Schleusenkrug in Berlin

We had a delicious meal in the best weather and can recommend this gem.

I came there with a larger group of 25 people, was the second person to order pumpkin soup and was the last to receive the order after everyone had almost finished or had already finished eating, even though the order had already been taken at the checkout. Only when I asked again was a lukewarm vegetable soup delivered, which didn't taste particularly good. The food from the others didn't look bad, but definitely not recommended because of the service and unfriendliness!!

When tourists happened to pass by, we stopped in and enjoyed a very good ginger tea with a piece of good cold dog. It's only a few minutes' walk from the Zoo train station, which you should take.

Very friendly and quick staff and recommended as a location when the sun is shining. I haven't been inside yet.

I didn't like the homemade apple strudel at all, and I didn't like the cappuccino either. I can't comment on the other food and drinks. I think the Schleusenkrug is a suitable place to go for a walker in the zoo who wants to take a break, but not to eat delicious food. The location is very good on the Landwehr Canal in the Tiergarten. There are also places outside.

Unfortunately not suitable for a quick coffee outside in the sun, at least if you like French: there are a variety of fatty cakes, but no croissant, no cinnamon roll, nothing at all. Poor performance these days.

A quaint restaurant on a boat by the river. I tried a very traditional Berlin dish - LABSKAUS which is corned beef, fried egg, pickled herring, beets and potatoes. Not what expected for dinner but it was quite filling.

Sit outside on a golden autumn day, enjoy the sun and watch children and pensioners. Well organized self service and food is brought to the table. The difference to the café at the new lake? Much more relaxed and normal and lots of nice people.

One of the city's beer gardens. Centrally located but surrounded by greenery, the Schleusenkrug has been a fixture in Berlin for decades. If you want to take a break after visiting the zoo, this is the place for you.

We were on a Sunday after a tour of the market, it was busy but we didn't wait in line. The food looked delicious, we drank beer. A restaurant inside the park, with seating facing the river. shady and pleasant

We were there as part of a group and were able to order from the food and drink selection using a small card and a number on it (payment on account). Unfortunately, only the main house was included, not the shed 10m away. It's a shame that I was first sent there and told it would work and then was told it couldn't be done. Better knowledge of the staff employed would have been helpful. Food was mediocre. Ordered and brought to the table less than 5 minutes later. Very simple quick meal. Grill wasn't open. Little waiting time when ordering. Self-service for food and drinks. Toilet without the possibility to dry your hands.

We tried the Mediterranean Pizza and the truth is that it is very good and at a good price. With some good local beers, the pizza is enough for two people.

We use the last beautiful late summer days to enjoy a well-kept Allgäuer Büble in the beer garden on the Landwehr Canal. Great ambience with Berlin air.

Classic beer garden inside the Tiergarten. Very youthful atmosphere although you can find people of all ages. It is very nice but also a very relaxing place that acquires more charm in the evening, when lit. It has several beers and a decent eating menu. Good baked potatoes, average beer.

The rhubarb spritzer was very tasty.

Classic beer garden in the middle of the city. However, the great ambience is spoiled. The food is below average and doesn't justify the high price. A pretzel without salt must also be labeled as such (e.g. salt-free pretzel or similar). Service was friendly so far. I recommend looking for alternatives. (Rated at lunchtime)

Prices are completely exorbitant (schnitzel rolls €8.50, currywurst with potato wedges €14.50, tarte flambée around €16). Of course, all while queuing at the counter. The taste of the tarte flambée was very good, the currywurst was good, the potato wedges were catastrophic. I wouldn't go there again and can't recommend the beer garden if the quality remains the same. (As always, my personal and subjective view)

Very nicely located restaurant. If you sit in the right place you can watch the ships move through the locks. The canal and the zoo in the area create a very relaxed atmosphere. Often very crowded but there are also quiet times. If you want you can also eat something. Always worth a visit.

It was a warm summer evening, lots of interesting people. It's self-service, but the service is fast and friendly and the food is delicious. Would love to come back, great atmosphere.

The food is relatively expensive. The currywurst is terrible. The potato wedges are lukewarm to cold, full of oil and totally flaky. Actually a disgrace. The schnitzel is good but overpriced.

There are almost no parking spaces around. The connection to public transport is good. There are nice seats with a view of the Spree, which unfortunately you can't enjoy because the chairs are uncomfortable. The ambience is close to a beer garden. The individual tables are close to each other, which leads to a noisy environment with little to no privacy when it is busy. The service is okay. The tables are numbered, which makes it easier to serve. However, when ordering at the counter, you also have to specify the table number at which you will/would like to sit. The order is brought to the table by the staff and then cleared from the table again. The staff is friendly, almost family-like. The food and drinks are relatively expensive. Evaluating the taste is difficult because it is subjective and was only one dish, but it still has room for improvement. The crowd was ok. Other dishes on the neighboring plates were of different sizes, making it difficult to rate.

Good, delicious food from all over the country. In the middle of it all, but chilled! One of the few beer gardens in Berlin with a Maß Bier. Beautiful ambience in the summer evenings. No music. Self-service.

Nice beer garden, food is delivered to the table, the beer is drinkable and if you sit by the canal it's a great way to spend the day there. Update, August 27, 2024 (4 years later): Basically as before, given the inflation of the last few years, prices have risen accordingly. The food is still OK, but for the price I found the portions to be manageable today. Some colleagues and I also ordered a second main course to fill us up.

Cozy biergarten in leafy surroundings near Bahnhof Zoo. A must visit/watering hole when shopping on Kurfürstendamm/Tauentzienstraße.

Chill spot for after-work drinks and good vibes. If you're with a group, it's hard to get a table without a reservation, but for just two people, walk-ins are usually no problem. One of Berlin's best choices for vegetarian options in a beer garden. Cozy atmosphere and usually friendly staff. Highly recommend!

A beer garden right next to the zoo. Relatively expensive for a rather average taste, except for the currywurst, which doesn't work for me at all, but that's a matter of taste. The staff is very friendly and the food is brought to the table really quickly. The ambience is quite decent for a beer garden, a bit loud, but that's the way it is.

The atmosphere is ideal, a garden with many tables, if you plan to go in the afternoon, don't let go, it gets packed. To order a drink there is no problem, you go to the bar and order, but if you plan to order food, it is better to know which table you are going to sit at, since they will ask you where you are going to be to take the plate. We ordered some beers and some pretzels to start. Afterwards we cheered ourselves up with more beers and accompanied it with a currywurst with potatoes, the dish was delicious, its price for a single sausage, perhaps expensive, but for the place, it is worth it. If you want to save a long time just to order the drink, there is a small kiosk inside that you can make do with, although at that kiosk you only pay in cash.

The flammkuchen looked like a pizza and was too thick. The salad was uncut. Nevertheless a pleasant morning was had. Don’t expect anything fancy even if the prices might suggest otherwise. It’s an establishment that doesn’t feel like it’s changed for years and that’s quite nice in a place like Berlin. 3.5 stars if I could. I’ll be back, but rather for drinks than food. Next time ein carajillo bitte.
