylish, perfect for a relaxed evening. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and you immediately felt welcome. The food was the absolute highlight. Real Franconian cooking is still done here. A taste experience. I was particularly impressed by the carp - it was perfectly seasoned. The selection for vegetarians was also excellent. The attention to detail and freshness of the ingredients could be tasted in every bite. Conclusion: A restaurant that I can only recommend! Perfect ambience, first-class food and wonderful service - I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

We had dinner here just 2 days ago, as we have done so often, but this time we were very disappointed with the food. The carp was hardly seasoned and not baked well and had almost no color. The cordon bleu was the same, barely seasoned and the meat tough. My friend had no carbonation and unfortunately it tasted really stale.

We were absolutely thrilled with this castle, which isn't actually a castle but looks more like a hostel. Above all, the ambience. We sat in the garden last year. The man's schnitzel and the Schäufala that I had were absolutely great. There was salad with it and everything was very well seasoned. We sat close to the house and had a good time sitting there. The service came promptly and was friendly, and we also got the food together and it went quickly. Afterwards we went for a walk in the very beautiful area and found many a wild apple tree. It went downhill into a forest, everything was easy to walk. Also for older people. Gladly again. Happy birthday soon.

We ate here today and I have to say that I don't understand why it's rated so well. UNFORTUNATELY. We actually planned to celebrate our birthday here but after today... We had Schäuerle suckling pig, which unfortunately was absolutely not seasoned enough and my steak for a whopping €30 wasn't worth it either... Fries and dumplings were okay, everything was a side dish, the salad was also left over for Christmas. Carrot salad tasted canned and the dressing could be better. What I have to say, however, is that we like the decor and the beer garden is also very nice and is a playground for the children. Maybe we'll try again in the winter but it was pretty disappointing... I paid €100 for two with a child: 2 aperitifs, 2 main courses and a dumpling with sauce for the child as well as 2 desserts. I think it's a bit steep considering we had to wait a long time at times and it only tasted so-so. Too bad.

The food is good, the atmosphere is pleasant, unfortunately the prices have risen extremely. The bottom line is that the restaurant is no longer worth its price compared to the other Middle Franconian country inns.

Nice restaurant with a very nice garden with a children's playground. The food was good, the service was nice. But what causes me a lack of understanding are the prices. I think it's way too expensive for a Schäuferla with dumpling at 21 euros. (In a well-known restaurant at Nuremberg's dozen pond, a Schäuferla costs 14.90 euros). The prices for a family outing restaurant are also high. It's a shame that's why I only give it three stars.

A somewhat outdated restaurant, a beautiful modern winter garden, otherwise an old but cozy restaurant. We used to love being here, almost every celebration was celebrated here. The prices were affordable and you got something for your money. Condition today... The prices are like in a gourmet restaurant... the service, well (under new management)... the food, no longer what it used to be... soups taste like they come out of a bag.. sauces are more or less sometimes soggy Portions are getting smaller and prices are unreasonable. As I said, this is just my opinion. We're not going there anymore.

Traditional, very family-friendly, long-established restaurant with a wonderful ambience, hearty Franconian food, a wonderful beer garden with shady trees and a playground for the little ones. Oldenburg Castle is not far from Nuremberg and can be easily reached by car or bicycle via various winding country roads. It is usually very busy, which is why a reservation is recommended, especially if you want a place in the beer garden, but even without a reservation you are usually lucky. The food will be particularly tasty for lovers of Franconian cuisine, and there is also a large selection of delicious and homemade cakes. Vegetarian dishes can also be ordered, although there may still be some room for improvement in terms of number and creativity. The service is usually friendly, fast and courteous. Particularly worth mentioning is the large playground directly behind the beer garden. Parents can relax with a refreshing drink while watching the little ones run around. There are two swings, a slide, a sandpit and a kind of wooden castle. There is a large hiking board next to the restaurant; the landscape around Oldenburg is hilly and varied.

Wir gehen seit einigen Jahren mit der Familie hier essen und sind immer wieder aufs Neue begeistert von der guten Qualität des Essens. Hervorzuheben ist die Kreativität der Küche, klassischem Essen einen neuen Reiz zu geben (z.B. „winterliches Cordon-Bleu“ mit Backpflaumen und Wildschinken). Der Service ist stets einwandfrei und zuvorkommend. Die negativen Kritiken kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Keiner zahlt gerne mehr Geld. Gestiegene Preise sind aber einfach die logische Konsequenz bei höheren Ausgaben und gestiegener Mehrwertsteuer. Das kann man nun wirklich nicht den Gastwirten vorwerfen, zumal das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis hier immer stimmt. Besonders zu erwähnen ist der wirklich schöne Biergarten, von dem aus man im Sommer die Kinder beim Spielen im gepflegten Spielplatz beobachten kann. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Es ist offensichtlich, dass die Eigentümer keine Gäste mehr wollen (Preise, Service, Freundlichkeit usw.)! Bei uns haben sie es geschafft! Wir kommen nicht wieder!

Eines der besten Restaurants des fränkischen Essens in Nürnberger Region. Ein Besuch hier lohnt sich auf jeden Fall, um die leckeren Spezialitäten auszuprobieren. Die Bedienung ist sehr nett und höflich, man fühlt sich sehr wohl. Die Atmosphäre drin ist sehr schön. Es gibt sehr viele Tische, jedoch muss man auf jeden Fall vorher reservieren, da das Restaurant sehr beliebt ist und vor allem am Wochenende sehr viele Besucher hat.

Das Essen war schon mal besser. Bei Schäuferle für inzwischen 20 € erwartet man rösche frische Kruste. Aufgewärmt bzw. warmgehalten ist die Kruste nicht das, was man gerne hätte. Kruste warmgehalten wird zu hart aber nicht rösch, Klösse werden zu weich. Zwei Essen waren vor den Getränken da. Dann kamen die zwei anderen Speisen, danach die Getränke. Nicht schön. Erinnert an Massenabfertigung. Schade, ihr könntet es besser. Vor dem Betreten des Lokals trafen wir zwei schimpfende alte Herren die berichteten, nach 1,5 Std. hinausgeschmissen worden zu sein, da die nächste Schicht käme. Sie hätten gerne noch ihr Bier in Ruhe ausgetrunken. Ich kenne das Schloss sehr lange, auch noch aus alten Zeiten, so war es mir eigentlich lieber. Massenabfertigung kann ich während der Arbeit in unserer Kantine genießen. Lieber warte ich ein wenig auf das Essen, dafür habe ich zuerst Getränke und frische Speisen bzw. Frisch aufbereitete Speisen. Dass man Schäuferle nicht dann frisch zubereiten kann wenn der Gast kommt, ist völlig klar. Aber man kann nach dem Vorgaren die Kruste frisch aufrösten. Ein wenig Gemütlichkeit und Genuss gehört zum Restaurantbesuch dazu, nicht nur der möglichst häufige Umsatz der Tische.

Waren Sonntag essen meine Frau mus glutenfreie essen die Bedienung hat uns sofort geholfen finde ich super hat gutes coromblö super und ich habe Karpfen gegessen und der junge Kellner war super nett also immer wieder. Und Nachtisch war lecker

Die Umgebung ist super schön, vor allem der Wintergarten und der Außenbereich. Essen schmeckt gut, jedoch wenig Auswahl an vegetarischen Gerichten (ich glaube insgesamt drei, abgesehen von der Kinderkarte) und gar keine veganen Gerichte. Service ist sehr nett.

Essen und Bedienung top Lediglich vom metzgereinkauf an der Theke war ich enttäuscht das weisse Gold nimmt sehr überhand geschmacklich hätte ich hier mehr erwartet.

Wir waren in dem Restaurant letzte Woche Mittagessen. Der Ort und der Wintergarten wo man (auch) essen kann ist sehr schön. Es gibt ausreichend kostenlose Parkplätze. Die Bedienungen waren sehr nett und schnell. Das Schäufele war vom Fleisch gut aber die Kruste leider zu hart statt knusprig. Die Soße und das Klos dazu sehr gut. Die viertel Ente war jedoch leider mit einer (für mich) ungenießbaren Sosse die wie eine Schaschliksosse (also mit viel Paprikapulver) geschmeckt hat. Dies sagte ich auch der Bedienung am Schluss vor dem Bezahlen. Sie wollte dies auch der Küche mitteilen.

Wir hatten reserviert , war um 17:40 Uhr schon sehr gut besucht. Freundliche Begrüßung, Begleitung zum Platz. Bestellung wurde zügig aufgenommen und Getränke serviert. Das Essen war sehr gut, Schweinefiletmedaillons Butter weich und rosa innen, Schäuferla vom Spanferkel mit frischem Klos, Salat war auch knackig und gut. Da kehrt man gerne wieder ein!

Nettes Lokal mit leckerem Essen, freundlicher Bedienung . Das Essen war nicht nur lecker, es war auch noch schnell am Platz.
